Hello everyone before we start, in case you haven't noticed I started a New story. Kipo And The Age Of Ultra Wonderbeasts. I already posted the first three chapters of it. Oh and before I forget, Geneevee try not to use curse words in your reviews please. I'd appreciate it. Now here's chapter 12.

Chapter 12

An Old Cold Path

At the doc everyone met with a Strahta Soldier that was standing in front of a boat. "We've been expecting you, Lieutenant Oswell." The Soldier said to Hubert. Hubert then pulled the slider to the side. While Hubert and the Soldier talked, everyone scattered a little doing their own thing. After talking a bit, the Soldier left, and Hubert gathered everyone to really, what the Soldier said to him.

"Here are the instructions for getting into Fendel. The Fendelian army has statined a platoon at Warrior's Roost. One of the spies that we sent to infiltrate Fendel is with them. When we arrive, we will make contact with the spy and have her lead us into Fendel. Watch yourself at all times: If we're discovered, it will make our mission quite difficult. Now then, let's be off." Hubert said to everyone.

"Aren't you forget someone?" A voice asked Hubert. Everyone turned to see Alice, Ducklett, and surprisingly Charlotte as well, standing behind the group. "No, I knew you could hear me." Hubert said to Alice. "I didn't. Bye mom." Alice said as Hubert and Charlotte. "Bye Alice stay safe." Charlotte said to Alice, as everyone got on the boat. Everyone but Malik. He stayed behind and looked at Charlotte. "I know you well enough that you didn't come to say goodbye to your daughter." Malik said to Charlotte. Charlotte cracked a smile.

"No. I came to tell you something." Charlotte said to Malik. "And that is?" Malik asked Charlotte. "If it comes up, tell Alice the truth about me." Charlotte said to Malik. "Are you sure?" Malik asked Charlotte. "I know I should have told her sooner. But now it's too late. So if you need to tell her about me as well." Charlotte said before she started to walk away. "And what should I tell her, if she asked why didn't she tell me?" Malik asked Charlotte, making Charlotte stop. "Tell her that her mother was too ashamed and prideful to tell her." Charlotte said as she left. Malik nodded and went onto the boat. The bat then left, heading to Warrior's Roost.

After some time at sea, Pascal and Elgyem dragged William and Swampert to the back of the ship, where Asbel and Hubert were chatting, with Boltund and Drizzile sleeping nearby. "Oh! Sibling alert!" Pascal said, as she moved to Asbel Hubert, dragged William with her. Elgyem and Swampert follow them. "Hey, so is traveling with your family totally awesome or what?" Pascal asked Hubert. "Not particularly." Hubert said to Pascal. "Oh, right… 'Cause he knows all about your childhood secrets or whatever, yeah?" Pascal asked Hubert.

"This isn't a vacation, you know!" Hubert said to Pascal. "Fine. Whatever. Ignore my questions." Pascal said to Hubert. "So, Asbel? Got any embarrassing stories about your little bro?" Pascal asked Asbel. "Are you even listening to me? And while I'm at it, just how were you able to solve the valkines problem so easily?" Hubert asked Pascal. "What, that? Oh, I dunno. Just intuition, I guess." Pascal said to Hubert. "You can't fix a problem like that with intuition!" Hubert said to Pascal. "You can if you're Pascal." William said to Hubert. "It's okay, Hubert. That's just how Pascal is." Asbel said to Hubert.

"My favorite food is bananas, and my favorite color is yellow! Hey, this is fun! What else ya wanna know?" Pascal asked Hubert, as she spun around. "Ugh, never mind." Hubert said to Pascal. "Okay! But if you ever think of anything, just lemme know! Now come on William, let's check out the sea." Pascal said to Hubert and William. "I'll check it out with you later. I want to talk with Asbel a little bit first." William said to Pascal. "Okay." Pascal said, as she left with Elgyem, waving a hand in the air.

"Ridiculous. I've never met a more suspicious character in all my life." Hubert said to everyone. "I know she's kind of… unusual, but we couldn't have survived this long without her." Asbel said to Hubert. "He's right. Pascal is a smart, good person, even if she's a little weird, but I trust her." William said to Hubert. "I'm not denying what she's done. I'm saying it's dangerous to put blind trust in her." Hubert said to them. "It's not blind trust. It's trust she's earned. If there's anyone we shouldn't trust on this boat it's you." William said to Hubert.

