Chapter five

Can you dodge this

We find Naruto outside by the dock working out in sweatpants and shirtless just finishing up a set of one-handed handstand push-ups. Off to the side was what appeared to be a new intern who had fang-like tattoos on both his cheeks with some red rubber balls around him that he was filling with water.

"Hey, boss, why exactly do you want me to fill these dodge balls full of water? It seems kind of pointless if you ask me. Even if you're going to use them for training, you know golf balls would be better right?" ask the tattooed intern.

"Your clone of me. You know we are using them for a challenge as well as I do so don't ask dumb questions or would you rather be my sparring partner?" naruto ask getting in a stance as the apparent clone grabbed two of the ball and throw them at high speed at the original who dodged and grabbed the second before flinging it at a tree twice as fast to make it come back and hit the first ball forcing it back at him while the clone threw the next two at naruto's blind spot only for him to a front flip while grabbing the second set of dodgeballs and slamming them on the first set making them airborne. Only to move his head as the last ball came at him like a bullet from behind.

"This is still stupid boss no one up right now so we should do something a bit more useful ya know." the clone said as the airborne balls landed in his hands.

"Then what pray tell would be your plain oh wiseass?" asked Naruto as he looked annoyed at his clone. While draining the water out of the two balls he had while his clone did the same with his two.

"For one boss you could work some more on your book or even chakra control. We do have a scroll we got from our friends before we wound up here like baa-chan's super strength or medical knowledge, or even the gentle fist style we got from Hinata and neji. That's not even counting what all we got from you-know-what. All you've done since showing up is republish pervy-sage's books after giving ichi ichi a real plot to follow. May the perverted man rest in peace.'' The clone lectured his creator who quickly beamed him the head, dispelling him.

"Stupid clone for making since." complained naruto as he used Shadow clone jutsu to make another clone to take the dodgeballs to the court he made while he went to start breakfast.

Mess hall

Naruto was just finishing up the morning meal with the chef when the campers walked in and the gophers seemed to be rested well enough… But the bass looked dead on their feet most of all duncan. A few minutes later after they all had their food Chris walked in.

"Bass what happened to you guys? Duncan dude you look dead ``Chris asked with a smile and dark chuckle. "Harold snored all night," Courtney answered for Duncan and the rest of her team. Only to get even more cackleing from Chirs "four days without sleep. How much are you hurting dude?!"

"You want to find out!" Duncan threatened with a scolding hot glare while the rest of the bass team hid under the table.

"No, no I'm good. Oh campers look who's here! I'll give you gwen!" Chris answered till he got loud to piss off the bass even more as Gwen came in taking a seat. While the gophers clapped.

"So tired, I can't feel my face," Gwen said before planting the table.

"Well eat up campers cus today you all are going to need the energy" Chris said with a laugh

Heather turned to Lindsey and beth. "Let's go over the rules of the alliance, rule one I am captain of the alliance, rule two?..." Heather inquired

"Oh breaking a rule can get you kicked out of the alliance?" Lindsey asked for a nod from heather.

" rule three i can take anything of yours without asking but mine is strictly off limits." Heather finished

"I'm not sure about that last one." complained Beth with Lindsey nodding along.

"That's ok, I can change it… I can also change who I take to the final three with me." Heather said while glaring at them getting two head shakes. "Good, let's have some fun…. Hey fishies, way to go kicking off your strongest player! Why don't you just give us the win!" Heather glotted only for Courtney to fling some of her food at her which hit Gwen in the face after Heather stepped aside.

After everyone ate, Naruto led them to an enclosed court where they found Chris and Chef dressed as a referee.

"Okay campers today it's the time honoured school sport dodgeball. The first rule of dodgeball is….. Nobody talks about dodgeball .Chris starts only to be interrupted by Noah earning sniggers from the other campers as well as chef and naruto.

"As I was saying… The first rule is to dodge!" Chris yelled, throwing the ball and nailing Noah in his balls, knocking the air out of him and forcing him to his knees after which Geoff tossed the ball back to chris.

"The second rule is if you catch a ball the thrower is out and the catcher can bring in someone from their team" Chris said, catching the ball and then throwing it back to Geoff who caught it while Chef handed Chris another ball.

