Note: I feel like this story is possibly over dramatic. Not what I really write but it just kind of went that direction.
Note 2: I'm sorry there was no new chapter last week. I had to babysit last minute and I didn't have my computer with me.
Part Fifteen
It was Valentine's day and Spike got quite a bit of sweets from the cheerleaders. It looked like Harmony tried to by out an entire candy store with how much stuff she handed Spike. Xander would be set on sweet for until next year. "Happy Valentine's Day, Spikey!"
"Happy Valentine's Day, Harm," Spike handed her a box of chocolates he ordered from England.
Harmony squealed excitedly not seeming to realize that she wasn't the only one with a box. "Let's go out this weekend!"
"I'm headed to L.A tonight. With no school tomorrow my parents are flying in to look at apartments and to help me fill out my UCLA application." It wasn't really a lie. Spike and Xander were going to be checking out areas for apartments and he was picking up an application from the University while they checked out the nightlife. They had some underage night clubs that Spike was looking forward to going to with Xander. "I'm heading out on my bike after school."
"When are you going to ask me out, Spike?" Harmony whined frustrated with Spike.
Spike stopped himself from rolling his eyes. "I told you, Harm, my priority is school. I don't have time to date."
Harmony flipped her hair over her shoulder. "We're going to date, Blondie Bear. Grade my words."
"What?" Spike asked, confusion coloured his face.
"She means mark my words. Ignore her, she ate lead paint as a child," Cordelia explained. How was Harmony her best friend?
Feeling the need to defend herself Harmony said, "Same diff! And it was only once! My cousin dared me to!"
Spike ignored her and handed Cordelia chocolates as well. Our of the corner of his eye he saw Xander walk by. The cast had been removed a few days ago, his right wrist and lower arm were much paler than the rest of his tanned arms. He was wearing his standard baggy jeans and Hawaiian shirt. He looked delicious! He could not wait to have Xander pressed against him on his bike.
Xander met Spike by the 'Now Leaving Sunnydale' sign after going back to the apartment, dropping off his school stuff before putting clothes in to his backpack for him and Spike. When Spike pulled up Xander almost swallowed his tongue. Sure, he'd seen Spike on his bike before he rode it to school everyday but there was just something different this time.
"You gonna stop gawking, and get on?" Spike asked. As much as he loved Xander looking at him he wanted to get on the road. He held out a helmet for Xander who quickly put it on.
Xander ignored the blush that covered his cheeks. It was an awkward few minutes of Xander panicking saying he was going to knock them both off. Finally Spike coaxed him onto the bike, used his hands to drag Xander forward until the were plastered against each other and tightly wrapped Xander's arms around his stomach.
"I love you, pet, but we've got to hit the road before it's too dark. I don't think you'd like that."
"Sorry," Xander said as he tightened his hold.
Spike patted Xander's hands. "Probably should have done a practice drive. You got the bag secure?"
"Yup, let's go before I completely chicken out."
Spike started the motorcycle up and felt Xander jump at the vibration. Yeah, definitely should have had a practice run.
Normally Spike would speed on the motorways back home but considering he'd never gone to L.A on his bike before and Xander would have freaked out Spike stayed below the maximum speed. It took them longer than it should have to get to L.A because Xander needed a few breaks. He had got used to the feel of being on the bike and the being pressed against Spike definitely helped but his wrist would randomly ache from all the pressure Xander was giving it holding onto Spike. They'd pull off to the side of the road and stretch their legs while Spike massaged Xander's wrist.
After their last stop Spike put in the address for the Beverly Hills Plaza Hotel & Spa into the GPS. "It won't be too much longer, Xan. Once we're settled in I'll grab you some ice for your wrist."
Xander rolled his wrist a couple times. "It's okay."
Spike ignored him. "After you've iced it a bit I'll wrap it up for you."
"I forgot it on the bathroom counter."
"I packed it this morning in the small," Spike replied. He placed a kiss on Xander's wrist. "Come on."
It was another thirty minutes before they made it to the hotel. "Spike… this looks really fancy."
