Chapter 8
The Exalt, The King, And The Giant
After their little detour they walked for a day until they reached the capital. Once they got there, Chrom and Lissa went to see Emmeryn and brought Simon, Daniel, Harper, and Theo with them, to have Simon introduce them to Emmeryn, and their Pokemon.
"Then Regna Ferox will support Ylisse?" Emmeryn said after Chrom finishing telling her what happened to them, the past week. "Thank you, Chrom. I knew sending you was the right choice." Emmeryn said to Chrom. "You should see Ferox's warriors! Perhaps now our people will be safe from-." Chrom said to Emmeryn, but was interrupted by Phila barging in.
"You Grace! M-milord! Forgive me, but I bring alarming news!" Phila said to everyone. "Phila! Slow down, please! What's happened?" Emmeryn asked Phila. "Plegian soldiers have been sighted inside our southwest border! They attacked a village in Themis and abducted the duke's daughter." Phila said to everyone. "B-but that would be… Maribelle! Chrom, we have to do something!" Lissa said to Chrom.
"Who's Maribelle?" Harper asked Simon. "I don't know much about her. I just met her before we left the capital." Simon said to Harper. "There's more: King Gangrel of Plegia claims Lady Maribelle invaded HIS country. He demands we pay reparations for this "insult"." Phila said to everyone. "And we're to believe a bastard like the Mad King of Plegia?" Chrom said to Phila, getting made. "Peace, Chrom. We must keep our wits about us." Emmeryn said to Chrom. "Especially if we're going to walk into a trap." Simon said to everyone.
"How do you know it's a trap?" Chrom asked Simon. "Easy, he kidnapped one of us, and says that she invaded him, and wants reparations. No doubt when we arrive at the meeting place to talk about this, this Mad King will have a trap ready and waiting for us. But I have no idea what he wants or why." Simon said to Chrom. "I know what he wants. He has been trying to provoke war with Ylisse at every step! He won't stop until he drags this whole continent to hell with him!" Chrom said to Simon.
"I agree with the prince, Your Grace. We must demonstrate to Plegia that such actions have consequences." Phila said to Emmeryn. "I understand your feelings, Chrom. Truly I do. But if we give him the war he wants, then we lose, no matter what the outcome. Our last conflict nearly ruined the halidom. It left Ylisseans homeless and starving. We cannot repeat that mistake." Emmeryn said to Chrom. "And if he's been poking you to start this war, then his strategy must be a counter plan." Theo said to everyone.
"Counter plan?" Lissa asked Theo. "He means a plan that revolves around your opponent, making the first move and then hitting back harder. But it only works if we make the first move." Daniel said to Lissa. "I will offer parley with King Gangrel." Emmeryn said to everyone. "Emm, no! You can't!" Lissa said to Emmeryn. "Please reconsider, Your Grace. He cannot be trusted to act in good faith!" Phila said to Emmeryn.
"So either we choose to march to war or leave Lady Maribelle to die? No. I will not accept that." Emmeryn said to everyone. "And we will stand with you." Harper said to Emmeryn, as she bowed to her. "Refusing to look the other way and let your people die. You are truly a noble leader." Theo said to Emmeryn. "Forgive me, Your Grace. I spoke out of turn. I know you will stand always by your own principles. Pray, allow the pegasus knights to accompany you, though." Phila said to Emmeryn.
"I'm going, too… Someone has to save you from your good intentions." Chrom said to Emmeryn. "And I want to be there for you AND Maribelle!" Lissa said to Emmeryn. "You can count the Trainers and the Shepherds in as well." Theo said to Emmeryn. "As you wish. Thank you all. Your strength will be mine." Emmeryn said to everyone.
After that, everyone started to get ready to go. "Well then? Is everyone ready to go?" Chrom asked everyone, after everyone finished getting ready. Everyone nodded yes. "Good. It's a long march through the westren mountains to the Plegian border." Chrom said to everyone.
Then a young man wearing blue mage rons and a super large hat, and a green book in his hands came running up to Chrom. "Captain! I'm all packed! When do we leave?! The young man asked Chrom. "Ricken? How did you… Go back inside. You're not old enough for this mission." Chrom said to the young man. "But, Captain! You know my skill with magic! You know I can handle myself!" Ricken said to Chrom. "I'd feel safer with your magic here, protecting the garrison." Chrom said to Ricken. "All right? We're off, then." Chrom said to everyone. "Be good." Chrom said to Ricken, before they all started to leave.
"Be good? Gods, how old does he think I am? Well, I'll show him just how good I can be!" Ricken said to himself. "Hold it, Ricken." A voice said to Ricken, from behind him. Ricken then turned around to see Simon standing behind him. "What is it? You're going to tell me to stay here too?" Ricken asked Simon. "And would you listen if I did. No, I have something different in mind for you." Simon said to Ricken.
