Part Nine

Xander sat on Spike's bed with his legs crossed as he watched Spike go through his clothes trying to figure out which clothes to bring home with him.

"Did you bring all your clothes here?" Xander asked.

"Only half," Spike replied.

Only half? Xander eyed the closet. There was no way Spike's entire wardrobe would fit in this one closet. "Then why are you packing? Why don't you just wear what you left at your parents place? Shouldn't a carry on work for your laptop, toiletry bag and whatever else you actually need to take home? It'll save your time and money."

Spike was just pulling a shirt out of the closet when Xander said that. He looked from the shirt to Xander back to the shirt. Why hadn't he thought of that? He stuffed the shirt back in its spot before turning and jumping on the bed. He climbed onto Xander's lap before planting kisses all over his face. "Not only are you bloody gorgeous but a genius as well!"

Xander wrapped his arms around Spike. "What can I say? If I can find ways to save money and spend extra time with you instead of you packing I'm your guy." He kissed Spike's neck. Normally he wouldn't be so bold but he was slowly becoming more comfortable with being touchy feely. "I can't believe you're going to be gone for two weeks."

"We'll talk everyday. And you said Bill is going to let you work full shifts during the holidays. You'll hardly know I'm gone."

"I'll know," Xander replied sadly. He cheered up Spike reminding him of his present. "Speaking of Bill."

Jealousy crept up on Spike. "I don't need to worry about competition, do I?"

"One ew! Bill is a great guy but he's the same age as my dad. And two there is absolutely no competition when it comes to you," Xander reassured. "For a person who has no problem with your self-esteem you sure seem to panic when you think I might like someone else."

Xander was right. It was weird because he's never been jealous when it came to his ex-boyfriend it was always the opposite. "I've never felt this way about someone before. I don't want to lose you."

"There's only one way to lose me and I don't think you'll ever do that."

Spike remembered the promise he made all those months ago. "Never going to hurt you, luv." Xander smiled at him and Spike could see the trust in it. "Alright so what about Bill?"

"For your Christmas present I asked if me and a "friend" could come in after closing one night and watch a movie. All the day old popcorn and nachos we can eat," Xander said making the idea even more enticing.

"Date night that's not in our apartment?" Spike asked trying to contain his excitement.

Xander's body always seemed to warm up when Spike referred to the apartment as theirs. "Yup! We'll make a plan when you get back. That horror movie Escape Room comes out next month."

"Sounds bloody amazing, Xan." This was the best Christmas present Spike had ever gotten and he's received a lot of amazing and expensive presents in his short life. The trip to Hawaii last year with a group of friends being one of them. But being out in the world with Xander? Nothing would beat that. He climbed off of Xander and went to his dresser. "I've got you a present as well."

Oh God, Xander thought. As much as he tried to teach Spike moderation it didn't stick. He looked down at the watch he was wearing. He also had a brand new HP laptop in his room. One that he didn't really need. He had internet access on his iPhone 5. "Spike, please tell me you didn't go overboard… again."

"Is it considered overboard if it's an investment?" Spike asked as he pulled out a small, red binder.

Xander buried his face into his hands. This was going to be the Metallic Amazing Spider-Man Funko pop all over again. "Spike…" he was about to chastise Spike.

"Come on, Xan," Spike whined. "It's Christmas!"

"Would it make any difference if I said no?" Xander asked, already knowing the answer.

Spike shook his head before holding out the red binder for Xander to take.

Xander instantly saw the words Pokemon: Got to Catch Them All with a Pikachu. "What did you do?" he asked while he accepted the book.

"You've talked about Pokemon before so I went on Ebay and saw someone selling there card collection from the 90's. There might be some good ones in there. Maybe worth some money."

"This is too much, Spike. You don't understand how much some cards can be worth," Xander explained as he opened it up.

Spike sat down beside Xander and looked over his shoulder. Some of the creatures were cute while others not so much. He only knew a handful of their names. Even though he knew absolutely nothing about Pokemon Squirtle was his favorite. Xander told him they all eventually evolved but they weren't as cute all grown up.

Straightaway Xander knew that there were some really good cards. There were quite a few that had to be a hundred dollars each. Either the previous owner didn't know much about Pokemon cards value or they just didn't want to put in the work to find out. Xander didn't know how much they were worth either. He went from page to page spotting some of his old favorites. He turned to the last page he swear he stopped breathing.

"Xan? Xan, what's wrong? Breathe, luv!" Spike started to panic. Was there something wrong with the cards? So far they all looked good to him.

Xander looked at Spike with wide eyes. "These last four cards are first edition holographic cards."

"Is that good?" Spike asked.

"Spike, depending on the grading these could be worth a lot of money. This Machamp could be worth a grand," Xander said pointing to a blue Pokemon with four arms. "And this Zapados could be fifteen hundred." It was a yellow bird.

Spike scratched the back of his head. He'd heard some of these could be worth some money but he just thought a couple hundred dollars. "Seriously? People spend that much on one card?" The value of the Machamp was the same price as Spike's rent.

"You have no idea."

"And you think I spend too much money," Spike grumbled.

Xander ignored him. "And Mewtwo? At least two thousand."

"Bloody hell," Spike said. He'd only spent five hundred dollars on the whole lot. What about this grown up Charmander?"

"This Charizard my gorgeous boyfriend depending on the condition and what grade it is could be worth ten thousand dollars maybe more." Xander tried to make sure his shaky hands didn't drop the book.

Spike now understood why Xander almost passed out. "I wasn't joking when I said this was an investment, was I?"

Carefully Xander closed the binder and held it out to Spike. "I can't accept this. Keep these safe you never know how much they could be worth in five years. I know every time you give me something I say that it's too much but this time it is really too much."

"It's all yours, luv. I bought them for you. We just got lucky on the bunch," Spike replied. "I'm not taking them back."

Defeated Xander nodded. He would put it in his dresser to keep it safe.

Spike kissed the side of Xander's head. "Let's order pizza and find a Christmas movie to watch. I've got to head to L.A early. The Uber driver should be here around five-thirty."

Normally Xander would say that would be a waste of money but if Spike didn't take an Uber he'd have to drive his motorcycle in the dark. He stood up pulling Spike with him. "Let go chill." Chill was code for making out.

Spike loved chilling with Xander.

Note: I know absolutely nothing about Pokemon they just seem to be way more popular lately and I have Youtubers that do openings. Any prices I give are ones I found online so they might be wrong.

Note 2: Would an Uber drive to another city? I've never taken one before.
