~Hi everyone .! I hope you guys are doing well! Here is another chappie. I hope to end this one soon but it is still undetermined how long it will be. Hehe gomen. Anyways I don't own Prince of Tennis and I apoligize for any grammar or spelling mistakes. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read and review (if you would like to), it means a lot :)
Ryoma didn't mind her company. Having her wake him up in the morning was much better than having his Oyaji storm into his room. She was at least polite about it. He wouldn't mind that in the future. "Woah, woah, there. Future? His future was with tennis, Karupin, and ponta, not her...yet." He finished his train of thoughts. Grumbling, he headed out of the cabin and towards the cafeteria, praying it was japanese food.
"Oi, Echizen! Where were you this morning? I never thought you were an early riser!" Ryoma heard Momo-senpai holler towards him when he entered the cafeteria.
"Urusai Momo-senpai. You're loud." Ryoma muttered in response as the two walked up to grab their breakfast.
"Ne, ne, ne, Echizen. Let's go and watch the girls play." Momo-senpai whispered into his ear.
"Yadda. You go get your hormones controlled." Ryoma bluntly refused. Momo flushed at his remark and Ryoma took in another victory. It sounded like his prayers had been answered as a large bowl of rice and was topped with braised beef. He internally cheered the moment the donburi bowl landed onto his tray. The two boys walked towards the table where the rest of their teammates were situated.
"Fshh, ohayo." Kaido-senpai greeted the two. Ryoma nodded and replied with a simple "hn''. The cafeteria was bustling with energy and he had to admit, thanks to the adequate amount of sleep last night he too felt like he had enough energy to survive training today. After chugging down his two cups of milk, he concluded his meal and got up to get some ponta. Ryoma did admit that he did somewhat have an addiction towards the drink, but what could he say? If it brought the dopamine it brought the dopamine there was nothing he could do. His feet guided him towards a vending machine by the indoor gyms. Upon inserting a couple of coins he heard tennis balls and soft grunts from the gymnasium. Curious he walked towards the sounds of his favourite sport. Similar to last time, the door was cracked open letting a small breeze flow into and out of the gym. He was not surprised this time when his eyes laid upon a small girl in a pink and white uniform, holding a black racket, and limbs adorned with weights. The more he watched the more he wanted to play against her. A smirk rose from his lips as he decided to head back to grab an extra ponta for practice. He then left a cherry ponta sitting outside of the gymnasium and headed off to practice.
He expected a lot of tennis today. Tons upon tons of games and matches and drills. He even expected punishment juice. But he did not expect that today, they would go to the mountains and train. Ryoma grumbled as he trailed behind his senpais indicating that he was not as eager as they were to be in the mountains. The worst part was the sun was scorching them and nearly cooking them alive. But for the sake of tennis, his ego, and pride, he was determined to top anyone in everything today. "If she was working super hard then he would definitely work harder than her." Ryoma thought thinking back to the nearly exhausted girl with brown hair in a tight ponytail. No way in this dimension would he let her win a game off of him, ever. First drill was simply to go up the mountain. "Not too bad." He thought until he noticed that Inui-senpai had a barrel of purple liquid beside him.
"How did that even get up here?" Momo-senpai asked wearily, pointing at the concoction that seemed to be moving all on its own.
"Fshh baka did you even see the van that was driving up behind us?" Kaido-senpai informed and insulted Mono-senpai at the same time. It didn't even take them two seconds to start another fight. It was unsuccessfully broken by Oishi-senpai who tried his best, but to no avail.
"BURNING! STOP IT! SAVE YOUR ENERGY FOR TRAINING!" Taka-senpai howled at the two of them which broke up the argument. Ryoma pulled down his hat in an attempt to not associate with them. Although it was to no avail as Kikumaru-senpai had somehow managed to find him in the crowd and tackled (or in Eiji's terms, hug) him. Today was not his ideal day. Only morning had been a blessing, where all of his wishes were granted.
"Alright everyone! Let's get started. Last 60% to make it to the top will drink punishment juice 1!" The coach yelled. "ONE?" everyone thought. "There's more than one juice today?" Ryoma heard some others ask cautiously.
"Yes, there will be a juice for every different actually." Inui-senpai grinned, pushing up his glasses to reflect them in the sunlight. Ryoma shivered. Morning was definitely better. He sighed and began to listen to the instructions. "Just run up the mountain, don't fall behind, no vehicles." The coach listed. Everyone then faced the rugged path indicated by a small gate made up of 3 trunks of wood and waited for the sound of a whistle.