After the long march, they made it to the meeting spot, the base of a large mountain with a few flat areas above them, and to keep things from getting out of hand, Pokemon hid, and everyone had their weapons away. Waiting for them were two people, one a male dressed in black and white armor, with a yellow cap and a crown, he had crazy short red hair, and next to him was a woman with long white hair, wearing small black armor with feathers in it.
Chrom, Lissa, Emmeryn, and Simon, at the request of Emmeryn, walked ahead of the Shepherds to meet the man and woman. "What's this, then? The exalt herself, in all her radiance? I fear I must shield my eyes!" the man said before letting out a wicked laugh. "King Gangrel, I've come for the truth of this unfortunate incident between us." Emmeryn said to the man. "The Truth? I can give you the truth." The woman said to Emmeryn. "Perhaps milady might first share her name?" Emmeryn asked the woman. "You may call me Aversa." The woman said to Emmeryn.
"Very well, Aversa. Is Maribelle unharmed?" Emmeryn asked Aversa. "Who? Oh yes, the little blonde brat." Gangrel said, before snapping his fingers. Then Maribelle came out of a hiding spot with her hands tied up, with a thug holding her. "Unhand me, yu gutter-born troglodyte!" Maribelle said to the thug holding her.
"Maribelle!" Lissa said to Maribelle, getting Maribelle's attention. "Lissa? Darling, is that you?" Maribelle asked Lissa. "This girl crossed the Plegian border without our consent. And what's more… She wounded the brave Plegian soldiers who sought only to escort her safely home." Aversa said to Emmeryn. "LIES! You speak nothing but lies, hag! Did they not teach the meaning of the word "truth" in wretched-crone school?!" Maribelle said to Aversa. "Does she know that she's a hostage?" Simon ased Lissa. "You see? No manners at all. Such a nsaty little bird simply had to be caged." Aversa said to everyone.
"Such a violent temper speaks to her guilt. This will call for a weighty punishment. And if she were to later confess to being an Ylissean spy? My goodness! It would take an act of CONSIDERABLE good faith to repair our relations." Gangrel said to Emmeryn. "I have done nothing wrong! It is they who should confess! They are the ones who invaded Ylisse. They razed an entire village! When I attempted to intervene, they took me and dragged me across the border. Let the plundered shops and charred homes of that village serve as my proof!" Maribelle said to everyone.
"That would only prove Ylisse has a bandit problem- Something I hear oft of late. But indeed, tonight I shall weep salty tears into my pillow for your dead villagers." Gangrel said to everyone. "Your Grace, please!" Maribelle said to Emmeryn. "Peace, Maribelle. I believe you." Emmeryn said to Maribelle. "King Gangrel, I request that you release this woman at once. Surely you and I can sort out these affairs without the need for hostages." Emmeryn said to Gangrel.
"Without so much as an apology? Why should I even bother with parley? I'm within my rights to have her head this instant and be home in time for supper." Gangrel said to Emmeryn. "You black-hearted devil!" Chrom said to Gangrel. "Control your dog, my dear, before he gets someone hurt." Gangrel said to Emmeryn, making Chrom growl. "Now then, Your Graceliness. Perhaps we can arrange a trade? You give me the Fire Emblem, and I return Mari Contrary here in one piece." Gangrel said to Emmeryn.
Emmeryn then pulled out a decorative shield, with four holes in it, and a white crystal at the top of the shield, from her robes. "You would ask for Ylisse's royal treasure? But why?" Emmeryn asked Gangrel. "Because I know the legend! The Fire Emblem is the key to having all one's wishes realized. I have desired it for years. YEARS! Yet my birthday comes and goes each year, and nothing from Ylisse." Gangrel said to Emmeryn, before laughing.
"The Emblem's power is meant for a single purpose, King Gangrel: to save the world and its people at their hour of most desperate need. Would you claim a more noble wish?" Emmeryn asked Gangrel. "I want what every Plegian wants- a grisly end for every last Ylissean! What could be more noble than that?" Gangrel asked Emmeryn. "Nothing your sick mind can come up with." Simon said to Gangrel. "What? Have you forgotten what the last exalt did to my people? Her father named us heathens! His "crusade" across Plegia butchered cuntless of my subjects and my kin!" Gangrel said to Simon.
"Is that true?" Simon asked Emmeryn. "I have never denied Ylisse's past wrongdoings. But I have sworn to never repeat those mistakes. Ours is now a realm of peace." Emmeryn said to Simon. "Yours is now a haven of hypocrisy! Now give me the Fire Emblem!" Gangrel said to Emmeryn. "Not happening." Simon said to Gangrel. "Say that again?" Gangrel asked Simon. "Look I'm sorry for what happened to your people. But what you're doing won't make things better for anyone." Simon said to Gangrel. "What about her?" Gangrel asked Simon, as he pointed to Maribelle.
