Chapter 18: Knocking Heart

Forgiveness is earned, Did FP really think he could forgive her? Honestly, he didn't know the answer. She really hurt him by not telling he was going to be a father again. Okay, Charles was a different story, he was a player and they were just hooking up back then. Now, it was a different, she lied to him for months, kept it a secret. He wasn't sure if he could forgive her. Maybe one day but honestly, he had no answers right now.

He showed up for work as normal, he helped file important work stubs and go through old paperwork that Fred had requested.

The rain banged on the tin roof paneling as the papers in FP's hand slipped. His shift was not even close to be over. The rain got louder and eventually the front door of the trailer opened letting the wind beat harshly at the windows.

"FP?" Fred's voice called over the roaring wind. He sighed as he looked up and spotted soaking wet Fred standing in front of him.

"Yeah, Fred?" Fred caught the glimpse from around FP's redden eyes and instantly had a lot of questions.

"What's up, Buddy?" He tried to ask causally, but FP wasn't dumb.

"What's up? Really?" Fred's eyebrows raise as he looks at his friend with concern in his features.

"F... what's going on?" He asks one more time before he shuts up.

"Alice is pregnant.."

The room grew quiet beside the chair legs scarping at the floorboards underneath. Honestly Fred had no words to say. He was completely taken back by the confession. He looks up toward FP's haggard features and takes a minute before he places a comforting hand on FP's shoulder. FP lets out a quiet dry chuckle before he rests his hands on top of his hair.

"Shit." He hears Fred say after a moment or two in silence. "She's pregnant with your baby?"

"Yeah... that's not the worst part, Freddie." The words die off his lips and he sucks the air between his teeth before letting his hands fall onto the desk.

Fred looks cautiously at his friend, taking all the movements FP made as he took a seat next to him. FP cleared the desk, gathering all the papers and hands them over to Fred.

"Here. All filed." He curtly says before his eyes fall back onto his hands that laid on the desk.

"F..." Fred tried but his friend waved him off." Don't worry. It's all legal this time." He scoots back his chair, standing up." Now I'll be outside with the guys if you need me." FP said before disappearing through the door.

Fred sighed to himself, wondering what Alice Smith had done to make FP like this. He knew it had to something and he was about to find out what that something was.
