Part Seven
Xander snuck out of his house, his father would be locking the doors in less than half an hour so he'd be sleeping at Spike's again… hopefully. He hefted his back pack up onto his shoulder. His heart felt like it was going to explode out of his chest. He couldn't believe he told Spike. Of course Xander started to have feelings for Spike but he was afraid. Afraid that Spike was playing some kind of long con on him. That as soon as Xander admitted it to Spike he would disappear. Spike was the only good thing in his life he couldn't lose him.
He hadn't realized he had made it to Spike's place until he was standing at the door. Before he could even knock the door was pulled open and Xander was dragged into the apartment. Xander found himself pushed against the now closed door with Spike just inches from him.
"Tell me again," Spike whispered.
Xander's instinct was to remind Spike about the grabbing but he managed to stop himself. Instead he said what Spike wanted to hear. "I like you."
Spike moved in closer to the point where he could feel Xander's breathe. "I'm going to kiss you." He was giving Xander the chance to push him away.
With a hitched breath Xander nodded his head, his voice seemed to disappear. Suddenly he wished he had chap stick because his lips were rough and dry.
Spike lightly gripped Xander's chin making him tilt his head down. He tipped his head to the side before he pressed his lips against Xander's. Spike was pleasantly surprised when Xander's hands found his hips pulling him in as close as possible and seemed to take control of the kiss. It was clear that Xander didn't have a lot of experience but that made it better. Spike could teach him.
After several minutes Xander pulled back panting slightly. While he didn't have anything to compare it to Xander thought it was an amazing first kiss.
Spike didn't move, his body still pressed against Xander's. "That was worth the wait," he expressed with a soft smile.
"Really?" Xander felt his cheeks heat up. "I mean I think so too but, really?"
"We keep practicing you'll be a pro in no time," Spike confirmed. He took Xander's hand and had him follow him to the couch. "So does that mean I've been upgraded from best friend to best boyfriend?"
Xander rolled his eyes. "You definitely don't have a self-esteem problem."
"I am God like." Spike laid down on the couch once Xander sat down using his thigh as a pillow. He sighed. "This doesn't change things for us out there though."
"I know." Xander placed his hand on Spike's chest. "We need to keep you out of a trouble. The last thing I want it making your life even more complicated."
Xander thinking he made Spike's life complicated broke his heart. "Only a few more months."
"Then you're off to L.A."
Tilting his head back Spike looked up at Xander. "You could come with me. We can get our own place. I'll go to school, you can get a job or go to college with me."
Of course Xander's plan was to get out of Sunnydale he just never thought of where he would go. "I've never been to L.A before."
"Your birthday is in late January, yeah? Lets take a road trip in February for your birthday and celebrate Valentine's Day. We can get a feel for it together. Find all the hot spots."
Xander's heart sped up with excitement. "You're serious."
"When it comes to you I'm always serious."
"Okay, let's go to L.A. I'm going to pay my share though. I'm not going to live off of you," Xander answered.
"But you could," Spike replied like it was no big deal.
Xander shook his head. "Never going to happen. I told you when I first met you I don't care about money."
"Everybody cares about money. There's nothing wrong with that." Spike didn't understand Xander sometimes. "Which reminds me I got you something. I've been holding on to it until you became my boyfriend." He was up and off the couch before Xander could open his mouth.
Xander sighed. Spike really needed to get his hearing checked. Rich people were so weird.
When Spike returned from his bedroom he held a nice looking box. He sat beside Xander and held it out for Xander to take.
"Spike…" Xander wanted to tell him no but Spike just looked so excited and happy. With a smile he accepted the box and opened it. His jaw dropped when he saw a beautiful watch nestled in the box. It was a Michael Kors watch, Xander had no idea who that was. It was all black stainless steel and sleek. It wasn't overly flashy which made Xander happy. "Thank you, Spike but you know I already have a watch."
"And it's adorable, pet. It really is but…" Spike paused as he undid the Tweety Bird watch from Xander's wrist and replaced it with the new one. "This is perfect," he finished. He looked back up at Xander so happy.
Xander brought up his arm to take a look. It did look nice on his tanned skin. He then pointed a finger at Spike. "No more gifts."
"No more gifts," Spike promised with a hand behind his back and his fingers crossed.
Xander left Spike's first the next morning. After a quick kiss. He took alleys to get to school. It was a longer walk but worth it.
"Wearing the same clothes as yesterday, Harris? Slutting it around town?" Larry called over to him. His friends laughed.
Xander looked over and saw a look of jealousy on Larry's face. "Why do you remember what I was wearing yesterday? Kind of stalkerish, don't you think?"
Larry's face turned red as his hand turned into a tight fist.
Spike had just walked up when Xander said that. It was a little creepy that Larry noticed that. Especially of someone he hated so much. Xander really needed to tell Spike what was going on with Larry. Even more so now because they were dating now.
"He's such a little shit," Larry snarled. He saw Spike staring at him but ignored him. He grabbed Chad by the labels of his Letterman jacket and dragged him off. He was going to teach Xander a lesson.
What the hell is going on? Spike ended up distracted when the entire cheer-leading squad rushed him, giggling and shaking their pom poms in his face. He mentally rolled his eyes before giving them his award winning smile.
Larry was in homeroom, leaning back in his chairing waiting for the show. He saw Spike walk in and waved him over a wide smile on his face. "Come over here, dude!"
Confused by the sudden mood change Spike made his way over. "What's got you all happy?"
"We are about to get a show, my friend," Larry said with a laugh. He nodded over to Chad who pulled out a bottle of Gorilla's super glue. His timing was perfect because he was able to douse Xander's chair with it and get back to his own desk just before Xander walked in.
Spike's eyes widened when he realized was about to happen.
Xander happened to look over and saw Larry grinning like crazy and Spike's eyes all but bulging out of his head. What was going on? He saw Spike mouth something but he couldn't make it out. With a mental shrug Xander would have to ask him about it later.
He set his backpack down on the floor before sitting down. There was a burst of laughter from the room. Did someone tell a joke and Xander just missed it? It probably wasn't that good of joke, he didn't hear Spike laughing.
Spike pulled his phone out and texted Xander.
'They put super glue on your seat.'
Xander's phone dinged and he opened up the message. 'What?'
'You are glued to your seat!'
Xander reread the text multiple times. That couldn't be right. He turned his phone off and as subtly as possible went to turn in his seat to put his phone in his backpack. Nothing happened. His back and butt never left the seat of the chair. Xander squeezed his eyes shut. This was not happening.
"What's the matter, Harris?" Larry asked with a laugh in his voice.
Ms. Fletcher walked in and instantly noticed something was off. "Alexander, you're not reading one of your comics."
"I... didn't bring one today," Xander replied as he tried to figure out what to do.
"William, in your own seat," Ms. Fletcher said.
"You get a front row seat to the show," Larry whispered as he slapped Spike on the shoulder.
Spike didn't say anything as he made his way from the back of the class to the front of it. When he sat down he whispered, "how bad is it?"
Xander tried to stand but couldn't. The class laughed. "Bad."
"What is so funny?" Ms. Fletcher asked.
"Xander noticed the board isn't completely cleaned, Ms. Fletcher," Larry said from the back of the room.
Ms. Fletcher looked at her whiteboard and saw there were still some specks of marker left. "If it's bothering you, Alexander, come up and wipe it off." She picked up the dry eraser and held it up for him to come take.
The laughing started again.
"I can't, Ms. Fletcher." Xander put his head down. "I'm glued to my seat."