"It's close to UCLA. I figure we could walk around tomorrow check out the near by apartment buildings and go to the university for an application. We'll grab some lunch and walk around before we check out some clubs."
As they walked into the hotel Xander thought about the clothes he brought. "I don't know if I have clubbing clothes."
"Doesn't matter, luv. You look good in anything," Spike reassured Xander.
Xander stood off to the side as Spike got them checked in. The lady behind the desk eyed both of them when she saw their room only had one bed. Xander couldn't even make the excuse 'it's cheaper' when they were staying at such a lavish place.
"Alright, Xan. Our junior suite awaits us." Spike held out a key card for Xander. Once Xander pocketed it Spike took his hand and led him to the elevators. "How about we order food?"
"Sounds good. I just want to veg." Xander was too tired to argue with Spike about him booking them a junior suite. He'd find out later how much he owed for his share. Spike opened the door and flicked on the nearby light. "Wow." Xander stepped in dropping his bag off to the side.
The room was almost the size of the living room and kitchen combined in the apartment. The walls were beige, the floor was patterned with light brown and dark brown squares. The bedding and couch were white with blue throw pillows. While did they have to be white? Xander would have to place towels down on the couch before they even thought about eating and even then they might have to sit on the floor depending on what they got. There was a small kitchenette. When they were out tomorrow they'd have to pick up a few things. Fruit and bottled water.
"Not too shabby," Spike said as he walked out of the bathroom. "Was hoping the tub would be a bit bigger."
"Not to shabby?" Xander asked wondering if Spike had lost his mind. "This place is like the Taj Mahal!"
Xander was a breathe of fresh air. While Spike never understood Xander when money was involved, it was always so nice to see him appreciate everything he experienced. "Why don't you relax while I go get your some ice. When I come back we'll figure out dinner."
"I can get it," Xander started heading for the door but Spike placed a hand on his chest.
"You sit down and relax while I go get you some ice," Spike repeated himself.
Xander kissed Spike. "Thanks, baby."
Spike felt his cheeks heat up and he rushed out of the room to get Xander the ice.
Seeing Spike get all flustered when he called him baby made Xander's heart swell. The fact that no one else could make Spike react that way made Xander feel special. Something he'd never felt before he met Spike. He must have zoned out because Spike was suddenly kneeling in front of him with a hand towel holding it against Xander's wrist.
"Thought you fell asleep," Spike murmured.
Xander titled his head and smiled. "Nope, just thinking how happy I am."
Spike ran a thumb over Xander's cheek. "You're tired."
"That too," Xander laughed. He rubbed his hand on his hair messing it up more than what the helmet had. "But mostly happy."
"You're a git," Spike said affectionately.
They sat quietly for a few minutes before Spike stood up and walked into the bathroom. Xander heard the remaining ice clank into the sink. Spike then came back out and dug the tension bandage out and went. He sat beside Xander and began to wrap up his wrist. "All done."
Xander wiggled his fingers. "Perfect. You know if owning a club doesn't work out you'd make a great nurse."
"The only person I'm taking care of is you." He entwined his fingers with Xander's with one had and used the other to start going through his Door Dash app. "What do you feel like?"
"Hmm…" Xander leaned himself against Spike to see the app. A place caught his eye. "What about Hollywood Burger?"
Spike's lips twitched. "Tourist," he said but clicked on the it bringing up their menu.
"Shush." L.A was a big place even once they moved here Xander was going to feel like a tourist for awhile. Why not act like it? "I will get the V.I.P bacon cheeseburger, chili cheese fries, and an Oreo milkshake, please."
Spike tapped on the items and added the Star Clucker, onion rings and a strawberry milkshake before placing the order. "There we go. Now we just have to hope it doesn't take too long."
"I packed some granola bars if you're hungry."
"I'm good." Spike opened Netflix on his phone. The controller was in front of the T.V and Xander was snuggled against Spike. He'd grab it once the food got there. He turned on The Office. A few minutes in Xander was softly snoring in Spike's ear. He hoped the food took a little longer to get there. "Happy Valentine's Day, Xan."