Hubert then turned around. "I can see this is lost on you. Very well. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on things." Hubert said to William. "Or maybe you have trust issues and are too afraid to get to know someone." William said to Hubert. "William, Hubert, enough." Asbel said to them. Hubert said nothing and walked away. "Swampert return." William said as he left and returned Swampert to his Pokeball.

A few hours later they entered a cave and reached Warrior's Roost and docked at a cave port. They then got off the boat and looked around, noticing that the place looked like an entrance to an arena. "Looks like our agent hasn't arrived yet." Hubert said to everyone. "Hubert, be quiet." Alice said to Hubet, smacking Hubert's arm, before pointing to a couple of Fendel Soldiers nearby, that was checking their weapons.

"Say, you got one of them new models too, huh? How do ya like it?" A Fendel Soldier asked the other Fendel Soldier. "The output on these babies is incredible! They suck eleth from a cryas like nothing I've ever seen." The other Fendel Soldier said to the first Fendel Soldier. "Oh wow, they can do that now?! Here, wait, lemme see!" Pascal said, as she appeared by the Fendel Soldiers and looked at the weapons. "Hmmm… So the cryas goes here and the transformer circuit is that little ka- tangy bit there…" Pascal said as she placed her hands on the weapons. "Hey! Stop bothering us!" a Fendel Soldier said to Pascal, as he removed his weapon from his hands and the two Fendel Soldiers walked away.

"That's weird. I wonder who designed that. I better take another look." Pascal said, as she went after the Fendel Soldiers. But Hubert stopped her. "What are you doing? Stop that! Do you want to get us all killed?" Hubert asked Pascal. "Don't worry, Little Bro! I'll keep my distance." Pascal said to Hubert as she left. (Wait. For. Me.) Elgyem said to Pascal as he followed Pascal.

'Those guns were unfamiliar to me as well… Is the military up to something…?' Malik thought. "What is it, Captain?" Asbel asked Malik. "Hmm? Oh, nothing." Malik said to Asbel. "I don't like it here. Everything seems so… aggressive." Cheria said to everyone. (Yes, like the entire place could break out into a riot any second.) Kirlia said to everyone. "Skilled fighters come from across the world to compete at Warrior's Roost. Power is the only law in this place, and battle the only justice." Malik said to everyone.

"Conflict should be a means to an end. Why would anyone fight just for the sake of fighting? Why does this place even exist?" Cheria asked. "Skilled fighters need a place to test their mettle and aspire to new heights." Hubert said to Cheria. "It's the same with Pokemon, whether in the wild or with a trainer. They fight to get stronger, and to reach new heights." William said to Cheria. "Perhaps this is a world that only they and the Pokemon can understand." Hubert said to Cheria. "It's not really that hard to understand. After all what's life without its challenges we face." Alice said to Hubert as a man in a cloak walked up to them.

"Hey, are you folks waiting for a certain Fendelian soldier? I have a letter from her." The cloak said to everyone, before handing over a letter to Hubert. Hubert then opened and read the letter. "Mmm… This is bad." Hubert said. "What's the problem?" Alice asked Hubert. "Our spy's commanding officer has grown suspicious of her actions. She will be unable to meet with us." Hubert said to Alice. "So how do we get to Fendel?" Asbel asked Hubert and Alice. "It would seem we'll have to find another way…" Hubert said to Asbel.

(Help!) Elgyem said as he and Pascal came up running with the Fendel Soldiers behind them. Sophie was the first to notice this and leaped into action, taking out one of the Fendel Soldiers. "Sophie! Pascal! Are you okay?!" Cheria asked Pascal and Sophie as everyone, but Hubert, gathered around them. "What do you think you're doing?!" Asbel asked the Fendel Soldiers. "That wench tried to steal our weapons!" The Fendel Soldier Sophie attacked said, as he got up. "I just wanted to look at 'em! Come ooon!" Pascal said to the Fendel Soldiers.

"Forgive her, she's a curious one." William said to the Fendel Soldiers. "No." A Fendel Soldier said to William. "You can't have her." Sophie said to the Fendel Soldiers, as she stretched out her arms in front of Pascal. Then a man in a red uniform came walking up, with a whip in hand, and a small gray creature with a light blue back and tail, and a large head with a light blue dome and four white spikes on it. 'A Cranidos? What's that doing here?' William thought as he looked at the creature.

"What's this? Troublemakers?" the man in red said to everyone. The man in red looked at everyone. "And who would you be? Perhaps the friends of that little spy? Oh yes, we know all about your plan to infiltrate our ranks." The man in red said to everyone. "I will thank you to avoid such filthy accusations, sir." Hubert said to the man in red, as he walked to him with Drizzile besides him. "We have come to challenge the champions of Riot Peak, Nothing more." Hubert said to the man in red.

