Chapter 15
After a short stop at the bakery for her bags Marinette and Luka were on their way to the Liberty. They took their time walking just enjoying each other's company. When they boarded, Anarka smiled softly seeing them together.
"New co-captain son?"
"Yeah," Luka smiled, "you remember Marinette"
"Sure but what does that…" Anarka said before realizing what he was saying, " Marinette you've grown to a beautiful young woman while you've been away"
"Thanks captain" Marinette blushed
"None of that nonsense it's Ma" the woman smiled
"Okay Ma" Marinette beamed
"Alright off you go pizza will be here in 20 minutes" she smiled
"Thanks Ma," Luka grinned, pulling Marinette down the hall. She giggled happily. They headed to his room. Marinette smiled as she collapsed on his bed. He grinned at her sprawled out with her hair fanning around her. He quickly fell beside her pulling her against him.
"Your mom seems different, more calm than I remember," Marinette commented, laying her head on his chest.
"Jules thinks she has a new boyfriend" Luka smiled, "she been like this a few months"
"And what do you think" Marinette smiled
"I don't know" Luka shrugged, "but it is nice seeing her so happy"
They snuggled together stealing kisses until Anarka called out that the pizza had arrived. Luka told her to stay put and he would be right back. She smiled as she waited happily humming to herself. He walked in with the pizza smiling as she hummed. He kissed her and handed her her pizza. She beamed up at him waiting for him to settle beside her before digging in. An hour passed with them eating and stealing kisses. Marinette was giggling at something he said when he grabbed her around the waist and kissed her. She wrapped her arms around him, deepening the kiss. When they pulled away they were both breathless.
"I love you" he said
"And I love you" She smiled
"Okay before my sister realizes you are here and bursts in" Luka groaned sitting up, "did you get all caught up on your work?"
"I did" Marinette smiled
"Good," he smiled softly, looking at her, "so can I ask about Daniel?"
"He's my brother," Marinette said a look he knew well in her eyes, "or more specifically my half brother"
"Oh" Luka said surprised
"My dad doesn't know about him yet"
"Then how?"
"We ran into each other quite literally a few months ago at the temple in Tibet" Marinette said
"Only you darling," Luka chuckled kissing her
"I will have you know my kluziness has greatly improved the last two years" She giggled, "Gina had me take a crash course in gymnastics it has worked wonders"
"Okay so if your dad doesn't know then how did you find out he is your brother?"
"His mom is a guardian," Marinette said, "I was training under her when I met Daniel. She recognized my last name and asked if I knew Tom Dupang. She had this look in her eyes when I said that he was my dad…"
"I asked how she knew him. She just smiled and said they used to be friends and partners." Marinette said after a pause, "the way she said it. I suspected there was more. But she refused to say anything until she saw Daniel and I talking. She was afraid that we would mistake our connection for something more. I think it shocked her when I told her that I already suspected the connection was sibling and not a love connection. I told her that I had already found my soulmate and that I would be returning to him at the end of my training. She smiled like she knew something I didn't. She started to tell me that just because Chat and I were partners didn't make us soulmates. Imagine her shock when I told her Chat was just a good friend and someone else had stolen my heart"
Luka looked at her in surprise. "You knew it wasn't him? Even before you knew who was behind the mask?"
"I knew the moment I met you that there was something deeper. I knew when I went home and sketched 30 designs that I loved right away. I knew when your music could read my melody so well. I knew the first time you rescued me it was destined to be"
"Why didn't you?"
"Because I wasn't ready," Marinette smiled, "my heart heard your song but my head wasn't ready to listen. Master Ian said it was normal especially for miraculous holders whose miraculous are tied to another's they reverberate too closely causing mixed signals. Plagg and Tikki's heartsongs are strong and often confuse the users. When I was crushing on Adrien it was Tikki recognising Plagg not necessarily me being in love with him. If that makes sense?"
"It does," Luka smiled, "I am just glad it all worked out. So tell me more about Daniel"
"He is 5 years older. He knew who his dad was and that our dad doesn't know of his existence. He is a bit much sometimes. I don't really know him very well beyond that. He is very closed off because of the secrecy of the miraculouses" Marinette said, "He doesn't mince his words or hold back. He was hard to beat in fight"
"He was?"
