A response to egwolf65's challenge, this rewrite explores a dark possibility: that Team Avatar loses. The only survivors, Toph, Katara, and Zuko try to make sense of this new world but all they really know is that they will keep fighting. When the original bending masters approach them with a different approach-to be trained and sent back in time-the way forward is clear.

Airbending is an art of evasion and pacifism. Also, it wouldn't be a stretch of imagination to think that maybe not all Air *Nomads* were in the temples during the attacks.