"Is that so? Then you won't mind if we're your first opponents! I was told to test out this new beast to see if it was better than the other beast running around, and you have some, so let's fight. And while we're at it, perhaps a small wager will make things more interesting. If we win- and we will win- you're going to tell us everything we want to know." The man in red said to Hubert. Hubert just shook his head. "That seems to be a fair challenge. We accept. We're here to fight, after all. And to win." Hubert said to the man in red.

"Haw Haw! Bold talk from a little mama's boy! Our beast will crush you. See you no Riot Peak! The man in red said to Hubert, before he and the Fendel Soldier left. "Wow! You were all, like, ka-pow!" Pascal said to Hubert. "Was that a wise thing to say, Hubert?" Cheria asked Hubert. "It seems our agent friend has been taken captive. If we want to reach Fendel, we'll have to rescue her first. As such, we'll need to defeat those men and set her free." Hubert said to everyone.

"That's easier said than done, they have a Cranidos with them." William said to Hubert. "Cranidos?" Alice asked. "A powerful Pokemon." William said to Alice, making Asbel flip through the book. "I don't see a Cranidos in the book." Asbel said to William. "Of course there isn't. Cranidos is an extinct Pokemon. That book only has living Pokemon in it. Here let me show you." William said, as he pulled out his Pokedex.

Cranidos

The Head Butt Pokemon

A Rock Type Pokemon

It lived in the jungles around 100 million years ago. Its skull is as hard as iron.

"But how can something that lived 100 million years ago still be alive?" Alice asked William, as he put his Pokedex away. "No idea. We have a few clones of them back home. But something tells me that Cranidos isn't a clone from my world." William said to Alice. "How can you tell?" Asbel asked William. "Cause he said "test out this new beast." That makes it sound like Cranidos is a freshly made clone." William said to Asbel.

"Wait a minute you said clone? What is that?" Cheria asked William. "It's basically a copy of something. In the case of Cranidos, the people back home use the DNA and energy of a Skull Fossil to make a new Cranidos." William said to Cheria. "If people in your world can do that, why not use it to bring back people?" Alice asked William.

"For one People don't have the energy inside them to do that. And two a long time ago a group of scientists messed with the idea of cloning to create a living weapon for them to control. And it worked. They made their weapon, only to have it destroy it's makers, or so the rumors goes. After that cloning, even restoring fossils, is a very monitored thing by the Government." William said to Alice.

"Enough chatting, we have work to do." Hubert said to everyone. "Fine, let's go fight in Riot Peak." Alice said to everyone. "Riot Peak huh?" Asbel said before they started to move.

After climbing some stares they saw a large tower in the middle of a crater that Warrior's roost was made into. The sooned found themselves standing in front of a desk, stationed outside the main entrance, with a woman sitting behind the desk. "Welcome. So what are you battling today?" the woman at the desk asked everyone. "We'll be battling the Fendel Soldiers." Hubert said to the woman. "Okay. is everyone fighting?" The woman asked. "Yes. Even the Pokemon." Asbel said to the woman. "Sorry but one creature can be allowed to enter the area." The woman said to Asbel

"What? Why?" William asked the woman. "After the first fight we had with these creatures, we learned they have tremendous powers. Powers that defeat a single opponent no matter who he or she is, if he or she faces multiple creatures. So only one may enter, but that's the only role with them." The Woman said to William. "In that case can you give us a second." William said to the woman, as he turned to the others.

"So what Pokemon are we going to use?" Pascal asked. "I say Crawdaunt." William said. "Why Crawdaunt?" Asbel asked. "Cranidos fights with it's super hard head, and Crawdaunt's pincers are big enough to grab it, and he's a water type, so bonus." William said to Asbel. "Wouldn't Swampert work just as well?" Cheria asked William. "Yes, but Swampert doesn't have the single target water movies like Crawdaunt. Meaning that Swampert might take us all out in a tight space." William said to Cheria. "Crawdaunt it is then." Hubert said, as he turned to the woman.

While Hubert told the woman what Pokemon they were going to use, everyone told their Pokemon to wait, and William let Crawdaunt out. A few minutes later they were in the arena, when the more Fendel Soldiers, the man in red, Cranidos, and a woman tied up came in. "So, we meet again." Hubert said to the man in red, as the man in red, forced the woman to sit on the floor. "You've got guts, mama's boy. I'll give you that. Oh, and we brought your little spy friend so she can watch us thrash you. Try not to die too quickly, now. That would be such a bore." The man in red said, as everyone readied their weapons.

