Since the day Sonic...Super Sonic...Iblis...bah, it doesn't matter, he rarely ever bothered with names anymore...being just a destructive force of nature was good by him.

Anyways, ever since he has been born all that happened was getting crap thrown at his face.

He didn't care how whiny that sounded, it was the truth and that's that, everytime something good happened to him it just turned into another one of life's annoyances down the line.

He remembered oh so long ago when he was just a child, unfused quills, brown fur, cyan eyes...he didn't even had his characteristic power sneakers, he didn't at all looked the part like the demon that made Mobius a living hell, didn't had the power to do so either.

He remembered oh so long ago how weak he was, he scoffed at the thought.

The darkness that all but consumed him by now was still there though, in it's baby stages, it would eventually bloom into something that would affect everything else.

He had been compared to a tumor, a cancer to this world by people he once called friends. He embraced those labels out of sheer spite.

Back then, he was always frowning or scowling. Only had two friends back then, people who he used to consider very dear to him…

He would bring about their end, in two separate events...it was something that would repeat with nearly everyone he met.

He never knew his biological parents, either abandoned him at birth or died when he was very young...maybe he had murdered them himself at one point. He had no attachment to them aside from questions he wanted to ask them, but didn't matter at this point.

Adults avoided him like the plague, labeled him as a problem child and he didn't really care of disproving those claims, he didn't need them anyways.

He just lived an aimless life, fitting of a young orphan child, and had no particular goal aside from just running around.

And then he met him...Dr. Ovi Kintobor, later known as Dr. Ivo Robotnik.

It's amazing how two people could cause each other so much pain and suffering in their long history together.

He was a human back then, he didn't know if he could be considered human as time went on...he still resembled one after what came next but had unsettling characteristics that belonged to a demon instead, especially his black and red eyes. At the time of his death he was just a blubbering buffoon whose brain was hooked up to a supercomputer to regain his former glory and had full control over his deadly machinery.

Of course he wasn't judging, he was a Hedgehog back then, eventually he didn't feel right considering himself one, he had the shape of one but was more like the king of the devil's himself (AKA Iblis).

Both of them became the same thing, an abomination of Chaos itself, even his weaker blue self was heavily formed by Chaos and became even more so over time.

But returning to their first meeting, it was the typical fare of meeting something you didn't understand...at least for himself, the doctor was jovial about it, probably had something to do with being a scientist.

Eventually the shock wore off and they became pretty close, the doctor became the closest thing he ever had to a father, amazing what he would do to such a precious person down the line.

The doctor presented him with various inventions, things that he would use in the future, things he would destroy and even sentient creations that are no longer with him, the Omni-Viewer and Shadow being the most prominent ones.

All by his hand.

He even talked about his Magnum Opus:The Retro Orbital Chaos Compressor, a machine designed to get rid of evil on the entire planet.

Ironically it ended up setting up a chain of events that led to the Evil becoming so strong it practically destroyed the planet, probably beyond repair if you asked him.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions they say.

But to be fair with themselves, even if it had gone well the world would have still ended, only instead of a fire wasteland is a cyber empire where every living being has died and Robots made at his likeness ruled.

He chuckled to himself, either way Mobius was doomed, a Morton's Fork basically…all that changed is who did the deed.

What a waste of time trying to save it was.

They helped each other mutually, he would help gather the world's evil and find the Chaos Emeralds while the doctor supplied him with friction resistant shoes, shoes he still wears to this day...and a way to increase his speed.

The result was him getting what at the time was his defining characteristics:His blue fur, fused quills and trademark speed. Thrown in the aforementioned shoes, his white gloves and eventually his green eyes and the quintessential Sonic The Hedgehog look was there.

He could still make himself look like that if he so wished, nobody would recognize him since he was un-person from history...but he didn't really care.

After failing to encounter the control emerald, the two decided to go on with the experiment, unaware what fate and himself from the future in a way to foolishly delay this planet destruction had in store for them.

