***So...since I am having trouble coming up with a certain scene in my smut-filled story titled "Reunited At Last", I figured this as good a time as any to update this story before it becomes old news within the fanfiction archive.***
**Where we left off was just after the brother's Teagues made a surprise Valentine's Day morning visit to our favorite detectives shared office...many moments after Audrey revealed to Nathan that he was going to be a father again.**

Chapter 2: A Surprise Visit from the Brothers Teague
Audrey and Nathan both look up from the paperwork they are currently working on the meet the eyes of the curious newspaperman who helped hide the strange occurrences that often went down due to the troubles happening, and noticed that they were each holding a Valentine's Day gift in each of their hands, making Audrey and Nathan exchange curious expressions with each other.
"Um...Vince...Dave...what brings you here this fine Valentine's Day morning...in mine and Nathan's office?" Audrey replied, still holding the mostly half-eaten red velvet cupcake in her hand as she regarded the two brothers curiously.
"Well...we were just coming by to wish you guys a happy valentine's as we give you guys your gifts...they are from both of us." Vince replied, walking towards the front of Audrey's desk to place a red bag down on her desk as she brought her attention to it curiously.
"We also came to tell about Haven's annual Sweetheart dance that Vince and I are helping put together and would be delighted if you came tonight to celebrate Valentine's day with the town of Haven." Dave replied, setting down an equally red gift bag ontop of Nathan's desk.
"Sweetheart dance?" Audrey replied, glancing a look at Nathan who gave her a smile that only she knew the meaning to.
"Did I mention that Dwight is having everyone be on patrol duty for tonight's dance?" Nathan replied, sending an apoplegetic look Audrey way that Audrey immediately shooed away with an understanding smile.
"Well...there isn't anyone I would rather do patrol duty with than Nathan." Audrey stated, watching as Nathan's eyes give her the warmest look that Audrey matched before bringing her attention back towards her bag with a look of curiousity.
"Well...I guess we should leave you two to looking at what is inside your gifts as Dave and I need to get back to updating today's paper as well as getting ready to cover the dance tonight." Vince replied, waving goodbye towards both Audrey and Nathan as he and Dave walked out of the office.
As soon as they heard Dave shut the door on his way out, they immediately locked eyes with each other as Nathan watched Audrey make her way towards Nathan's lap and immediately take a seat on top of his lap as she wrapped her limbs around him and reveled at the feel of him leaning into her contact like he always did when she touched him.
"That is rare..." Audrey commented, pressing the back of his neck lightly with her palm as she glanced curiously into Nathan's bag until he grabbed it in his hands and reached in to grab what was inside of it.
However as soon as Nathan opened up whatever it was that he was holding in his hands and brought it up to his nose, Audrey immediately stiffened as she saw what it was that the Teagues had gotten Nathan for Valentine's Day and held her breath as she tried not to gag as the unforgiving smell began to hit her sensitive nose. Nathan immediately noticed this and gave her a concerned look as he watched her eyes began to water at the smell.
"Uh...Audrey...are you okay...you don't look well..." Nathan replied, a worried look crawling onto his face as he watched her cover her mouth with two hands.
"Nathan...trash can...gonna puke...right now...hold my hair..." Audrey managed to get out, watching as Nathan immediately grabbed the metal can filled with a trash bag and placed it in her outstretched hands before bunching up the majority of her hair in his hands as he winced at the sound of her redecorating his trash can.
Nathan kept one hand holding her hair as he allowed his other hand to travelled down to soothingly rub her back as she continued to throw up what looked to be her breakfast from earlier that morning, he continued to rub her back until she slowly moved her face away from the trash can as she set it down with a weak moan before being hit with a wave of dizziness as she grabbed onto the arm that was connected to her hair in order to keep from slipping off his lap.
"Nathan...um...do me a favor and kindly hide that box of scents in an area that it won't risk assaulting my pregnancy sensitive nose before I make the cautious move of moving from the position of being bent over your lap." Audrey stated breathlessly, feeling the poke of his erection against her lower belly at her careless phrasing of words of the last part towards him.
"Okay...um just a moment..." Nathan replied, removing his hand from her back momentarily to place the bag of scents into the bottom drawer of his desk and swiftly shut and locked it.
"Is it gone?" Audrey groaned weakly, as she slowly pushed herself up from her precarious position leaning over Nathan's lap.
"Umm...yeah...do you need help getting up?" Nathan replied, rubbing a hand soothingly down her back as she let out a pitiful sigh.
