Chapter 12
A couple hours passed and they were interrupted by Marinette's phone. She glanced at the caller I'd before answering.
"Hey Juleka" she answered
"Thank god you answered, have you heard from or seen Luka today?" Juleka rambled anxiously,
"I am with her right now" he called having heard his sister
"Marinette" Juleka shrieked, "was that my brother"
Marinette laughed as she put the phone on speaker
"Hello little sister"
"Where the hell have you been?" Juleka yelled. Making both of them flinch
"I walked Marinette home last night and then went to talk to Ace" Luka said, "I dropped in on Marinette this morning and have been with her since"
"Holy crap" Juleka shrieked excitedly, "you two are together right now. Where!"
"Juleka breathe," Marinette teased, " we are a little ways north of artists point"
"Okay" Juleka said hanging up
"Any chance she isn't on her way?" Marinette groaned
"Oh she is on her way" Luka laughed, "so let's just go back to what we were doing"
"But first a kiss" Marinette smiled
"But first a kiss" Luka agreed, kissing her.
Marinette was sketching an idea she had for a new concept and Luka was playing out a melody when they heard voices. They shared a smile before resuming what they were doing. Moments later Juleka, Rose, Adrien, Kagami, Mylene, and Ivan came barrelling up. Rose squealed when she saw them. They glanced up before sharing a look. They waited for them to reach them. Luka continued to play as Marinette continued to sketch. They arrived and started talking all at once. Marinette smiled and gestured to wait a minute as she finished putting the last details on the page. Luka leaned over to sneak a peek and steal a kiss. Marinette blushed at everyone's shocked look before smiling.
"Hey"
"Hey!" Juleka said, "don't hey me what the..when did? You know what never mind you two are finally not being stupid"
Marinette laughed before looking at Luka. He invited them to join them.
"Seriously this is what the two of you have been doing all day" Juleka said
"We had breakfast first" Luka shrugged, "after I met her cousin and helped him unload the delivery,"
"So let me get this straight, you got up before the sun to help Marinette?" Juleka said
"Yes"
"And took her out to breakfast"
"Yes"
"Then you two came here"
"Yes"
"That's so adorable" Rose squealed
"Uh huh" Juleka said, "so why here"
"It's Marinette's favorite spot to sketch," Adrien said, looking at the two with a smirk.
"And you know that, how?" Mylene asked
"Alya" Adrien shrugged
"Why did Alya tell you" Ivan asked
"I asked when I couldn't get a hold of Marinette after she was expelled. I wasn't at school because of a modeling gig. So I asked Alya" Adrien shrugged, "she told me if she wasn't at the bakery that I would find her here or with Luka and since he was avoiding her I came here"
"Wait, hold up, why was he avoiding her?" Kagami asked. Adrien looked at the two of them.
"Because he is stupid" Juleka answered
"Hey!" Luka said, "I thought it was a good reason at the time"
"You are stupid and stubborn" Juleka argued
"I am lost" Mylene said
"She finally realized how she felt about Luka," Juleka said pointing to Marinette, "and Luka saw her leave with Adrien who was trying to help her find a way to confess. However stupid took the conversation the wrong way and thought she was confessing to Adrien. Then instead of talking to her he started avoiding her"
"But they are together now?" Ivan asked
"We are taking it slow" Luka and Marinette said at the same time
"It's been 2 years since we last talked. We are still figuring it out," Marinette said after a glance at Luka. He nodded in agreement.
"I give up your both stupid" Juleka said throwing her hands up, "seriously the two of you just need to go screw each other and make it official already"
"Juleka" Rose admonished giggling. Everyone looked at Marinette and Luka who were both blushing furiously. Marinette quickly hid her face in his side. They all laughed teasing the not yet couple.
"By the way Alya says she hates us for ruining her ships" Adrien smirked at Marinette, "and she would like to know how much longer she has to be undercover"
"Yeah I have a plan for that...not her ships they are totally sunk" Marinette said, "as for her undercover gig if she asks again tell her soon"
"Undercover?" Juleka asked
"You will all know soon enough" Marinette said, "but for now I can't explain"
A little bit later Mylene and Ivan said their farewells and left. Marinette was snuggled into Luka's side with his arms around her. His guitar and her sketchbook lay discarded off to the side. Adrien and Kagami were sitting across from them holding hands. Rose and Juleka sat next to them snuggled together. Marinette smiled when she noticed Adrien was getting antsy after sitting still for so long. Luka smiled when he noticed it too. He leaned down to place a kiss on Marinette's cheek. She smiled up at him.