One rotten egg left in the fridge, a trip up made by his future self and suddenly the second biggest evil in Mobius behind him was born.

He was distraught that his father ended up that way, but shoved it down and fought him, because he was going against everything he stood for and he couldn't let that slide, he wasn't in control of himself.

He fought, fought and fought, conflict practically defined his life from them on. Even all the way up to now he was still doing it, albeit the difficulty had drastically decreased, everyone is just worms to him now.

After foiling the Corrupted Doctor once and gathering the Emeralds before him...it happened.

The second event that practically defined him and his future from then on, a curse who no one else would be able to bear, the creation of what would be his current look and his role as the world ender.

The birth of Super Sonic or Iblis.

It was strange looking back, how he used to believe they were two different people when the truth was there never was such a person as Super Sonic...or if you look at it in a certain way, there never was such a person as Sonic.

Because he had to be born from something, he couldn't just be born from the evil the emeralds held at the time, they just enhanced what was already there. He switched between referring to himself (either as Sonic or Super Sonic) as either a different person or the same back then, his body was at different wavelengths causing the so-called split. Nowadays that does not exist, Sonic and Super Sonic are now one, one singular force of death.

Lookin at it like that, Iblis could be considered a fitting name for his current self, even if it's just a name others stuck him with and he adopted.

But back to his memories, back then he couldn't remember what he did when he switched from Blue to Golden...or could sometimes, it's screwy. Nowadays his memories are just one concise path up till he was split in half and then rejoined.

His first rampage, a casual happy walk in the park compared to his usual fare of destruction. Landed him into meeting another person he cared for a lot.

Tails.

To this day, he had fond memories of the two tailed kid, he's probably the only person he killed he thinks positive of, almost regrets Killing him...alas, doing it was an act of mercy, he didn't want him to spend his life fighting him, he didn't want the kid to go through the same path he once did.

Of worthless heroism.

Back then he treated the kid quite harshly, part was because he wasn't the smartest tool in the shed and he annoyed him, part was his idea of jokes, part was his own way to make him strong to face all the danger that came at him.

But it wasn't limited to him really, he was quite harsh on everyone, a real jerk, he knew he was one…

But it wasn't something that was just born out of nowhere, he didn't have the happiest life, had the weight of the entire world in his shoulders because his friends were nearly useless, had to deal with his demon, had to fight his former friends...in short it was a bunch of crap that he had to shoulder on that kept piling on and he didn't want to do it with a smile.

Then there was that day Omni-Viewer was forced to send them 6 months into the future, causing the world to be defenseless for Robotnik to take over, ending up starting a war that took years to finish...a grueling duel to free Mobius.

He met many people along the way...people he once considered friends before it ended up in disaster with them turning into his enemies, enemies he crushed into bloody pulps.

Except a few...that Red Echidna was still breathing, probably.

Among them the one that stood out was Amy Rose, a girl that claimed she loved him and was the love of his life...she ended up hating him more than anything in the world,, the feeling was mutual.

He truly enjoyed ending her life.

Anyways, after a lot of crazy adventures and lots of fighting, Robotnik was toppled thanks to both sides of him that had been split beforehand, one created an electromagnetic pulse that shut down all computers in the planet and the other side did everything else.

He was so happy back then, probably one of the only times he had been truly happy...it didn't last.

He got bored afterwards, he had only known conflict his entire life and now he didn't know how to live a life without it. He helped Mobius get back on its feet, put a new system so nobody could rule over all of it and...that was that.

He was bored until Robonik came back.

Then it was back to his usual routine, destroying badniks and beating the crazy doctor just like in days of old…

Only this time he also had to deal with another enemy he downright despised:The Drakon Empire, a race of intelligent fish people who had as much of a hand in shaping him to the person he is now.