"Please..." Audrey replied, grabbing a hold of his outstretched hand as he grabbed ahold of her hand and slowly maneovered her up until she was pressed against him with her head buried into his neck and her hands clinging to him.
Nathan continued to hold her until he felt her go limp in his arms as he began to hear the slight sounds of her breath becoming shallow and glanced at the couch located near the door where he carefully stood up from his seat to lay her down gently on the couch.
"Nathan...where are you going?" Audrey murmured, her voice filled with sleep as he draped the blanket over Audrey's small frame.
"I'll be back...I just have to go pick up something that will help your morning sickness and then I'll be back before you know it...okay?" Nathan replied, crouching down to meet her half open eyes before caressing her hair with his fingers.
"Okay...I love you Nathan and the baby loves you as well." Audrey replied, sleepily as her eyes closed and her lips curled up into a sweet smile that was reserved only for him.
"I love you too with all my heart and until the end of time..." Nathan replied, leaning down to press a soft kiss to her lips before crouching over to where their baby was residing to press a soft kiss to her stomach and added, "...and I especially love you there...my precious little one...more than you could ever know and I can't wait to meet you when you are ready to come out so I can hold you in my arms in the way that I hold your mama in my arms."
Audrey listened to Nathan speak to the baby in the voice that she had become familiar with as being the voice he used to talk to babies with an amused look etched across her face as she stroked the back of his neck softly with her fingertips.
Nathan stayed near her stomach for a while before standing up and making his way towards the closed door where he pulled the door open and made his way out of the office but not before hearing Audrey voice call to him.
''Bye Nathan...'' Audrey murmured, falling asleep almost immediately as she felt the feather like touch of Nathan's fingers along her bare forearm as he exited the room.
''Bye Audrey...'' Nathan replied, making his way out the room with brightest smile etched across his face as he entered the bullpen of the station.
-HAVEN-
Nathan was just on his way out of the station when he passed Laverne's office and stopped to pop in for a visit where he found Laverne working on a bit of paperwork, he silently leaned against the doorway and knocked his knuckles against the glass window to get Laverne's attention.
At the sound of the knocking, Laverne glanced away from the paperwork to look over at who was at the doorway and upon seeing Nathan standing there she let out a bright smile and stood up to give Nathan a warm hug.
"Nathan...hon...what brings you by my office on this Valentine's Day morning and where is that lovely girlfriend/partner of yours?" Laverne stated, smiling as she brought Nathan into a warm embrace.
"She's a sleeping on our couch right now..." Nathan replied, looking around to ensure that no one was listening as he enter into the dispatch office and shut the door.
"Sleeping on the couch?! Is she okay...do you need me to make her some soup or something?" Laverne replied, attempting to move around Nathan in order to make her way towards his and Audrey's office before being stopped gently by Nathan's hand on her shoulder.
"She isn't sick...Laverne...she's pregnant and she had a bout of morning sickness...and I can't believe that I am going to be a father again." Nathan replied, a shocked expression that morphed into happiness as he watched Laverne take in that information.
"She's pregnant!? But I thought Jennifer Mason was pregnant...at least that was what I have been hearing around town after Dorothy from the pharmacy saw Duke buying some pregnancy tests...but I am guessing those tests were actually for Audrey.'' Laverne replied, a beaming smile forming across her as she brought him into another hug.
''Yeah...she just told me a while ago...inside a Valentine's Day card...which honestly finding out that the woman I am in love with is currently carrying my baby is the best gift that anyone could ever have given me. I've always wanted to be a father.'' Nathan replied, smiling really wide.
''Aren't you already a father...to James Cogan?'' Laverne asked, raising an eyebrow at Nathan as the mentioning of James's name causes his expression to become depressed.
''Yeah...Audrey and I have held hopes that James would one day find his way back to us in the similar way that Audrey came back to me...but no such luck considering what happened to barn after I shot Audrey's old boss...'' Nathan trailed off, a little uncomfortable at the topic of James.
"Hon...you need to quit blaming yourself for things that happened out of your control that day and be grateful that you were blessed with Audrey returning to you." Laverne replied, her voice stern as she gave a look of pity.
"Audrey actually kept telling me the same thing you just said...though I almost can't believe that she and I have been together for almost a year...at least I think it has been a year...is it bad that I can't seem to remember how long Audrey and I have been together?" Nathan asked, a little worried as he tried to remember the exact date.
"No...most couples rarely remember how long they have been together...they mainly focus more on enjoying the fun aspects that come along with being in a committed relationship...speaking of which...you and Audrey might want to be careful of what you do late at night around here because the security cameras pick up everything...and I mean EVERYTHING." Laverne stated, watching as Nathan's face pales at the mentioning of security cameras.
