Chapter 1.
Inside his office, headmaster Ozpin was sitting behind his desk, his usual mug in his hand with an unreadable expression. His one focus was team RWBY who appeared to be in a state of grief, the likes of which no one on Remnant has ever experience. Neither he nor Glynda were sure as to why the four girls were in such a state, or even how they got that way to begin with. He knew they weren't ready to be questioned yet. So he decided to give them some time off from any classes, at least until they're ready. Depending on how severe their condition is once they find out, then their time off will be extended until they feel ready to resume class.
As he was pondering on these thoughts he heard his door opening and saw Glynda coming in. "I take it they haven't come out of their dorm, Glynda?" He asked.
The blonde instructor shook her head with a small sigh. "No. None of them have. The only time they open the door is when their food is brought to them. Not even team JNPR has been able to get any response from them." She explains with a sad frown. She was worried for those girls, very worried. Whatever was troubling those four was something that has to be resolved.
"I see...and what of your search? Any leads?"
Glynda knew what he was talking about. The deputy headmistress brought out her scroll to show her results. "Sadly, nothing sir. I've combed through every archive, birth certificate, everything related to this 'Shinji' person team RWBY spoke of. But there's no known person who goes by that name."
Ozpin slowly nods while sighing softly through his nose. "I see...then it looks like we will have to wait for miss Rose and her team to shed some light on this."
"But sir we don't know how long it'll be until they recover...if at all."
"They'll have to, Glynda. Because I have a feeling that...there's a storm upon the horizon...one that may very well change Remnant forever."
Silence filled the room as the two professors gazed at each other with the sound of thunder rumbling in the sky. Whatever team RWBY went through, whoever this Shinji person is to them, the headmaster knew that something big was coming. For better...or for worse.
Insert opening- Kiss of Death by Mika Nakashima
It begins with a vast sea of blood as far as the eye can see, before a darken image of Eva Unit-01 appeared.
[Soba ni kite kuzureyuku yokusei]
The mech vanished to show Ruby completely bare and leaning back to the audience, before shifting to show Yang laying on her side, leaning up to gaze at the viewers.
[Boku wo kowagaranaide Ah]
Next was Blake seen holding a shadowed figure in her embrace, while Weiss was sitting on the ground before turning to the viewers. And finally Ruby was seen briefly smiling before leaning back as the screen rippled like water and various cross-shaped stars flickered across the screen.
[Tobenai tori ga yume mita sora]
The camera showed Shinji Ikari in his plug suit with a downcast expression, walking aimlessly across a red barren wasteland, before the screen flickers to show a younger version of him walking through the streets of Tokyo-3.
[Majiwatteku iro sore wa chigau red]
Team RWBY was then seen as well wearing plug suits of their own, walking beside the young pilot, as they along with the sea of red were swallowed in a spiral, Shinji's hands were briefly seen being held as were his shoulders, before he looks back at the camera, and was seen with team RWBY now closer to him, before crossing through him in an X formation.
[Doa wo tataku oto ni boku wa mimi wo fusaida]
The screen showed places from both Remnant and Tokyo-3, then Jaune was seen slicing through two Beowolves before flashing a smile at the viewers. Then Nora was seen smashing an Ursa with her hammer, before twirling it and placing it on her shoulder, flashing a victory sign at the viewers
[Tataiteru no wa kimi? Sore to mo hoka no?]
Pyrrha was seen shooting a few rounds from her rifle, while giving a surprised look at the viewers, and Ren was darting and dashing through a wave of Grimm. Then portraits of team JNPR, along with Sun, Neptune, Rei, Asuka, Glynda and Ozpin were seen flashing across the screen.
[Will your lips taste the kiss of death?]
Ruby's lips were seen licking away blood, then a shot of blood was seen being poured, before switching to Ruby holding Shinji's face and kisses him.
[Daarin unmei ga kekkan wo hashiru yo]
Shinji was then shot backwards, then catapulted into the air. During this, the background transitions from red to the sky, Eva Unit-01 then catches and placed him in the Plug before running closer to the point of view, letting out a mighty roar.
[Ugoki hajimeta sekai ...ai?]
Unit-01 lands beside Eva units 00, 02 and four other Eva units in the color scheme of team RWBY. While Misato, and Gendo were seen, before switching to places between the kingdoms of Remnant and NERV HQ, Ritsuko was seen briefly before Cinder and her team appeared and lastly Salem appears smiling before the viewers, while Ruby's eye was seen glowing brightly.
[Dare yori mo tokeaitai yo daarin]
The four Eva Units of team RWBY were seen coming together to hold something between them, before they broke apart to reveal the cockpits to Shinji. They broke apart to reveal team RWBY smiling and reaching out to Shinji.
[Boku wo kowagaranaide Kiss me now]
The girls move in and bring the young pilot in their arms, shielding him with their love as he smiles and a tear fell, then the title appears before them as everything went white and the weapons of team RWBY along with the spear of Longinus, were seen together below the title before everything faded into darkness.
