Chapter 7: Match Maker

Marinette and Adrien were in the school library, studying the script on the table.

"Miraculous?" asked Marinette. "Do you think it means..?"

"That's just one possible translation," said Adrien. "I'm not sure without the context. We need a translator."

"I'd rather keep this between us for now," said Marinette.

"Then I guess we're stuck," said Adrien. "At least until I can get a Japanese-French dictionary."

Marinette had an idea.

"Hold on a minute, Adrien. I need to use the bathroom."

She left the room and ducked into an empty classroom.

"Tikki, you can understand all languages, right? Can you read any language?" asked Marinette.

"I can," said Tikki. "Unless it's in code."

"Could you sneak into the library and get a look at the writing on the script without being seen? It's important to find out what it says."

Tikki flew off and soon returned with an answer.

"It says, 'They have found the temple in Tibet that helped my miraculous namesake ancestor in her battles. I would never dare to do what they are planning, but I swear to raise a perfect daughter to be a match for their perfect son and share the immense power'."

"What? That makes no sense," said Marinette. "Namesake ancestor? Perfect son?"

"I don't know," said Tikki. "But it could be important."

"People who were planning to get power," said Marinette. "That may tie in to the cult Sabrina was talking about. Only one of the people in that movie group has a son – Gabriel Agreste!"

"We can't jump to conclusions. We don't know if it's connected to the people making the movie or not," said Tikki.

"The date doesn't fit for Adrien to be the son," said Marinette after consideration. "The accident happened sixteen years ago, at a party celebrating finishing the movie. Tomoe must have written on the script before that. Adrien is only fourteen."

"It's a mystery," said Tikki. "Are you going to tell Adrien?"

"Not now," said Marinette. "I can't explain how I got the translation. Also, it might get back to his father, who has too much power over him. We have to keep investigating the crime and see where it leads."