"Are you finished? If this was a battle of grandstanding, I'd have surrendered my dualblades long ago." Hubert said to the man in red. "Time to die! Ram him!" The man in red said to Hubert and Cranidos, as he cracked a whip. (Headbutt!) Cranidos said with a male voice as he charged at Hubert. "Crawdaunt use Crabhammer and deal with Cranidos." William said to Crawdaunt. (You got it.) Crawdaunt said as his pincers glowed light blue. Crawdaunt then smacked Cranidos away, while all the people were fighting.

"You worthless creature, get up and fight." the man in red said, as he cracked his whip in the deracion of Cranidos, forgetting Hubert, who slashed him a little with his blades while his hands glowing the same color as the energy that came from Sophie. (Headbutt!) Cranidos said as he charged again. But Crawdaunt grabbed Cranidos' head with his pincers. (why do you listen to a nasty human like that?) Crawdaunt asked Cranidos. (He alpha. Obey alpha.) Cranidos said to Crawdaunt. (Oh right fossil. Pokemon like you have the same mindset even after millions of years.) Crawdaunt said to Cranidos, before tossing Cranidos.

(Fight. Fight. Fight. Iroh Head.) Cranidos said as he charged at Crawdaunt with the blue bump on his head turning silver and ruff. (That's how you want to play it fine. Liquidation.) Crawdaunt said as blades of water came out of his pincers. The two then started to battle like a mace against a sword. Each attack countering each other. (Strong. How so Strong?) Cranidos asked Crawdaunt as they locked attacks. (How? Because I work hard. Crunch.) Crawdaunt said to Cranidos, as he stopped using Liquidation, and allowed Cranidos to move forward, as he moved to the side, and bit down on Cranidos back with long sharp white teeth.

Crawdaunt then tossed Cranidos again. (I finished. Take Down!) Cranidos said to Crawdaunt, as he charged at Crawdaunt, while glowing white. (Crabhammer.) Crawdaunt said as he dodged Cranidos, and hit Cranidos with his glowing light blue pincers. This made Cranidos flying into the man in red.

When Cranidos crashed into the man in red, he noticed that the team defeated his men. "Impossible… How did you beat me…?" The man in red asked Hubert, as a bell rang. "We should be on our way." Hubert said to everyone, as they put their weapons away. "Although come to think of it, we never did decide on our half of the wager." Hubert said to the man in red. Hubert then looked at the woman tied up. "Well then, as the victor, I demand you release the prisoner." Hubert said to the man in red. "Miss, you're free to go. Perhaps you would care to accompany us?" Hubert said to the woman.

"You can't have her!" The man in red said, as he grabbed a weapon from one of his fallen men and aimed it at the woman. This got everyone on guard. "Stand down! It is forbidden to draw your weapon after a match has been settled. If you do…" Malik said to the man in red, but Hubert interrupted Malik. "It's too late now." Hubert said to Malik, as a misterius black cloaked figure appeared in between the man in red and the woman. "Y-You!" The man in red said, as the figure moved in the blink of an eye, and killed the man in red.

"I've never seen anyone move so fast! Who is that?" Asbel asked, as Cranidos started to get up. "That is the guardian of Riot Peak. All who come here dream of one day facing him in single combat." Hubert said to Asbel. "Our opponent broke the rules, and thus was punished." Malik said to Asbel. "As long as we obey the laws of this place, we have nothing to fear." Hubert said to Asbel.

(You bet alpha. You strong alpha. Can join you?) Cranidos asked the figure. Somehow the figure understood what Cranidos said, and nodded yes. Then as the figure walked, the figure justed a hand letting Cranidos know to follow him. "Should we stop him?" Alice asked. "Like we can." William said to Alice. "Far point." Alice said to William, as Hubert freed the woman, and they walked to everyone.

"Many thanks. I'm sorry you went to so much trouble on my behalf." the woman said to everyone. "No apologies are required. However, we must now get to Fendel as quickly as possible." Hubert said to the woman. "Of course. When you're ready, come see me by the Fendel boarding point." The woman said as she left the group.

After that, they gather their Pokemon, while William returns Crawdaunt to his Pokeball. After that they headed for the port. They then found the woman near a ship, by another cave entrance. "If you're ready, I'm happy to escort you to Fendel." The woman said to everyone. "We appreciate the help." Hubert said to the woman, as everyone started to get onto the ship, but Asbel stopped and turned towards Riot Peak. Sophie and William noticed this and stopped and looked at Asbel.

