Spike and Xander were paired up for patrol, which normally wouldn't bother Spike. He and Xander had become sort of friends after being roomies for a few months before Spike moved out. For the most part he was the best out of the lot, when he wasn't complaining about work.

"Then my boss called me stupid because I was giving teenagers in costumes free small fries. He said kids dressed up for Halloween got free fries he didn't say anything about not including teenagers! They're kids too, aren't they?"

"Mmmhmm," Spike said not really listening.

Xander accepted the response. "So now I'm on bathroom duty for the next month! Do you know how disgusting humans are?"

"I lived with you, didn't I?" Spike asked.

"Ha, ha! I'm not that bad." Xander pouted. "Let's do a sweep of this park and then head back to the basement."

It wasn't surprising Xander asking him back to his place. They'd watch movies today. He was just surprised he didn't have plans with the girls. Okay, no he wasn't, the girls were still completely oblivious to the fact they excluded Xander. "You got any candy at your place?"

"Under a pile of 'dirty' laundry. My dad's been rummaging through my stuff looking for money again."

"You need to get out of there, Xan."

Xander snorted. "I need a job where I can afford rent, bills and food. You'd think rent would be cheaper on the Hellmouth. People already don't want to live here."

"People like making money off of crazy people. And only crazy people live on the Hellmouth."

Xander wanted to defend himself he wasn't crazy. He fought vampires and demons and saved the world on a weekly basis. Okay so maybe he was crazy. "Touche."

"Big word for you," Spike joked.

"Yup, had to ask Willow what it meant," Xander said not joking.

Spike didn't comment on what Xander said. "Come on let's go check out the park. Then I'll buy us pizza."

"I'm not going to ask where you got money from," Xander stated as he walked into the park. He wasn't actually expecting to find anything. For some reason vampires didn't have interest in this park. Soon he's be back at the basement eating candy and pizza with his vampire. His vampire? Yeah, Xander liked the sound of that.

"When did I become your vampire?" Spike asked. From his reaction he wasn't mad about the slip.

Xander froze. He had not said that out loud.

Spike stepped closer to Xander. "Tell me when I became your vampire and I'll tell you when you became my human."

Spike's human? Xander had become Spike's human? Xander opened his mouth to tell Spike but only a strangled noise came out as Xander stumbled backwards. His eyes went wide with fear.

"Xan? Xan, what's wrong?" Spike grabbed a hold of Xander's arms stopping him from moving away any further.

"C-cl-clown," Xander managed to stutter out.

Spike hated clowns. Not like Xander did. No, he hated clowns that interrupted his chance of Xander telling him how he felt. "Don't worry, luv. I'll scare the bugger off with my fangs."

Xander shook his head. "D-demon clown."

Demon clown? That was new. Maybe Xander's fear of clowns was just making him think it was a demon. Spike turned making sure his body was blocking Xander's. Xander was right, it was a demon clown. It stood seven feet tall, its face looked like it was painted white with blue make up around its glowing eyes and red around it's mouth, but Spike didn't think it was paint. Spike wouldn't tell Xander but some of the red was definitely blood. The clowns nails were like talons.

The clown from hell hissed, showing its three inch teeth. Its eyes lit up when it heard Xander scream. The fear coming off him was intoxicating.

Spike didn't take his eyes off the demon knowing it smelt what he did. "Xan, why don't you hand me your axe and then go behind that tree behind us?"

"N-no... I can help. I punched the clown that came out of my nightmare back in tenth grade," Xander stated. His eyes then rolled into the back of his head and passed out when the demon roared.

Lucky with Spike's quick reflexes he caught Xander before he hit the ground. He gently lowered Xander down to the ground before taking the axe from his laxed hand. When Spike turned to face the clown again he was vamped out. "Look what you've done to my boy!" Spike bellowed. "My boy who has stopped more apocalypses than he can count, who never backed down from Angelus himself!"

The demon only caring about his next snack which was laying just a few feet from him rushed at Spike taking a violent swipe at him slicing Spike's cheek.

Spike's head whipped to the side from the force. He could feel the blood oozing from his gash. With a snarl Spike pounced on the demon sending them both to the ground. "That... bloody... hurt!" Spike said punching the demon in the face after each word. He then took the axe, held it up over his head and swung it down right between the clown's eyes. Spike spat on the dead demon before climbing off of him.

Xander was just coming to when Spike knelt beside him. "Is it dead?"

"It's dead," Spike confirmed. "You okay?"

"No," Xander said honestly his eyes closed tightly. "I thought my fear of clowns was over when I faced them back in high school."

Spike pulled Xander into a sitting up position. "This wasn't a human in some costume, Xan. It was a nasty demon. There is a big difference."

Xander opened his eyes and turned his head to look at Spike who could have been mocking him but wasn't. His eyes widened when his saw the gash. He pulled off his Hawaiian shirt and pressed it against the wound. "Hold this," he instructed. When Spike did as he was told Xander pulled a dagger from Spike's Doc Marten's.

"What are you doing?" Spike asked.

"You need blood," was all Xander said before carefully cutting into his forearm.

Instantly Spike's mouth began to water. He hadn't had human blood in almost a year. Spike's hand dropped the bloody shirt as they latched onto Xander's arm as he began to lap up the flowing blood. His injury immediately started to heal. Once Xander's cut stopped bleed Spike pushed him onto his back and kissed him.

Xander could taste his blood from Spike's lips but he didn't care. He's been wondering since Spike stayed in the basement how his lips would feel. Xander placed his hand on the back of Spike's neck, pulling him closer.

After five minutes Spike pulled away and pressed his face against Xander's neck breathing in his scent. "You smell delicious."

A blush crept over Xander's face. "When you lived in the basement."

"What?" Spike asked pulling away.

"When you became my vampire."

Spike grinned. "Parent/teacher night."

Xander's mouth fell open. "You are such a liar!"

"I'm a liar but not about this."

Xander sat up. "A year after that you bashed my skull in with a microscope!"

"Didn't bash your skull in. If I had wanted to I could have killed you that night. Wanted you alive."

Why did that sound so damn sweet? "Let's go back to my place. I want candy, pizza and more lips of Spike."

"Sounds perfect to me." Spike jumped up and helped Xander off the ground.

Xander kissed Spike. "This has been the best Halloween ever."

Spike swore he felt his heart beat for a second. Xander dealt with a dick of a boss and faced a demon clown but he was able to make it the best Halloween. Who would have guessed. "Let's go home." Spike was going to move back in and then help Xander get a decent job to finally get out from under his father's thumb.

Grabbing Spike's hand Xander led him out of the park. He didn't question what Spike said because he wanted Spike back in the basement with him. This really was the best Halloween in Xander's book.