"The third rule is you can block or deflect a ball if you have one yourself but if you drop the ball you're out. Geoff, hit me if you can!" Chris explained with a cocky smirk.

"What do I do again if the ball is coming toward me?" Lindsey asked, looking around waiting for an answer while Geoff threw his ball at chris.

"You dodge!" Chris yelled as he deflected the ball at Lindsey, beaming her in the forehead hard, knocking her on her back.

"Ohhh! I love it when that happens" chuckled Chris while Naruto walked over to Lindsey to help her up.

"Since there are more gophers than bass you will have to sit two people out each game. I recogmen Gwen for a permanent spot so she can rest otherwise it will be like having a player with no energy to dodge." naruto suggested only to be ignored by the gophers

"Thanks for trying naruto. But I'll deal with it when on the court." Gwen said having watched him help Lindsey. Getting a frown and nod from the intern.

"Ok. Who is sitting the first one out with sleeping beauty here?" Heather asks, pointing her thumb at Gwen. Which got Noah to volunteer.

The game was about to begin. Looking at the two team benches we see Duncan asleep on the Bass bench. With him was Bridget, Geoff and katie. While on the gophers is a tired Gwen trying to stay awake incase she has to play and Noah who is sitting back reading a book. With them was Beth, Izzy, Justin, and Trent. On the court. Taylor,Courtney, Sadie, Dj, and Harold for the bass and the gophers had Owen, Lashawna, Lindsey, Heather, and cody… Chef blew his whistle to start the game and Cody threw his ball at Taylor who dodged. Who started to spin around and threw his ball… only to nail his teammate, Katie in the face knocking her off the bench.

"That'll smear the make-up" Chris called out with a smirk and laugh.

It was then courtney yelled at Taylor about it being a good job if he was on the other team and gave him a ball only to hear a war cry and saw Owen rushing the line with a ball in hand which he nailed taylor with at point blank range sending him flying into the wall and dropping his dodgeball. After the impact and sliding to the floor he held his gut with a withsounding. "Owwww" and the Chef blowing his whistle calling him out….

What no one heard was the watery slosh inside the ball as it slowly and wobbly rolled back to the gophers thanks to all the cheers.

It was then that Harold boasted about his mad skills and got called out by lashawna, which ended up with Harold running into the wall and getting pegged by his own ball… for those wondering how this happened lets recap a sec and look at some key facts about Harold from the bass team.

"Harold has no upper body strength. He tried to show he could beat Dj in arm wrestling and ended up doing a flip when Dj pinned his arm." Duncan said with his head shaking.

"I'll say this about harold. He's light on his feet and doesn't weigh much. When I pinned his arm he did a flip and amazingly landed on his feet. Everyone thinks it was a fluke but I was told by naruto. That when he was almost pinned and jumped in the air like he was going to do a backflip… so yeah he has some skill in balance but nothing else that i see" Dj acknowledged to the camera while scratching his head..

Dodgeball court

So on that note let's see for ourselves what happened.

"Lets see it, string bean, lets see what you got." called lashawna, as Harold got in pose with the ball on his knee held by his chest, arms out and one leg planted like a crane. He then grabbed the ball, ran to the line and of all things slammed it into the ground where it bounced a bit and rolled to the sister. Who picked it up and threw it at Harold who ran away.

"Someone tell him the game is dodgeball and not basketball please. That was sad." Naruto called out with Chris cackling and Chef nodding after blowing his whistle.

It was then that Lindsey walked forward holding a ball asking what she was supposed to do with it only to get beamed once again in the face, this time by sadie.

While the bass was cheering, Lindsey walked to her bench waving at Taylor who waved at her. Heather nailed him in the balls only to get called out by courtney. saying he wasn't playing. And heather said it slipped. Chef looked at the two then at Naruto who had a very visible frown.

"Hey naruto what your call on this i may be ref but i want your take on it." Hollard Chef as the game paused to hear what Naruto would say with Chris grumbling off to the side.

"If it happens again the one who threw will be taken from the game and will be one of the ones to be a prime candidate for voting off. Am I understanding Heather, Taylor this goes for you too since you did hit Katie when she was out..it goes for both teams, no hitting the non-players.`` Naruto ruled as he stood by Chef to make his point.