'Riot Peak… A place where skilled fighters test their mettle and aspire to new heights…' Asbel thought. "What's wrong, Asbel?" Sophie asked Asbel. "Yeah, what are you thinking about?" William asked Asbel. "Huh? Oh, nothing. I'm fine. Let's go." Asbel said to them, before they got onto the boat.

While on the boat, the girls were chatting together, Mallik was overlooking the sea, while Asbel and William talked to Hubert, all the while the Pokemon was playing on the deck, running around having fun. "So you can use the light too, huh?" Asbel asked Hubert, "Yes. It happened only recently. I have many questions. Such as why does it only affect you, me, and Cheria? One day I must research the cause of this phenomenon." Hubert said to Asbel. "Always thinking ahead. You never fail to impress." Asbel said to Hubert. "Well, lately I've also been thinking about him." Hubert said to Asbel, as he looked at Malik.

Asbel and William then turned to Malik. "Captain Malik? Come on. You can't suspect him too! He's been at the Knight Academy forever! I've known him since I was a boy!" Asbel said to Hubert, as he and William turned to Hubert. "We really need to work on those trust issues." William said to Hubert. "His fighting style is... unique. I would very much like to know where he learned it." Hubert said to them. "Then asked him. You don't have to watch someone from five feet away to get to know someone." William said to Hubert, as Sophie ran up to them.

"Asbel? William? Pascal is feeling sick." Sophie said to them. "She's sick?" Asbel asked. "No." Alice said as the girls walked to the edge of the ship, with Pascal walking all over the place. "Hang in there, Pascal!" Cheria said to Pascal, as she rubbed Pascal's back. "Oooh, I'm totally gonna paint the deck here." Pascal said to everyone before throwing up a little.

"Are you all right, Pascal? Do you get seasick easily?" Asbel asked Pascal. "She's not seasick. She just ate an entire bunch of bananas." Cheria said to Asbel. "I told her not to, but she was all like "I totally can"." Alice said to Asbel, as Pascal threw up again. "Oh, man. All that wasted potassium…" Pascal said, after she finished throwing up. "I'm not cleaning that up." William said to everyone. "This is disgusting." Hubert said.

"Okaaay, I think I'm done horfing for a while." Pascal said to everyone ,as she regained her composure. "Good." Alice said, as Pascal turned to Malik. "Is Captain Malik sick too?" Pascal asked everyone, before running to Malik. "What's wrong? Did I gross you out or are you so sick you can't talk?" Pascal asked Malik. "Just reflecting on the past." Malik said to Pascal, not looking at her. "Oh, tell me, tell me! I don't know anything about you, ya know? You musta done something before you were a sword fighting guy, right?" Pascal asked Malik. "Sorry, Pascal. I'd like to be left alone if you don't mind." Malik said to Pascal, still not looking at her. "Y'okay." Pascal said to Malik, as she walked away from Malik.

"Geez, what a grump. Don't bother trying to cheer him up!" Pascal said to everyone. "I wonder what's wrong?" Asbel asked. 'What exactly are you hiding, Captain?' Hubert thought, before the ship landed into a dock. Once they got off the ship, they were met with a freezing wind, and snow. "It's very cold here. Are you okay, Sophie?" Cheria asked Sophie. "I'm fine." Sophie said to Cheria. "Yeah, well I'm FREEZING! Come on, Sophie, you gotta help me warm up!" Pascal said to Sophie.

Sophie said nothing and hid behind Asbel. "That's a no." Alice said to Pascal. "Here if you're cold, just stay close to Magcargo." William said to Pascal, as he let Magcargo out of her Pokeball. "Oh so warm." Pascal said as she hugged Magcargo, as everyone moved closer to Magcargo. (Happy to help.) Magcargo said to Pascal.

That's when the woman everyone rescued came walking up to them. "I tried to find the exact location of Fendel's valkines but came up empty. According to rumors, however, it's somewhere near the capital, Zavhert." The woman said to Hubert. "That's unfortunate. Zavhert is a long way from here. For now, let's head to the town of Velanik. It will be a good place to rest." Hubert said to everyone.

"But before we go, can I ask you something?" William asked the woman. "What is it?" The woman asked. "What was with that Cranidos?" William asked the woman. "You mean that creature. Well when the creatures appeared the Fendel army tried to tame some, but this proved to be difficult. The creatures are not as obedient as they would like. But then a high ranking scientist discovered something. After that a few new creatures appeared. My squad was the first to get one. We were told to take it to Warrior's Roost and test it in battles against other creatures." The woman said to William.

