For the most part their relationship was normal, aside from their apparent mutual kink that led to great sex. They were friends, as they always had been.

Rin enjoyed staying in and watching television with him or sitting outside and staring at the night sky just as much as she did when he took her out, she just liked being with Sesshomaru.

She always had. Even as a little girl she would seek him out, knocking on the house next door asking if he would come out and play. Even though Inuyasha was closer to her age he didn't want to play with a girl not to mention he played extremely rough.

Sesshomaru would sit with Rin reading as she played quietly picking flowers that grew between the houses or even sitting with him as he read to her.

Although they were both grown they still enjoyed their quiet companionship when they weren't playing around.

Sitting on the sofa Rin watched as the sun set below the cityscape while Sesshomaru was reading up on the latest happenings in the stock market world.

He had explained it to her but she was never one for statistics, predicting trends, or mathematics in general. Rin preferred the arts more than anything and began to think about what to do once Sesshomaru went back to work in a months time.

The vibration of her phone brought her out of her reverie as she grasped it from its spot on top of the couch.

Glancing at the contact that popped up she couldn't believe who was calling her.

"Hello?" She answered timidly once the phone was to her ear.

"Rin. Where the hell are you? The damn hospitals been calling about your mother and I can't be…" Her father yelled into the phone.

"Wait! What?!" Sitting upright quickly she felt panic seize her.

"They keep calling me since I'm still listed as her emergency contact. Your mother is not my problem!"

"What happened to my mother?" Sesshomaru placed his paper down and took the phone from her putting it on speaker phone.

"If you were where you're supposed to be then you would know!"

"Saito-san." Sesshomaru said in a commanding, no nonsense tone.

"Who is this?"

"Nakano Sesshomaru." He said. "I will only say this once…"

"Sesshomaru?"

"You will send me your lawyers contact information. My lawyer will set up the necessary arrangements to transfer all financial responsibility that you may have on behalf of your ex-wife." He said.

"Who the hell do you think you are? You're just a kid! Put my daughter back on the phone!" Rin felt her face heat up from embarrassment and the pulse pound angrily in her temples from panic.

"Neither Rin nor her mother are any of your concern. Send the contact information to her phone." Hanging up the phone he took Rin into his arm as she leaned against him and began to sob.

Grasping his own cell phone he called his mother, not something he wanted to do but knew it was a necessary evil, to find out what exactly had happened and where the elder Saito woman was.

"Well, isn't this a treat? My son actually called me for a change." She teased.

"What happened to Saito-san next door?" Cutting right to the chase he didn't have patience for her games.

"Did they call Rin?" Her voice changed to one of concern.

"Her father did."

"I gave the paramedics Rins information but I guess they didn't listen, what else is new. No one ever listens to the mother." She sighed out.

"Hinata fell outside. She was on the front porch and she just…fell. She hit her head on the walkway giving her a nasty gash."

"Where did they take her?"

"Tokyo General." She replied. "Please let Rin know that we have been doing our best to care for Hinata, we just can't be there with her all the time."

"Understood. Goodbye mother." Hanging up the phone he went into the search engine on his phone looking up the number for the hospital.

Rin had tucked herself into a small ball and laid her head in his lap as he rubbed her arm and shoulder in a soothing manner.

"I'm a bad daughter." She choked out.

"No, you're not." Sesshomaru replied putting the phone down for a moment.

"I know it doesn't seem like it Rin but this is the best possible outcome."

Tearfully looking up at him he pushed back her bangs and swiped her tears away. Her big brown eyes stared at up him expectantly.

"This will cut ties with your father. He clearly does not have your best interest in mind, he is someone you can do without." Sniffling she turned into his hand rubbing her cheek against his palm. "Furthermore, we can get your mother the help she needs. Comfort aides, mental health, counseling, even rehabilitation."

"I should go home." She whispered out.

"Rin, your mother needs far more help then what you are capable of providing." Sesshomaru stroked her cheek.

She tensed and began to sob into his hand. "I tried, I tried so hard and it didn't matter what I said or did she just…she just…"

"We can go there together. Put into place services for her, ensure that she is in a safe place. All of these things we can do but ultimately it will be up to her to be well again." He assuaged.

Closing her eyes Rin wiped her eyes and moved her head to stare up at the ceiling. "I should call the hospital."

Handing her the phone with the number already pulled up she took a breath. Luckily her mother wasn't seriously injured.

She had cut open her forehead when she fell that required stitches close to her hairline. She had a suspected concussion but it was hard to tell with her level of intoxication.

Her mother would be held for observation and treatment, they would provide counseling for her and try to talk her into admitting herself into a substance abuse program and sober living.

Rin nodded listening with the phone on speaker phone. "Thank you, for everything." She replied barely holding herself together. "I am currently abroad but I will take the necessary steps in helping her into treatment."

"I understand." The nurse said kindly. "We will keep in touch Saito-san."

"Thank you kangofu-san." Rin said properly addressing the woman.

"Of course. Goodbye Saito-san."

