For the first time in many years, Sesshoumaru was loathe to return to his Shiro. He knew if he brought his half brother with him, they would both be in danger.

Even though the challenges against him had mostly ended since he had killed the southern Lord, he could not bring Inuyasha with him.

He knew of a small abandoned hut deep in one of the forests close to the shiro. He planned on placing a barrier around the hut that only Inuyasha and himself would be able to enter.

This seemed like the perfect plan to keep them safe.

As they got close, he tried to explain to Inuyasha why he had to leave. The pup seemed to understand that this place was to keep him safe, that Sesshoumaru would return for him, and as he was able to hunt for himself and defend himself long enough to run, he would be safe there.

For the next 6 decades Sesshoumaru would return for about half a moon cycle, ensuring he was there during the night of the new moon. He spent the time teaching Inuyasha how to defend himself and how to survive.

Sesshoumaru felt he was able to be himself while he was with his half brother, wearing his emotions freely. The time with his brother had taught him so much he found that he was able to open his heart again, the pain had dulled and lessened over the years, his memories of the time with Izayoi having a sort of fondness, although he still felt anger with his father, it was not the all encompassing rage he had once felt. The shreds of his heart had scabbed over and were healing, mostly in part to the child they had both left behind.