"Why their though? "Asbel asked the woman. "Cause there you can't run away. Once you're in the arena, you can't leave until the battle is over." The woman asid to Asbel. "Makes sense if you're testing Cranidos' power." Alice said to everyone. "And powerful he is. Cranidos, as you called him, won many matches. The commander sent these results back to the Chapital. With those results a few more creatures like Cranidos have joined the military, with a rumor that two really powerful ones, out there as well." The woman said to everyone. "We'll be on our guard then. Thank you." Hubert said to the woman, before everyone started to move.

After walking for a bit they found themselves in front of a hugged crater. "Wow. That's a big crater." Asbel said to everyone. "Oh, that old thing? I kinda hoped somebody had filled it in by now." Pascal said to everyone. "You've heard of this crater, Pascal?" Cheria asked Pascal. "A bit, I suppose." Pascal said to Cheria.

"What could have created such a large crater?" Malik asked everyone. "It happened after a cyrus explosion." Pascal said to Malik. "That… happens?" Asbel asked Pascal. "Of course! The cyrus in Fendel is naturally unstable, which makes it kinda hard to control." Pascal said to Asbel. Then everyone noticed a pair of Fendel soldiers walking towards them. "We should get to Velanik before people start getting suspicious." Asbel said to everyone, before they started to move.

As they walked they ran into a large group of big red chicken-like monsters, with a long ruff sword-like bone horn on and went from its noise out a few feet. These monsters then charged at everyone. "Head's up, we got monsters." Asbel said to everyone, as they pulled out their weapons. "Let's make this quick." Hubert said to everyone. (Fine. Water Pulse.) Drizzile said, as he tossed a ball of water at a monster, confusing it, easily chopping off it's head.

"Growlithe use Fire Fang." Malik said to Growlithe, as he locked his weapon with the horn of one of the monsters. (On it.) Growlithe said, as his fans became wrapped in fire. Growlithe then bit into the monster's neck. The monster then tried to shake Growlithe off, allowing Malik to finish it off.

"Kirlia use Magical Leaf." Cheria said to Kirlia, as she threw a dagger. (Got it.) Kirlia said to Cheria, as she hit her tutu, knocking out some leaves, Kirlia then twirled and kicked the leaves. Then the leaves and dagger then cut the monster killing it.

"Elgyem use Confusion." Pascal said to Elgyem. (Okay.) Elgyem said as his eyes turned teal, and a teal outline appeared on the monster, freezing it in place. "Thank you." Pascal said as she fired a few shots at the monster that Elgyem held in place.

"Boltund use Nuzzle." Asbel said as he and Boltund charge at a monster. (If you think that'll work.) Boltund said to Asbel, before running up to one of the monsters and nuzzling it. This confused and shocked the monster. This paralysed it, allowing Asbel to get an easy and clean kill on the monster.

"Golett use Iron Defense." Sophie said to Golett. Golett said nothing and turned his arms sliver, blocking the attacks of one of the monsters. Sophie then moved around Golett, and punched the monster in the side, hard.

"Ducklett use Water Gun." Alice said to Ducklett. (Sure.) Ducklett said as she fired a stream of water at a monster head. This made the monster stop in place. Alice then ran up and slammed her shield into the monster, forcing it to the ground. Alice then used her axe to chop off the monster's head.

"Let's finish this, Magcargo use Earth Power." William said to Magcargo, as he ran his spear threw one of the last two of the monsters. (Agreed.) Magcargo said as she glowed a tan aura. Magcargo then slammed her head into the ground. Then the ground started to crack while the crack glowed tan. Then the crack reached the last of the monsters, and exploded.

But that explosion brought more monsters. "We don't have time for this. Magcargo, crush them with Rock Slide." William said to Magcargo. (No problem.) Magcargo said before raising her head. Then rocks started to fall from the sky and crush the monsters that appeared.

"Why didn't you start with that?" Hubert asked William. "Cause we all need to practice fighting with our Pokemon. Besides, those monsters were nothing we could handle." William said to everyone, as they started to move. As they did William noticed Pascal wasn't moving, she was playing with a few of the monster's remains. "Pascal come on." William said to Pascal, as he stopped and turned to Pascal. "Coming." Pascal said as she turned to William, started running, and ran past William. William then shrugged it off and ran to catch up with the others.