"Fweep!" Ryoma and a ton of young men dashed up the mountain determined to not be the ones who had to drink the deadly purple concoction. The first few hundred meters were fine, however nearly four fifths up the mountain, Ryoma had felt his calves burn and his legs were close to giving in. However, he was determined to be first. No way in this lifetime would he be bested by one of his team mates or the other troublesome players at the camp. Determined, Ryoma lifted his lead like legs and picked up his pace up the last stretch of the mountain. The sun was definitely not on his side today as the amount of sweat accumulated in his hat was exceeding the amount of liquid in a can of ponta. A good 15 more minutes and he was at the top panting and breathing hard. Even Tezuka-Bouchu looked as if he had reached his physical limits. "This is only the first drill of today." Ryoma thought as he began to dread the upcoming events.
"Yosha! Good job minna-san! Take a 30 minute break and we will move on to the next drill." The coach yelled as he had energy due to the car that he had taken up to get to the top. It was noted that 60% of the original group were crouched over and regurgitating the contents from their stomachs. Ryoma almost felt some sympathy for those who had to drink the solution from the barrel.
"Good, nothing wasted." Inui-senpai smirked when he looked at the clear barrel where his chemistry experiment had just been distributed to the poor athletes.
"Saa… you should make some more next time for me." Ryoma heard Fuji-senpai say. Everyone internally cringed upon hearing the sentence that had left the lips of the brunette teen. After many drills the numbers of the squad slowly diminished as members fell victim to Inui-senpai's horrible chemistry experiment, even the creator himself. Though he only noted that it gave him great data about himself.
-Time Skip-
After the hard day of training, Ryoma could still feel and taste the disgusting juice that he had ingested a good hour ago. His stomach was growling as he also had regurgitated most of his breakfast and the lame lunch that the coach had provided.
"The sandwich was so dry anyways…" Ryoma thought to himself. Western food was never his thing and it would probably never be.
Trudging back to the tennis courts the players all had two things in mind. Dinner and a good nice nap and Ryoma was no different. He headed towards the showers hoping that there would be no line up, but oh how wrong he was. His hoping and praying seemed to only work in the morning. Sighing, the dark haired teen went into his room and packed most of his essentials leaving some to make it seem that he was still staying in the shared room. Ryoma then snuck out towards the cabin to take a private shower. To his joy, it seemed like Sakuno had cleaned the place while he was away. The bed was made, the fridge was filled with some ponta, and the bathroom restocked with shampoo and some body soap. He was beyond happy in regards to the stocked ponta in the fridge.
"I could definitely get used to this." He said aloud and grabbed a can from the fridge. Cracking it open, he let the cool sensation of the liquid path into his mouth and down his throat.
"Heaven." He thought. Ryoma could absolutely get used to coming home with a fridge full of cool ponta. "And maybe a certain auburn haired girl." He added in his mind. At this point the lad was way too tired to argue with himself and just admitted that it would be nice to have most of the house prepped for his return. Finishing the can he walked towards the bathroom for a nice cool shower. It was noted that after his shower it was dinner time and so like the others, he looked forward to the feeling of having a full stomach.
"Nya! It's spaghetti!" Ryoma heard a red headed senpai almost squeal at the sight of their dinner. Ryoma internally groaned at the sight of the pasta coated with red tomato sauce and decorated with large meatballs. "We are literally living in Japan, not Italy." He sighed to himself as he picked up a fork and reluctantly ate.
"Echizen, I need to speak with you." A voice from behind him spoke sternly. Ryoma turned around to be face to face with the exact man who had beat him last night.
"Ah, Kazuya-senpai." Ryoma said and got up from his seat. He gave Tezuka-bouchu an indication that he was leaving and a stoic nod was the sole reply from the sterned faced captain. The two dark haired men walked out of the cafeteria and into the hall.
"Same time tonight. Let's play." Ryoma heard Kazuya-senpai say or demand. Ryoma pulled out his signature smirk, while Kazuya sighed at the lengths he had to do to make his girlfriend happy.
"Mada mada dane, senpai." Ryoma replied placing his hands behind his head and Kazuya held back his anger. "This brat! Really, I need to find some glasses for Saku-chan. The poor girl fell in love with a dense and annoying brat!" Kazuya thought to himself.
"I'll win this time. Ja senpai." Ryoma lazily waved his hand while walking away back into the cafeteria, excited for a game of tennis and a rematch that is. Kazuya could only sigh.
"There is no way I was like that. Sakura is so wrong." He mumbled walking back into the cafeteria and catching sight of his eager girlfriend in the kitchen. He presented here with a nod and he saw the girl jump up in excitement and bound towards her younger sister to say the good news. It hit him then that he forgot to tell the young lad that they were going to be there. Shrugging it off Kazuya picked up the utensil and finished his dinner.
Ryoma on the other hand was gobbling up his meal so he could take a nap before his game. This time, he would most definitely beat Kazuya-senpai and show Sakuno that he was still number one. And maybe he could ask her for some more of her rice balls that he oh so missed. Lost inside his anticipation, he was not aware that a certain spiky haired senpai and a reluctant bandana senpai were following him towards the cabin.
AN: Hehe, that's all for today. I hope y'all liked it. I'll see you guys next time :) Thanks for reading
