Chapter 8
Cynthia woke up at 7:00 AM in the morning as the black alarm clock rang out and wailed. She woke up, went to the bathroom, and took a short shower. She had little time to relax considering her duties as a League Champion and her studies in archeology and mythology. She changed into her familiar black coat and pants, brushed her long blonde hair, and booted up her computer and checked the list of responsibilities she had this day. She would train her team for most of the morning to be ready for tomorrow's full block of League Challenges. League administration had sent her a list of the various challengers. She did not know these people, but she knew that they would at least provide her a good battle if they made it that far.
Her phone rang at 7:30 AM while she prepared to arrive at the Champion League Chamber and train her team. Very few people knew her phone number, and those who did would never tell anyone.
Cynthia answered the phone. "This is Champion Cynthia. Speak Now."
The other person on the phone stated, "This is Tobias. I am doing very well. I have been doing analyses of various important battles that occurred recently. The magazine I write for, " I am also available to help you whenever needed. What about you? How are you doing?"
Cynthia responded, "I have had a good time the last few days. Thank you for your concerns. I will call you if there is a threat to Sinnoh that needs solving, or if I need help on studying myths and legends. For now, continue with your battle analysis papers."
"Are you available anytime soon? I would like to see you in person. I have something important that should be stated in person. Thank you, Cynthia."
"This evening, from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM I should be available."
"That would be great. I will see you at the Sinnoh League building, or should I report to one of your other properties?"
"Just report to the Sinnoh League building for now. I do not have a break to which I can go there for the next few days. Challenge days approach, after all."
"I will see you then, Cynthia."
"Likewise, Tobias. Goodbye."
Cynthia hung up the phone and walked into the Champion League chamber and started training her team members.
Cynthia finished her training at about 2:00 PM. She started perusing new files sent by Professor Sycamore concerning a legendary and its myths.
She remembered a previous conversation with him.
"Lore around Zygarde is very fragmentary. Out of all the Legendaries, it perhaps is one of the most mysterious and least understood. Actually, the entire Kalos Legendary Trio seems rather understudied in the best of times."
"Professor Sycamore, thank you. I plan on learning more about them after I catch them. If anyone can obtain the Kalos Legendary Trio for further research, it would be me. I have plenty of experience with Legendaries and Mythicals. If you wanted them for your research, you have come to the right person."
"There is the 'natural order' risk when it comes to catching the major Legendaries. In fact, a small organization led by Sina and Dexio has formed to protect them."
"I will speak with them. They might know more than I do, or at least can point me in the direction of more research. I want to know more about their interactions with older cultures as well."
"Malva of the Kalos Elite Four also had obtained some files after the collapse of Team Flare in the Flare conflict, and she did share some of them with me. I could let you see them."
"Okay. Show me the files, Professor."
"As you wish."

"The long dormancy of Yveltal via its cocoon and relatively short but very destructive activation phases makes it study difficult. As for Xerneas… it typically shuns human contact and has barely been seen other than in the Flare conflict where it did not stick around long enough for long-term study. Various myths of Kalos have described Xerneas as a life-giver, often rejuvenating destroyed areas in the ancient past of Kalos. In fact, one of its first recorded myths arose almost 2,900 years ago where ancient peoples of Kalos venerated it for bringing new life to the war-torn wastes that covered much of that region at the time.
"There is a painting of Yveltal called The Flying Disaster in a museum in Lumiose City. This painting was painted two hundred years ago. It depicts Yveltal destroying an entire town and large expanses of woodlands with its move Oblivion Wing, which drains the life force of whatever it hits and can vaporize nonliving matter easily."
"The rampages of Yveltal have been documented. The last one occurred a little over 200 years ago shortly before the production of The Flying Disaster. Yveltal did appear a few years ago, but did not rampage, and the account faces reliability concerns. The image taken was shot from a very far distance, and from that distance, confirmation may be difficult. It could just be a red smudge, or something more mundane."
"Its location is difficult to discern since the cocoon can bury itself underground if needed. Afterwards, soil forms above it, so surface search would not reveal the cocoon location. The cocoon can barely move, but it had allegedly been seen once in a cave system."

Zygarde has several forms and has been seen more than once. A second Zygarde has also been spotted in Alola at the bottom of Resolution Cave, Poni Island by scientists there. The first case of Zygarde occurred in Terminus Cave, Kalos. The main responsibility of Zygarde seemed to be the restoration of region order. It has numerous forms depending on how much matter is in them. Forms include a Core form, a 10% canine form, a 50% serpentine form, and a 100% fully powered form. All of these forms appeared in the Lumiose Crisis where they destroyed the Megalith used by Team Flare (a terrorist organization) who attempted to destroy Lumiose City and failed.
Cynthia smiled.
"This is very, very interesting."
"Did Zygarde and Yveltal play any role in the 3,000 years ago Kalos War? I should go look at more articles."