"I'd sooner die than act as a bargaining chip for this filthy reprobate!" Maribelle said to everyone. "No, Maribelle…" Emmeryn said to Maribelle. "Ugh… Taaaaaaalk talk-talk-talk-talk. It's time to speak louder than words! This negotiation is over, Your Luminosity! I shall have the Emblem if I have to pry it from you shiny dead hands!" Gangrel said as he snapped his fingers, making the thug holding Maribelle go away with Maribelle, and a few of Gangrel's men charge forward. Chrom stepped forward, and attacked the first men foolish to charge at Emmeryn.
"Stay back! Or you'll suffer the same fate!" Chrom said to everyone. "Now that's a declaration of war if I've heard one… A big, messy war that will bleed you Ylisseans dry." Gangrel said before letting out a wicked laugh. While doing that Aversa left Gangrel and walked to Maribelle.
"Poor, stupid girl… Are you really worth fighting a war over? Years from now, you'll be remembered only as she who destroyed House Ylisse." Aversa said to Maribelle. "No… that's not… Oh, Lissa… Please, no…" Maribelle said. Then a gust of wind burst out from under the thug holding, sending the thug flying. That's when Ricken showed up, and untied Maribelle. Aversa looked at this with a conferred look on her face.
"Maribelle! Go! You're free!" Ricken said to Maribelle. "RICKEN?! What are you doing here?" Maribelle asked Ricken. "Just run! We can talk about it later!" Ricken said to Maribelle. "Oh, is this your little boyfriend? Isn't he just precious?" Aversa asked Maribelle. "Don't talk down to me, witch!" Ricken said to Aversa, as he opened his book and made a gust of air, pushing Aversa back. "Nngh! W-wind magic?" Aversa said, trying to recover from the gust of air. "Come on, Maribelle!" Ricken said to Maribelle. "Right!" Maribelle said to Ricken, before they started to run.
"Wretched whelp! I should… No. Our soldiers have them outnumbered. The brats will be dead long before they can reach their comrades." Aversa said before she left the battlefield.
Back with Emmeryn, Lissa, Chrom, and Simon. Chrom and Simon had their weapons out, daring Gangrel men to come at them, not that any of them did. Gangrel then snapped her fingers, and a large flying lizard, with no arms, a pair of large leather wings, and a man in armor with an axe riding it, charged at them, aiming at Emmeryn. But everyone didn't notice the man and lizard before it was two late.
But before the man could strike. One of Simon's Pokeballs opened and Copperajah came out and slammed her trunk into the Lizard, knocking it out of the sky, throwing it's rider off , and getting everyone's attention. "What is that?" Simon asked everyone, as Copperajah and the lizard roared at each other trying to establish dominance over each other.
"It's a wyvern, a very aggressive beast." Lissa said to Simon, as Chrom finished the rider. Then the wyvern shot out a fire ball at Copperajah. Copperajah barely dodged it, and the wyvern started to charge at Copperajah. "And apparently they can breathe fire. Copperajah use Heavy Slam." Simon said to Copperajah. "Copperajah." Copperajah said as she used her trunk to knock the wyvern to the ground, and then slammed her front feet into the wyvern, making a dust cloud.
"Interesting. I've heard about those powerful beasts running around. But I haven't seen one before. They're even more impressive in person. And here I thought this was going to be too easy." Gangrel said to everyone, as he left. "Lissa get Emmeryn out of here." Chrom said to Lissa. "What about you?" Lissa asked Chrom. "We'll clever you." Chrom said to Lissa. "Stay safe Chrom." Emmeryn said to Chrom, as she and Lissa left. "Ready Simon and Copperajah?" Chrom asked them. "Ready or not, here they come." Simon said to Chrom, as Gangel's men changed at them.
Then both Gangrel, and Emmeryn and Lissa made it to the rest of their forces. "I have my war! Captain Orton! Remain here, and take down as many Ylisseans as you can. Now, do your best- at doing your worst!" Gangrel said to a man on a wyvern, before leaving laughing wickedly.
"What's going on? Where are Chrom and Simon?" Robin asked Lissa and Emmeryn. "King Gangel attacked. Chrom, Simon, and Copperajah are holding them back." Emmeryn said to Robin. "We got to help them." Robin said to everyone. "What about Maribelle? We have to save her!" Lissa said to Robin. "Okay. Your Grace, stay here with Phila. Me, Vaike, Kellam, Lon'qu will go help Chrom and Simon." Robin said to everyone. "What about Maribelle?" Lissa asked Robin. "The rest of you will split up, and go find and rescue her. Then we'll meet up. And route them out." Robin said to everyone.
