It was a Thursday afternoon and Archie, Veronica, Betty and Jughead were seated at a booth at Pop's discussing the day's events.

"So how is football going Archiekins? I heard coach is choosing a captain soon" asked Veronica.

"Football's great Ronnie, coach says i have a shot at being captain!" Archie grinned.

"Thats great Arch!" exclaimed Betty.

The 4 sat there for a while longer, enjoying their milkshakes until Jughead stood and put his jacket on.

"I've gotta go guys...serpent business" he said, leaning down to kiss Betty on the head.

The others said their goodbyes and Jughead left.

"I guess i should go too, my dad'll be expecting me home soon" Archie said

"yeah, i'm kinda tired now" Veronica agreed, getting her phone out to dial Andre's number.

Archie and Veronica went outside to wait for Andre, leaving Betty alone in the booth. She sat on her phone for a while until she received a text from her mom asking her to come home. She quickly typed a message back and then left Pop's.

As Betty walked down the steps to go home, she heard voices coming from behind Pop's and paused. It was pretty late at night so not many people were out.

Betty creeped round the corner, straining her ears to see if she could hear what they were saying. There were a couple of crates that were stacked on top of each other and she hid behind them and peered round the corner to see Jughead, a serpent named Sweet Pea and Jason Blossom in what appeared to be a very heated argument.

"Im sorry Jason but this isn't enough. You were supposed to give us the full payment today" Sweet Pea hissed.

"I can get you the rest next week, i promise!" Jason pleaded.

"Jason, the serpents have already voted on what would happen if you didn't pay us on time" Jughead stated and he reached into his pocket and brought a gun.

Betty's eyes widened and she had to stifle a gasp as she watched Jughead point the gun at Jason.

"I'm sorry it had to be this way, Jason" he said and then he pulled the trigger.

BANG!

Betty shrieked as Jason dropped to the floor dead, causing Jughead and Sweet Pea to turn in her directions.

"Shit! There's a girl there!" Sweet Pea yelled, rushing towards where Betty hid.

Betty turned to run only to be grabbed by the arms and shoved against the wall by the two serpents.

"Betty?" Jughead spluttered in shock "What are you doing here?"

Betty pushed the boys off of her and moved away from the wall. "I could ask you the same thing! What the hell just happened Jug!"

"The serpents voted for that to happen. It was inevitable." he whispered.

"Inevitable?! You just killed one of our classmates! You have to turn yourself in to the police!" Betty screeched.

"Keep your voice down! Someone could hear you" Jughead hissed.

"No, i have to go Jughead. You can't just kill someone and get away with it!" Betty said and started to walk round to the front of Pop's. Jughead made no move to stop her.

"Jug, you can't just let her go to the police! We're gonna have to take her with us." Sweet Pea said.

"I know, Sweets. Go get the tape from the car and I'll get her. She's gonna put up a fight so we gotta make this quick" Jughead muttered darkly and set off after Betty.

Betty hurried around the corner and pulled her phone out. Her mother had sent her multiple texts asking where she was. She typed a message explaining what had happened and where she was and was about to press send when she felt two strong arms wrap around her waist and pull her back.

"Get off me!" she shouted, kicking out at her attacker.

"Did you really think we'd let you go after what you just witnessed?" Jughead answered, squeezing tightly as Betty tried to dig her nails into his arms.

"What are you gonna do? Kill me like you killed Jason?" Betty challenged

"No, just shut up and come with me" Jughead snapped.

"No! Let me go!" Betty demanded.

Jughead didn't reply and continued to drag Betty round to the back of Pop's whilst Betty kicked and scratched and hit out at him. Betty was starting to grow tired so she tried to get someone's attention by screaming.

"Help! Somebody help! I'm being kidnapped!" She screamed out, hoping that someone would hear and call the police.

Jughead clamped one of his hands over her mouth. "I told you to shut up" he seethed.

When they got to the car - which was parked at the back of Pop's - Sweet Pea was waiting with a roll of tape. "What took you so long?" he asked.

"I told you, she's not easy prey. Now help me with her" He answered as he pushed a struggling Betty up against the car.

Sweet Pea helped Jughead to restrain Betty and tie her arms and legs together. He then held up a black hood. "Do we need this?" he asked.

"Yes, put it on her. I don't want her knowing where she's going" Jughead told him.

Sweat Pea shoved the hood on Betty's head and bundled her into the trunk and Jughead pulled out a syringe from the car.

"What's that for?" enquired Sweet Pea.

"Do you really think we can keep her awake in the trunk?" answered Jughead.

Betty was smart enough to know what that meant and started to panic and squirm away from the voices. "No, please, i'll stay quiet" she begged.

"Too late for that, Betts" Jughead stated, jamming the needle into her shoulder and shutting the trunk.

Betty started to lose consciousness almost instantly. She felt the car doors shut as Sweet Pea and Jughead got into the car and she felt the engine rumbling as the car drove away from Pop's before everything went black.
