Chapter 22
The next morning they woke to their alarms and Juleka shouting down the hall. Marinette groaned, burying her face in chest. She felt Luka chuckle. She smiled as his arms wrapped around her. She sighed happily looking up at him. He was smiling as he looked at her. He quickly pulled her closer to kiss her when he realized that she was awake. She kissed him back before rolling over to stretch.
"Good Morning darling" he smiled trailing kisses on her neck.
"Good morning rock star" she smiled, turning to capture his lips.
"Gross" Juleka said barging in and seeing them kissing
"Good morning dear sister of mine" Luka said pulling away from Marinette, "to what do we owe the early morning barging in?"
"I need my sister for a minute" Juleka said
"Okay give me five to get dressed," Marinette groaned, getting out of bed.
"Feel free to continue raiding my closet darling" Luka teased
"I will remember that tomorrow" Marinette laughed, grabbing the bag she had packed the night before and pulling clothes from the bag. She walked into the bathroom to change.
"Things are going well?" Juleka asked the minute the door shut
"Yes"
"No more freak outs?"
"No, I think we are past that" Luka said standing up.
"You screw her brains out yet?"
"Jesus christ Juleka," Luka groaned
"What it is legit question" she smirked
"What is?" Marinette asked, walking out of the bathroom wearing a black pleated skirt and teal Jagged stone shirt tied at her waist. Luka groaned. Juleka laughed. Marinette looked at them both like they were crazy.
"I asked my brother if he had" Juleka started until she wat cut off my Luka's hand covering her mouth
"She is being a perv" Luka said
"In other words asking if we have had sex yet" Marinette laughed
"How did you.." Luka said releasing his sister, "nevermind I don't want to know"
"Anyway, what did you need help with?" Marinette said turning to Juleka
"Come with me," Juleka said, pulling her from the room. Marinette followed behind. Juleka dragged her into her room and handed her a shirt. Marinette saw the tear right away. She looked it over and told Juleka to grab her purse quickly. A few minutes later Juleka came back with the bag and handed it to her. Marinette pulled out a small sewing kit and quickly mended the tear. Juleka hugged her.
"Thank you thank you thank you" Juleka said hugging Marinette again, "Rose and I have matching tops and are supposed to wear them today and then I noticed the tear and almost died"
"It was an easy fix" marinette shrugged
"You are the best Marinette" Juleka smiled, hugging Marinette one more time before going to get ready for school. Marinette smiled and headed back to the bedroom. When she walked in Luka was shirtless. He turned around with a smirk when he realized it was her.
"I missed you" he smiled, pulling her against his chest. She giggled, reaching up to kiss him.
"I missed you too but you better hurry and get ready" Marinette smiled, going to grab her school bag. She walked out the door and headed to the deck. She heard him come behind her a few minutes later. He wrapped his arms around her kissing her neck. She giggled, turning in his arms to kiss him.
"Okay Darling we better go or we will never hear the end of it from our friends"
"I like how you say that"
"What?"
"Come on rockstar be better get going" she smiled heading off the boat and to his bike. She tossed her bag in the hold and waited for him to catch up. He chuckled as he caught up with her, wrapping her in his arms and pulling her against him.
"Luka" she giggled as he suddenly scooped her up and deposited her on the bike.
"Okay darling to school we go" he smirked, "but at some point today you are going to have to explain what you said"
Marinette laughed as she started the bike and took off for the school. Luka smirked when they arrived in half the time it would have taken for him to get there. They pulled into a parking spot and Luka wrapped his arms around her tighter around her. She giggled, leaning back into his arms.
"Luka, Marinette" Ace shouted as he walked up, "quit being cute and hurry up I need to talk to you two"
"Let's go rockstar," Marinette giggled. Luka groaned and stood up. He grabbed her around the waist and helped her off. He shooed her in Ace's direction. She kissed his cheek before heading over to Ace.
"Good morning' she smiled
"As soon as Luka gets here I have to tell you something" Ace said
"Sounds serious" Marinette said
"It is" Ace said
"What is going on?" Luka said walking up
"Ace has something serious to talk to us about" Marinette said
"Ace?"
