Chapter Summary: "Especially in moments, seeing how much in love with Jee-Yun he was, she understood."

Fingertips moved along the swaddled bundle beside her, tracing along the edge of the tightly wrapped, soft lavender blanket. Her hand moved up to the matching cap on her head, lightly tracing the violet lettering inscribed in it: J.Y.B.H. She smiled softly when the baby gurgled as she her fingers lightly brushed her cheek.

Maddie decided to stop messing with her daughter before she had an agitated 5 week old on her hands. This was one little girl that didn't like having her sleep disturbed. Much like her uncle, Maddie thought fondly. Pushing herself up and leaning on her elbow, she was contented to just watch her for a bit. She knew should have been sleeping, definitely exhausted enough, but she was in the moment.

She'd begun softly singing a lullaby when she heard the sound of the front door opening and closing softly. It wasn't long before his footsteps crossed the threshold of their bedroom, she felt his hand wrapping around his waist and kiss her check softly.

"Hi."

"Hi."

Chimney went around the other side of the bed and laid down in the space on the other side of Jee-Yun, careful not to jostle and wake her. He mimicked the way Maddie was laying, propping himself on his elbow looking down at her.

"How are my girls doing?" Chimney asked with a smile, looking between Jee-Yun and Maddie.

Maddie was not amused. "I'm sure Albert's told you."

"Albert? Babe, I don't know what-" the rest of his lie caught in his throat at the sight of her glare. He sighed, "well can you blame me?"

"Yes, I can. It hadn't even been 15 minutes. Not to mention you'd just called an hour earlier," Maddie keep her voice calm, hushed, and level not disturb the sleeping baby between them.

"The phone cut off in the middle of the conversation, I had no idea what to think."

"My phone died and Jee started fussing. And I had just gotten her to sleep and getting ready to call you back when Albert started banging on the door."

"Yeah, he told me about having the door closed in his face as soon you answered." Chimney chuckled lightly.

Maddie smiled in mirth despite herself, "I eventually let him in and he told me the real reason why he was there."

"The phone cut off mid conversation and I couldn't get you back, I panicked."

"So you called Albert?" Maddie was going to mention the part Albert told her about Chimney having him "on standby", but didn't.

"That was actually the tamer option. I could have called Athena."

"Howie." Her voice was still calm and quiet, but the scold was heard in the undercurrents of her tone.

"I worry," he said softly. His face relaxed as he looked down at Jee-Yun, still at peace between them.

She reached across to grab his hand, bringing it softly against her lips, "I know. It's okay."

"Realistically, I know you guys are fine. It just," he paused and sighed, "doesn't hurt to be sure, you know?" He ran his thumb across her lip before intertwining his fingers with hers. Jee-Yun made a noise and Chimney quickly moved his hand to her tummy, rubbing soft circles.

As much his overprotectiveness annoyed her, she secretly loved it. Especially in moments, seeing how much in love with Jee-Yun he was, she understood. There was no way she could be mad or stay annoyed. "I love you," she said. The ease at which those words left her lips now will never be lost on her.

"Ditto." Meeting her eyes, he asked, "you look exhausted and could most likely use some sleep, wanna chance moving this one to her crib?"

She stifled a yawn, knowing very well he was right about her being exhausted. "Not yet. I wanna stay like this a little while longer."
