Juliet screamed as Shawn fell to the ground, she would not let Shawn die again.
"HELP! HELP!" She screamed, she could vaguely hear people downstairs in the house.
"WE NEED AN AMBULANCE NOW!"
Lassiter entered the room only moment later, his gun drawn with several officers surrounding him.
He was stunned at the vision that greeted him.
"Yin's dead" Juliet answered, the question that no one had yet asked.
Lassiter was quick to react and checked the man's pulse before confirming to the rest of the officers.
"Oh God" Lassiter gasped as he recognised the body laying on the floor next to Yin. "Shawn..."
"He just collapsed! We need an ambulance pronto" Juliet screamed. "He's alive" she sobbed hysterically.
Whatever Lassiter had been expecting, this certainly wasn't it. He took control of the situation immediately and ordered one of the officers to get an ambulance team up here. The moment they discovered the explosives he called them so they were on stand by.
Another officer was assuring Allison that the danger was over and Lassiter went and hugged his partner in a brief display of emotion.
"I think Yin has had him ever since he fell" Juliet admitted sobbing, "that monster had him for months"
Lassiter's eyes widened, "He's ok". He wasn't sure if he was assuring her or himself. It was then he remembered that Henry and Gus were also outside. This was going to be a shock for everyone. He ordered an officer to remain with the body and a stretcher arrived seconds later with a team of paramedics.
"Out the way"one urged. Juliet and Allison were escorted downstairs to let the paramedics do their thing. Both in shock, they were given bright orange shock blankets.
Henry and Gus watched with trepidation. They had screamed when the explosives had blown but Lassiter had spotted them previously, realising that they didn't have time to deactivate them they cleared the area and managed to trigger it remotely so no one was injured. They had watched as a bunch of officers with their weapons drawn went racing into the building.
Henry spotted Allison first leaving the house with an officer. He raced over with a smile on his face, extremely happy to see her safe and seemingly unharmed.
"Your son" she whispered.
Henry blinked in confusion and then he spotted Juliet. Gus had already seen her and approached her first.
"Shawn" she stuttered, "He saved us" Juliet insisted, her eyes darting wildly.
Henry felt his heart build with hope, his son had saved them. That must mean he was safe and unharmed.
He felt his heart almost shatter again when he saw the body on the stretcher.
"SHAWN!" He cried out instantly.
He would recognise his son anywhere, but a body is exactly what he looked like. He was still dripping blood from a wound he couldn't see and he wasn't moving. Gus screamed in anguish and Henry thought he might collapse. Looking round it seemed that every member of the police force was in shock, moving slowly or mouths dropped open catching flies. It seemed like the only people acting quickly was the team of paramedics who were loading Shawn into the back of the ambulance, trying to save his life.
"He's my son" Henry insisted, attempting to get in to the ambulance.
" Let us do our job, Sir." The paramedic insisted closing the ambulance doors with Henry on the opposite side to his son.
"But" Henry began to argue.
"Please, we are trying to save your sons life" the paramedic insisted.
Henry took a step back, he couldn't lose his son again.
The paramedic nodded and raced round to drive, "Meet us at St James"
Henry gave a weak smile at the confirmation of the hospital. He was going to follow his son.
The officers were buzzing after they got over the shock that Shawn was still alive and were quick to gossip and pity him. Henry overheard them as he was making his way to the truck with Gus,
"Poor guy, do you think he's been with Yin since he died?" Henry tensed trying not to think about it. He just needed to see his son again, breathing.
The busy atmosphere had turned into a semi calm one. Yin's body wasn't treated as a crime scene, it was clearly self defence and both Allison and Juliet insisted on the body being Yin. Both woman insisted they were fine and they didn't want to go to hospital, paramedics agreed that they were physically fine. Instead they were escorted to the station so they could make an official statement and relax in a safe environment.
It didn't seem very relaxed. The news had already managed to get hold of the story. It seemed like the entire world suddenly was aware that Shawn Spencer had seemingly returned from the dead and killed the serial killer Yin. They speculated that Yin had somehow planned Shawn's death so he could be kidnapped without the police searching for him. It was horrible to think that he had been held captive for so long.
"Our latest reports confirm Shawn Spencer is currently fighting for his life at St James' hospital. All of us here pray that he makes it"
Juliet cried softly on the sofa in the conference room. "You better make it"
Part of her still couldn't believe it, it seemed too unreal. Must have been a dream. Lassiter was still away dealing the majority of the paperwork and trying to avoid the reporters that were crowded around the station. Part of her wanted to be at the hospital with Shawn but she knew that she wouldn't be able to handle seeing him right now, and that was even if they let her see him. Instead she was content to stay with Allison. The Chief had told them that her mother's flight had gotten in at midday and she was on her way to the station. Allison had been staying at the dorm rooms of her university away from her parents. It was about time that she saw them again.
Meanwhile at the hospital, Henry and Gus found that they weren't allowed past the waiting room. Henry was a stubborn man, he wouldn't leave his son. He grabbed himself a cup of coffee and sat down to wait. He would wait until there was news, he would wait until he could see his son. He wasn't leaving.
Gus on the other hand felt a lot more agitated. He paced nervously, only stopping when Henry shot him a look.
"You're making me nervous" he grumbled.
"Nervous? I'm terrified" Gus admitted, sitting down next to Henry.
Henry simply nodded, he shared the same feeling. The feeling that he could lose his son all over again.
"When you told me about the email... I hoped I would see him again" a tear rolled down Gus' cheek. "But not like this... I can't lose him again"
"Neither can I" Henry admitted.
They waited in silence for the next twenty minutes before Gus jumped up in agitation.
"I'm gonna see Buzz" he decided, "I'll be back"
Henry just nodded, slowly drinking his coffee still. Part of him wished he had the foresight to bring food, it was approaching tea time and he was beginning to get hungry. He wouldn't be leaving the hospital though so he would have to get something from the hospital cafe. Not yet though, he would put it off as long as possible.
Time passed as a blur. He didn't even notice when Gus returned, with an energy bar from the nearest vending machine. It wasn't until Gus opened his that Henry smelled the food and snapped out of his trance.
"Thanks" he grumbled.
Gus simply nodded and waited with him. Henry's phone constantly buzzed with text messages wanting updates. Every time he responded numbly, no update yet.
Henry glanced out side the window and noted it was dark, he checked his watch that read 20:30. He had been at that hospital for hours now. His mind flashed back to the news that had been playing when they arrived, speculating that Yin had planned everything and kept Shawn captive. Henry hoped with his whole heart that it wasn't the case. He didn't know what he would do if it was. Shawn would never forgive him. Henry was convinced he had died, he had mourned him, he never once went looking for him. Never tried to rescue him from Yin's clutches. He almost sobbed at the thought. But right now that didn't matter, what mattered is that Shawn made it through.
Everyone else in the waiting room knew immediately who they were and attempted to offer sympathies when they arrived. Gus had replied with a kind thanks and Henry had nodded.
"Family of Shawn Spencer"
Henry bolted upright straight away and Gus not a second later.
"That's us" Henry insisted forcefully, "Is he ok?"
The doctor gave a tight smile, "He's stable for now"
Henry could have cried with relief. Gus did.
"Can I see him" Henry asked brokenly.
The doctor looked oddly sympathetic, it was definitely past visiting hours.
"Please" Henry pleaded, "He's my son"
The doctor pursed his lips, "One visitor only... five minutes"
Henry looked towards Gus, his asking not for permission but for forgiveness.
"Go" Gus urged.
The doctor and Henry left leaving Gus the one who could finally send the text to the Chief saying he's stable. Henry's with him now.