"And since you said help Copperajah, I guess we're bringing out Pokemon?" Harper asked Robin. "Yes." Robin said to Harper. "But they had a wyvern. They might have more." Lissa said to everyone. "A what?" Theo asked. "A Big flying lizard, a more aggressive version of a pegasus in terms of combate." Frederick said to Theo. "Then we have a problem. Most of our Pokemon are up close fighters. With the exception of Harper." Daniel said to everyone. "And even then, my pokemon that can fight at a distance, are not big enough to handle something like that." Harper said to everyone.
"Then you'll have to figure something out. Cause we got to move now. Litleo, Asbol with me." Robin said to the Trainers, as she, Vaike, Kellam, Lon'qu, Litleo and Absol left to help Chrom, Simon, and Copperajah. "Kay then I guess we're doing this. Dubwool came out." Daniel said as he let Dubwool out of his Pokeball. "I guess I'll go with Passimian." Theo said as he left Passimian out. "And Whimsicott might be a handful for these wyvern." Harper said as she left Whimisicott out.
"Okay let's save Maribelle." Lissa said as everyone scattered. With Theo, now Silver, who was now covered in silver armor, riding with Frederick, Sully, Stahl, and Passimian. Daniel left with Donnel, Virion, and their Pokemon. And Harper left with Lissa, Sumia, Miriel, and their Pokemon
Meanwhile Maribelle and Ricken, were running, not knowing where to go, and found themselves in front of a few men with bows. "End of the line kids." A man said to them. But then a fowl stink reached their noises. "What's that stink?" A man asked, as a purple cloud encased them. Then when the cloud dissipated all the men had a purple line above their noises, and were coughing up a storm.
That's when Ricken and Maribelle noticed a big black feminine like lizard with a dark purple belly with violet red lines on it, and violet red stripe on its tail. "Salazzle." the lizard said before firing out some purple goo. The goo landed on one of the men, and gave the man a great big shock, knocking him out and making him fall to the ground. "What the?" A man said as he looked at the man on the grund, before something long and bumpy with two white claws on, grabbed him.
The man was pulled to a giant purple scorpion looking creature, that had four short spiky legs, a long neck, a oval head with a big mouth with a few fangs in it two eyes, a few spikes on it, two arms attached to its head, that had the same thing that grabbed the man, and a tail that look like the arms. "Drapion." The scorpion said, as the man yelled in fear. The scorpion then tossed the man away.
"If I'm going down! I'm taking one of you with me." A man said as he unsteadily aimed his bow to Ricken and Maribelle. The man then let his arrow fly, and it was sent flying to Ricken. But before it could hit them. A blue creature that looked like half a sphere, with spikes all over it, a purple top, and on the inside, with a tiny head daging, appeared and laned now Ricken's head, with it's tiny head. "Toxapex." the creature said before it released a purple energy bubble with spikes around it and Ricken, blocking the arrow.
"Impossible." the man said. "Oh it's very possible." A female voice said to the man. Everyone then turned their heads to see. Madison was standing nearby with her uniform still on, and a creature that looked like a living garbage bag that burst open with two arms, one a string of trash that had three nozzles in it, and the other one looked like lumps of trash wrapped around a thick wire. "Who are you and what is that monster?" The man asked Madison.
"Monsters! How dare you call my best friend that. Garbodor steal his bow and arrows with Thief!" Madison said to the man and the thrash creature. "Garbodor." Garbodor said before stretching out its wire arm and laced it threw the man's bow and quiver, taking them. Garbodor then reacted it arm and gave the bow and quiver to Madison. "Thanks Garbodor." Madison said to Garbodor, as she put the quiver on. "Just what is that thing?" The man asked. "I told you, he's my best friend. Garbodor finishes him with Venoshock." Madison said to the man. "Garbodor." Garbodor said as he pointed his three nozzles, and fired purple goo at the man. This gave the man a shock and knocked him out.
"Well that takes care of them." Madison said, as the creatures moved towards her. "Who are you?" Ricken asked Madison. "I'm Madison, these are my Pokemon. The Lizard is my cramping little lady Salazzle. The big guy is Drapion. The one who saved you is my little girl Toxapex. And Finally my best friend Garbodor." Madison said to Ricken, as she pointed to the creatures.
"How can you have such a filthy and disgusting thing for a best friend?" Maribelle asked Madison. "You know you're making me regret saving you." Madison said to Maribelle. "Forgive her. She's not big on anything messy." Ricken said to Madison. "Fair enough. I'm used to Garbodor. But not everyone else is. Now come on, we have to move before more guys show up." Madison said to everyone, as she started to lead the way. Everyone follow her, as she the the bow and quiver on her back
Back with Chrom, Simon, and Copperajah, they were holding Gangrel's men back, but were losing ground. That's when Robin Vaike, Kellam, Lon'qu, Litleo and Absol came up. "Absol use Psycho Cut." Robin said as she opened her spell book. "Absol." Absol said, as she fired a blade of purple energy from her horn, at a man that was fighting with Chrom, at the same time Robin fired a bolt of lighting at the same man. The two attacks sent the man flying.
