A few days later, Thursday, January 6, 2028, New York, New York

Over the last few days, Micah and Mackynzie got to know the man who created them. They may have just met Cody, but they were very attached to him from the beginning. It's now time to go back to school after a whole two weeks off of school for Christmas break. Bailey got to know Cody after fifteen years. Cody has changed a lot. But his cooking skills haven't changed at all. With Cody and Betty now divorced, they spilt the time between the kids which was very hard on Savannah. With that in mind, Cody wanted to get to know Bailey again without the kids listening, so he came up with the idea of asking her out on a date, as friends of course. He only has been divorced for only a few days. It would definitely be rude to move on that quickly from Betty, who Cody has been with for fifteen years, but she knew him as Jughead.

Mackynzie, Micah, Addie, Aydenn and Rayne all headed into the high school together. Mackynzie saw how nervous Rayne was, she looked at her.

"Hey, are you okay?" She asks Rayne.

Rayne shook her head. "I'm so fucking nervous. I never been the 'new girl' before. It's just a little overwhelming."

Micah nods his head. "If you need me to knock someone's teeth out, I'll do it..."

Mackynzie looks at her brother. "Micah, chill, she'll be fine."

Aydenn looks at Rayne. "And, if Micah gets knocked out, I'll do it."

Addie rolled her eyes. "Boys, she can take care of herself. She has had been in Riverdale. I heard that area has hard bitches."

Rayne nods. "Yeah, I went to Riverdale High for like three months until moving here. My mom told me all of the scary shit went on when she was there. After graduation, she found out she was pregnant with me. I don't know if she ever went to college because she had to raise me..."

Addie's eyes went wide. "Damn."

"Our mom went back to school when Mic and I were in eighth grade. She's finally taking her last few exams over the next upcoming weeks to finish her first year of college over the next couple of months." Mackynzie says, opening her locker.

Rayne smiles. "That's great." She says, opening her locker as well.

"Yeah, she's amazing." Mackynzie smiles at the thought of her mother.

The first bell rings, and Mackynzie, Micah, Rayne, Addie and Aydenn go their separate ways to their first 4 classes.

Meanwhile, Mackynzie and Micah are at school, Cody and Bailey were at work. While Bailey was working, her door was being knocked on. After letting whoever was behind the door in, Bailey saw a man holding flowers.

"Bailey Pickett?"

Bailey nods her head. "That's me."

The man smiles, placing the flowers and card down on her desk. "These are for you."

Bailey's eyes went wide. She stared at the roses. That's her favorite flower. She picks up the letter in front of her and opened it.

Bailey,

I can't express how much hurt I've caused you in the past fifteen years we've been apart. You went through a pregnancy by yourself, raised two amazing kids. Our kids. How can I repay you for bringing them into the world and doing all by yourself? I know I've missed 15 years of their lives and I can't get back what I've missed. But, I don't plan on missing anything else. If you can find it in your heart, can you please forgive me? Can I be the father they didn't have for 15 years?
I can't imagine the things Zack did for our little girl. He was there when I wasn't. I ran away from you, over a stupid rejection. Fuck, I wish I could get back everything I missed, but I can't.
What I'm trying to say is that I'm officially divorced and I want to give us a chance again. Can we try again?
Will you go on a date with me tonight?

Cody.

Bailey's eyes went wide. He got divorced? What happened? He wants to go on a date? It's been 5 years since she's ever been on a date.

Bailey tried dating for a few months after the twins birth and found a guy, Danny, who she dated after 5 years before single breaking up with him after being with him for 10 years. She was sitting in her office chair in complete shock. She had a lot of paperwork to do. After a few minutes of her fighting with herself, she went back to work.

°°°
After being apart for four classes, Mackynzie, Micah, Addie and Aydenn and Rayne met up for lunch.

"How is your first day going so far?" Mackynzie says as she looks at Rayne, her step sister. Even though Bailey isn't with Cody, Rayne is his daughter, so Mackynzie decided to give Rayne a chance to get to know her sister she never had.

"It's going good I guess. Dad is having all of us change our last names tomorrow and I'm kinda feeling weird about it."

Mackynzie shrugged. "It will take some getting used to. Micah and I have our mother's last name."

Rayne smiles slightly. "Well, that's understandable. Our dad wasn't in your life for 15 years. She had to do what she had to, right?"

Micah looked at her with a weird look, Mackynzie saw it and elbowed him. "Ow. What?"

Mackynzie shook her head and stood up. "Excuse us. My brother needs to learn to be fucking nice. I think he hasn't learned that yet..." Mackynzie grabbed her brother's arm and dragged him out of the lunch room to the hallway.

"What the fuck was that look you gave her? Huh?" She was angry with her brother, crossing her arms.