"Um...since when do we have security cameras in officers offices?" Nathan asked, shakily as he became uncomfortable at the thought of security getting a show from him and Audrey.
"Since Dwight became Chief...he wanted to cut down on anybody trying to break into your office in your absence since people were kind of pissed about the barn incident...don't worry there isn't any sound to the footage." Laverne stated, watching him relax a bit before adding, "...though I might add...you seem extremely expressive with her."
"Um...Audrey is different from any woman I have been with in the past because I can feel her..." Nathan stated, getting even more uncomfortable by the minute that this conversation is going on.
"Well...she is immune to the troubles...so that does make sense." Laverne stated, shaking her head in understanding.
"Speaking of Audrey...I...um...I have to go buy her something to help her morning sickness...do you happen to know what I should buy?" Nathan asked, changing the subject as he proceeded to back out of the dispatch office.
"Ginger ale and saltine crackers. It helped wonders for each of my pregnancies and I know it will do the same to help curb the nausea for Audrey and her pregnancy...and don't worry...I will keep mum about baby Wournos around here because I understand that the less people are aware about at this stage the more chances the baby has at making it to the second trimester alive...but just know that I want to be the one who helps with the baby shower planning." Laverne replied, a smile beaming on her face as she reached behind Nathan to open the door.
"Okay...I'll be sure to let Audrey know that when I see her..." Nathan stated, chuckling as he made his way out the door and all the way to the exit.
'Note to self: Let Audrey know about the security tapes that Laverne and the security crew have caught of us in our office...I knew we would get caught somehow...I guess I can thank my lucky stars that it was Laverne who came across the video and not Dwight because even though I know he supports the relationship between Audrey and I...I doubt that he would enjoy coming across us in the act the second time.' Nathan thought, climbing into the drivers seat of his Bronco and preparing to make the drive to the store.
-Haven-
The inside of the Grey Gull is crowded and loud as Jennifer makes her way through as she searches for Duke in the crowd of people around the bar, she catches his attention as he is busy refilling some woman's drink and returns the smile that he gives her with one of her own smiles as she approaches the bar.
"It seems busier around here than usual..." Jennifer commented, glancing around the resturant to see people standing around talking to one another while holding a drink of some sort and others who are sitting around sharing meals.
"Well...it is Valentine's Day and Valentine's Day is the usual holiday where alot of businesses like this tend to make alot of money by hosting drink deals...and the Gull has offered to cater tonight's annual Valentine's Day ball that Haven hosts every year." Duke stated, preparing a mixture of a alcholic cocktail before placing it in front of a customer sitting near him.
"Is there some place where we can talk...privately?" Jennifer asked, suddenly becoming serious as she locked eyes with Duke.
"Sure..." Duke stated, getting the attention of the other bartender currently working beside him, "...hey Jay...I have some business I need to attend to in my office...you don't mind taking over for me until Lauren comes in to take over helping you learn the ropes...do you?"
"No problem, Boss." Jay replied, with a nod as he took the glass from Duke's outstretched hand as Duke gestured Jennifer to walk around the bar area to follow him towards his locked office.
Jennifer made her way over to where Duke was positioned near the locked office and watched as he sifted through the ring of keys to find the one that fit his office door and promptly used the selected key to unlock the door. Duke opened the door and stepped aside to allow Jennifer to walk in first as he followed her in after and closed the door after she gestured for the door to be closed and walked past her to sit at his desk to look over some left over paperwork.
"You don't mind if I finish up this paperwork while we talk...the councilmen want it done before the dance starts tonight." Duke replied, while looking for a pen to use on the paperwork.
"No...no...go ahead...this won't take that long of a conversation." Jennifer stated, watching as Duke began filling out a spot on the form that he was focusing on.
After a few moments of silence between them and no one breaking it, Duke looked up to meet Jennifer's eyes in question as he set the pen that he was holding down to give her his full attention.
"Jennifer...what's wrong?" Duke asked, worriness settling into his voice as he didn't hear a peep from her for a while.
"Why is everyone around town under the belief that I am pregnant?" Jennifer asked, watching as the worriness drops from Duke's face only to be replaced with a look of shock and confusion.
"What did you just say..."
***And this is where we put a cliffhanger in the story...I had decided to have Laverne be aware of the fact that Audrey and Nathan were expecting since I have always thought Laverne acted like more of a mama bear towards Nathan. I will accept suggestion of how I could describe Audrey's dress that she is going to wear to the Valentine's Day ball...in order to help you guys out...her dress is going to be red and lacy.***