"Let's take a walk," Ace said, motioning to them. They shared a look before following him. He led them across the street to a cafe and gestured for them to order. They looked at him puzzled before ordering. Ace jumped in and ordered something for himself and Liza before paying. Luka and Marinette shared another look before their drinks were ready.
"Okay what's going on Ace?" Luka said
"Not that we mind you buying us coffee but obviously something is bothering you" Marinette said, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Okay," Ace said, grabbing his and Liza's coffee, "you know how I have been helping out at that cafe on Hilden Street right?"
"Yeah"
"Well last night around 9 Becca and one of her friends walked in," Ace said, "I wasn't eavesdropping or anything but they were loud and I overheard it. I thought I imagined it at first but then some brunette walked in and joined them. They never saw me but I heard most of their conversation. They were plotting to hurt Marinette"
"Hurt how?" Luka asked
"I didn't catch specifics," Ace sighed, "I was needed at the till and they left as soon as they saw me"
"Okay we will keep an eye out" Marinette said giving Ace a hug, "thank you for telling us"
"I am sorry it isn't much" Ace said
"It is enough for us to keep an eye out" Marinette smiled sipping her coffee, "this is really good coffee"
"Only you Darling" Luka smiled, "thanks for letting us know we will keep an eye out"
"Sorry I didn't get more information" Ace said as they arrived back at the school.
"Morning," Liza yawned while walking up. Ace smiled, handing her the coffee he bought her. She smiled leaning against him. They stood talking when Marinette's phone rang.
"Sorry guys, it's Audrey , I better take this. I will meet you in class. Luka, will you let Mr. Bronte know I will be late?" She sighed
"Of course darling," he said, kissing her cheek. He watched her answer as she walked away. She was pacing as she talked when the bell rang. When the bell rang they headed to class leaving her to finish the call.
Class was half over when she finally arrived at class. She slipped in quietly and headed to her seat. She took out her notebook ignoring Luka's look. Mr. Bronte glanced up from his lecture but continued on with the lesson. When class was over he asked her to stay behind.
"Marinette, is everything okay?"
"Yes, it's fine," Marinette smiled, "sorry I was so late Audrey Bourgeois held me up this morning. She wanted a full account of our progress on the new location"
"Really" he said surprised
"She holds an interest in the company," Marinette smiled, "I would like to say that this is a rare thing but it happens at least once a month."
"I see," he said, "I will get you a copy of the notes and let you get on to your next class,"
"Thank you," Marinette smiled. He handed her the notes and she headed out the door. Luka was waiting for her.
"Everything okay? You were really late"
"Yes everything is fine. Audrey wanted a full progress report and then had tons of questions about the new clothing lines. She has concerns we won't meet the deadlines," Marinette shrugged
"I missed you" he smiled kissing her
"I missed you more" she said as they broke apart
"Let's get to class" he smirked, taking her hand and pulling her towards her class. When they got to the class he gave her a quick kiss and promised to see her after class before he rushed off to his own class. As soon as class ended Marinette stepped out to see Luka waiting for her. She smiled and walked up to him.
"I hate physics," she groaned before kissing him. He smiled trying to hide his laugh at her.
"I know you have said this several times" he teased, "will Adrien be able to help you with it tonight or should I ask Liza to stop over?"
"I don't know. I will ask on break later" Marinette sighed, "how was your class?"
"It was okay," he smiled, "we should probably go before we are late"
"Okay let's go" she giggled as he walked her to her class. He gave her a quick kiss before kissing her and taking off for his own class.
Luka was waiting outside the door when class ended. Marinette waved to Levy before she walked out. The girl smiled and waved, waiting in the classroom. Marinette smirked when she saw Jordan darting towards the classroom.
"Is Chloe gonna care that he is doing that?" Luka asked as they walked away
"With her who knows" Marinette shrugged
"Are we going out for lunch today or joining Liza and Ace?"
"Up to you rockstar I am good with either"
"Let's get out of here I want some time alone with you"
"Sounds good to me" she giggled
They arrived back from lunch as the bell rang. With a quick kiss they took off for class. Marinnette slid into her chair as the last bell rang. She let out a relieved sigh as she pulled out her books. She smiled as Adam moved to the seat next to her.
"Hey Marinette, how was your break?" he asked
"Good Luka and I went to our favorite cafe for lunch" Marinette smiled, "how about you?"
