"We're not going to follow" Shawn instructed, "Take us back to the Movie theatre… there's something I need to see"

Henry accepted his sons instructions without question and drove them quickly to the movie theatre, he pulled up directly outside but Shawn motioned him to keep going.

"Drive slowly and keep to the edge"

Shawn's eyes were glued to the window, looking for the address that had been on the profile board of Mary Lightly's residence.

"Stop" Shawn whispered gently.

Instantly the truck lurched to a stop and Henry clambered out and marched up to the house.

Gus looked at it dubiously, "Where are we?... and what are we doing here?"

"This is Mary Lightly's address… and I have a psychic hunch that he isn't home" he finished cheekily.

Gus rolled his eyes and smiled. He appreciated Shawn's effort to make him feel more comfortable, he had really missed his best friend.

"What are we waiting for then" Henry grumbled under his breath and he marched to the door ready to force it open, but it swung open of its own accord, unlocked.

Henry paused and readied his gun which he had brought with him in his pants.

Shawn let his father take the lead as they approached the first room, a rustling noise distracted them and they followed the sound.

"Ben?" Shawn exclaimed shocked.

Gus gave an exasperated sigh.

Henry made his way round into the other rooms as Gus and Shawn searched.

"Do we like pie he asks?" Shawn repeated, quoting something that Mary had asked them when they first met. Gus followed his gaze and looked up at the ceiling. The digits of pie were looping around the ceiling.

Gus gave a small chuckle, "I'm surprised you even know the value of pie" Gus teased.

Shawn suddenly became a lot more solemn.

"Yeah…. I guess there's a lot you don't know about me" Shawn admitted.

Gus just gave him a look.

"I'm sorry Gus…. I'm really sorry I never told you"

"Look its fine and I'm really glad your back but we can talk about this after we've stopped Yin"

Shawn looked at him seriously which freaked Gus out not to see the usually goofy or cocky smile.

"You know it's weird, I'm stood right here but it doesn't feel like I'm back, well I know I'm here but it doesn't feel like Shawn Spencer is yet. Normally I'd make more jokes and mess around but I don't want to put you or anyone else in danger. What happened last time with Maddie…. I mean she barely knows me and I got her kidnapped! This is really serious and I am not going to let Yin hurt anyone I care about" Shawn spoke passionately.

"You say that Shawn Spencer isn't back yet" Gus repeated calmly, "Then who am I speaking to?"

Shawn looked at the floor, "I don't know"

"I do" Gus stated calmly, "I'm speaking to my best friend, a good and caring man and though I may not know his name, I would trust him with my life"

"Thanks buddy" Shawn whispered, a small smile on his face.

"I just wish that you could always be you" Gus thought to himself.

Shawn tilted his head, "What do you mean?"

"Henry told us about Shawn Spencer, how is his son died from Leukimia"

Henry had been about to open the connecting door but froze and listened closely.

"Oh" Shawn spoke. Shocked and frozen still.

"At first I thought it was horrible that they would just recycle his identity like that but then I realised who you are"

Shawn blinked but didn't speak.

"Your name may not be Shawn Spencer but have no doubt you are Henry's son. That is who you are and I wish you didn't have to pretend to be someone you're not"

"Gus…."

"I hate the CIA for doing this to you…. Henry said you were just a kid when you started working for them. Meaning when we met you were already…."

Shawn wisely said nothing.

"And despite the fact you often act like an idiot, I know you're a bloody genius so why? Why did you even agree to work for them?" Gus said, his voice level raising.

Shawn gave a small smile "You know me Gus, I'd do anything for those I care about"

Henry gave a small gasp from where he was hidden behind the door. That once sentence had confirmed something for Henry that he hadn't wanted to accept. Shawn must have a family. Henry had been foolish to hope that he was Shawn's father but hearing that one sentence made Henry realise that Shawn must have others that care about him. He had been selfish, wanting to keep Shawn all to himself when all this time he was taking Shawn away from his actual family.

Gus blinked startled, "You mean.."

"Boys!" Henry interrupted, not wanting to hear a word more, "You're going to want to see this"

Henry led them through to the next room and opened the wardrobe in the far corner.

"Whoa" Shawn exclaimed,

"Hell no" Gus echoed, for what they were looking at was a shrine to Shawn Spencer, with notes much like the first two clues, a location reading 736 Port Avenue Industrial Lane.

"A note that hasn't been received yet" Henry grumbled quietly to himself, "We need to check this place out"

Shawn nodded, "First we need to catch up with the others at the station. We'll say your tyre blew"

"So Mary… is Yin" Gus stated out loud.

"It almost seems too convenient" Shawn stated.