"Robin, Absol. Perfect timing. Litleo help me with Fire Fang." Chrom said to them. "Litleo." Litleo said, as he ran to a man and bit his leg with a mouth full of fire. Distracted by this Chrom hand no trouble slashing his sword at the man Litleo was biting in.
"Now we can turn this fight around. Copperajah smash threw them with High Horsepower, and Vaike help me clean up the mess Copperajah makes." Simon said to Copperajah. "You can count on Teach." Vaike said to Simon. "Copperajah." Copperajah said before charging with an orange outline. This knocked a few of Gangrel's men to the ground, allowing Simon and Vaike to finish them. Meanwhile Lon'qu was being quiet, and was having no trouble taking out a few of Gangrel's men.
With Theo, Frederick, Sully, Stahl, and Passimian, they were riding along, when Silver and the other horse stopped and started to let out a cry of distress. "Easy Silver, what is it?" Theo asked before a couple of wyvern riders came flying at them. "Never mind." Theo said as everyone moved out of the way of the wyvern riders. "Passimian use Fling." Theo said to Passimian. "Passimian." Passimian said as he threw his ball at the head of one of the wyvern's. This did some damage to the wyvern making it crash into the other wyvern, then to the ground. Once on the ground Theo, Frederick, Sully, and Stahl finished them off.
"That went well." Theo said to everyone, as Passimian grabbed his ball. But then they noticed a large flock of wyvern riders. "That's not good." Theo said to everyone. "We have to get back to the others." Frederick said to everyone, before they all rode off.
Meanwhile with Harper, Lissa, Sumia, Miriel, and their Pokemon they were battling a few of Gangel's men. "Swablu use Disarming Voice." Sumia said to Swablu, as she blocked a sword with her spear. "You use Disarming Voice too Happiny." Lissa said to Happiny. "Swablu/ Happiny." the two of them said, before firing a sound wave with pink hearts in them. This hit two of Gangrel's men, giving them a headache. Allowing Miriel to take them out with a single fire spell. "Whimsicott use Leech Seed." Harper said to Whimsicott, as she dodged the attacks of one of Gangrel's men.
"Whimsicott." Whimsicott said as she shot out some seeds. The seeds landed on the man, and grew vines that wrapped around the man. "What the?" the man said before the vines started to glow green. "What...? why… am… I… sleepy?" The man asked, before Harper used the end of the hilt of her blade, to knock out the man.
"Where should we go now?" Lissa asked everyone. Then Harper noticed the large flock of wyvern. "Anywhere that's not here." Harper said to everyone, as they all noticed the large flock of wyvern riders. "We need to find the others." Sumia said to everyone, as they all started to leave.
With Daniel, Donnel, Virion, and their Pokemon, they were dealing with some of Gangel's men, with a person that was using magic. "Mudbray use Mud-Slap." Donnel said to Mudbray, as they dodged a few fire spells. "Mudbray." Mudbray said before shooting out a splash of mud from his mouth. The mud landed on the magic book. "My book!" the man said as he tried to shake off the mud. Virion took this opportunity to put an arrow in the magic user.
"Nice work Virion. Now let's finish. Dubwool help me with Take Down." Daniel said to everyone as he charged forward. "Mudbray help me with Double Kick." Donnel said to Mudbray, as he followed Daniel. "Dubwool." Dubwool said, before he charged at a man at high speed. "Mudbray." Mudbray said as he jumped in front of a man, spinned around, and kicked the man with his back legs. Meanwhile Daniel and Donnel locked weapons with Gangel's men, letting Virion finish them off with a few arrows.
Once Daniel, Donnel, Virion, and their Pokemon, the last of Gangel's men. Theo, Frederick, Sully, Stahl, and Passimian came riding up to them. Then came Harper, Lissa, Sumia, Miriel, and their Pokemon. "We need to take cover!" Lissa said to everyone. "What why?" Daniel asked Lissa. Theo then grabbed Daniel's head, and turned it to the large flock of wyvern riders. "Never mind." Daniel said. "What are we goin' to do?" Donnel asked everyone. "We're going to fall back to protect The Grace." Frederick said to Donnel. "That sounds like a bad idea." A female voice said to Frederick.
Everyone then turned to see Madison, Ricken, Maribelle, Garbodor, Drapion, Salazzle, and Toxapex, on a large area that was below them, with a single path connecting them to everyone else.