"Goodbye." Rin hung up the phone and placed it down. Sesshomaru stood taking his laptop from the breakfast bar where he charged it and sat back next to Rin.

"How soon do you want to leave?" Sesshomaru asked. "I can charter a private jet if you want to go now."

"No. I don't want to go at all." She said softly. "I just don't want to deal with any of this." Covering her face with her hands she heard him close the laptop. "I am so tired Sesshomaru…I can't deal with this anymore."

"Then don't." Taking her into both of his arms she cuddled under his chin. "Rin-chan, I will take care of of it all if you want me to."

"Please, just for now."

"We will more than likely have to sign papers giving me permission to have access to her information since I am not a relative."

"Okay." Climbing jnto his lap she kissed him tenderly fisting his shirt into her hands. Returning it for a moment he was the one to break it.

"Sex will not help you feel better." He said.

"Yes it will." Her tone sounded desperate as she lunged to kiss him again. Keeping it chaste he ended the second one as well.

"All it will do is put a temporary bandage on your emotions. In the long run it will not do you any good." Sesshomaru held her around her waist as she sighed frustrated. "What you need is real comfort."

"Like what?"

"Whatever you want. It could be in the form of food or drink, a movie or…"

"I want a big bowl of chicken ramen. Ginger ice cream and Ramune soda." She said.

"No problem. I will draw you a bath and order your food." He said receiving s slight head shake from her.

"After we eat I want you to shower with me, just a shower. Then afterwards I'll put on my comfortable pajamas, not the sexy ones I've been wearing."

"Absolutely." He said bringing his watch up to his face. "Call Jaken."

"Mr. Nakano. How can I help you?" Jaken asked from the other end.

"I am sending you a dinner order. Have the items sent to my home." He ordered.

"Yes, of course sir." Sesshomaru hung up and sent him all of the information from his watch. Rin cuddled under his chin again and sat against him quietly listening to his heart beat.

"Rin-chan." Opening her eyes she hadn't realized she had fallen asleep. She was laying on the couch with Sesshomaru beside her rubbing her shoulder gently. "Dinner is here."

Sitting up slowly and rubbing at her eyes she nodded. She felt that her hair was a mess and didn't care enough as she let herself be led to sit at the breakfast bar.

Two bowls of ramen sat with a small dish of ice cream. A bottle of peach soda sat in front of the bowl. Rin sat at her seat and felt her eyes begin to water.

Swiping at them as Sesshomaru sat beside her she put her hands together. "Itadakimasu." She said respectfully and picked up her chopsticks.

The soup was warm and filling. Sesshomaru opened her bottle of soda for her as well as his and smirked.

"I haven't had this soda since I was twelve." Amused he held the bottle up to her. Taking her own they both pushed the marble down into the bottle neck and took a sip.

"Funny, I don't want to go back home but I want things from home." Placing the bottle down she sighed. "Thank you."

"You are welcome Rin-chan." Finally getting a small smile from her she looked at him fondly.

"Sesshomaru-kun." She retorted softly. He in turn smiled at her.

"No one has called me that in a very long time."

"Maybe sometimes I will call you that then, if you don't mind."

"No, I don't mind." Resuming their meal Rin finished off her bowl slurping loudly at her noodles fully immersing herself in the comfort of the act.

Sesshomaru put the ice cream away and managed to get her marble out of her soda bottle handing it to her. Rolling it around in her hand she smirked.

"Can we go upstairs now?" Looking at him he stood and took her hand taking her into the shower and tub room.

Grabbing a large towel before he turned on the water making sure the water was warm enough he turned on the sauna lights and shut the door heating up the room.

Taking Rins cue as she began to undress herself he did as well and sat beside her on the shower bench as the overhead jets sprayed water in a mist.

She leaned against him enjoying the heat from the water, lights, and him. "Before I got that phone call I was thinking about what I should do with my life once your vacation is over. I wasn't able to get very far though."

"Whatever you decide, I'll help if you want me to."

"I'll think about it tomorrow." Straightening herself out she stood up. "I'm going to get out." Glancing back at Sesshomaru as she stepped out of the shower and wrapped one of the towels around herself she went into the powder room to brush out her hair.

Picking up the brush she began to drag it down her hair only to have it get stuck. Sighing in exasperation she was grateful when he came up behind her with his own towel wrapped around his waist and began brushing out her hair.

Once it was relatively tamed they went into the bedroom and dressed for bed. Rin put on a pair of flannel pants and a t-shirt while Sesshomaru just wore his boxer shorts.

Pulling down the comforter for her Rin climbed into bed and patted the side that he slept on. Covering them both Rin sunk into his arms that wrapped around her snugly as she stared out of her window to the world, as she liked to refer to it.

Rubbing his thumb over her hands Rin moved her legs apart so he could place one of his in between spooning her. Placing a light kiss to her cheek he nuzzled against her hair.

"Sleep Rin-chan. Tomorrow is a new day, a better day." He whispered.

"Okay Sesshomaru-kun." Clearing her throat as she spoke she didn't know how she would ever sleep but found all of the comfort he provided her with was enough to lull her into a dreamless state.
