Situationship Chapter 5

Author's Note: I know many of you wanted me to continue with the wedding argument but the idea behind Situationship is to show you glimpses of our Keenler pair as they navigate various situations and their relationship with each other. Let me know your thoughts with a review.

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB

Ressler sat next to her hospital bed holding her hand. The fucking suspect had run his truck right into the passenger side of their car at full speed and she went unconscious in the accident. He had acted a little…

"How's she doing?" Aram asked as he walked into the room with two coffees.

Ressler dropped her hand and turned to take his coffee from him.

"Still asleep," Ressler said before he took a drink of the hot liquid.

"The doctors said she should be awake," Aram said.

Ressler shrugged.

"How are you doing?" Aram asked.

"Fine, why?" Ressler asked.

Aram looked uncomfortable.

"Uh, Mr. Cooper said the suspect has hired a lawyer," Aram said.

Ressler sighed.

"He's…uh…"

"Just spit it out Aram," Ressler said.

"He's got quite a few injuries from…the incident," Aram said.

"I was…not myself," Ressler said.

"And his face will confirm that," Aram chuckled nervously. "There will probably be a hearing."

Ressler nodded and looked back at Liz.

"Uh, can I ask," Aram said. "What's been going on with you and Liz lately?"

"What do you mean?" Ressler asked, thinking about their fight at the wedding and then the making up that happened for an entire week afterwards. He hadn't slept much and spent almost every minute he wasn't working naked with her.

"You're just…different," Aram said looking at him carefully. "And today…uh, you just snapped."

Ressler chuckled.

"Ressler…" Liz's weak voice said from the bed. He stood and leaned over her smiling and filling her vision.

"Well, hello sleeping beauty," he smiled down at her.

"This is a very familiar sight, but not the beeping or the bright lights," Liz said with a smile.

He chuckled and she reached out a hand and held his cheek.

He pulled back slightly and looked to the side.

"Aram is here to see you," he said.

She looked at him confused.

"Hey Liz," Aram said as he approached her bed and Ressler stepped back.

"Hey," Liz said groggily.

"You got quite the bump on the noggin," Aram said with a smile.

"He came outta nowhere," Liz said with a chuckle and then a wince.

"You have a dislocated shoulder," Aram said. "And a concussion and a few broken ribs."

"Is that all?" Liz chuckled and then gasped from the pain.

"Maybe you need some more meds," Ressler said as he walked from the room to call a nurse.

"He's got a sling," Liz said as she looked back from Ressler leaving the room to Aram.

"Broken hand," Aram said.

"From the crash?" Liz asked.

"No, he broke it on the suspect's face," Aram said nervously.

It took Liz a moment to process what Aram had said and then she sighed.

"He's going to get in trouble for that," Liz said, trying to sit up but not doing a very good job of it.

"Maybe you shouldn't…" Aram said.

Ressler walked back in the room with her nurse.

"Liz, what the hell are you doing?" Ressler said as he moved quickly to her side. "You need to lay back down."

"Ms. Keen, you need to move slowly and…" the nurse started.

"I'm fine," Liz said, swatting Ressler away.

"Oh, you are, are you?" Ressler chastised her.

"As good as you," she said looking at his arm in a sling. "Wanna talk about that?"

He narrowed his eyes at her and huffed.

"Yeah, that's what I was thinking," Liz scoffed. "You're going to get yourself fired."

"Why don't you let me worry about me?" Ressler snapped back.

"So, how about I examine…" the nurse interrupted them.

"Who else will worry about you?" Liz asked him.

Ressler deflated in front of her, and her face softened.

"Ressler…" Liz sighed.

"Fine," he said as he leaned over her and helped her sit up.

"Thank you," Liz said after he got her into position. "My head is killing me."

"Should she lay down?" Ressler asked, worried.

"No, laying is worse," Liz said as she watched the nurse inject more pain meds in her IV.

Aram fixed some pillows behind her.

"Thanks," Liz said to everyone.

Ressler sighed and patted her hand.

He stepped back and looked at the nurse.

"What other tests does she need?" Ressler asked.

"We've done all of the ones ordered," the nurse said. "She needs to be monitored for her concussion."

Ressler nodded.

"Can I be discharged?" Liz asked.

"If someone can monitor…"

"He can," Liz said nodding toward Ressler.

The nurse and Aram looked at him.

"Yeah, I can make sure she's okay," Ressler said as he cleared his throat.

Liz smiled at him.

Ressler left with the nurse to get her discharge papers sorted and Aram sat down in the chair next to Liz and handed her some water.

He was smiling at her.

"What?" Liz asked him, smiling.

Aram chuckled.

Liz furrowed her brow. "What?"

"You and Ressler," Aram said with a huge smile.

Liz's face betrayed her. She had too many drugs in her system to lie.

"Aram…" Liz sighed.

"This is so exciting," Aram said his face animated as he stood from his chair.

"Please don't…Aram, it's complicated," Liz said, her voice getting thick from the drugs.

"Oh, I'm sure it is," Aram said, practically bouncing on his feet now.

"Don't say anything," Liz said, her eyes getting heavy.

"Ressler may kill me if he thought I knew and wasn't supposed to," Aram said, nervously.

Liz closed her eyes and let her head fall back against her pillow.

"Your secret is safe with me, Liz," Aram said to her.

"What secret?" Ressler asked from behind him.

"Uh, what she's getting you for Christmas," Aram said quickly.

Ressler walked further into the room and saw her laying propped up and asleep.

"She just knock off from the pain meds?" Ressler asked.

"Yeah," Aram nodded.

"You may as well go Aram." Ressler said as he carefully slid off his sling and then gingerly removed his suit jacket throwing it over the hospital chair next to her bed. "She'll be out for a few hours and then I'll get her home."

"Should I tell Mr. Cooper that…?" Aram started.

"I already called him," Ressler said as he loosened his tie and undid the top button of his shirt. "I'm taking a couple of days off."

"Oh, good," Aram nodded. "Good."

Ressler looked at him. "Everything okay?"

Aram swallowed hard and nodded. "Yeah, everything is good. Glad you are staying with Liz and taking care of her."

Ressler carefully put his sling back on.

"Night Ressler," Aram said with a slight wave.

"Thanks for coming by," Ressler said absently as he pulled the chair closer to Liz and sat in it.

Aram took one last look at them and walked from the room. It wasn't until he got to the hospital lobby that he forgot to tell Ressler that they got the prints back and they were a match. He turned and walked back to the elevator to go back to Liz's room.

"I forgot," Aram said as he walked into the room and noted that Ressler was sitting holding Liz's hand with his and leaning his forehead on their joined hands.

"Shit," Ressler said as he sat up, let go of Liz's hand and wiped at his eyes.

"Oh, uh, crap…" Aram stammered.

"I thought you were gone," Ressler said, annoyed at being caught holding her hand so intimately and crying.

"I was but…uh, the prints were a match," Aram said. "That's all, I just thought you should know."

Ressler nodded, not meeting his eyes.

"Have a good night," Aram said before he left the room.

To be continued…