"He made a really good hand to hand trainer. He pulled no punches. He gave everything his all. He never once went easy on me. It helped a lot"
"I am glad darling" Luka smiled seeing the happiness in her eyes. He sat listening to her talk for a couple hours about the training she went through and some of her adventures. He wrapped his arms around her as she talked. Content to listen to her talk. He heard Rose and Juleka giggling in the living room and smiled. After a while Marinette had slowly started to trail off. He smiled a few minutes later when she went quiet. She was sound asleep laying on his chest. He smiled before shifting them so they were laying down. He fell asleep listening to her breathing.
The next morning they woke up to their alarms. Marinette snuggled against Luka refusing to wake up. Luka chuckled, giving her a quick kiss. He knew they had a few minutes until they had to get up and had set his alarm so he could have a few minutes to snuggle with her. He watched her blinking slowly as she woke up. She smiled softly, wrapping her arms around him again.
"I don't want to get up" she groaned snuggling into him
"I know darling but we have school," he smiled, "besides Liza and Ace have been asking about you all week"
"I know Liza showed up at the store Friday with coffee," Marinette groaned sitting up. She blinked away the last of the sleep. She reached over to kiss him. He smiled and kissed her back.
"Come on up we go" he smiled pulling her up off the bed. She giggled, wrapping her arms around him. He smiled as he realized he could get used to this. She let him go and headed to her bag to gather her clothes.
"I am stealing the shower" she called as she headed into the bathroom
"Okay dear" he chuckled as he stripped off his clothes and changed into clean clothes. He was putting his books in his bag when she walked out. Her hair was still damp and her face was makeup free. He smiled watching her walk across the room to him.
"You are absolutely gorgeous darling" He grinned
"I know" she grinned, reaching up to kiss him. He kissed her deeper before a knock at the door broke them apart.
"Wake up love birds" Juleka called out
"Already awake" Luka called back, "you got everything you need?"
"Yeah" Marinette smiled, "let's get to school we can pick this up later"
"You are going to kill me darling" he smiled as he wrapped his arms around her
"But what a way to go right" she winked and headed to the door. She giggled happily as he grabbed her around the waist and they headed out the door. Juleka and Rose were sitting on the deck laughing. Juleka looked up and started laughing more. Rose looked up and the next thing they knew Rose was tackling them, squealing in excitement and Juleka was laughing hysterically.
"Why?" Marinette asked. Luka looked at her with a shrug totally confused also.
"Okay crazy morning people," Luka said teasing, " my girlfriend and I are going to be late if you don't release us"
"Sure but Marinette you may want to change your shirt" Juleka smirked. Marinette looked down at her shirt.
"Why?" Marinette asked looking at Luka
"Don't look at me I didn't say it" Luka said
"You are hopeless" Juleka smirked, "you are aware that you are once again wearing my brother's shirt"
"One it isn't his shirt it is mine and two since when would that bother you?"
"Oh it doesn't bother me" Juleka smirked, "however you are really hopeless. You are going to be the talk of the day"
Marinette shrugged and turned around to grab her bag from where it fell when Rose tackled them. Rose suddenly shrieked. Marinette winced and looked at her in confusion.
"It's autographed" Juleka said in explanation
"I am aware. Jagged sent it to me a few months ago" Marinette smiled
"Why?" Rose asked
"Thank you present for designing his last three album covers" Marinette shrugged before glancing at the time, "We better go before we are late"
Luka nodded as he took her hand and they headed out. He got on the bike and waited for her to wrap her arms around him. He smiled as she pressed herself against him. They arrived at the school and Luka parked the bike in his spot. Marinette slid the helmet off, shaking her hair loose. She was still pressed against him and Luka groaned at the movement. Marinette slowly climbed off the bike. Luka smiled as he saw the crowd gathered. He smirked, pulling his helmet off and getting off the bike. He grabbed Marinette and quickly kissed her.
"Darling you are going to be the death of me"
"So you keep saying" she smiled as he wrapped her in his arms. He heard their names being called and glanced up
"Incoming friends" he smirked, kissing her again.
"Ten bucks says Ace faceplants when we tell them were dating" Marinette giggled
"Twenty says Liza squeals" Luka grinned
"Hundred says your stalker girlfriend tries to start a fight or gets her friends to do it"
"I love you" he smiled, kissing her.
"I love you too," she said, kissing him again. They pulled apart when Liza's high pitch squeal made them cringe. They looked up to see Ace on the ground, Liza squealing and jumping up and down and half the school watching in amusement.
"Called it" they said together before laughing. Luka smirked when he noticed Alaynah coming towards them. He kissed Marinette.