Inside the dorm room of team RWBY, the four girls who suddenly re-appeared out of thin air, were an emotional mess. The skinsuits that they wore lay scattered on the ground. They had nothing on, not even undergarments. They all were seen huddled in their beds. Ruby was curled up in her blanket holding onto Yang, who held her sister close in her arms. Weiss was holding her pillow like a lifeline, a brief sob escaped her while Blake sat up on her bed holding her legs with her face buried in her knees.
The very air around them was filled with misery, sadness, anguish and grief for the one person they were mourning for; Shinji. That was all they could think of. It had been a while since they came back from...wherever it was they came from, and none of them had left their room or spoken to anyone. Not even to Jaune or his team when they came to see what was wrong.
Ruby's eyes were dull and seemingly lifeless while holding onto Yang. A tear or two fell from her eyes as a small whimper left her. "...S-Shinji..." She sobbed silently. "...my sweet Shinji..."
Yang tightened her hold on Ruby and rubs her back with tears falling from her eyes. "...Shinny...my poor Shinny..." Yang whispered with a sniffle. "I...I know you miss him, Ruby. We all do."
Weiss bit on her lip hard enough to draw blood as the memories of what transpired flooded her mind. The pain. The suffering. The...betrayal of those she and her team considered friends. "...damn them...damn them all to hell for hurting my Shinji!" She hissed venomously over the memories of the ones who hurt the one she loves.
Blake glares into space as the faint images of Gendo, Misato, and everyone came rushing in her mind. "...I'll never forgive them...I'll never forgive any of them for hurting my precious Shinji!"
It was silent in the room again until Ruby suddenly pulls herself from her sister's embrace. She climbed out of bed which caught her teams' attention as she made her way to the mirror on the desk. Her eyes were darkened from her hair as she stood before the mirror. Her body was trembling as her breathing was slowly becoming heavy, her hand slowly closes itself into a fist before she shot her head up, glaring at the mirror with tears in her eyes and lets out a short angry cry as she punched the mirror causing it to crack.
This caught Yang, Blake and Weiss by surprise by their leader's sudden burst of anger.
Ruby kept her fist on the broken mirror as tears fell from her eyes again. "...no more..." She said so softly that none of her team heard her. "...we can't continue like this..." She pulled her fist away and double slaps her face a few times. Regaining her composure she turns to her team with a sudden renewed vigor in her eyes. "We can't keep living like this!" She exclaimed which caught her teams' attention. "We can't keep this up. Wallowing in grief and agony, Shinji would never want us to be like this! To be sad...to keep mourning for him... He would want us to keep on living and be happy! WE CAN'T JUST LET WHAT HAPPENED IN TOKYO-03 KEEP US DOWN! AND UNTIL WE SOMEHOW MEET OUR BELOVED SHINJI WE MUST KEEP ON LIVING FOR HIM!"
Her words struck the hearts of Yang, Blake and Weiss deeply. Flashes of said person flashed in their minds, the smile he would give them, the fun times they had...the wonderful memories of him...and they were letting themselves fall into despair and almost sullying his very memory. Any grief, any agony they felt instantly vanished when they too regained their composure and steeled their resolve.
"You're right Ruby. This is pathetic of us. We can't let this drag us down!" Weiss said as she got out of her bed and stood up to face her friend.
"If Shinji were here now I'm sure he would try and lift our spirits. So, we can't let our grief weigh us down." Blake stated with a small smile forming, standing on her feet with her arms crossed.
Yang gave a nod of her own with a grin while standing before her sister. "So? What's on today's list, Ruby?"
Ruby suddenly gained a very predatory grin on her lips as her eyes glowed a silvery-white. "Well I don't know about you guys, but I've got a shit-ton of frustration I want to get rid of. And I know just where we can go."
Yang, Weiss and Blake also matched Ruby's grin as their eyes glowed a blood red, blazing yellow and icy blue color while giving of a sinister chuckle.
Back inside his office Ozpin was going over on how to approach team RWBY carefully due to their mental state. In all his life as a huntsman and a headmaster, never has he seen anyone in such a state of depression. He would have to be careful. The last thing he needed were his students to suffer from whatever ordeal they went through.
His train of thought was broken when he heard the door opening, and saw Glynda coming in with a worried expression. "Glynda? What seems to..."
"Sir! It's team RWBY, they're not in their dorm!" She exclaimed to him.
Ozpin's eyes went wide as he shot up from his chair. "What?!"
Suddenly they heard a booming sound from outside. They looked out the window and saw plumes of smoke rising from Emerald Forest. "What the? What's going on?!" Glynda questions as the booming sounds echoed in the forest.
Ozpin used his scroll to bring up a video screen and it immediately showed them the carnage that was going on in Emerald Forest.