"Let's go" Henry instructed as his phone began to ring. He looked at the caller ID and saw it was the stoic detective Lassiter

"Spencer" Henry gruffed out in greeting.

"Where the hell were you?"

"Our tyre blew, see you back at the precinct" Henry answered calmly.

"What a-"

Lassiter hung up.

Henry raised his eyebrows, the question of what they had missed was flying in the air around them.

"Let's go" Shawn ordered.

The other two men nodded and made their way back to the truck, careful not to further disturb anything and the residence of Mr Lightly.

They didn't speak for the majority of the trip back to the station. Shawn was deep in thought, why was Yin making a move now? What did he gave to gain? Most importantly, what did Mary have to do with this? It was almost too convenient for him to be Yin. He wished he had got here sooner, Shawn didn't enjoy playing catch up very much at all.

Lassiter was quick to shout at them when they arrived back at the station but it was the Chief's expression that worried Shawn.

"Shawn, someone's on the phone for you in my office" she told him sternly.

Shawn frowned before he realised who it would be and went through to answer the phone. He closed the door behind him so he couldn't be disturbed.

Meanwhile, the others were arguing.

"How could you have missed him" Henry grumbled.

Lassiter scowled in response.

"Yin's probably rehearsed that a thousand times" Mary commented, "it's all a game to him"

Juliet rubbed her hair in annoyance.

"Well perhaps if you had performed basic vehicle maintenance on your truck every once in a while we wouldn't be in this mess" Lassiter spat.

"CARLTON" Juliet screamed, "that's not fair"

"Detectives" the Chief reprimanded them sternly. Both detectives looked solemn.

It was at that moments that Shawn emerged from the Chief's office looking suitably sheepish.

"Everything ok Shawn?" Mary asked.

"Yeah" Shawn responded with a smile, "everything's fine"

With a civilian amongst them, everyone knew not to question it and they began to talk once more about the case.

"Can I crash with you tonight Gus, i wanna rewatch Psycho" Shawn beamed, like no pressure was on his shoulders at all.

Lassiter's face went red at the mere suggestion.

"We should be catching a psycho" Lassiter spat, "not watching movies"

Juliet sighed, "This is his game, what can we do?"

Shawn nodded in agreement, "It is his game, we can only assume that the first test was just a power play. Something to prove that he's in control. That he's better than us"

All attention was on Shawn, Mary's eyes narrowed on Shawn slightly suspiciously.

"We weren't meant to catch him" Juliet realised.

"Not today" Shawn agreed with her.

"I think the best plan of action is to get some rest so when he reaches out again, we can be ready" Shawn said determinedly.

Mary nodded in agreement, "sounds good. I've gotta feed Ben anyway"

"Meet first thing in the morning then" The Chief suggested. "We don't know what his game is...but we will find out"

Mary was the first to leave and Juliet was quick to collect her things, along with a couple of Hitchcock DVD's to study when she got home. Lassiter gathered all of the files he had collected and the Chief made her way over to Shawn who was making small talk with Gus and Henry.

"Why don't you both stay at mine tonight" Henry suggested. "I...uh. I've missed having you home"

Shawn's heart melted a little at that and looked at Gus who had nodded in agreement already.

"Sure, I'll grab some things and head straight over"

"Mr Spencer" the Chief greeted Shawn. Henry's eyes perked up upon hearing his name but realised quickly he wasn't the intended target of the conversation.

"I just wanted to check that everything was ok...the phone call in my office" she clarified.

Shawn smiled before shrugging his shoulders a little sheepishly.

"Yeah, I might have neglected to inform some people I was coming back"

"Shawn" Henry admonished.

Shawn gave a nervous laugh, "it's fine. They understood when I told them what happened"

The Chief nodded, "forgive me for asking but they sounded... pissed"

Shawn winced, "yeah well...I knew they wouldn't let me come back"

The Chief recoiled like she had been struck and so did Henry. Gus just looked confused.

"What why?" Gus questioned.

Shawn sighed and shook his head. "It doesn't matter, I'm here now and I wanna go home"

The Chief nodded, knowing she wasn't going to get any more from him and dismissed him.

Henry was lost in thought for a moment, why wouldn't they want Shawn to come home? Was he involved in something else? Was he in trouble.

"You know I'd do anything for you son" Henry reminded him gently.

Shawn gave him a playful smack on the arm.

"Daaad" he moaned, causing Gus to laugh.

A/N I wonder if anyone knows where I'm going with this. I would love to hear theories. I'm trying to provide little hints as I go.

like... why did Shawn ask to be dropped off at the psych office? What was Yang talking about? Who was that on the phone?