He fought them as well, had to deal with things like trials of combat to prove his innocence, dealing with Robotnik gaining god-like power, adventures in another world, Robotnik going absolute crazy and trying to destroy everything...and eventually, Chaos and the death of Johnny Lightfoot.

It was truly a new experience for him, the death of someone he cared for a lot, never before in his long tenure as a Freedom Fighter had he actually lost someone...and he couldn't handle it.

It's funny looking back now, he blamed himself for a death he was indirectly responsible for to the point of quitting….nowadays he caused death whenever he went without guilt.

Even funnier, back before he split himself in two, he had believed he killed his friends, his demon side erupted with laughter while his hedgehog side despaired over it, he had different reactions when he did it for real.

But a part of him was glad Johnny was dead, he died not seeing the worst of what's to come, he died in a time when Mobius was peaceful.

He died not seeing what he would become.

And eventually he came back from his retirement, traveled back in time, fought the drakons with the echidna's of the past, witnessed the birth of Chaos, traveled back to his own time, defeated Chaos and then both sides of him rejoined at last.

His other side had been amnesiac for a while, regained his memories but refused the power in fear of going crazy…ah, what a fool, denying his very nature, rejected something that formed part of his very being...no wonder it would have turned badly no matter what.

A part of him missed Ebony and Pyjamas, he wondered what had happened to Ebony, he knew he killed Pyjamas but the Magician Black Cat disappeared from his life completely once the order of magik captured her.

He had to thank her though, it was in part thanks to her he reached this point.

But regardless of all that, once the ordeal of chaos was finished, it seemed that things were peaceful for a time...little did he know the worst had started.

After some adventures, he had to face the syndicate, a group of lunatic amoral assholes who most of them wanted to see Mobius destroyed. One of them was his dark reflection:Shadow The Hedgehog.

He was a creation of Kintobor, who he was loyal to even when he was the demented Robotnik and blamed him for turning him that way...not that he didn't feel guilty about it.

Both of them had chosen to spit on Kintobor's wishes at the end, he managed what he stopped Shadow from doing in the first place.

Then, the last event that truly defined his path happened.

His defamation in the media and him being framed as a fugitive.

He grit his teeths in anger upon recalling it, all that effort to help them, save them, to make this planet a peaceful place...and everyone still turned on him.

He had made mistakes, but were they something that made him deserve what happened to him...no!

Was him being a jerk something that made him deserve this? Not like any of them cared, it's not like he hid the awful parts of his personality...everyone found him cool back then.

And a lot of people didn't have room to talk, they were assholes too...yet he's the one labeled as one only.

He spent all his time running around, trying to help them from the shadows...he should have left when he had the chance!

But no, he was a moron that stayed behind and tried to help them until the stress piled up and his Sanity was leaving him bit by bit.

Until one day...he exploded.

All the stress, rage, Bitterness and Despair he had to endure in his whole life was unleashed in a beautiful explosion that's ravaging this planet even after 70 years.

Sometimes he felt sick of himself, of what he became, disgusted to the point he threw up the bile in his stomach.

But most of the time...he was happy.

He no longer had to fear of watching his back because nobody could do anything to him anymore, he felt for the first time he had control of his life and how he wanted to live it, no longer was he burdened by right or wrong when he could just do what he wanted...he didn't have to hold back his true feelings anymore.

He looked at himself in the mirror.

He admired his blazing gold spikes, then his worn power sneaker, his worn gloves and finally to his ruby red spiral eyes.

Spirals of Despair and Bitterness.

He was smiling, he was happy in what could be considered the first time in his existence.

Because he determined his own path, his future, his life.

He drew enjoyment from causing suffering to people that had caused suffering on him for so long, he enjoyed crushing their skulls, ripping them apart, reducing them to bloody smears or just vaporizing them.

So the King Of Devils laid on his throne of corpses, admiring the burning inhospitable kingdom he purposely lit aflame.

With his head high, Iblis walked away from the mirror in satisfaction.