"Get your hands off my man" Alaynah shouted, shoving Marinette away from Luka. Ace had run over when he saw her coming and managed to catch Marinette before she fell.
"Back off Alaynah and leave my girlfriend alone" Luka said, grabbing Marinette's hand and pulling her against him.
"Girlfriend!" She shrieked
"Yes now back off" Ace glared
"Your going to pay for this you stupid whore" Alaynah said glaring at Marinette. Marinette smiled and waved as Alaynah stormed off.
"Wait until she finds out you're the owner of JAM. Gabriel Agreste was livid with her this weekend and told her she'd never work in his company again"
"Speaking of JAM my assistant should be calling you sometime this week about a job with us" Marinette smiled, " Ace you should be getting a call to"
"Really" he grinned
"Yes Juleka should be getting the official call to but I have already asked her personally" Marinette smiled happily
"So girlfriend huh?" Liza grinned towards Luka
"Yes girlfriend," Luka said, pulling Marinette against him.
"Oh my god that's freaking amazing" Liza squealed, tackling the couple in a huge hug. Marinette laughed as Ace immediately jumped in too. They all ended up on the ground laughing. The bell rang, ending the laughing. Luka jumped up to help Marinette up. They headed to class. As soon as they had sat down the second bell rang and the teacher walked in. Class began and Marinette was so focused that she was oblivious to her boyfriend and friends texting back and forth the entire class. Marinette laughed when Luka asked to borrow her notes after school. He shrugged and admitted that he had been distracted and hadn't taken notes. Marinette smiled and smacked his arm before handing him the notes and walking towards her next class. He quickly stopped her to give her a kiss. She blushed and with a wave and air kiss in his direction headed to her next class.
Marinette smiled as she walked into class. It had been a great morning and she was looking forward to Miss Bustier's class. She walked in surprised to see Alaynah and her friends waiting for her. She ignored them and sat in her seat. They immediately crowded her.
"Did you want something" Marinette asked in a bored tone
"Back of my boyfriend" Alaynah glared
"I am sorry, do I know you?" Marinette said
"You stupid bitch!" Alaynah shrieked, going to slap Marinette. Before she could, Marinette stopped her. She had grabbed her wrist mid air. Alaynah sputtered and shrieked. Marinette smiled and let go.
"I don't recommend trying that again," Marinette said, "I know 13 types of martial arts and have been training the last two years on 5 to one combat. With me being the one. Now run along to your class blondie and stay the hell away from Luka and I"
"He is my boyfriend not yours!" She shouted
"That's hilarious blondie," Marinette grinned, "but seriously get over yourself Luka and I are together and we have no intentions of it ending"
"How dare you. Wait until my father hears of this!" She shrieked. Marinette just rolled her eyes at the tantrum and started getting ready for class. Alaynah attempted to grab her sketchbook but was stopped by Marinette.
"Don't try me blondie because there is not a single thing you or your father can do to me" Marinette said coldly, "now run along. This conversation is done"
Alaynah tried to hit Marinette again but this time was stopped by another classmate. Marinette shot him a grateful smile before turning to look at the blonde.
"You are not worth the effort blondie," Marinette shrugged before turning to the classmate, "thank you for your help. I appreciate it"
"I'm sure you could have handled it yourself," he smiled, "but your boyfriend is a good guy and you must be pretty miraculous to have caught his eye"
"I am Marinette" she smiled introducing herself
"Adam Dulce" he smiled, "I have heard alot about you"
"Good things I hope," she said
"Of course is there anything not good about you?," he teased
"I am sure my friends could think of a few" she laughed
"I don't know about that princess" he laughed, "Adrien Agreste always has nice things to say about his best friend Marinette"
"He is bias," Marinette grinned, "however he is a great friend"
"So tell me Marinette," he smiled, "how come you didn't follow him and the others to Belleville? I heard they made you an offer they were sure you couldn't refuse"
"Their offer was a year too late," Marinette smiled, "I had already completed the schooling and was working on credits for here. Besides, I was busy traveling. So how do you know Adrien"
"We work together from time to time," Adam shrugged. Marinette was saved from responding by the bell ringing and the teacher walking in.