"Sounds like fun," Adam said, "my break was fine I called my sister and talked her for a bit,"
"That's sweet. Older or younger sister" Marinette smiled
"Younger," he smiled
"Aww that is so sweet" Marinette smiled
"Yeah I guess," he shrugged, "so how is that boyfriend of yours? Enjoying living with him?"
"He is great. And yes I am enjoying staying with him" Marinette smiled as the teacher walked in and class started. As soon as class ended Adam reminded her about meeting after school. She smiled and made sure he had the bakery address telling him she would meet him there. He nodded before heading out of the classroom. Marinette finished packing up her stuff and hurried out. Luka immediately wrapped her in a hug as soon as he saw her.
"Everything okay, rockstar?" she asked
"I cannot wait for this day to be over" he groaned, "Becca is going to drive me insane"
"That sucks," Marinette said, kissing him.
"I have an idea for this weekend though," he smirked
Oh yeah?" she grinned
"Yep but it is going to be a surprise" he grinned
"Okay," Marinette smiled as he walked her to class. He leaned down to give her a kiss before heading to his next rest of the day passed and soon the final bell was ringing. Marinette smiled as she walked out of her class. She glanced around looking for Luka. She smiled when she saw him walking towards her. He smiled when he saw her but took his time getting to her. She smiled watching him approach. As soon as he reached her he swept her into his arms kissing her. She giggled and he carried her out of the school. They got to the bike and he set her down before climbing on. She giggled putting their bags in the hold before climbing behind him. He smirked as she wrapped her arms around him tighter than normal. He sped off towards the bakery.
They got there and Marinette sent Luka upstairs while she grabbed some snacks and drinks. He smirked waiting at the bottom of the stairs so he could help her carry everything upstairs. She smiled when she noticed him waiting. She handed him the drinks and they headed upstairs. They headed to Marinette's room. She glanced around making sure there was nothing she didn't want Adam or Becca to see. She glanced around the room before making her way to her desk to set out the snacks.
Luka glanced over at her after he set the drinks down, noticing her frowning.
"What's wrong darling?" he asked, wrapping his arms around her.
"Nothing is wrong just thinking," she smiled, "it's just strange being here after so long. My mom took the college down a few months after I left and sent me the pictures. They are all in a scrapbook now"
"Why didn't you just move back in here when you came back?"
"I have to think of Tikki and the other Kwamis. It isn't the safest here. I am actually surprised that we weren't exposed from the start" Marinette sighed
"Marinette," he said softly, pulling her against him. She giggled stand on her top toes to kiss him
"It's fine Luka," Marinette said, "I am okay with how things worked out"
"Darling," he smiled kissing her again
"We should probably go downstairs to wait for our partners. I figure you and Becca can work in the loft where it has the best sound. Adam and I will be working with the sewing machine. We will be able to see each other without it looking like we are"
"I love you" he said as they headed back the trap door
"I love you to" Marinette smiled as she heard a knock on the door. Marinette smirked and went to answer the door. She opened the door and smiled at Becca inviting her in.
"Luka is upstairs. Just go down the hall and up the trap door. Adam and I will be up in as soon as he gets here" Marinette smiled
"What ever" Becca said walking past her. Marinette shrugged and walked to the den to grab her sewing kit before she went upstairs. She was just getting ready to head up when she heard another knock at the door. She walked over and answered it letting Adam in.
"Hey right on time," Marinette smiled, "we are working upstairs in my old room. Becca and Luka are also joining us"
"What, you don't trust me," he teased. Marinette smiled and led the way to the trap door. She walked up the ladder leading the way. They entered the room to find Luka and Becca arguing. Marinette sighed as she stepped into the room.
"I don't know why you have to be such a dick Luka," Becca shouted, "I don't know why we had to work here we could have done this at your place with no distractions,"
"Woah" Adam said as he followed behind. Marinette sighed.
"Everything okay guys?" Marinette asked
"Hey Darling," Luka smiled, "sorry we didn't hear you come up"
"Everything okay rockstar," Marinette asked
"No, everything is not fine!" Becca shouted, "Why are you forcing Luka to work here and not at his house"
"Becca," Luka glared
"I am not forcing him to work here." Marinette smiled, "there was no room to work at the liberty right now seeing as how we are in the process of packing and moving. It just made more sense to work here. Do you have an issue with it?"