After the debacle the game resumed with Courtney trying to hit Heather only for Owen to catch it, getting her out bringing the total to four gophers and two basses.

It was then Gwen came onto the court with Owen throwing a ball at Dj who dodge and returned fire which again was dodge but hit Gwen in the side of the head who was behind owen. With Dj apologizing, Gwen waved it off saying it was cool and went back to her seat.

After Dj and Sadie double teamed Lashawna it was down to Cody for the gophers and Dj and Sadie for the bass. Getting Courtney to call easy out only for Cody to get an idea throwing his ball lightly in the air with a spin and catching it he then threw it at Dj who dodge but got hit in the ass on a bumerang like return of the ball.

"That. is. one. tough. ball. to. dodge!" called out Chris in shock.

It was then Sadie threw at Cody who dodge and grabbed a ball and proceeded to rub it on his shirt till it started to spark. And threw it at sadie who tried to dodge and run from it but it chased after her getting shocked looks from everyone beside naruto who was laughing.

"No Chris. That is a tough ball to dodge ahahaha." called out naruto between Loughs.

The score being one gophers zero bass the next game was to start in five minutes.

The two teams had a meeting with the gophers agreeing to give all their balls to Taylor and Heather trying to get Noah in the game only to have to put in Bath after Noah said he didn't want to mess up their mojo.

The next game had Katie,Sadie,Taylor,Bridget and Geoff against Lindsey,Beth,Trent,Owen,and izzy… The scary part was that Taylor had all his team's balls.

"Be ready to be a duck chef. I've got a bad feeling about this, ``Naruto told him as the chef noded and blew the whistle to start the second round.

Which true to his bad feeling Taylor started to spin and let loose the ball which proceeded to hit chef in the gut, nearly nail Chris in the face and and forced all those on the screaming gophers bean h to bail. With the last one being a strong hit to lindsey's face and knocking her out.

Running over to check on her, Naruto heard some wet swooshing sound but was more worried about Lindsey than the sound. While Courtney called out finally and Taylor hollered out no and ran to check on her as well.

"Lindsey, lindsey? Can you hear me home, many fingers am i holding up?" questioned naruto as lindsey was coming to.

"Uh nine?" answered Lindsey then started to worry about her face as Naruto got her up and helped her to the benches to rest. While Taylor told her she looked fine despite her face swelling.

"You stay there Lindsey, I'll be back with an ice pack in a second. As for you Taylor, go talk to the chef . You heard what I told Heather and you. About throwing stray balls and hitting a non-player.

While Naruto was getting an ice pack from the cooler he had set up, Trent got Taylor out.. Shaking his head Naruto handed the ice pack to Lindsey and told her to ice down whatever evers sore as she and Taylor walked off together.

Chef blew his whistle to restart the game and it was very one sided thanks in no small part to Owen losing it and. While the gophers got ready for the next round the bass was trying to decide who woke up duncan.

"You know Naruto, this challenge seems pointless. Not much drama or anything sure the bit with the weak maggot was good but this seems like it was haphazardly thrown together. Chef explained.

"Yeah I hear your chef is very sad but it's Chris that's incharge of this one. I wanted to do a deffrent kind of challenge this just seems like hes trying to torture them ensted. I'll call the producers and see if I can change or spice up the challenges. I mean this one could have had different sized balls that would make it harder and more drama" naruto said.

The next game was just about to start and the bass was able to wake up Duncan and thankfully live afterwards. Thanks to this the next two games were fast and onsided for the bass who won back to back. It was finally coming to the final game and the last ball between the big bad Owen and the..well between Owen and harold.

In a massive upset for the gophers Harold showed off he's got dodge.

" Now that right there is so much balance and awareness," Naruto laughed. With the chef nodding. With the last ball caught amazingly by harold.

With score being three to two the bass no longer have to go to the campfire.

The gophers on the other hand..well let's take a look.

"Gophers What happened?" Chris asked. "What can I say , weak effort?" said Noah, only for Gwen to tell him to shut it and Heather and the rest to agree.

