Her mind was blank but her heart was beating wildly. She would always recognize those eyes. Cat-like, amber, calculating, yet beautiful and full of passion when on the courts. "What do I say?" she panicked as she just continued to stare dumbly at those piercing eyes, her face heating up despite the cool air running around her.
"A-ah, R-Ryoma-kun… Hi?" she replied dumbly as she subconsciously kicked herself in her brain. Not soon after her awkward reply she felt him shuffle and sit down to her right. Sakuno was blushing to a new shade of red as she covered her face with her left forearm. She took in some deep breaths and calmed down just like what Mori-senpai would advise her to keep her body at equilibrium. She then felt a sleek yet warm fabric fall on top of her torso. Her nose was then attacked by the musky yet a smooth wave of his cologne serenade scent.
"You're going to catch a cold." His husky voice replied once more.
"M-Mou, I'm fine, plus the sun is out." She smiled, removing her arm from her eyes. Thank God Mori-senpai's training worked as her blush dissipated. She looked over towards the man beside her. His black hair shone so brightly in the sun with blue-green highlights gleaming as the sun kissed the hairs hiding underneath his cap. His eyes glared at the forest ahead of him. One would think he wanted to set the trees on fire but she knew better. She's watched him enough to understand. His mind was busy, calculating, thinking of tennis.
"The wind is strong." He replied. It occurred to him that he did want to ask the girl about what had happened earlier. Maybe he could start by asking why she was here at the camp. "No, no, that wasn't his business. Or was it?" He pondered in his head as he unconsciously stared ahead. "Or ask her about who she was talking to earlier." His inner self piped up. "Urusai." He mentally fought with himself. Similarly, the lass was also in distress with herself. "Why is he here? Should I tell him why I am here? No, no, he wouldn't care. I'd just end up making a food out of myself." Sakuno's mind rambled on. She wanted to nap, he also wanted to nap, but with the presence of one another, their minds were all working overtime. They sat in silence until the sun and wind finally reassured them into sleep.
Shusuke Fuji was having the time of his life. He had learned so much and connected the dots. He had just tested out a new juice that was indeed quite delicious. Now wandering around the facilities in hopes to find something interesting. And then just like the heavens blessed him with something, a girl with long auburn hair and light brown eyes was talking in the halls with a man. He approached them.
"Konnichiwa, Sakura-senpai." He said as he approached her and the man.
"Ah Fuji-san! What are you doing here?" The lady turned towards him in surprise. Fuji turned towards the senior in front of the lady.
"I was just wandering around." He replied.
"Ah right! This is Kazuya Tokugawa. I believe he's one of the senpais in the camp." Sakura introduced. The black haired man nodded in a greeting. "Kazuya, this is Shusuke Fuji, one of Sakuno's senpai." She continued. He nodded along his face turning a bit sour. Fuji smiled.
"It seems like I am interrupting something." Fuji said, smiling and provoking his senpai.
"N-No, no not at all! W-we were just chatting." Sakura replied, shaking her hands in front of her chest.
"Don't worry senpais, your secret is safe with me." Fuji said as he said his goodbye leaving the two to enjoy some more alone time. He smiled. "How interesting." It didn't take long until he stumbled upon something just as interesting.
His two underclassmen, sleeping in a field. Quickly taking out his camera. He clicked the button and a good 10 photos were taken.
"Saa… What a good day." He said walking away from the scene. "How much should I charge for these?" He thought.
The sound of loud voices from the building behind them woke the two youngsters from their nap. Stunned that the two were about to miss dinner, they bounded up from their spots and ran towards the building. Sakuno completely forgot the fact that she had Ryoma's training jacket and Ryoma forgot about his jacket. One ran towards the cafeteria and the other into the kitchen.
"Sakuno! You're almost late! And where did you get that jacket?" Her sister asked as she helped her younger sister remove the coat. The only response she got was a red faced girl frantically trying to process that she still had the jacket.
"Ah, I see. It's HIS isn't it?" She smirked at the young girl in love.
"Don't worry, you can plate dishes today. HE'S out there." Sakura replied, teasing the girl.
"ONEE-CHAN!" Sakuno whined from the teasing as she stumbled to her station. Sakura then took a glimpse outside to see a boy without his training jacket. She smirked and gave a quick text to her boyfriend
'Ne, don't punish the kid without his jacket too harshly. Sakuno has it.'
'Eh? The cocky tennis prince gave her his jacket?!'
'Don't call him names! You're just as bad!'
'Psh, no.'
Sakura lagged at the exchange. The two were pretty similar. She took a glance outside to see that Kazuya had taken the kid out into the halls for a chat. It didn't take long for them to come back in and sit down and eat quietly.
Outside in the Halls:
"Where's your jacket?" Ryoma's mentor asked in a cold tone.
"The wind took it away somewhere." Ryoma replied, shrugging at the big deal his senior was making due to his missing jacket. Sure he stood out in the crowd but who cares? The older boy shook his head and replied.
"Wear it properly next time. Next time there will be a punishment." He said as his hair got caught with the light. And then it hit Ryoma. He was the guy with Ryuzaki.
"Ne, why were you talking with Ryuzaki, senpai?" He asked, glaring at the man. Kazuya froze. "When did this kid see him with Sakura?" He thought. "I'm pretty sure I snuck out of practice just fine. No one questioned me about me missing." He thought to himself. The only one that knew was that Fuji kid that Sakura talked about.
"How do you know I was talking to her?" Kazuya asked.
"I saw you two." Ryoma replied nonchalantly.
"I will have to ask you to keep it a secret then." Kazuya sighed. Ryoma smirked.
"Fine, but today after dinner, have a match with me." He demanded. "Then I'll be quiet."
"Alright, Alright, deal." Kazuya sighed at the kids' attitude. "No way did his little-soon-to-be-sister-in-law like this guy." He thought.
"Stay away from Ryuzaki. You're too old for her." Ryoma left and walked into the building.
"Huh? Too old for her? Sakura was the same age as him."
Back inside the kitchen
"Ne, ne, so what are you going to do with the jacket?" Her sister asked. Sakuno just slumped down on her chair and replied "Return it to him tomorrow night or something. I hope that will be okay."
*ding* Sakura looked at her phone. She had just received a text message from a very whiny boy.
'The nerve of that Echizen brat! He just challenged me to a game tonight! And didn't even say thank you that I didn't punish him!'
Sakuno peaked at what her sister was laughing at on her screen.
"Eh? Kazuya nii-chan knows Ryoma-kun?" She asked her sister.
"Yeah, he just happened to be Ryoma's mentor for this camp."
'Worst of all, he thinks I'm dating Little Sa-Chan! :(' He continued. This made Sakura laugh so hard. Everyone in the hall looked into the kitchen at the commotion.
'Oi! Urusai! I can hear you laughing at my pain!' Kazuya texted. Sakuno took a peek outside to see the guy texting with a blank face but eyes filled with embarrassment.
'Hai, Hai, Gomene.' Sakuno responded and closed her phone.
"Sakuno, let's go to the courts tonight. I'm sick of not being able to play." Sakura suggested glancing at her younger sister.
"Mhm! I haven't played with you for so long!" She replied beaming.
