Chapter 13
Harry started getting a little nervous towards the end of class. He was going to see Edward and his family at their house. After witnessing three days in a row of the siblings not eating, he was curious as to what they survived on. Maybe they just didn't eat lunch, but then why would they even get food if that was the case. He made a mental note to ask Andrew about it at their next meeting. They weren't meeting this evening as he had told him that he was going to visit some friends.
Once the bell rang, Harry found his way outside and made his way to the Cullen's vehicle. Rosalie was standing by the Jeep with Emmett and Jasper while Edward was with Alice by his Volvo. Harry waved to them as he approached.
"You ready to go? You can follow us on your motorcycle, or you can ride with me if you'd like. I can bring you back and drop you off after meeting our parents." Edward said.
"How about I follow on my bike, that way I'll know how to get back later." Harry replied with a smile. He put his helmet on and walked over to his bike after seeing Edward nod his head. Harry felt kind of nervous and riding his motorcycle always seemed to calm him down. He started his motorcycle and drove behind the Cullens as they left the parking lot. He followed them through town and down some side roads, all while enjoying the beauty of the forest around him.
While driving, he kept thinking back to some of the conversation he had with Andrew yesterday. He was starting to fully understand his past and the world that had cast him aside. He couldn't wait to start his magic lessons with Andrew. The man had said that he was going to create a lesson schedule for him. They would work in the afternoon and evenings to get himself back up to speed. Andrew said that he was confident he could get him trained within a year's time. He had told Harry that there was a lot he could skip over and get to the good stuff, whatever that may be.
Harry came out of his thoughts after they had slowed down and turned onto a long winding driveway. He wasn't quite certain where the house was as it was completely shielded from view by the surrounding forest. After a minute or two, the house finally came into view. Harry couldn't believe that such a beautiful house was hidden back here. It was three stories tall and was almost completely windows. He understood why it was so far back to give the family some privacy without hiding the beautiful forest around them. From his view, he could almost see the layout of the house.
He pulled to a stop next to Edward's car and put his helmet on the back of his bike. After ruffling his hair a bit, getting rid of the helmet hair, he approached Edward. "Your home is beautiful! I've never seen a house quite this unique before. I can see why you'd want to show it off." Harry said.
Edward smiled and said "Thank you. It's all Esme's doing. She designed the house and had it built to complement the surrounding area. She didn't have the heart to destroy the beauty around us. They only cut down three trees to make room for the house and she had them incorporated into the building. Come on in, I'll introduce you to our parents."
Harry remembered Esme from the grocery store and put two and two together. As they approached the house and walked in the door, Esme approached them with her husband beside her. Esme was just as pretty as he remembered her from the grocery store. The man beside her was tall and slim. He had the brightest blonde hair he had seen in a while with a very pale face. Both of them, just as striking in appearance as their children.
"Your whole family is beautiful! What's in the water over here? You could bottle and sell it and make a killing!" Harry said once in front of them with a cheeky smile on his face.
Esme and Carlisle just laughed. Esme held her hand out for Harry to shake. "Hello Harry, it's wonderful to meet you again. This is my husband Carlisle. He's a doctor at Forks General. You're lucky he's here this evening. They keep him pretty busy at the hospital." Harry shook her hand followed by Mr. Cullen, taking a mental note at how cold both of their hands were.
"It's wonderful to formally meet you both. I can see where your kids get their good looks. I just love your home! It's just beautiful. Edward said you designed it, Mrs. Cullen?" Harry asked with a smile.
"Oh please, call me Esme. Yes, it's one of my many passions. I like designing homes and interior decorating. Come on in, I put some snack on the table if you're hungry. Edward can give you a tour of the house if you'd like as well." Esme stated. Harry could tell how sweet she was, and it confirmed his feeling from the market.
"I would like that. Maybe you could give me some pointers on decorating my cottage. I could use the help. I've never been very talented when it comes to decorating." Harry suggested, genuinely interested to see what she could come up with. He had done what he could with his cottage, but he knew it could use some additional feminine touches.
As they made their way into the house, Harry was overcome with a feeling of awe and homeliness. Everything was so picturesque. The house really did bring the look of the surrounding forest into the home. There was a deck out back and on the side of the house the felt like it just flowed from inside to outside. The wood on the deck continued inside and seemed to crawl up the walls. There were branches built into the walls that drew your eyes upward to show off the beautiful ceiling that seemed to mimic the night sky. There were lights twinkling throughout the ceiling, in between the multiple skylights, with some lights dangling in the air. The walls were a muted green color that gave the feeling of being in a forest.
"You definitely need to come decorate my house." Harry said in a state of awe.
Esme smiled and it lit up her face. She told Edward to give Harry a tour of the house. Harry followed him up the stairs and noticed the shadowbox filled with graduation caps. Harry paused while looking at it.