"Hey you guys want to go grab some lunch with us?" Luka asked. Adrien looked surprised but pleased. He looked at Kagami who nodded. Luka looked to his sister...who was busy making out with her girlfriend. He grinned mischievously and winked at Marinette. She silently laughed, having a pretty good idea of what he was about to do. He grabbed Marinette's phone from where it was sitting and took a picture of his sister and girlfriend. Then he quickly took a picture of Adrien and Kagami as they had just tried to sneak in a kiss. He smirked at Marinette before giving her back the phone. Then he turned to his sister and yelled, "hey Juleka off your girlfriend it's lunch time" Juleka jumped in surprise and her head collided with Rose's. They groaned in pain. Marinette tried to bite back her laugh. Luka smirked as he glanced at her.
"We are going to go get some lunch want to join us" Marinette asked them
"Sure where should we go?"
"Pizza?" Adrien asked
"How about we go to Salvatore's. Adrien can get pizza, Rose has vegetarian options and there is a good selection for the rest of us" Marinette suggested. Everyone agreed and as soon as Marinette and Luka were packed up they left.
"We should stop at the boat and drop this stuff off" Luka said
"Good idea" Marinette smiled
"Hey guys we are going to make a detour to drop this stuff off"
"Okay," Juleka said, heading that way. They got to the boat and Luka grabbed the stuff from Marinette. He dashed down to his room.
"So Marinette, how are things going at work?" Adrien asked
"Don't ask," she grumbled
"What happened?"
"Finn quit. Stormed out in the middle of a massive order" Marinette said, "Rae is currently in Milan trying to get it all straightened out which means she isn't here. Which means I am stuck with it"
"What about Jordan?"
"That stupid, idiotic mutton headed…"
"I hope you are not talking about me" Luka said as he walked out
"No apparently Jordan is in some hot water" Juleka laughed
"What did he do"
"He was supposed to be helping with set up until Rae gets here but he hasn't helped at all" Marinette grumbled
"Rae is your assistant right?" Rose asked,
"No Ally is my assistant. Rae is is our other partner"
"Ah so will Ally be able to help now that she is here" Luka asked
"Yeah she has a good idea of what to do. We are meeting up tomorrow evening to go over everything and for me to explain the blueprint layout. I managed to get the renovation crew in by 10 Monday morning and they had all the work done for the basement and first 5 floors. They finished Thursday morning. So I spent Friday getting the equipment ordered and delivered. For now everything is still boxed up in the rooms they need to go in. Ally will start that Monday. I have two weeks until the crew comes back to finish though. So we will cut it close to our deadlines"
"Sounds like you've been busy" Adrien said
"It has been a crazy week" Marinette shrugged
They talked a bit more about some of the renovations and what they had planned as they walked to the restaurant. They managed to get a table right away and put their orders in.
Marinette was leaning against Luka as they all talked. She smiled as they teased Rose and Juleka.
"Excuse me Marinette" a young boy said as he walked up to their table. The others looked at her in surprise.
"Coltan" Marinette grinned, jumping up and high fiving the boy. He giggled.
"Is he your boyfriend?" Coltan asked, trying to whisper.
"Maybe" Marinette smiled
"Is he a hero too?"
"Of course he is," Marinette smiled as she kneeled down to his level "remember everyone is a hero in their own way. You don't need superpowers to be an everyday hero"
"Right. You just need kindness, love and something else" he grinned
"Courage to do what is right" Marinette smiled
"That's right" he grinned
"Would you like to say hello to everyone"
"Yes," he smiled, taking her hand and pulling her to the table.
"Everyone this is Coltan, Coltan these are my friends Adrien, Kagami, Rose, Juleka and Luka" Marinette said "Coltan is a big Chat noir fan. I used to watch him for his mom"
"Really a Chat Noir fan?" Adrien said excited
"Is he?" Coltan asked before waiting for her answer. Marinette smiled and nodded. The little boy immediately launched himself at Adrien; he barely managed to catch him in a hug. Coltan was giggling, practically bouncing in his lap with excitement.
"Does your mom know you're with us?" Marinette asked,
"No, I had to stay with my uncle this week. Mommy had to leave again. I told him I saw someone I knew and he told me to go."
"Okay kiddo let's go find him so he knows your safe"
"But," coltan whined,
"None of that now remember you are an everyday hero and have to set an example" Marinette smiled, "now let's go find your uncle and maybe we can see if you can come over for a sleepover later this week"
"Okay" he giggled, grabbing Marinette's hand and dragging her away. She followed him to the door where his uncle was waiting.
"Coltan," his uncle scolded, "I am so sorry miss"
"It's fine, it is alway good to see him," Marinette smiled. "sorry I am Marinette. I know his mother Sophia"
"You are Marinette?" He smiled "pleased to meet you I am Antonio. I hope he didn't bother you and your friends too much"
"No bother at all" Marinette smiled, "actually I was wondering if It would be okay if he came over later this week for a sleepover"
"I am sure we can do that" the man smiled,
"Here let me give you my contact information" she smiled, pulling a card from her pocket and handing it to him.