"Marinette good to see you back did you get everything settled" she asked
"Mostly" Marinette smiled, "my assistant will handle what's left for this week. I make no promises after that though"
"Very good, just be sure to let me know if you need anything. Mayor Bourgeois and his wife have made it very clear where their support lies"
"I will do my best not to let anyone down," Marinette smiled. The teacher nodded and class began. Alaynah was fuming when class was over. Marinette smiled as Adam asked what the teacher was talking about. Marinette dodged the question. They walked out of the classroom. Marinette's face lit up when she saw Luka waiting.
"Must be the boyfriend" Adam teased, "see you tomorrow Marinette"
"See you tomorrow" Marinette smiled, shooting him a smile and wave as she hurried toward Luka. She flung herself into his arms grinning as he caught her with a laugh.
"One of these days your going to send us both to the ground" he teased, "come on the others are waiting"
"Let's go then," Marinette smiled, giving him a kiss before he pulled her tighter and kissed her deeper. She melted into him. When they pulled apart a few students had their phones out taking pictures. Marinette blushed, hiding her face in his chest. She felt him chuckling. He wrapped his arms around her.
"Sorry" he smiled
"Why?"
"Didn't mean to get carried away"
"I like it when you do"
"Oh yeah?" He smirked,
"Down boy any more carried away and we'll be missing the rest of the day" she said
"You are trying to kill me darling aren't you?" Luka growled as tucked her under his arm and they headed to their next class. She giggled and kissed his cheek. He dropped a kiss on her nose, nudging her into her classroom. She giggled as she walked in. She stopped at the teacher's desk. He looked up in surprise "Marinette good to see you back. I was under the impression that you wouldn't be here until the end of the week"
"I got lucky, my assistant made it earlier than expected and is willing to take over. I may have to step out to answer any questions or deal with any problems but it should be fairly infrequent this week"
"That's good to hear. Now, did you have any questions about the work from last week?"
"No it was pretty easy," Marinette smiled as she handed him the assignments, "thank you for being so willing to accommodate my schedule"
"Not at all" he waved her off. Marinette smiled and headed to her desk. When the bell rang moments later he began the lesson. They finished with fifteen minutes to spare. Marinette had just started the first few questions when a soft voice interrupted
"Excuse me"
"Yeah" Marinette smiled looking up
"I am really really sorry to bother you but I overheard you telling Professor Black that the work from last week was easy and I was…" the girl trailed of nervously
"Wondering if I could help you" Marinette asked
"Yeah" she sighed embarrassed
"Sure no problem," Marinette smiled, "what part are you stuck on"
"Thank you so much," the girl exclaimed, showing Marinette the paper. Marinette smiled and began explaining it. They worked on it until the bell rang.
"Do you think you got it?" Marinette asked gently
"I think so" the girl smiled, "by the way I am Levy"
"Marinette" she smiled introducing herself, "if you need any more help let me know"
"I will, thanks" she smiled. Marinette quickly gathered up her stuff and noticed Levy waiting at the door. She smiled and after securing her bag walked over. Marinette stopped to talk knowing Luka was waiting.
"Is everything okay Levy?" Marinette asked gently
"Yeah I was hoping Alaynah and her friends would be gone already," she sighed
"They giving you trouble?" Marinette asked. The girl nodded. "Do you have a class now?"
"Yeah I have Advanced Media" she said
"Oh you're in class with Jordan?" Marinette smiled
"You know him?"
"He's my adoptive brother" Marinette smiled, "my boyfriend is waiting but how would you like us to walk you to class"
"Really?" The girl smiled excitedly
"Sure," Marinette smiled, pulling the girl across the hall. "Hey rockstar we are gonna walk Levy here to class before we head to lunch okay"
"Sure Darling" he smiled, "hey I am Luka"
"Levy" the girl smiled introducing herself
"Ok ladies shall we" Luka smiled, taking Marinette's hand. They arrived at the classroom and Marinette was surprised by the girl suddenly hugging her.
"Thanks so much!" The girl said dashing into the classroom. Luka smiled at his girlfriend's surprise. He laughed as Jordan came barrelling out of the classroom.
"Everything okay?"
"Yeah it's fine" Marinette said, "Levy is getting bullied by Alaynah and her friends and I offered to walk her to class."
"Okay which one's Levy?" He asked. Marinette smiled and pointed her out. "Okay I got her back"
"Thanks Ro" Marinette smiled giving a quick hug before she and Luka left. Luka chuckled at the scene as they walked.
"What's so funny" she asked
"You and Ro" Luka smiled
" Yeah?" She asked
"It's just...it amazes me to see the two of you. You sometimes have full conversations with no words. You said Levy was getting picked on and he immediately went into over protective big brother mode" Luka shrugged. Marinette smiled and nodded.