"That's just something Esme put together. She found all the caps at a store one day and came up with the idea." Edward said trying to come up with a story for all the caps.
"That's really interesting, I would have never thought of that." Harry said as he kept walking up the stairs. Edward showed him through all the rooms and finally brought him to his room. Harry couldn't keep the smile off his face when he saw all the different music devices and records.
"You really like music huh?" Harry asked
"Yeah, I have a bit of a collection going on. I have to say my favorite is classical music. It's just really soothing to listen to. You can take a look if you'd like. Feel free to borrow anything you see." Edward said.
Harry perused the wall of music and started reading some of the titles. While he was checking out the collection, Edward had put some music on for them to listen to. They spent the next hour listening to music and discussing different genres of music. They both had a love of classical music, even if Harry really enjoyed rock music. He was distracted from some of the more bizarre titles when Emmett came in.
"Hey Harry, we're going to play some video games if you'd like to join us." Edward threw Emmett a look for interrupting his time with Harry. Harry didn't seem to notice.
"Maybe another time Emmett, I was looking at Edward's music collection. There are so many titles to choose from. Although, I think I might need to get going soon actually. It's starting to get late. Edward, do you mind if I borrow a couple of these?" Emmett left the two to their own devices stating something like your loss.
Edward smiled and nodded. As Harry went to grab a couple, Edward did as well, and they ended up grabbing the for the same record. As Edward's hand brushed Harry's, they both felt this little electric tingle go up their arms. Harry's breath hitched and froze for second, wanting the feeling to come back. He reached for Edward's hand after he had pulled back. The tingle came back but then settled after a couple seconds.
"Did you feel that Edward? What was that?" Harry asked. Edward just looked back at him with a puzzled look on his face. As Edward was contemplating the feeling they clearly both felt, he didn't realize that they were still holding hands. Harry seemed to have noticed and went to go release Edward's hand. Before he could let go, Edward pulled him closer and wrapped his arms around Harry in a slightly sensual hug. Edward knelt his head down to smell Harry's hair and the earthy electric aroma that could only be Harry came back to him. Edward was in a trance of sorts. Harry was just content to let him hold him. Who was he to complain if a gorgeous man wanted to hold him in such a way. Especially one that he was just as intrigued with.
Harry hesitantly withdrew from Edward's embrace, not quite ready to let that go. "Not that I'm complaining, but what are we doing? I'm not one to go around hugging people. Are you even interested in guys?" Harry asked slightly afraid to break the mood. He waited for Edward to respond, hoping that he wasn't ruining anything.
"I'm not certain why I did that, but I feel drawn to you. I've never really felt this way before. I'm not entirely sure of my feelings but I know that I don't want to lose whatever this could be. Maybe we can spend some time around each other and see where it goes?" Edward stated in a very honest tone of voice.
Harry felt slightly giddy at the idea and agreed. "I like that idea, Edward. I really should get going. I'll bring your music back in a couple of days." Harry gave his hand a squeeze and went to leave. Edward pulled him in for one more hug before walking him back to the living room.
Harry said his goodbyes and thanked them for having him over. After promising Esme that he would indeed be back, Harry got onto his motorcycle and headed back home.
Once Harry was home, he told Luci all about the Cullen's home and all about Edward. He even showed Luci the music that he borrowed and flipped on some music to enjoy with dinner. They enjoyed listening to Chopin and Debussy along with some of the Russian composers he had chosen. Harry decided he really liked Shostakovich. He had such a commanding way with the music and then a delicate hand on some of the softer sides. He couldn't wait to hear even more of what Edward had to offer. He fell asleep listening to one of the softer sonatas.
Back at the Cullen's house, Carlisle was talking to his family. "Do you think we have anything to worry about?" Carlisle asked Edward. Edward had a smile on his face since Harry had left.
"No, I don't think we do. He seems genuinely interested in us as a family and individuals. I didn't pick up on anything malicious, although I still can't hear anything from him. I thought I did when he touched my hand, but it was just a blip. The only thing I caught was more of a feeling of interest, and then it was gone. Jasper did you get anything?" Edward asked.
"I agree with you Edward. The only thing I picked up was genuine enjoyment and interest, maybe a little bit of intrigue but nothing malicious on my end either. Alice said that her visions still haven't picked back up when it comes to Harry. She can see stuff, like what he's going to eat for lunch or meaningless items, but that's about it. He's still a little bit of a mystery." Jasper finished.
"We'll just have to keep an eye out and an ear open. Until further notice, we're staying here." Carlisle said with an air of relief. They all had come to really like this place and they didn't really feel like moving again so soon.
Edward left his family to go back upstairs. He wanted to pick out a few new musicians and composers for the next time he met up with Harry, outside of school. He didn't notice when he left, the smiles on the faces of his family. It was the first time they had seen him smile in decades.