"Madison!" Theo said. "Another trainer. And one with some foul smelling Pokemon." Frederick said to Madison. "First you have a bad idea, and now you insult my Pokemon, I guess you're a ball of fun." Madison said to Frederick. "He is. Now why is running back to Emm a bad idea?" Lissa asked Madison. "Simple. If we don't stop the flock now, they'll probably overrun us at this Emm's location." Madison said to everyone. "She's right we can run, we have to hold our ground." Harper said to everyone. "Then do you have a plan?" Frederick asked Harper. "No but she has a point." Harper said to Frederick, as she put her sword in her left hand, and held her right hand to Madison.
Then Harper's Dynamax band started to glow violet-red, and a gentle stream of violet-red energy came out of Harper's hand and went into Madison. "What the?!" Harper said as she retracted her arm, cutting off the energy, and stopping the Dynamax band from glowing violet-red. "Huh?" Harper said as she pointed her right hand at Madison again, only to get the same violet-red energy flowing again. Harper then retracted her arm and the violet-red energy stopped again.
"What was that?" Lissa asked Harper. "I have no idea?" Harper said to Lissa. "I wonder?" Daniel asked, as he put his sword in his left hand and amined his right hand at Madison. And like what happened to Harper. His Dynamax band started to glow violet-red, and a gentle stream of violet-red energy came out of hand and went into Madison. "Theo, Harper, aim your Dynamax band at Madison." Daniel said to them. "Don't know if it will help, but okay." Theo said to Daniel as he and Harper aimed their right hands at Madison, letting out a gentle stream of energy.
All three streams made Madison glow bright violet-red. "Now what?" Madison asked Daniel, as she inspected herself. "Don't know?" Daniel said to Madison. "Great." Madison said, as she placed her right hand on her head. Then Madison noticed that her Dynamax band started to glow brighter. "Huh?" Madison said as she moved her right hand side to side. She noticed that it got brighter when she moved it one direction. She followed the light to find it was leading her past Drapion and to Garbodor. "Garbodor?" Madison said to Garbodor, before a large amount of violet-red energy, like a geyer, burst out of Madison's right hand, and entered Garbodor.
A few seconds later the energy faded. "Garbodor?" Madison asked Garbodor, worried a little. Then Garbodor suddenly started to grow large. "Everyone get up here!" Daniel said to Madison, Ricken, Maribelle, Drapion, Salazzle, and Toxapex, as Garbodor kept growing large. They didn't say anything and ran up to the others.
Soon Garbodor's growth spurts got bigger and he started to change shape. Once he stopped growing, he looked the same as before, but now, his main body was a mountain of trash with very large toys in it. "GARBODOR!" Garboder roared, as the sky turned violet-red and the ground shook.
Meanwhile Chrom, Robin, Simon, Vaike, Kellam, Lon'qu, Copperajah, Litleo and Absol, finished a battle with a few of Gangrel's men, when the sky turned violet-red and the ground shook. "What was that?" Chrom asked everyone. "I can't be?" Simon said with a surprised look on his face. "You know what this is?" Chrom asked Simon. "I think so. But we can talk about it later. For now we need to take cover." Simon said to Chrom, as they took cover.
With everyone else, everyone but the trainers looked at Garbodor with a surprised/ disgusted look on their faces. "WHAT IS THAT!" Lissa yelled in fear. "It's a Gigantamax Garbodor." Harper said to Lissa. "And I thought it couldn't get any more disgusting." Maribelle said. "He's not disgusting." Madison said to Maribelle. "Whether disgusting or not. Garbodor got the attention of the flock of wyvern riders." Theo said to everyone, as the flock of wyvern riders started to move towards Garbodor. "This is perfect. Everyone let me show you who we fight in the Galar region." Madison said to everyone.
"Garbodor use G-MAX MALODOR!" Madison said to Garbodor. "GARBODOR!" Garbodor roared as a large amount of a sickly green liquid and a very foul odor. The sickly green liquid then covered the area right under the flock of wyvern riders. That's when the sickly green liquid burst up like super sized geysers, and while the geysers did hit a handful of the flock, knocking them out of the sky. The rest was hit by a splash of the geysers. Soon purple lines appeared right under the eyes of the wyvern still in the air. This made them weak, and they had a hard time staying airborne.
"Now while they're poisoned. Use MAX DARKNESS!" Madison said to Garbodor. "GARBODOR!" Garbodor said as he pointed his two arms out. Then two streams of black energy came out of his arms, and moved in a wiggle formation, as it circled around the flock of wyvern riders. The two black energies circled the flock of wyvern riders a couple of times, before releasing a large black explosion. This explosion knocked the rest of the flock of wyvern riders out of the sky, and made them crash hard into the ground.
"Final move MAX STRIKE!" Madison said to Garbodor. "GARBODOR!" Garbodor said as he slammed his arm with the three nozzles in it into the ground sending a pulse of energy into the ground. Then the ground in the middle of the flock of wyvern riders started to break apart, before a large amount of energy burst out of the ground sending the flock of wyvern riders in all directions.
