Hey Y'all! So this is going to be a shorter chapter. I meant to have this be a part of the last one but I just couldn't write it. Hopefully my chapters can go back to their usual length.
Millie was standing in the kitchen, arms out in front of her holding a handgun. Immediately, Dean stepped in front of Sam, John and Bobby moved in front of Dean. With the speed with which they all moved, Sam wouldn't be surprised if this was a common stance. But that was all he saw before dropping his eyes to the floor, resisting the urge to run back to the basement. As much as he didn't like it, he felt safer there than he did here.
"Where do you think you're going?" She sounded really casual, like she was teasing a date who was going out. It was unsettling and Sam couldn't hold back the shiver.
He was wrong to get his hopes up. He should've known that Millie would never let him be free. Never let him leave. He had already accepted that he would die in that basement, so having his only chance at escape blocked, any hope that he would be leaving left him.
But that doesn't mean that Dean has to stay. And Sam was going to make sure that Dean was at least getting out of here.
"Away from you." Dean retorted. Now that Sam could see him in the light, his older brother wasn't looking too good, his skin was paler and he had bags under his eyes as well as bruises and blood from the chain on his neck. The tshirt Millie had given him had small amounts of blood at the top and his belt was covered in caked blood. My blood, he realized and looked away to Bobby's feet.
"NO!" She shouted stalking forward, all four men moved back from the unhinged woman with a gun. "You are not leaving me again!"
"You are not getting any closer to my sons." John threatened, pausing Millie for only a moment.
"Oh so you must be John Winchester, Deans hero of a father." She smirked at him. "Way to go, you must earn father of the year award, Dean came out alright didn't he? The perfect little soldier, content to live in your life of revenge, but Samuel? No you could never get him to be your little soldier. That's why you kicked him out right?" Sam couldn't remember being kicked out, but maybe that's why he thought that Bobby was his father, maybe that's why he only remembered the yelling. He tried to find any denial on John's face but if it affected the older man, he wasn't letting it show. Or at least he didn't look any angrier.
"But you don't have to worry about that anymore. I trained him up better than you ever did." Her laugh was like nails on a chalkboard. "Isn't that right Samuel."
"Yes Miss." It was instinct now to respond to her, even if he hated it. Dean stood even further in front of him, blocking him from a look from his father. He didn't see it but he was sure it was a look of disappointment.
"Well we're taking them lady, and you aren't going to stop us." Bobby brought up his shotgun, aiming it at her.
"But you can't take him from me! He's mine!" She had been holding the gun in front of her so long that her hands were beginning to shake. Sam was looking up now, some instinct was over riding whatever fear he had of Millie, he kept his eyes glued on the gun. The gun that was aimed at his older brother. Millie was shouting at this point. "You ruined everything! It was going to be perfect! We could have made a great life here Dean, and you're just going to walk out on it, on me?"
"Millie trust me, I would be dragged away from here kicking and screaming, wanting to get back to you," that was definitely not what Sam was expecting to hear, "Because I wouldn't want to leave here until after I have pried your still beating heart out of your chest, until I watch the life leave your eyes, until I burned this house with you inside to the ground. Because nothing would make me happier."
Millie looked stunned for a moment, almost as if she realized that Dean really didn't love her. Then determination took its place. "Fine if that's how you feel." She lowered the gun, "but relationships are double sided, so it's only fair that I share my feelings with you."
The hairs on the back of Sam's neck stood on end, he noticed the tightening of her hand on the gun. "I guess if I can't have you," She stared Dean dead in the eye, making sure that he received her words loud and clear, "Then no one can." Sam reacted just as she raised her hands and fired.
"Sammy!"