"I do actually" Becca glared
"Why?" Marinette smiled, "because you are mad you can't have him or because you have an actual problem working here"
Marinette waited for her response for several minutes. "Good then what do you say we all get to work on our projects. So, does anyone want some snacks or a drink" she smiled gesturing to the desk with the snacks and drinks. Adam chuckled at the scene helping himself to some snacks before following Marinette to her sewing area. He smirked when he saw Becca huff and head back up to the loft area. Luka hurried over to kiss Marinette before he followed Becca to the loft with a plate of snacks.
"Shall we see what you have," Adam asked
"Sure follow me" Marinette smiled, leading the way to the closet where her supplies had been moved to. She opened the doors and heard his gasp.
"I know it is a lot," Marinette laughed at his expression, "I have collected it over the years. So do you have any idea what we want to use?"
"Holy shit," he said, "I don't even know where to start"
"How about with a color idea," Marinette laughed. She heard Luka and Becca quietly arguing and rolled her eyes before turning her attention back to Adam.
"I am thinking black and green for the suit and maybe red for the dress," he finally said
"Chat Noir green, Carapace green or Viperion green" Marinette smiled at the color choices
"Oh man I didn't even think about that," he groaned, "maybe we should do grey or white instead and silver for the dress"
"We can do whatever you want" Marinette laughed, "I don't mind the subtle tribute the heroes of paris"
"You sure?" he asked
"It's cool," Marinette smiled, "besides black and red are a pretty common color combination"
"And the bright green?" he teased
"Just a bit of flare," Marinette laughed as she started pulling some boxes down and handing them to him. He chuckled while taking the boxes. They set the boxes on a table by the sewing machine and Marinette started opening them revealing bolts of various fabrics in the colors they chose. Adam stared in shock at the boxes. Marinette chuckled.
"So I am thinking of silk or satin for the dress and cotton fabrics for the suit. What do you think?"
"What about using a Georgette fabric for the dress? With a viscose lining?"
"That could work," Marinette smiled, taking out a bolt of each and draping them over each other studying the effect. Adam watched her for a moment. "What do you think?"
"It could work and it would give it a pop" he said
"True okay let's do it" Marinette smiled, "so are we modeling or asking friends to do it?"
"I think it would be best if we did it," he said
"Okay let me get your measurement real quick and I should be able to get all the basics done today," Marinette smiled
"Sure" he shrugged as marinette grabbed her measuring tape and took his measurements. She talked to him as she took the measurements and wrote them down. A few minutes later she pulled the black and green fabrics and started drawing out the pattern she wanted to use. She motioned to Adam to take a seat while she started. He offered to start writing the report while she sewed and she smiled agreeing that would work best. So as she sewed he wrote. She handed him the garments as she finished them. An hour later they were sitting talking as Marinette took a break from sewing before she started on the dress. They had the paper written and Adam had started some of the special detailing. He was going to finish up the rest when he got home.
They were talking softly so they wouldn't interrupt Luka and Becca. Marinette glanced up to the loft smiling when she noticed him watching her. He smiled and blew a kiss making her giggle. Adam smiled at the scene.
"So how long have you two been dating?" he asked
"Not long but it has been a long time coming" Marinette said
"Really" he said surprised
"Yeah I was going to ask him a few years ago but things happened and I began traveling" She shrugged, "we lost touch for a bit. But it is all worth it now."
"That is really sweet," he smiled, "guess it was just meant to be huh?"
"Yes it was," Marinette smiled. She began tracing out the dress top debating on the neckline
"You should do a sweetheart or dipped neckline with a circle skirt. Don't attach at the bottom only on the top and do the viscose layer several inches shorter" Adam said
"Good idea," Marinette smiled, tracing out the design on the fabric. She finished and began cutting it out while Adam read the report they had written. Two hours later Marinette handed the dress over to Adam.
"This is amazing Marinette" he smiled
"It will be better when you finish the detailing" Marinette smiled, "are you sure you will be able to have it all done by monday"
"Yeah it should be no problem"
"Okay, you want to meet me on Monday before school to hand me the dress to model?"
"Works for me" he said
"Awesome" Marinette smiled looking up to the loft.
