Chapter 3
Marinette smiled as she walked up the building in front of her.
"Hi you must be Marinette Dupang-Chang I am Holly" A woman said opening the door, "please come in"
"Hi it is nice to meet you"
"So you are looking for a space to purchase right?"
"Yes I am," Marinette smiled, "I need a space to work on designs and something with a rooftop deck or patio or high up balcony,"
"Okay what size space are you looking for?"
"At least 6 stories for sale. We don't want any rentals," Marinette said, "I have friends I will be sharing the space with."
"I have a few places in mind, Holly smiled, "and all 4 are in the area you are looking at. Now you said you wanted a good security set up also correct?"
"Yes,"
"Okay if you have some time I can show you what I have so far,"
"Sounds good I am free until 3:30"
"Okay let's go"
Marinette studied the building in front of her with a critical eye. It wasn't the nicest of the six buildings but it had everything she was looking for.
"Do you mind if I take some pictures to send to my friends? I think this is the one that will work the best. We can fix the security problems after purchase if necessary"
"Absolutely take whatever photos you need," the woman smiled, " do you know how long it will take to hear back"
"As long as Ro likes it we should be able to settle by the end of the week"
"Really," the woman said in surprise, "are your parents paying for it?"
"No. we will be paying for it" Marinette smiled, "we own our own business"
"Oh" the woman said surprised, " I am sorry it is just you look so young,"
"I am 18," Marinette said, "Jordan is two years older and Rae is a year older. We have been managing our business for several years"
"Oh is he your boyfriend?"
"Oh gosh no just a friend," Marinette giggled, " actually he is more like an older brother. Rae will be joining us as soon as she finishes wrapping things up in the states"
"Oh is she a designer too?"
"Nope photographer" Marinette smiled
"Okay was there anything else I can do for you today"
"No I will give you a call tomorrow with our decision"
"Perfect," she said, "have a wonderful afternoon"
"Yes you too," Marinette smiled as she checked the time on her phone. With a quick gasp she dashed off knowing if she didn't hurry she would be late. She dashed down the street and into the cafe five minutes late.
"I am so sorry," she said as she collapsed in the chair across from Luka
"Good to see some things don't change" he laughed, "I hope you still like raspberry mocha lattes"
"Yes!" Marinette exclaimed, taking the drink he offered. She took a small sip and sighed in bliss. "Do you know how hard it is to find a decent raspberry mocha outside of Paris"
"I am guessing not easy" he teased
"I have been almost everywhere in the world and this right here is still my favorite place to be"
"You were traveling?" He asked surprised
"Yeah," Marinette said, "did Juleka give you the letter? Or tell you what happened?"
"Yeah umm she gave it to me," he said embarrassed, " but I never opened it and she refused to say anything beyond you had left Paris until I read the letter"
"Oh" Marinette said softly, "so you have no idea what happened?"
"No," he said, "I wanted to hear it from you"
Marinette smiled gently before telling him about being expelled and her parents' decision to have her stay with Gina. How her parents had decided to have Gina set up a new phone line for her and how she had to leave her phone behind. She started telling him about going to stay in New York with them and how they had only stayed there for a month before traveling. She tells him about some of the adventures and memories of the last year. As they are talking a man walks in calling her name. She squeals and runs over to hug him before dragging him over to meet Luka.
"Luka meet Jordan, Ro meet Luka"
"Hey man it is great to finally meet the famous Luka," Jordan greeted, "Nette hasn't stopped gushing about you,"
"Ignore him, he is delusional," Marinette said, smacking Jordan. Luka took a moment to study the man in front of him. He was tall. At least 6'. His blonde hair was broken up with green bangs. He was muscular and obviously very athletic. He was obviously graceful. His melody was bold and a wave of clashes and chimes. It surprised Luka the energy his melody brought on. What shocked him to the core though was the closeness he sensed between the two. He briefly wondered if they were together.
"Nice to meet you," Luka says
"Hey Ro, is Rae going to make it this week?" Marinette asked
"No she will be here with the love birds at the end of the month"
"That sucks," Marinette smirked, "you are insufferable without your girlfriend"
"Hey! First off she is my ex-girlfriend and I can be perfectly charming when I want to" he grinned, "So Luka, tell me all about nette before I met her. She hasn't stopped talking about you since we met. Everyone knows she likes you"
Luka looked at Marinette in surprise. Marinette blushed.
