AN: Cailey's first date in fifteen years!

Three days later, Friday, January 14, 2028

Friday has finally arrived. Bailey was finishing up at her job and then headed out to her car. Her phone began ringing in her purse as she was getting into her 2021 Nissan Rogue.

She got into the car and shut the driver's door before picking up her phone and answering.

"Kynzie? What's going on, honey?" Bailey asked her daughter, who sighs out of relief.

"Nothing is going on, Mom. When are you coming home?" Mackynzie asked her mother.

Bailey smiles. "Honey, I just got out of work. I'll be home in 15 minutes." She says to her daughter as she turns on her car.

"Alright, Mom. I'll see you in a bit." Mackynzie says before hanging up.

When Bailey arrives home, she walks into her apartment and saw Mackynzie sitting at the island, waiting for her mother.

"Hey baby." Bailey says, walking over to her eldest and hugging her.

"Hi Momma." Mackynzie hugs her back. "We have a lot of work to do."

"We do?" Bailey asked, her eyebrows raised a bit.

Mackynzie nods her head. "Yep. I want to help you with getting ready for your and dad's date."

"Oh, sweetie. That's so sweet of you." Bailey smiles at her daughter.

"I wanted to help you because I love you." Mackynzie says, getting off the stool.

"Where's your brother and father?" Bailey asks as she walks upstairs with Mackynzie right behind her.

"They're at Aunt Maya and Uncle Zack's place. Micah and I wanted you two be apart while you get ready."

They walk into Bailey's bedroom and Mackynzie heads straight to her mother's closet.

"I'll look for the perfect dress." Mackynzie starts searching through her mother's dresses.

"Do we really have to do this, Kynz? I mean your father won't care he'll..." Bailey starts, Mackynzie shakes her head.

"No, Mom. I want Dad to see you in one of your fancier dresses. Please?" Mackynzie asks her mother.

Bailey lets out a sigh. "Fine. I trust you." The young mother sits on her bed.

After a few minutes of searching, Mackynzie found a dress for her mother. "I found a dress for you, Mom."

"I'll shower then." Bailey says before grabbing a towel from the hallway closet and heads into her bathroom and gets into the shower.

After Bailey gets out of the shower, she blow dried her long red hair. She dyed her hair a few years ago because she thought she might as well change her hair color so she could have a change.

She walks out of the bathroom and into her bedroom to see the dress her daughter picked out.

"Kynz?" Bailey asked for her daughter.

Mackynzie smiles. "Mom, you'll look so beautiful. Try it on, please." She pleads.

Bailey lets out a sigh, picking up the dress and then changes in the bathroom. When she finishes changing, she walks out of the bathroom and then walks into her bedroom.

Mackynzie's eyes widened, with a smile on her face. "Wow, Mom. You look so beautiful. Dad will be surprised to see you in this."

Bailey laughs softly. "Yes, he will. When we were in high school, I never wore anything like this ever. He'll be so shocked that I have these kind of dresses." She says, fixing her hair and makeup.

"Do you like it, Mom?" Mackynzie asks her mother as she sits on her mother's bed.

"I do, honey. Thank you for helping." Bailey says, finishing up with her makeup.

"Did Papa and Nana like Dad?" Mackynzie asked her mother when Bailey left the master bathroom.

Bailey chuckles as she remembers the first time her parents met Cody. "I'll tell you that story later, sweetie."

"Okay." The teenage girl says as she heard the front door being knocked on.

"I'll get it. It's probably Dad." Mackynzie walks to the front door and as she was opening the door, Bailey walks into the living room.

"Hey sweetie." Cody smiles at his eldest daughter. "Hi, Daddy." Mackynzie let him walk inside and his eyes go wide when his eyes lock with Bailey's.

"Hey Bailey." Cody smiles at her. "Hi..." Bailey blushes.

Seeing that they want to be alone now, Mackynzie grabbed her brother's hand and dragged him out to the deck.

"Ouch, Kynz. That hurt." Micah glared at his older sister. "I don't care, Mic. They want to be alone, so let them be alone for a minute before they leave for their date."

"Fine." Micah says, groaning. "I'm not staying out here long..."

Cody smiles. "Ready to go?"

"Yeah. Let's go." Bailey smiles. She yells to her children. "We're leaving, Mackynzie and Micah!" She yells.

"Have fun!" Mackynzie yells back as the two fifteen year olds head back inside the apartment.

Bailey shuts the front door and locks it for her kids and leaves with Cody for their date.

Our first official date after fifteen years. Fuck, I'm so nervous.

Cody opens the passenger door for Bailey. "Are you excited?" He asks, as she gets into the passenger seat and he gets into the driver's seat.

