Youmu Konpaku was doing her usual routine at Hakugyokurou.
Take care of the garden.
Listen to Lady Yuyuko's demands.
Train.
Attend to Yukari and Yuyuko in their chats.
And other things.
So it was a change of pace when a swirling green portal opened, out of it came her boy...friend, just friend...yeah...her friend Danny Phantom/Fenton.
He was in his Ghost Form with...notable changes, a black and white cape, a green glowing ring with a skull on it in his left hand and a crown surrounded lit in green fire floating above his head…
Not the weirdest thing that's happened to her, but there was the expectation that it was gonna get weirder.
"Hey Youmu, how are ya?" Said Danny in the best mood he could manage despite his seemingly tired tone.
She had the feeling he was hiding something else.
"Hey Danny, nice to see you...I didn't know you could open portals" Because it was true, she hadn't seen him being able to open portals before, it would have helped them a lot before.
"Well, I just got that ability...funny story about that" He scratched the back of his head.
Before Youmu could open her mouth, someone else did.
"Hi Danny, nice to see you around here" Came the voice of Yuyuko Saigyou floating to the scene.
"Hi...Yuyuko" Danny's voice suddenly got awkward.
"Lady Yuyuko, weren't you talking with Yukari?"
"Yes I was and she's still there...but I was surprised to see the Ghost King himself arrive here"
…
"Ghost...King?" Was all that left Youmu's shocked mouth.
"Yeah, long story short, I'm the Ghost King now" Admitted Danny.
"WHAT?!"
"You're the King Of The Ghost Zone now!?" Asked Youmu.
They were now inside the shrine alongside Yukari Yakumo, who found this amusing alongside Yuyuko.
"Well apparently I've been for years but just now became official" Muttered the newly crowned king annoyed.
"You don't seem happy about it," Said Yukari.
"It wasn't my choice really, I got forced into it"
"How did this happen?!" Asked the Confused Half-Phantom.
"Remember when I told you about Pariah Dark?"
Youmu nodded, she remembered Danny telling her about the Ghost King...or well former Ghost King apparently, about how he was freed by Plasmius and started wreaking havoc in the Ghost Zone to reinstate his tyrannical rule, forcing all Ghost into the human world and eventually bringing Amity Park to the Ghost Zone. She also knew he was defeated by Danny using the Ecto Skeleton;A special suit that increased the user power by x100. Danny used it to lock him down in his sarcophagus again, he nearly died fully that time.
Now that she recalled it, there were two objects involved in that story:The Crown of Fire and The Ring of Rage. Two objects that boost the wearer's power immensely if they can handle it, were the items belonging to Ghost Monarchy...and Danny was wearing them now.
"Well, you see...upon beating Pariah I became the next Ghost King and apparently I was proving myself worthy of the title in the following years after that, so now they decided it's time" He said with a swipe of his arms.
"And I get the feeling they didn't tell you until now," Said Yuyuko.
"Yup" Said Danny with a pop at the P.
"Ain't that dickish" Replied Yukari, a little amused.
"Yeah, it is" Danny rolled his eyes at that.
"So...you're now a king? You have to rule over the Ghost Zone?" Asked Youmu.
"Yeah, Clockwork told me he's gonna help teach me how to rule and stuff. Probably not gonna be easy but hey, I've been through worse anyways…" Danny shrugged.
"...Can I help you?" Asked the Half-Phantom.
"Huh?"
"Well, it sounds like it's gonna be hard and you will need help, you help a lot of times before so maybe I can repay the favor" Explained Youmu with a bit of a blush.
"You already helped me before...but if you want to, I don't really mind" Danny scratched the back of his head while he blushed green.
"Lady Yuyuko, is it okay if I help Danny? I still will be your servant but-"
"It's no worries Youmu, I don't mind helping your King~" She said with the same relaxed smile she usually has.
Something about the way she said it made the two incomplete specters blush even harder.
"I-it's n-not like t-that" Stuttered the swordmaster.
"Y-yeah" Danny agreed, albeit somewhat unconvincingly.
Yuyuko just giggled.
"I wonder...does this mean that Youmu will become the Ghost Queen?" Yukari wondered, mostly to mess with the two a little more.
Which it worked given they were covering their faces in awkwardness.
"Fufu, that would mean you'll be outranking me Youmu, isn't it amusing Youmu? Now you wouldn't be my servant anymore" Said The Ghost Princess, she seemed more amused than upset at the idea, probably because she knew Youmu wouldn't actually leave her.
"I-i-i need to t-take a break, Danny could you follow me?" Asked Youmu in a hurry.
"Took the words right out of my mind" The Young King followed her.
The two Half ectoplasmic Half Human beings were floating in the air quite a few meters above Hakugyokurou. Youmu's Phantom Half as well as Danny's glow and crown of fire shining bright in the night sky.
The blush and embarrassment from before is still present in them, they were never good at dealing with teasing, especially like that.
Youmu did feel extra embarrassed because she didn't think what they said was a bad thing to happen, though she wasn't sure what Danny would think.
Danny meanwhile was having similar conflicting thoughts, the idea didn't actually bother him too much but he didn't want to burden Youmu with it. It was hard to accept his parents, Jazz, Sam, Tucker and Danielle pitching in a little in the first place, much less what Youmu seemed to have in mind.
"I'm sorry for what Lady Yuyuko and Yukari were talking about before" The girl apologized.
"Don't sweat it, it wasn't your fault" Danny said absentmindedly.
"Maybe…" She rubbed her arm in secondhand shame.
The two went silent after that, just floating in tranquility in the night sky.
"...Do you still accept?" Asked Youmu.
"Huh?"
"My offer, do you still accept my help?"
"Well...are you sure you want this?" Asked Danny.
"Yes, I'm absolutely sure of it," Youmu said with determination.
"...Well, if it is your wish…do you want to be my Q-Knight, I mean Knight" He catches himself before he screws up.
"Sure! I don't mind!" She said a bit excitedly, though a small part of her that will never see the light of day felt bad he didn't say queen.
"Just so you know, you can still spend all the time with Yuyuko and Gensokyo that you want, I don't think your presence will be necessary unless it's for important events"
"Thank you! It's a nice sentiment" She said, her Phantom Half was doing circles around her in excitement.
Danny scratched the back of his neck. "Well, normally the process to be knighted is a more elaborate one, but since I'm the King I decide for something more simple…" He stretched his hand to her.
Without hesitation Youmu stretched her hand...as well as her Phantom Half, currently changed shape in order to look like Youmu, she held it with both her hands.
"I promise I'll be the best knight I can be…"
"Don't worry, I know you and i'll know you'll do amazing…"
And who knows, maybe she'll be Ghost Queen one day.
Established crossover like my last one, takes place after Touhou 18 and D-Stabilized with no Phantom Planet, takes place a few years after DP Season 3.
Also this ship works great with Ghost King Danny.
