Rachel found Santana downstairs mixing various bottles of alcohol in the kitchen. "Santana?"
"Yeah?" Santana asked.
"Why do you and Quinn always act like that around each other?" Rachel questioned softly. She didn't know if she had pushed to much since Santana hadn't spun around and curse her out, but she stilled her movements.
Santana let out a slow breath and turned to Rachel, leaning her back against the counter. "Act like what?"
Rachel paused, unsure what to say. "I, well, it just seems like a rivalry, but to a drastic extent. You guys butt heads all of the time, yet you still remain friends. The complexity of your relationship with Quinn has me admittedly stumped." Rachel finished lamely.
Santana rubbed her arms, her gaze landing softly on no particular item every so often. "I don't know. I remember being great friends with Quinn in elementary, but when we got to middle school, everything changed. Everyone changed. Not to say that's a bad thing, but I suppose it was for us. We fought, we argued, we cried, we laughed, we joked around. It's our thing, y'know? I mean, I don't think there are many things that will turn me completely way from her. She's someone who has cracked my mask, and I tend to keep those that do close to me, if that makes sense."
Rachel gave her a small smile and wrapped her arms around Santana. "It makes sense, don't worry. I just wish you guys were a bit more friendly towards each other. Otherwise these arm wrestling days will turn into you spending the rest of your days in the state penitentiary."
Santana broke out laughing. "Whoa, now! It's not that deep! Just because we have some friendly scuffles doesn't mean I'm gonna take Bambi's head off!"
Rachel broke the hug and huffed. "Frustration can build up and mistakes can be made!" She defended.
"Yeah, well frustration can build up and maybe you can finally get Fab-laid." Santana smirked.
Rachel gasped and swatted Santana's arm, embarrassment reaching its highest peak. "Don't you even insinuate those things while she's here, Lopez! I don't need you scaring her off."
Santana rolled her eyes. "Puh-lease. I couldn't scare her off if I told that Satan himself was residing here in your home. I think Quinn likes the taste of your berries, Berry."
Rachel had had enough and she put her hands over her ears, yelling "La la la la! I can't hear you and your disgusting accusations!"
The Latina followed in suit, trying to pull Rachel's hands off her ears. She continued to describe what Rachel would do to Quinn up until the girl named came down the stairs, a dark blush adorning her porcelain features.
Santana kept the same godforsaken grin on her face but ceased her vulgar descriptions. She knew Berry was seconds away from crying and possibly screaming, so she decided to play innocent. "Have a nice shower, Quinn?"
Quinn's lips moved to speak, but faltered shamefully. "Well, it was nice, I s'pose..." Her voice oddly quiet.
Rachel glared at Santana and harshly whispered, "Looks like I'll be the one headed to the state pent., huh?"
Santana bit her lip to keep from laughing and ruffled Rachel's hair. "Ah, always the joker, short stack. Where's B?" Santana asked, quickly changing subjects when she spots the questioning look on Quinn's face.
"She's in the shower now. Did she bring a change of clothes?" Quinn asked, her questions falling off her lips.
Rachel cleared her throat and her voice adopted all formality. "I think Santana will be able to find her something upstairs." She turned to Santana with a emphasis on her stare.
Santana looked back at her blankly. "What?"
"Go!" Rachel hissed.
Santana gruffed and rolled her eyes, muttering, "Nobody asks if Santana has anything to wear. Guess I'll have to just run around naked, damn."
Quinn smirked and leaned over to Rachel. "You don't want to see that, trust me."
Rachel put her hand over her mouth and stifled her giggling, though she was more distracted by the feeling of Quinn's breath on her ear. She shivered deliciously, then broke away from Quinn's stance. "Would you like to watch a movie, Quinn?"
Quinn arched her eyebrow at Rachel's sudden change in attitude. "Sure. What do you have?"
Rachel led her into the living room, gesturing to the many stacks of movies on the shelves. "Take your pick! They're all alphabetically categorized and separated into certain genres."
Rachel watched as Quinn read the movie titles, her hand lingering one at a time. She sees Quinn pull out a few, then put them back, seemingly uninterested in them anymore. Finally, Quinn's searched is finished and she shows off her catch. "How about Pride and Prejudice?"
Rachel clapped her hands together and grinned. "I didn't figure you for a lover of these types of movies."
Quinn scoffed. "Romance movies? These are my shit, Rach. Especially ones based in an older time period."
Rachel swooned and swiftly put the movie into the DVD player. She started the movie and went into the kitchen to fix some popcorn, thinking Quinn would probably want some. She sat the bowl in Quinn's lap and sat beside the blonde, pulling her legs up to her chest. After some time, she glanced over a Quinn who seemed to be mouthing the words the actors were saying. She tried to hold in her laughter but failed miserably.