The sun was setting when they made it to the town Velanik. If one could call it a town. The place looked like a ruined city that was covered in patch work to keep it standing. 'This place hasn't changed at all. If anything it's gotten worse…' Malik thought, as everyone looked around. "Are you reflecting again?" Sophie asked Malik, as she noticed him lost in thought. Everyone then turned to Malik. "Something like that." Malik said to Sophie. "Is it… hard?" Sophie asked Malik.

"Sometimes, very much so. When you think about the past, it's easy to focus on regret… On how you failed to act when it was required most." Malik said to Sophie. "Failure to act…" Sophie said. 'I feel like I was meant to do something as well… Was it protecting Asbel and my other friends? No. It was… something bigger than that...' Sophie thought. "Let's ask around town and see if anyone knows anything about the Valkines." Hubert said to everyone.

They then looked around, getting sadder as they explored the town, seeing people huddled together in ragged clothes, and builded held together by wishful thinking. They asked around, but found nothing about the Valkines. Then they found two kids digging in the dirt, one a boy and one a girl.

"What are those kids looking for?" Asbel asked everyone. "Bits of cyrus. Some are no larger than a grain of sand." Malik said to Asbel. " No kidding?" Asbel asked Malik. "What use is it if it's that small?" Hubert asked Malik. "They use it to heat their stoves." Malik said to Hubert. "That's so sad…" Cheria said to Malik, as Malik walked to the kids. "How goes the search?" Malik asked the kids. "Not good." The girl said to Malik. "Our Family runs the inn. So we need enough cyrus for the guest rooms, too." The Boy said to Malik. "I see." Malik said to the boy.

"Can't they just buy cyrus fuel?" Asbel asked Malik. Malik then turned to Asbel. "This country has few Cyrus reserves, and they're mainly reserved for the upper class. The Government has long turned a blind eye to this injustice, no matter how many people suffer. That's just how it is in Fendel." Malik said to Asbel. "In Lhant, people have all the cyrus they want…" Asbel said. "In Strahta, we're not unfamiliar with cyrus shortages ourselves. But this situation is extreme." Hubert said.

'This is Fendel…? These poor people are our most hated enemies…?' Asbel thought, as William noticed the look on his face and guessed what he was saying, and the girl sneezed. "I'm c-cold." The girl said to the body. (You poor little one. Come here.) Magcargo said to the girl, as she snuggled up to the girl. "So warm." The girl said as she hugged Magcargo. (You're welcome.) Magcargo said to the girl. "That was sweet of you Magcargo. Now why don't you take this girl home." William said to Magcargo.

"No, I can stay." The girl said to William, as the boy walked to the girl, and placed a hand on his and her head. "Looks like you have a fever. You should go home and rest. I'll take care of the cryas." the boy said to the girl, as he removed his hands from their heads. "But, we don't have enough." the girl said to the boy. "Don't worry. If I can't find more, I'll get a strahteme horn." The boy said. "What? No! A strahteme would kill you!" The girl said to the boy. "Hey, I always figure something out! R-Right? I'm your big brother. Just leave it to me." The boy said to the girl.

"Is a strahteme something that a child should be taking on?" Hubert asked Malik. "No. it's not." Malik said to Hubert. "Then why would he even think of taking one on?" Alice asked Malik. "Strahteme are extremely dangerous monsters that live on cryas fragments. The eleth from the cryas accumulates in their horns. Uncountable men have perished trying to secure those horns. It's not a foe to be taken lightly." Malik said to Alice. "Strahteme horns, huh?" Asbel asked.

"Incidentally, we fought a group of strahteme on our way here." Malik said to Asbel. "Wait, you mean those red chicken monsters with the bone sword horns?" William asked Malik. "Yes, those were strahteme monsters." Malik said to William. "Damn, we should have taken the horns when we had the chance." Asbel said. "Oh! Hold on! Lemme see how many we have." Pascal said to everyone, as she started to dig into her back pocket. Pascal then pulled out two strahteme horns. "Pascal? When did you pick those up?" Cheria asked Pascal. But Pascal ignored her, and pulled out three more horns.

"One, two, three, four, fiiiive… Oh yeah. We got plenty!" Pascal said to everyone. "That would explain why you were looting from the strahteme bodies." William said to Pascal. "All right, so…" Asbel said. Pascal then handed the boy the horns. "Is this enough?" Asbel asked the boy. "Wait, what?" the boy asked Asbel, as Cheria walked to the kids. "You should get out of this cold and find a place to warm up." Cheria said to the girl. "Why don't you take her home?" Cheria asked the boy. "But…" the boy said.

