Chapter 6

Maya started walking back to her apartment, the fresh night air hit her straight away as soon as she left the bar. Slightly staggering from how much she had drank. She took a shortcut down a back street alley, thinking nothing of it until two guys appeared out of nowhere and blocked her exit.

"Now that's not playing fair, two against one. Why don't you just turn around and go find something better to do," she taunted. Maya wasn't in the mood or in the right frame of health, seeing how drunk she really was. The tallest of the men snarled and reached behind his back reaching something from his back pocket.

The pocket knife glinted in the man's hand, the moonlight reflected the sharpness of the blade. The Small guy next to him grinned,

" Ross hurry the hell up and show her who's boss". Ross swiped the knife but Maya took two steps back and dodged him.

" This would be so much easier if you didn't move," he snarled. The shorter guy ran forward and tried to knock her down, Maya managed to punch him in the stomach but not before a sharp pain shot through her abdomen. She fell to the wet ground. Ross grabbed Maya's wallet and phone from her pocket and ran as fast as he could out the alley. Not even looking back as he pulled his accomplice with him.

Maya just laid there on the cold wet ground. The knife protruding out of her stomach. The pain was bearable but didn't help the fact she was bleeding quite severely. She slides herself against the wall trying to move as little as possible. Remembering the guys had robbed her of her belongings, the only thing to do was to try and get out of the alley and get this wound fixed. Maya stood up; gritting her teeth so hard, she pulled the knife out and dropped it on the floor. She took off her jacket and pressed it tightly to her wound. There was 2 options try and reach Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital or head home and try to stitch and bandage this back up and hope she doesn't die in the process.

She slowly walked out of the alley, the dilemma still in her head. The rain had stopped now but Maya was absolutely soaked to the bone. She knew she was losing a hell of a lot of blood and knew she had no other choice but to get across the street to the hospital. Twenty minutes it took to get on the other side of the road and what a struggle it was. Maya's eyesight was going blurry, feeling faint and nauseous; she knew she couldn't stop moving. How can the smallest pocket knife cause this much damage, she thought. At the last hurdle at the front of the hospital doors, Maya collapsed. The jacket she was holding was soaked in blood and her unconscious body lay on the floor.

" Quick get a gurney," was the last thing she heard.
