Chapter 6

Cervone Forest

The gang made their way through Cervone forest with Gary leading the way. It was dark with rotten trees with leafless branches. The dry grass blow in brises. Several fungus coved rocks coved the ground. The path was muddy and coved in grass making it harder to see.

"So what exact kind of people live in this forest?" asked Velma.

"At best troll thieves at worst forest dragons." Gary said.

"Like what's a forest dragon?" Shaggy asked.

"What do you by that? Have you never seen a forest dragon." Gary asked.

"We're new to his part of town and there are no forest dragons where we're from." said Fred.

"I see." Gary said as hopped over a rotten log. "A forest dragons are the most reptiles in the entire world. They breath fire and acid which can fry a person in less then fifteen seconds and are highly territorial. If they see anything that could be seen as a threat to their home, they'll attack and kill it without mercy."

"Rill." Scooby said in a worrying tone.

"I take it that would included us?" Fred asked.

"That would be correct." Gary said "So keep an eye out and if you see one then we should run."

"May I asked you something Gary?" Daphne said carrying Delisle in her arms.

"It depend on what your going to ask." Gary said.

"I was going to ask how do you and Delisle know each?" the witch asked.

"We go back a long way." Gary said. "We met during the summer of nineteen ninety-seven."

"You known her that long?" Velma asked.

"Yep, in fact I met her during her entrances exam into Takamoto Magic Academy." Gary said.

"Rs rhat ra ragic rchool?" Scooby asked.

"More of a university. It's were witches, vampires, fairies and sorcerers go to prefect their magic. I never studied there, but from what I've seen her do, I can definitely say that A's all of test." Gary said.

"Do you any of the other people who studied with her?" the vampire asked.

"I know three of them, two of them are the people who going to help you once we get to the end of the forest." Gary said.

"By the way, who are they?" asked Velma.

"Their names are Toby and Henrietta. Their great of mine and Delisle. So mention that your friends of ours and they'll help you."

"Well good to know." Fred said.

"But like who the third person you know." Shaggy asked.

"That would be her sister." Gary said darkly.

"Was she just as bad back than as she is now?" asked Daphne.

"Didn't talk to her much but when we did speak to each other well let just say it wasn't pleasant." Gary said. "Heck, Delisle even had to intervene when our arguments got to heated."

"R relieve rt. Rhe ras ra really rad remper." Scooby said.

Suddenly they heard a twig snap, it was to small to be a forest dragon but it would be something dangerous none the less. From out of the bushes from all sides ten grey, hideous trolls run towards the gang.

"Zoinks!" Shaggy said as Scooby jumped into his arms.

"Alright, give us your money and belongings and no-one get hurt." the lead troll. The gang was sorrowed with no way out, as the trolls not only had them out numbered but each troll had a gun in each hand. Then a strange smell caught Velma's attention.

"Do you guys smell acid?" she asked, but none of their noses were as strong as hers so they didn't. Gary took a sniff and recognized the smell.

"Forest dragon." he said in alarm. When the trolls heard what he said they ran as fast as they could leaving the gang to faces the dragon on their own. From the left side of the forest a large carnivorous reptile came out. It had dark brown and green scales, sharp teeth, two large wings, a spiky tale and six sharp claws three on each foot.

"Run for it!" Daphne shouted, the gang bolted as fast as the could, just missing the acid that the dragon shot out. Fred turned into a bat so he could fly as it was quicker. The dragon began to run after them thankfully the forest left little space for the dragon use his wings. Velma had an idea of how to escape the dragon.

"Gary is there any highly dense area in the forest that is in the direction of Toby's and Henrietta's?" she asked running on all fours next to Gary.

"Yeah but it's long way and I don't think his going to give up anytime soon." Gary replied.

"Well is there away to distract him?" Velma asked. The Australian thought for a moment then noticed some large rocks up ahead.

"How good your howling?" Gary asked.

"Pretty good." she said, although she wasn't too sure.

"Alright then you distract from the left, I distract from right and you five hide behind those rocks over there." Gary said pointing to the rocks.

"Like is a good idea?" Shaggy asked.

"Do you have a better idea." Gary asked.

"Ok, will go with your one." Shaggy said.

"Alright, will spilt on three." Gary said. "Ready?" the gang nodded "One, two, three!" the gang spilt up heading in their respected directions, confusing the dragon.

Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby and Delisle hid behind the rocks, trying their best to not be seen by the large reptile. The dragon was getting closer to rock, but then stop as a large howl filled the air. The dragon looked to it's left and began to walk towards the sound.

A little far in the woods Velma was hiding behind a tree, she was howling at the top of her lungs. As the dragon got closer she stopped. The dragon was just about to breath fire when it heard Gary howling at the right side of the forest. It turned around and walked towards the sound as it reach the path Velma began to howl again. The dragon looked back and fourth in confusion until it eventually gave up the hunt and walked back in the direction it came from. The gang waited until the dragon was out of sight before they came out of their hiding places.

"Like Velma that was incredible." Shaggy said as they and the others continued down the path.

"It was." Gary said. "Never head a howl that loud before."

"Really?" Velma said, shocked that she had been able pull of a howl as loud as that.

"Really." Gary said.

"Thanks." Velma said. "So how long until we reach the end of the forest?" she asked.

"Ha ha, good one Velma" Shaggy said.

"What did I say?" the female werewolf said.

"Howl far" Shaggy said but Velma just rolled her eyes.

"Just a two miles from here and the good new is were past the worst of the dangers so we should be safe from here on out." Gary said.

"Great, will be there in no time." Fred said as he turned back into his vampire form.

They continued down the path feeling safer but there was still the matter of stopping Elizabeth before it was too late.