The air was filled with the sounds of Grimm dying and flesh being torn asunder as the trees and air shook from whatever was tearing through the Grimm with ease. A Beowolf was seen being sliced in half as blood erupted from the severed halves, a petite hand grasped the head of a Boarbatusk with an iron-grip and the head explodes into a bloody paste. An Ursa Major stood up with its arms wide roaring in the air only for a blur to zoom past it, and ended up bisected at the waist.
At a nearby tree a camera was seen recording the assault while back in the office, Ozpin and Glynda took in the destruction with wide eyes. Glynda grimaced and held her mouth with her hand while Ozpin remained steadfast as the attackers were revealed to be none other than...team RWBY!
Ruby was seen standing tall and proud with her face darkened with her glowing silver eyes seen, and holding onto a Beowolf by the head as mist was seeping from its corpse. Behind her were her team whose faces were also darkened with only their glowing eyes seen as Ruby drops the dead Grimm. Surrounding them were the dissolving bodies of the many Grimm that came after them from sensing their massive amount of grief, sadness, anger and rage. The four girls were practically an ocean's worth of negativity that it was enough to draw them into the slaughter.
All was quiet at first when the sounds of running footsteps were heard. Ozpin and Glynda arrived just in time as to their shock, a Beringel, suddenly pops up from behind Yang who turns around and found her head caught in the Grimm's clutches!
"NO!" Glynda cried out and was about to save her student, only for stop when she and Ozpin saw something...incredible.
The Beringel's hold on the blonde's head was slowly being pulled by Yang's hands, who gripped the Grimm's wrists in a vice-like grip. The ape Grimm growled loudly as it tried to fight against the girl's strength, but it was slowly being overpowered when it gazed into Yang's blood red gaze that made it tremble.
'Impossible...the Beringel are known for being physically stronger then some Grimm, and yet miss Xiao Long's out muscling it!' Ozpin was taken by surprise by one of his student's sudden burst of strength. Clearly there were more and more questions that need to be answered.
Ruby and the others just stood by as Yang was easily holding the gorilla Grimm's arms with zero effort. The Beringel growled louder and then howls as Yang twists its arms downward with the elbows facing up, and broke the arms by the elbows with blood spraying and bones exposed. The Grimm roars in agony from its broken arms which shocked both Ozpin and Glynda from Yang's brute strength.
"Impossible. She's stronger than before?!" Ozpin gasped.
Roaring in anger the Beringel lunges at Yang, intending to sink its teeth into her throat. But when it got within reach Yang easily caught the Grimm with both hands on its head, halting its attack.
Glynda gasped with her mouth hanging.
"What!?" Ozpin yelps.
The Beringel growls loudly as it tried to push against the blonde, but she held her ground, barely even moved from the gorilla's strength. It was like trying to push mount Glenn. Yang glared daggers at the Grimm and gave one good solid twist, breaking the Grimm's neck and a river of blood flowed from its mouth. Yang simply drops the dead Grimm and dusts her hands.
"Whew. That was a real work out!" Yang beams with a wide grin.
"I'll say. Fighting the Grimm in Emerald Forest was a good way to let off some steam." Blake smiles, feeling a little better by letting out her frustration and grief out on the Grimm.
"Indeed. I feel as though a great weight's been lifted from my shoulders." Weiss sighs with relief with her arms crossed.
Ruby finally noticed that they weren't alone when she saw both Ozpin and Glynda staring at them in awe. The others soon noticed this and saw their teachers as well. 'I somehow knew this was gonna happen. No point in beating around the bush then.' Ruby walks over to the frozen duo who snapped out of their trance when they saw Ruby walking up to them. "I suppose you all saw that?"
Ozpin blinks from the sudden...matureness in Ruby's voice. Now that he got a good look at her he could tell something was off. The same glowing sense of life and innocence she had in her eyes when he first met her was completely gone, instead her once shiny silvery eyes had become dull almost a greyish color...lifeless. But that wasn't all he saw. In her eyes he could tell she had the eyes of a veteran huntress, who had seen so much death and horrors that a child her age should never see. He slowly nods, regains his composure and cleared his throat. "Yes...we both did, Miss Rose. And we were hoping that you and your team could tell us exactly...what has happened to you four..."
Ruby looks to her teammates and seemed to have a silent conversation between them. They all nodded and she turns back to the headmaster. "We'll tell you everything when we get back to the academy. But be warned, what we're about to tell you will be beyond anything you ever heard before." Ruby told him.
Ozpin only nods and motions them to follow him and Glynda back to the academy. This was it. This was the break that both Ozpin and Glynda were hoping for. They would finally get the answers they needed from team RWBY, the question is...what exactly happened to them and what kind of hell did they go through that made them so...inhumanly strong. And for the first time in his life, Ozpin felt a little...fearful from what Ruby and her team will tell them.
Truly, a fearsome storm upon the horizon was indeed coming. He could only hope they would be prepared for its wrath.
To be continued.
Yet another chapter made, sorry if it seems like it's short but I promise you the next one will be longer. Later.