After that Garbodor shrunk back to his normal size, and the sky turned back to normal. "What happened to Garbodor?" Lissa asked the Trainers. "In our home land we have these battles with giant Pokemon using this power called Dynamax. But some like Garbodor, can Gigantamax, in which a move and appearance changes." Harper said to everyone. "But Dynamax and Gigantamax form, only last for a couple of minutes or three attacks, whichever happens first." Theo said to everyone. "If you could have one of our Pokemon do something like that before why didn't you?" Frederick asked them.
"Cause we didn't know it could. We know our Dynamax Bands are charging, but we couldn't get the energy to flow out of our Dynamax Bands." Daniel said to Frederick, as he showed them his Dynamax Bands. "But how did you do it now?" Lissa asked Daniel. "Maybe because there's four of us here. Back home we have their area called the Wild Area. And in this area we can Dynamax or Gigantamax there, but only if four people with Dynamax Bands work together to channel the energy." Theo said to Daniel.
"And since the energy burst into Garbodor not Drapion, then I guess our Gigantamax Pokemon are the only Pokemon that can go giant." Madison said to everyone. "Still this is good to know." Daniel said to the trainers. "So you're going to do that more often?" Lissa asked them. "Yes." They all said to Lissa.
Back with Chrom, Robin, Simon, Vaike, Kellam, Lon'qu, Copperajah, Litleo and Absol, they had gotten out of cover, and Simon explained Dynamaxing to them and who did the Dynamaxing. "That's incredible." Robin said to Simon. "It is. But I don't know how Madison was able to do it." Simon said to Robin, as they heard a clunking sound. Everyone turned to see a man limping towards them. Everyone could see that this man had multiple broken bones. That man was Captain Orton, with a wired zig-zag axe in his hands.
"I won't ask for your names. Only your life!" Orton said to everyone. "Big talk from a man that's fallen from the sky. Hard." Simon said to Orton, before Orton threw his axe at Simon. Simon dodged it, and it came around. So Simon had to dodge it again. "I'm still strong enough to handle all of you." Orton said to Simon, as he caught his axe.
"Okay let's end this." Chrom said to Orton, before he started to fight Orton. Orton blocked Chrom attack with his axe, but then Robin came and used her sword to force Orton axe back, Chrom took this opening to run his sword through Orton. Chrom pulled his sword out. "This matters not. Soon war will be upon… your soil… heh heh…" Orton said, as he dropped to his knees, and then fell forward. He was gone.
With Orton dead, whatever remained of Gangrel's men left. With everything clear they all meet up and it was at this moment Lissa finally relaxed and checked on Maribelle. "Maribelle! Are you hurt?!" Lissa asked Maribelle. "Nothing I didn't return twofold, darling." Maribelle said to Lissa. "Yeah you should have seen the bump on the guy that tried to grab her, while me, my Pokemon, and Ricken handled a few people." Madison said to Lissa, as she and her Pokemon walked to them. "Hush you." Maribelle said to Madison.
"I'm glad you're safe." Robin said to Maribelle, as she and Absol walked to them. "Who…? Oh. It's you." Maribelle said to Robin. "Yes, I know you're not especially fond of me, but it's a relief just the same." Robin said to Maribelle. "Oh, it's not a question of fondness. I am simply protective of Lissa. My treasure is very sensitive, and… Wait. Am I really justifying myself to a commoner? Gods… Yes, well, I do… apologize for being curt. And… and… and you have my thanks for your part in the rescue. There, I said it!" Maribelle said to Robin.
"Thank you, now I'd like to know more about your Pokemon. Simon told me a little about them, but I'd like to learn more about them." Robin said to Maribelle and Madison. "Sure here." Madison said as she pulled out a purple Rotom Phone.

Meanwhile, Chrom was giving Simon and Ricken an earful. "I don't know why you're complaining. It all worked out?" Simon asked Chrom. "That's not the point. You sent Ricken into a dangerous situation. Ricken is too young to be doing these things." Chrom said to Simon. "I'm not a little kid." Ricken said to Chrom. "And he would have come anyway. All I did was point him in a direction." Simon said to Chrom. "Plus I did save Maribelle from getting killed by that witch." Ricken said to Chrom.
"You still shouldn't have been here." Chrom said to Ricken. "Chrom, you can't keep Ricken in the castle. He wants to prove himself, to put his training to some use." Simon said to Chrom. "But he's still too young to fight." Chrom said to Simon. "Chrom, I think he's ready. He was able to get past Gangrel's men and save Maribelle. Something we couldn't do. Besides, you can only get so far in a library. So I say he should join us." Simon said to Chrom.