"We just happen to have these. Don't worry about it. Now take your sister home and let her get some rest, okay?" Asbel said to the boy. "Th-Thank you! Thank you so much!" The boy said to Asbel. Then the two of them started to move. "Magcargo, why don't you see them home." William said to Magcargo. (With pleasure.) Magcargo said to William, as she left with the kids.

"We're lucky Pascal thought to take those horns, aren't we?" Cheria asked everyone, after the kids and Magcargo left. "Yeah. We are." Asbel said to Cheria. "Now let's get back to work." Hubert said as they started to move again.

As they walked the split up to talk to more people. When alone, William talked to Asbel. "So, what's on your mind?" William asked Asbel. "It's nothing William." Asbel said to William. William just gave a look that said "okay what is it". "Find. I'm just having a hard time believing that this is Fendel. This is our most hated enemy." Asbel said to William. "But this makes sense." William said to Asbel.

"What sense?" Asbel asked William. "Sense on why they do what they do. Don't get me wrong, what they have done to Lhant is wrong, but look around you. Everyone here is desperate and scared. If someone comes along and gives them a job that will make their lives better, they'll take it no matter what the job is. After all, to them it's either attack another town, or stay here in the slums and slowly die." William said to Asbel. "When you say it like that. Anyone would choose to attack." Asbel said to William. "Exactly. Now let's find the others." William said to Asbel, as they started to move.

As the night covered the sky, everyone gathered and found nothing. Needing a place to stay. So they moved to the inn. It was the largest building in the town, and was in the best shape. But that doesn't mean it was all sparkly and new, it was old and worn out, the reason it was in the best shape was because it was the only building that didn't have a patch on it. When they got there they met a woman that walked outside.

"Oh my goodness! You're the people my children were talking about! I can't believe you just gave us those horns. And let such a worm creature travel with my kids." The woman said to everyone. "We were happy to help." Asbel said to the woman. "I… I don't know what to say… those horns are so hard to get, and yet you went out of our way." The woman said to everyone. "Well we couldn't let your kids go fight monsters. Besides, you need them more than we do." William said to the woman.

"Thank you. Thank you so much. We'll use them well, I promise." the woman said to William. "By the way, how is your daughter?" Cheria asked the woman. "She's feeling better, thanks to you. That slug has helped out a lot. Oh, where are my manners? Please, come! You must be tired. You can stay here tonight, on the house." the woman said to everyone. "Oh, we couldn't possibly ask that of you." Asbel said to the woman. "You must! Please! It's the least I can do!" The woman said to Asbel.

"Well it is getting late. Okay we'll stay. We'll take two large rooms please." Alice said to the woman. "You got it. I'll start heating your rooms right away." The woman said, as she entered the building. Everyone then followed the woman.

The inside of the inn, the temp wasn't like the tropics, but it was defely better than being outside. The place had a stage and a boiler, but other than that it looked like a normal inn with two stories. Pascal and Elgyem ran to the boiler. "Oh man, this is so… Ooooooh yeeeeeeeah…" Pascal said as she took in the warmth of the boiler. (This. Is. Nice.) Elgyem said as he took in the warmth. Hubert got annoyed by their antics.

That's when the woman, her son, and Magcargo walked up to everyone. "Welcome to our inn everyone." The woman said to everyone. "Thank you for your kind hospitality." Cheria said to the woman, bowing to her. (We are touched by your kindness.) Kirlia said to the woman, bowing to her. "You're our fist out-of-town visitors in quite a while. And as such. You'll get nothing but top-drawer service! It's not fancy, I admit, but I think you'll like the food we've prepared!" The woman said to everyone, as Pascal and Elgyem joined the group. "We can't wait." Alice said to the woman.

Everyone then sat down and enjoyed dinner, all the while William was teaching the kids about Pokemon. Once they were done everyone went to their rooms, guys in one room, girls in the other room. (William, can I stay with the kids tonight?) Magcargo asked William. "If you're asking me if you can stay with the kids? You can. I know how nice you can make a room feel during a cold night. And it'll probably be better for the girl if you stay with them." William said to Magcargo. (Thank you.) Magcargo said as she went to the kids room.

After a bit, William entered the guys room and laid down on a spear, he then noticed a fireplace in their room and stared at it, while everyone else fell asleep. Then William's eyes glowed red, and he could see a fire burning bright in the fireplace before he too fell asleep.

Hello everyone please like, follow, or review if you like this story. And before you complain. Know that I planned for one person alone to have a Fossil Pokemon. But I was watching Jurassic Park, while making this chapter so I added more Fossil Pokemon. And don't worry the next chapter will explain how there can be Fossil Pokemon and how they can survive in Fendel.