She nods her head. "Yes, I'm excited to get to know the now Cody."

"I'm excited to get to know you again too, Bailey. It's been so long." Cody heads off to the restaurant in NYC.

"Yeah, it has been fifteen years since we've been on a date with each other. I'm not sure where this will go for us, but I want to give us a try..." Bailey tells him. "I've been trying to get to having you around after not having you here for so long." She says, truthfully.

Cody nods his head. "I understand. I really do. That's why I want to get to know you before we make a decision of what's next for us. I don't want to be holding on by the past to help us be together."

Bailey nods her head. "Yeah. Plus, you just got out of a fourteen year marriage with someone who you clearly loved. I don't want to rush anything to make it uncomfortable for your other kids."

Cody gave a nod, with a sigh. "That's true. I don't want them to feel like I didn't care about their mother because I did." He turns into the parking lot of the restaurant.

They head into the restaurant and get seated at their table. When they were given their menus, Cody looked at Bailey. "You look so beautiful. I never pictured you in a dress like that before."

She laughs softly, blushing. "Thank you. Mackynzie talked me into wearing it." She laughs again. "I think she wants me to freeze my butt off for a bit."

He chuckles. "I guess so." Cody breathes in and out. "I don't think I ever said how well you raised her and Micah." Cody starts as he looks out the window. "How did you do it?" He asked her and she sighs, chuckling a little before taking a sip of her drink.

"Well, I found out I was pregnant after graduation, so I had called Yale and I told them I wasn't going in August. They understood surprisingly. I stayed with your mother for my whole pregnancy and a year of their lives until I moved closer to Zack and Maya. They were in NYC for college so, I packed everything I had with me. I stayed with Zack and Maya in their rented place at the time until I found the place I'm at now. I stayed with them for six months before moving out. They don't live that far from me." Bailey explains to Cody.

Cody nods as Bailey continued. "Adaylynn and Aydenn were born a day after I gave birth to Mackynzie and Micah. They grew up together, more like siblings in a way than cousins. Since I was a ingle mother for so long, Zack kinda took on being the uncle who was like a dad for them sometimes. I don't know what I'd do without him."

Cody frowns. He was feeling bad he had left her when she needed him the most. "Bailey, I don't want to sit here and say I'm sorry the whole fucking time because I know it's not right of me to have you forgive me so quickly. I want to get to know the new Bailey."

She smiles slightly. "I want to get to know the new Cody." She took another sip of her drink.

They enjoy their dinner and continue to talk about everything they have been through for the past fifteen years.

Meanwhile Cody and Bailey were on their date, Mackynzie and Micah invited Addie and Aydenn over to keep them busy while their parents were on their date.

Addie took a sip of her water. "So, how has it been having your dad around now?" She asks her cousins.

Micah was playing video games with Aydenn. "It has been good, I guess. We haven't gotten to know his other kids yet because Rayne, his first born daughter with his ex wife, Elizabeth, isn't in the mood to get to know us yet. She has been with his friends, Archie and Veronica for a few days now." He says, still keeping his eyes on the TV.

Addie's eyes widened. "Wow. That's rough."

Mackynzie sighs. "I kinda understand why they're not wanting to get to know us right now. They are still mourning their mother, Micah. They are in a mourning stage."

Micah sighs. "Good point." He looks at his sister. "Have you tried texting her?"

Mackynzie nods. "Yeah, she said she'll talk to me in a few days. I don't want to pry her, Mic. She's been through a lot lately. Her parents got divorced and then her mother passes away. I'm not going to force her to have a relationship with us if she's not ready to do so."

Addie nods her head, agreeing with Mackynzie. "I agree with Kynzie." She looks at Micah. "You shouldn't force the poor girl a relationship with you if she's not ready to have another sister and brother. She is only fourteen, right?"

Mackynzie nods her head. "Yeah, I think that's what she said."

Aydenn smiles as he kills Micah in the video game. Micah's eyes widened. "Bullshit, Aydenn! You asshole. I was going to kill you first!"

Aydenn starts chuckling. "Dude, you had a chance and you didn't do it." He laughs uncontrollably.

Micah groans. "That's not fucking fair, Aydenn Zachary!"

"Too bad, bro." Aydenn laughs.

Later that night, Cody and Bailey came home and they changed into their pajamas before watching a movie together and go to bed after the movie. They had a good time together, getting to know each other again after fifteen years of being apart.

It may take a while to get back to where they were, but they don't want to lean on the past for this relationship to last. They want to move on together for who they are now.

Life is never going to be the same again after their first date in so many years. They honestly don't know how this will effect Rayne, Watson, Valentina, Kyle, Savannah, and Isabella, who is only six months old now.

All they know is, that they want to be happy again.