"He does that" she said
"You did to" he reminded her, "she was afraid and you didn't hesitate to help"
"I guess so" Marinette shrugged
"I love you darling so much" he smiled kissing her
"And I love you," Marinette smiled happily. They headed to lunch to find Liza and Ace waiting
"What took so long" Ace asked
"We walked Marinette's new friend to class" Luka shrugged
"Why?" Liza asked
"Alaynah and her friends are picking on her" Marinette said
"That sucks, poor girl," Liza groaned, remembering her own run-ins with the blonde girl.
"So I have a question," Marinette said, "is Alaynah always so violent or is it just me?"
"What do you mean violent?" Luka's eyes widened
"We are in the second period together and she got up in my face. I pretty much told her off and she tried to hit me. I stopped that. She continued to get into my face which was easy enough to ignore until she tried to hit me again" Marinette said, "Adam stopped her the second time and got rid of her. But now I am curious if she is that violent with everyone"
"She what" Luka growled
"Relax, I can handle her," Marinette smiled, kissing him. He shot her a look. She raised her eyebrows and he simply huffed and let it go
"Okay seriously you two" Ace groaned, "you don't even need words anymore"
"Okay let me get this straight Alaynah tried to hit you not once but twice" Liza asked
"Yeah, why is that not normal?" Marinette asked as Luka hissed. Marinette looked at him and burst out laughing. Luka looked at them embarrassed.
"Dude, your wife is even more badass than you," Ace said, smacking Luka on the back. Luka tried hard not to wince but knew he hadn't fully succeeded when Marinette smiled his way. There was a gleam in her eyes that told him Ace was about to go down. Suddenly he was hit with what Ace had said.
"Ace is there something you need to tell us" she asked sweetly
"No"
"Huh really because you very clearly called me Luka's wife" Marinette smiled, "and I am fairly confident that if we had gotten married you would have told us right?"
"It was supposed to be a joke," Ace whined, "please don't kill me"
"I am not going to kill you" Marinette smiled sweetly looking at him, "death is much better than my plans for you"
Everyone laughed at Ace's horrified expression. Marinette was snuggled into Luka's side laughing hysterically. Liza was looking at them all like they're crazy. Ace was trying to hide.
"Now that darling was priceless" he smiled, holding her tighter.
"Can we skip the rest of the day?" she whispered in his ear. He swore, making Marinette laugh and his friends glance their way. Marinette was laughing and Luka was beet red.
"Okay do we want to know" Liza asked
"I just asked if we could" Luka's hand over her mouth cut her off
"Yep definitely do not want to know" Liza smirked
"Maybe Friday we can cut early," Luka grinned, whispering in her ear. He smirked when her eyes went wide and she suddenly twisted into his lap wrapping her arms around him. He chuckled and kissed her again.
"Definitely do not want to know" Liza muttered
Marinette was about to reply when the bell rang. Luka laughed and picked her up, grabbing their bags. She giggled as he carried her to class. He set her down outside the class with a grin. He leaned down to give her a kiss and she wrapped her arms around him kissing him back. He pulled back with a smile, handing her her bag and telling her to enjoy her class. She walked into the classroom and stopped at the teacher's desk. Mrs. Allen looked up in surprise.
"Marinette, good to see back," she smiled, "did you have time to get everything done?"
"I do, it's right..." Marinette smiled while digging in her bag only to realize she had Luka's school bag, "in my bag with my boyfriend. Apparently we swapped bags"
"No worries" she smiled "just bring it tomorrow"
"I will" Marinette promised, "I might be leaving early Friday"
"That's fine just let me know"
"I will," Marinette said, heading to her desk. She had a few minutes until class started and decided she better text her boyfriend about the mix up.
MDC: Hey sweetie you stole my bag lol.
LC: Sorry darling did you need it
MDC: Not really other than to take notes
LC: I am headed to music study. Just use one of my notebooks and we'll swap between classes. I love you
MDC: Okay will do I love you to and I miss you ready
LC: I miss you to darling
LC: Mr. Shane and Mr. Strong both said it's cool if I miss Friday. I will ask Mr. Brown next. Hopefully he says it's okay to then we can leave early
MDC:AWESOME I should be fine for my classes but I will let you know at the end of today
LC: okay darling pay attention in class I love you