"So you have anything exciting going on?" he asked
"Just a meeting tomorrow and Friday Luka and I are getting away for the weekend"
"Really where are you going?"
"No idea he wants it to be a surprise" Marinette smiled
"That sounds romantic" Adam smiled
"It does," Marinette giggle, "I can't wait"
"Well I hope you have fun" Adam smiled, "anyway I am going to get home and finish these up"
"Okay see you tomorrow in class" Marinette smiled before she walked him to the door. After he left she walked back up to the room to work on her homework. She paused to listen to the music Luka and Becca were playing and smiled. She pulled out her bag and began working on her history and physics work. She grumbled for a bit before messaging Adrien.
M:Hey you busy?"
A: Just working on a project. Need help with physics?
M: yeah but if you are busy it can wait until I get back to the liberty or I can ask Liza
A: I can't video call but if you want to take a picture of what you need help with I can walk you through it via messages
Marinette smiled before messaging Liza
Mari: Hey Liza Luka says you are pretty good with Physics. Any chance you are free to help me?
Liza: Yes I just listening to music
Mari: You want to come to the bakery or video chat?
Liza: be there in ten
Mari: okay i will be waiting
Marinette messaged Adrien that Liza was going to help before she went downstairs to wait for Liza. She stopped at the counter to talk to Noel and order some sandwiches and macaroons. Noel smiled and brought them out. Marinette grabbed the bag and a minute later Liza walked in.
"Hey perfect timing" Marinette smiled
"Ooh what's in the bag?"
"Sandwiches and macaroons" Marinette giggled, "don't worry I have enough for you to"
"And this is why you are my favorite person" Liza smiled as they walked upstairs
Marinette grabbed their sandwiches and macaroons and brought Luka and Becca thiers.
"Hey guys I brought some sandwiches and Macaroons," Marinette said, handing Luka the bag and stealing a kiss. Luka smiled as he opened the bag. He thanked her and gave her another kiss.
"Okay Liza and I are going to work on physics let me know when you are done rockstar"
"Okay Darling I love you" Luka said, giving her another kiss before she walked away. She and Liza sat at the table eating and working on the physics work. They were just finishing up when Luka and Becca came down from the loft. Becca was glaring at her as she gathered up her stuff. Liza gave her a hug and left before Becca and Luka got down.
"I see how it is Darling," Luka teased, "steal my best friend and bribe her so she likes you better"
"I can't help it rockstar" Marinette giggled
"First Juleka, then ma, then Rose, Now my friends," he smirked "You know what this means right darling?"
"That I am nicer than you," she smiled
"Nope that I am just gonna have to marry you" he grinned
"Is that so huh?" She smiled, wrapping her arms around him. Luka leaned down to kiss her but Becca knocked into them before he could.
"Sorry," she sneered walking out the door. Marinette grabbed Luka's hand before he could go after her. He grumbled but smiled, kissing her. Marinette looked around the room debating whether or not she was going to clean up before they left or wait.
"Let's get this cleaned up before we go," Luka said as he started to gather the dishes. Marinette smiled and started picking up everything else. She noticed Becca's scarf in the loft and grabbed it. Luka sighed.
"I will drop it off at the counter," Marinette smiled, "that way Noel won't let her upstairs"
"Sounds good to me," Luka shrugged, handing her a sketchbook and pencil set that clearly belonged to Adam, "Bring these to?"
"Sure" Marinette smiled, "anything else they forgot?"
"If you want to drop those at the counter and put the bags in the hold. I will do a quick sweep before we leave"
"Sure" Marinette smiled, "when you come down grab the key set with the Ladybug key and lock the trap door. I will let Noel know we locked it and text Maman when we get back home"
"Sounds good darling," he smiled. Marinette headed down the steps and back down to the bakery.
"Hey Noel, our partners left behind some stuff. If they stop over here it is" Marinette said, "also we locked the door to my room and I have the keys. So they won't be able to get in"
"Okay Marinette have a good night and be safe" Noel smiled, taking the stuff from her and tucking it behind the counter. Marinette headed to the bike and stowed the bags. She closed the hold and locked it. She was just about to pull out the bike keys when someone grabbed her arm.
"What the" Marinette started before her mouth was covered and she shoved against a wall.