"Okay Coltan say goodbye so we can get going"
"Okay bye Marinette see you soon" Coltan called as they left. She waved goodbye and headed back to the table. She sat down and curled up to Luka again.
"Everyday heroes?" Adrien teased knowing what it meant.
"He's a Chat fan. I figured it would fit," she teased back before she noticed their food had arrived. she smiled and started eating. The others laughed and followed suit.
"There is obviously a story there"
"Sure but it isn't like it is a big deal" Adrien shrugged, "you remember the hero's day everything Marinette had planned came apart last second?"
"Yes" Rose and Juleka said
"I caught her crying before she asked everyone to help," Adrien said, "she was upset and said she wasn't good enough. I..."
"He came over and said to me even Ladybug needs help sometimes" Marinette interrupted "the next thing I know he calls me an everyday Ladybug"
"You missed some details but good enough" Adrien teased as Marinette rolled her eyes at him. They chatted while they finished eating. Once they were done Adrien insisted on paying and they let him. They chatted for a bit before heading outside
"Do you still want to go ice skating?" Luka asked Marinette.
"Yes" she giggled
"You guys want to join us?" He asked the others. Rose and Juleka declined, deciding to head back to the boat.
"Same color right Marinette?" Rose asked before they separated.
"Yea but I can grab it before I come over" Marinette said
"No need we can grab it and give you and Luka some extra time together" Juleka smirked, "besides we are stopping there on the way anyway"
"Okay if you are sure just tell me what I owe you" Marinette said, "hey will you stop by the bakery and pick up my bag for tonight while your out"
"See you later Marinette," Juleka smiled and nodded, "oh and Luka expect to join us to"
Luka laughed as they took off.
"So what are guys doing tonight?" Kagami asked
"Touching up my color in my hair and watching movies" Marinette answered, "if you guys want to join I am sure Juleka won't mind"
"That's sweet but I think Adrien and I are gonna have our own night in" Kagami smiled, "we will join you for ice skating though"
"Okay let's go," Marinette smiled. Luka took her hand in his as they walked. He smiled as she smiled. They got to the ice rink a few minutes later and headed in. Marinette and Luka were on the ice a few minutes before Kagami and Adrien. Adrien paused for a moment to watch them.
"Something wrong?" Kagami asked
"No it is just good to see her so happy" Adrien smiled, "they look perfect together"
"Yeah they do" Kagami smiled taking his hand in hers, "just like us"
"Just like us," Adrien smiled happily, "you know it's funny just before she left I had this moment when I realized that I might like her more than a friend and then I sought her out at the spot we found them in today. She was sketching away completely oblivious to everything around her. Happy to just sit there sketching. And I realized that she and I would never fit. Seeing her and Luka though. He is perfect for her. Just like you are perfect for me"
"I love you" Kagami smiled at him
"And I love you" he replied kissing her
"Okay let's go show them how it's done" Kagami smiled as he grabbed her hand pulling her into the ice. They quickly passed Marinette and Luka who were too busy paying attention to each other. After a while Kagami insisted on skating with Marinette. They laughed as they raced. Kagami won by an inch. Marinette giggled trying to catch her breath when Luka asked her when she learned to skate so well.
"I had this great teacher once who told me to be natural, to go with the flow and listen to the rhythm," she said, referring to their first time skating with Kagami and Adrien. "Jordan and some of his friends helped after I left," she shrugged.
"You are incredible, you know that?" He said kissing her
"And you are pretty amazing," she said, kissing him. He smiled, twirling her on the ice before kissing her again. She giggled as she was pulled away and across the rink. She laughed as Adrien stumbled trying to steal her away. She laughed turning around so she was in front skating backwards helping steady him. Kagami was standing next to Luka laughing.
"It is good to see them goofing around" Kagami smiled
"It is." He smiled, taking a moment to enjoy just watching Marinette goof around. She looked up and met his eyes. She smirked before letting Adrien go and grabbing Kagami and taking off. Marinette and Kagami were soon spinning around each other laughing. Adrien grabbed the wall for support trying to catch his breath.
"Those are our girls" Adrien smiled happily
"Yeah they are," Luka said watching them and knowing Adrien was right
"They are amazing"
"Yeah they are"
"We are pretty lucky aren't we Luka"
"Pretty sure we are the luckiest guys in the world"
"I agree," Adrien smiled, "we better not screw this up"
"Nope," Luka grinned as the two women flew towards them. Marinette quickly launched herself at him giggling. He caught her holding tight. He leaned down, giving her a quick kiss. She giggled happily. A familiar song started playing and Marinette grabbed his hand pulling back onto the ice. They skated and danced to Jagged Stones Miraculous song.
"He is still my favorite artist" Luka grinned listening to the music
"I know" Marinette smiled as they skated. Soon enough the song was over and they were once again joined by Adrien and Kagami.
