Hunger Games

The darkness honestly made Katniss feel fear for the first time in that entire session. The time before had only made her skeptical, confused, and inquiring. Now she was scared. Katniss had always been a risk-taker. She'd braved two Hunger Games and defeated the Capitol. But all of that was within realism. Now this, the reality reduced to magic and myths, the irrationality of the entire situation, gave Katniss a taste of intangibility. It was difficult to comprehend, and this sudden darkness was much too urgent.

Katniss blinked, and light flooded her vision. The dark had only lasted a second or so, but it felt like a lifetime. She squinted in the change in lighting, and sat up. She was in a field of waist-length grass, and couldn't make out anything over the heathered grass. There was no sign of movement, and had a brief moment of panic. Was she alone? She stood up shakily and looked around. The grass obscured anything below that level. After a moment, more people were standing up. Peeta stood, and Katniss relaxed.

She glanced around. Majority of the group was standing, and those that were, was quite a few feet away from the next. Looking around, Katniss noticed that Tris hadn't stood yet. She walked in a random direction, looking for Tris. She was very careful, though, as not to step on her, the grass was hard to penetrate. The others were also searching for their friends, and more of them were standing up around the area. Four was silently combing the grass too.

Suddenly, movement stirred the grass in front of Katniss, and she brushed her fingers through the heather, and felt someone else. Pulling her up, she had a shock. It wasn't Tris, rather, the Jason boy. They looked remarkably similar, but their eyes were great in contrast. He blinked up at Katniss, and accepted help. She reluctantly assisted him, and looked around to scour again for Tris.

Eventually, everyone was standing. Tris had been found by Four, and eventually, there was a spare moment to assess the situation. There was a pristine meadow stretching as far as the eye could see, and on the horizon, a small city. It was hard to make out proportion from this distance. It was about mid-afternoon, and the grass appeared purple in the reflected light. The group glanced at each other. There was no elected leader, and they didn't want to create any bad relationships.

Harry and Percy, the ones who were practically twins, began to talk in low voices. They then exchanged nods with a few others and began to walk slowly towards the city. "It's nearly evening, and we don't want to be out here alone."

Katniss sighs, but silently agrees. She begins to stride for the city.