Campfire

"Campers, you've already placed your votes. One of you will be going home, to leave the island forever. The marshmallows go to. Owen, Gwen, Cody, Trent, Heather, Beth, Justin, Lashawna, izzy. The final marshmallow goes to….lindsey." Chris said only to be interpreted by Noah saying they just voted the only one with any brains off the team and good luck winning.

We now find Naruto in his air stream on the phone." ok so the challenges can be changed because of budget but they can be tweaked in ways ok, yeah understood have a nice night sir.`` Naruto finished up his phone call and looked at his laptop that had all the challenges on it and started to make tweaks that he would talk to the chef about in the morning.

Next morning

We find Naruto in the mess hall with Chef Hatchet while the campers are still sleeping. "That's what the producers told me, Chef, while we can change the challenges we can tweak them. The next challenge is supposed to be a talent show with three-vs-three. How about we make it four or five since there is nine-teen campers left that will show more of their skills and boost up the drama if we do it right. The dodgeball challenge yesterday sucked and turns out one of them was filled with water from me training so I need to have those that got hit looked at."Naruto explained.

"Damn that's not good, if it was the large maggot who threw it they must be hurting. So we can tweak the challenges, lest that's some good news. Four or five could cause some drama for sure. Since I'm the judge it'll have to raise the amount needed to win…but there's not much we can change on a talent show. So let's just wing it a bit. "Chef said.

"I agree with you on that. Ill go and start making the stage you got breakfast covered?"Naruto asked…"yep we're going to have chicken soup with a side of bread with orange juice. That'll help which ever maggot's hurtin and wake them up for the day."Chef said.

"Ok i'll see you later Chef" Naruto said as he left the mess hall and headed to start the stage only to see Gwen and Bridget walking around. "Hey Naruto, how's your morning going? Me and Gwen were talking about lunch and what to vote for," Bridget said with a smile…: I'm going to build a stage for the next challenge, don't ask. Anyway, have a good morning." Naruto said while walking away only for Bridget and Gwen to follow.

: can we watch you work and keep you company? It sucks having to do all the work yourself." Bridget asked with a frown at the end…" it;s not all that bad, A hassle yeah but nothing hard work can't do. And sure you'll be able to watch but there won't be much to do." Naruto said with a smile as he pulled out his phone while leading the two to the craft shed to get some wood posts with colored tape.

Later at the mess hall

We find the rest of the campers and Chef who was serving breakfast, only for a few to complain about not enough meat, though one could see Beth was happy about the soup. Walking in after everyone had the bowls in came Naruto,Gwen, and Bridget. Who quickly got their servings while Naruto went into the kitchen to speak with Chef Hatchet privately about their plans to tweek the challenge.

Meanwhile with the campers lets see what they were up to… "I'm telling you since Naruto it dont seem all that bad here, it's not great but if what we saw at the awake-a-thon was anything he;s much better than Chris'' DJ said while enjoying his meal…: i hear that big guy, we aren't eating things that could kill us, we get are bunks decked out and have you noticed a lot of things are getting built like the bulletin board by the door it like he's catering to us but trying to get all kinds of dram out of us its unreal." dunken said while taking a bite out of his bread.

"I overheard Chef say Naruto was going to start posting personal challenges on it, and that we'd be rewarded stuff for completing them." Beth after sipping her soup broth…"I hear that girl, anything to relax is good in my book." Lashawna agreed… " though it makes you wonder what thoughts two are up to in the kitchen," Courtney added after finishing her drink.

"I'm more curious about what the next challenge is. Gwen and I walked around with Naruto watching him put down posts and wrapping the top in colored tape,"Bridget informed. Looking around at the other as they thought about it.

"What's it matter what the fool is getting ready to build, not like it changes anything, you fishies are just going to sink anyway." Heather said with a sneer and smirk at the end.

"Whatever you say miss,priss but you have to admit despite the drama we are enjoying ourselves." Lashana insulted with a smirk at the end getting a huff from Heather who turned away.

Sorry its taking so long to turn out chapter. As i said was posting the stories i write with my phone but i cant do that any more so im borrowing my nephews laptop durning the day to add to my stories and post them. But so you'll know i've not used a laptop or computer for the last 8 years so im relearning the some of the old function and learning the newer ones as well. My nephew had me install grammarly to help with the writing it self so if you see a difference that's why.