Quinn huffed, a soft blush appearing on her face. "I told you I liked these kinds of movies, Rachel."
"Yes, but that doesn't mean you know every single word." Rachel said, adopting a smug grin. "Just how many times have you watched this movie?"
Quinn's blush only seemed to darken. "..." she mumbled.
"What was that, Quinn?" Rachel asked.
"...Thirteen times." Quinn confessed.
Rachel's jaw dropped. "Thirteen times?"
"...This year." Quinn confessed again. She hid her face behind the popcorn bowl, only to be brought out by Rachel.
Rachel smiled softly before saying, "There is no shame in re-watching the same movie many times. Heck, I bet I've watch Funny Girl more than the times I've sang!"
Quinn rolled her eyes in disbelief. This girl sang every minute of the day. Nevertheless, she was soothed by Rachel's words and she leaned her cheek into Rachel's touch. The soft thumb traced along her cheekbones, then her jaw. Quinn's eyes fluttered to a close, soaking up as much of this moment as she possibly could until Rachel pulled away. Her eyes opened to see brilliant chocolate orbs shining with a matching movie star smile. Quinn quickly avoided her gaze and shoved a handful of popcorn down her mouth, choking from the one piece that stuck to her throat. Gentle hands patted her back until she could finally breathe again. Quinn muttered her thanks and turned her attention back to the TV screen. Her thoughts were of nothing but Rachel until Brittany and Santana came into the living room, looking as disheveled as ever.
Rachel gawked at the sight. "Please tell me that you guys did not just engage in sexual activities in my house."
Brittany bit her lip and shrugged. "Does your shower count as being in your house?"
"And the guest room too?" Santana piped in shamelessly.
Rachel's eyes grew to the size of saucers. "Santana fucking Lopez, I will call your mother!"
Santana paled and shook her head. "I was kidding! Come on, what's the big deal?"
Quinn continued eating her popcorn, her face clearly displaying the amount of joy she was receiving from this. "Don't go fucking around in people's houses, Santana."
"The 'big deal' is that you had sex with Brittany in my house! Not to mention you didn't even ask!" Rachel growled.
Santana tried to find a way out of Rachel's wrath, so she chose a different tactic. "Look, I'm sorry. I should've known to ask you before I did something like that. It was disrespectful and I apologize." Santana spoke softly.
Quinn was beyond shocked when she saw Rachel's anger subside and was placed with a weary smile. "What?! You're going to let her off just like that?"
Rachel turned to Quinn and smiled. "It was a small miscommunication. It's okay, Quinn, really."
Santana stuck her tongue out at Quinn, but quickly schooled her features when Rachel turned around. "You're in the doghouse, Lopez. Don't mistake my grace for naivety."
Santana grimly nodded and stretched out on the twin couch opposite of the one Quinn sat on. "So, movie night?"
Brittany's bubbly smile returned and she ran over to the movie shelf. "Can we watch a Disney movie?"
Rachel's expression mirrored hers. "After Quinn's movie, we most certainly can!"
Quinn fought to smirk at innocent Brittany's pout, but remained stone-faced. Well, up until Rachel plopped down on her much like Brittany had done to Santana.
As she snuggled into Quinn's side, Rachel couldn't help but feel like it was a perfect fit. Despite Quinn's probable sexuality, she kept her feelings for her. Rachel was smart and knew to carry her heart close, but maybe it will be worth it.
Besides the fact that Santana called Pride and Prejudice a "gay snooze-fest" and the arguing from Quinn's side that it was "a love story transcending across centuries", Rachel's first movie night with people other than her fathers was a success. It got even better when Quinn put her arm around Rachel's shoulders and muttered, "Good night".
A/N: It's been brought to my attention that a lot of people aren't happy with the roles I've assigned Brittany and Santana in the story. I understand that, so as I write and edit my story, I will take that into account. However, I believe that in time the pieces will all fall into place and that the shitty intro chapters will make sense in the future. As for the relationship between Santana and Rachel, things are going to get more intimate, but not to the point where Rachel falls for Santana because, as I've stated, it is a Faberry fic. Brittana is definitely going to be in this story, but it won't be the main focus, if that makes sense. It will be a sub-story within the main story. Think of it like side quests on a video game, but you're still playing the main game. I apologize if my writing is misleading, which I can understand that it is, but please stay along for the ride. As for the updating, holy shit I am so sorry. Really, I don't have any excuses. I appreciate the many followers and reviews I've received over my absence (hope I'm not the only one who has to reread these chapters to have the new one makes sense, yikes!) Enjoy.