"Ro, if you don't shut up I will tell your mom who really broke her laptop when we were in Cairo." Marinette threatened. He looked horrified. Luka looked between them and started laughing.
"Ma ma ma Marinette," he grinned, "it hasn't been the same without you"
Jordan looked between the two in amusement.
"Hey I just realized you two match" he smirked
"What?" Marinette said in confusion at the out of the blue comment
"Your hair matches and your both wearing Jagged Stone merch" Jordan smirked
"He is right" Luka grinned, "so tell me Marinette was the color intentional?"
"Don't let her lie she asked Juleka how you got that shade and drove us all nuts until she found the dyes she needed to do it" Jordan interrupted before Marinette could answer. Marinette's face would give ladybugs costume a run for its money with how hard she was blushing.
"Now I remember why I locked you in the hotel bathroom in Milan last month" she glared
"Yeah that wasn't fair I wanted to meet queen bee"
"You met up with Chloe in Milan?" Luka asked in surprise
"Yes, and Adrien and Kagami," Marinette smiled. Jordan looked between them and grinned.
"Okay little sis I am out of here behave now" he smirked as he left, "no pantsing him in public"
"Oh my god Ro" she squealed as she turned red, "you are such an ass"
"Everyone loves my ass doll face" he said walking away. Marinette flipped him off as he left. She heard his laugh as she hid her face. She heard Luka chuckling and blushed deeper.
"So little sis huh? I didn't know you had a brother"
"I don't" Marinette groaned, "Jordan and his friends are older and they all started with the little sis thing the moment we met"
"Really. So where did you meet?" Luka asked
"Jordan is Gina's son" Marinette explained, "He is pretty cool when he isn't trying to embarrass me"
"That's good" Luka said thoughtfully, "So you saw Adrien and Kagami last month?"
"Yes," Marinette said softly, "it was a surprise. I have been keeping in touch with Chloe since New York. Her mom offered me an opportunity I couldn't turn down. Anyway Chloe and I met up for the fashion week opening last month and She decided to surprise me with Adrien and Kagami too. It was fun though. They make a cute couple"
"So, are there any boyfriends I should be worried about?"
"No," She smiled, "I have been too busy for that. How about you?"
"Nope no boyfriends," he teased. He laughed as she blushed again. "No girlfriends either"
"Really I am surprised some lucky girl hasn't swept you away yet. Oh well guess that means I won't be stepping on anyone's toes" she smiled. He looked at her in surprise as he realized what she said. He was about to say something when her phone went off. She pulled it out with a smile.
"It's my mom," she said before answering. She talked for a few minutes before hanging up. "Sorry she was just checking in since I haven't been home all day."
"Really" he said surprised
"It has been a busy day," Marinette said, "between getting everything set up at the school,meeting with a realtor and coffee with you I have been out of the house since early this morning"
"Realtor?"
"Yeah," Marinette said. " that offer from Chloe's mother was a sponsor for my own clothing line. Both Jordan and I are designers so she extended the offer to him also. We brought our friend Rae in too. I had a meeting to look at some potential places today"
"That's great" Luka said
"Hey, are you busy tonight?"
"For you never"
"I am having a get-together after supper. Would you come?"
"For you always" he said, surprised at the sincerity of that statement. He looked at her smiling face and couldn't help but get pulled in. "What time should I be there?"
"Say 7" she smiled, "I realize it is a school night so it shouldn't be too late a night"
"Okay" he said
"Good" she smiled before asking him what he had been doing while she was gone. They sat talking for an hour when her phone interrupted.
"I have to go, Kagami just got to the bakery," Marinette apologized. Luka smiled and shooed her off with a promise to see her later. She smiled and stood up. She waved as she left. He watched her go with a smile on his face. It suddenly hit him after she left what exactly she had meant by asking about his dating. He groaned as he realized the lecture he was going to endure at school. However, a small smile appeared as the waitress stopped to tell him how adorable he and his girlfriend were and how happy they all were to see them together again. He thanked her before heading out the door. He walked down the street to where he had parked his brand new motorcycle. He smirked as he pictured Marinette's expression when she realized what he bought. He decided to offer her a ride in the morning.