Chrom looked at the two of them for a few seconds, before sighing. "Fine. but I want you to be extra careful, Ricken." Chrom said to Ricken. "I will thank you." Ricken said to Chrom. "And Simon, I'd appreciate it. If you don't go behind my back again. Chrom said to Simon. "I make no promises, but fine." Simon said to Chrom.
A little bit later. Chrom, Frederick, Robin, the Trainers, and their Pokemon were all in front of Emmeryn. "Forgive me, Emm. I acted rashly." Chrom said to Emmeryn. "It's all right, Chrom. King Gangrel is the one at fault here. You were only protecting me." Emmeryn said to Chrom. "The Mad King will be rallying his forces, if they have not mobilized already. I suggest we make haste back to Ylisstol and discuss our strategy." Frederick said to everyone.
"Of course, Frederick. It seems war is upon us. We must protect the Ylissean people at all costs." Emmeryn said to everyone. "Lucky I think we have an ace in the hole." Robin said to Emmeryn. "And that is?" Emmeryn asked Robin. "We can make a few giants on our side." Robin said to Emmeryn. "Giants?" Emmeryn asked Robin.
"She means Snorlax, Copperajah, Appletun, Machamp, and Garbodor." Daniel said to Emmeryn. "You see we have this power from our home land that can turn our Pokemon into giants." Harper said to Emmeryn. "Can this power really protect our people?" Emmeryn asked the Trainers. "Your Grace, if I may. I saw it myself. And while it was intimidating, one of them took out a large flock of wyvern riders. Large enough where we would have a very hard time handling it." Frederick said to Emmeryn. "Really?" Emmeryn asked Frederick. "Yes, Your Grace." Frederick said to Emmeryn.
"Then maybe this power can protect our people." Emmeryn said to everyone. "A few problems. First, our Pokemon can use three attacks while in Giant form, before turning back to normal. Then there's the effects of the attacks. The recharge time. And the biggest problem. We can only have one giant out at a time." Theo said to Emmeryn. "Why only one?" Emmeryn asked The. "Apparently this world has the energy needed to make a Pokemon giant. But it's weak. Four of us need to work together for one of us to Gigantamax out Pokemon." Theo said to Emmeryn.
"And there's five of you." Chrom said to the Trainer. "But there's eight of us in total." Simon said to everyone. "Eight?" Frederick asked Simon. "Yes. Ethan, Grace, and Layla." Simon said to everyone. "How do you know they're here?" Harper asked Simon. "Why not, all five of us are here." Simon said to Harper. "But how do we even find them. This land isn't exactly small. And there's a lot of areas between towns." Theo said to Simon.
"Actually I think I have an idea." Madison said to everyone. "You do?" Harper asked Madison. "Before I came here I was in a town, and I heard a few rumors. One was, a group of bad people raided a town and kidnapped a fancy lady. Which is why I'm here now. Another rumor was a beautiful young lady with mysterious beautiful creatures hanging out in a river system up north. This rumer was closer so I came to see if the fancy lady was Layla, but no it was Maribelle." Madison said to everyone.
"What about the one up north?" Robin asked Madison. "My guess Probably Grace." Madison said to Robin. "So you think we should head up north on what could be a wild goose chase?" Chrom asked Madison. "Chrom, we should look into it. After all if Grace really is up there. Then we need to find her. Not only can she help us with our Gigantamax problem but Grace is also a master of fighting 1 vs a lot." Daniel said to Chrom. "1 vs a lot?" Robin asked.
"He means Grace battles a large number of opponents with one Pokemon. Her fighting style is using moves that can hit everything at once. She could teach our Pokemon moves that could hit Multiple targets, it would be a big help if we're outnumbered 5 to 1." Simon said to Robin. "Chrom I'd like you and the Shepherds to go north and see if this Grace is there. If she can make it where 1 can bet 10 at once. She could be a big help in the war." Emmeryn said to Chrom. "Are you sure? What about you?" Chrom asked Emmeryn.
"Phila can protect me while you go north." Emmeryn said to Chrom. "If that is what you wish." Chrom said to Emmeyn. "Okay so we're heading north to see if we can find Grace. What about Layla and Ethan, any leads?" Theo asked Madison. "Nothing. Which I find strang. If anything I think Ethan would get a lot of attention." Madison said to everyone. Why this Ethan person?" Robin asked. "Ethan is an albino. You know pale skin, red eyes, white hair, he stands out. And his nickname is The Ghost Of Spikemuth." Madison said to everyone.
"We'll have to worry about Ethan and Layla for later. For now let's quickly head north and see if we can find Grace." Chrom said to everyone. "Right, we don't have much time. We best get a move on." Simon said to everyone, as the Trainers returned their Pokemon to their Pokeballs. "Let's just hope Grace is up there." Daniel said as the Shepherds headed north with Madison joining them, and Emmeryn, Phila, and some soldiers headed back to the capital.