Micah groans. "She was rude, Mack. She thinks our dad walked out on us! The man didn't know our mom was pregnant!" He says, angry.

"I know that. Don't tell me something I fucking know! Micah, she's our step sister! At least try to be nice to her. We're the only people she knows here, besides Addie and Aydenn. Grow up, okay?" Mackynzie says, sighing, running her fingers through her blonde hair.

"Fine, I'll be nice." Micah says, walking back to their table with Mackynzie behind him.

"Sorry about that." Mackynzie says, sitting down.

Addie looked at her cousin. "It's okay. Hey, did you hear that there's gonna be a party at Jake Sanchez's house this weekend?"

Mackynzie shook her head. "No, I didn't know."

Rayne looked at her step sister. "Who's he?"

Addie giggled. "Someone who Kynz has been crushing on for the past few months. She's too scary cat to ask the guy out, though. He's 18."

Rayne smiles. "You should ask him out..."

Micah shook his head. "Nope. Just no. He's a play boy. I've seen him around school. He doesn't date. He sleeps with girls and then 'see ya'!"

Mackynzie groaned. "Please don't ruin this for me."

Micah shook his head. "I will if I can prevent you getting hurt, Mackynzie."

Rayne rolled her eyes. "If she likes him, let her at least try. If she gets hurt, that dude isn't for her."

Mackynzie nods. "Thank you, Rayne." Rayne smiles at her.

"You're welcome."

After lunch, they headed to their last four classes before they head home together. They head their parent's apartments and when Rayne walked into hers, she saw her aunt Veronica and uncle Archie sitting on the couch, waiting for her.

"Hi honey." Veronica says, standing up from the couch and hugs her. "We need to talk to you..."

Rayne nods her head as she sat down on the couch with her aunt and uncle. "Okay..."

Veronica grabbed her hand. "We got the call from the hospital. Sweetie, your mother was an car accident and she passed away from the injuries..." She says with tears in her eyes.

Rayne's eyes went wide. Tears came to her eyes and buried her head into Veronica's shoulder and she began sobbing. Her heart was breaking.

Veronica rubbed her back and kissed her head. "Honey, I'm so sorry. It's okay, I'm right here."

While, Rayne was taking in her mother's loss, Micah and Mackynzie walks into their apartment and saw it was empty and there was a note.

Mack and Micah, I went to work and there's a snack in the fridge. See you at 3.

Dad.

Mackynzie smiles as she opened the fridge and began eating the food. "Holy shit, this is the most amazing thing I've ever had."

Micah ran over to her. "I gotta try that!" He says, grabbing a piece. "Holy shit. That is amazing!"

An hour later, Cody and Bailey both walked into the apartment, seeing their kids on the couch.

"No! It's my turn to pick the movie, Mackynzie Marie! You got to pick yesterday!" Micah yelled.

"Yeah? I'm not watching something that I'll fall asleep watching!" Mackynzie yells.

"That's bullshit, and you know it. You do not fall asleep! I do when you pick something!" Micah grabbed the remote.

"Mackynzie Marie and Micah Mitchell!" Bailey yells, she grabbed the remote from them. "You two do this everyday. I swear to God, you've been fighting since you could talk. Both of you, go to your rooms!" Bailey glared at them.

Mackynzie groaned. "This is your fault. I wanted to watch The Good Doctor!" She sighs as she turned to her parents. "Can I go to a party this weekend?"

Cody looks at Bailey, who shrugged. "Well, as long you are safe, no drinking or smoking. And I need to know where it is." Bailey says.

"Thank you!" She hugs her mother, and then runs upstairs. Cody looks at Bailey. "Wow. You've changed. You let our fifteen year old daughter go to parties?"

Bailey chuckled. "Well, she's a good girl. She never gives me a reason to not trust her. She has good grades."

Cody laughed. "Mother like daughter." He turned to her when Micah was finally upstairs. "Did you get my flowers with the note?"

Bailey turned to him. "I did. Thank you." She sat down on the couch. "I need to think about it."

Cody nods. "I can do that." He smiles as he goes to the kitchen to prepare for dinner and before he could do anything, his phone begins ringing. He saw who was calling, he picked it up and answered, walking into the hallway.

"Hi, Arch. What's up?" After Archie explains what happened to Betty, Cody felt his heart break for his children he shared with her. She was gone.

He walks into Bailey's apartment. "Bailey? I need to go see my other children. Something happened with their mother..."

Bailey nods. "Okay. Keep me updated..."

"I will..." He says, shutting the door behind him.

AN: Cliffhanger. As much as I want to do the funeral, I can't find my heart to do it, so I'll skip to when Mackynzie goes to the party and Cody & Bailey have their first date after 15 years.

I hope you are liking where this story is going. I can't wait to continue writing it. :)
