A/N I know its taking me a bit to get this 3rd chapter out, but here it is! Hopefully everyone likes it! I'm going to try to write a few more chapters tonight just so I can post them in a week or so and it's not such a long wait next time! Enjoy! Let me know what you think!
BAM!
"PAIGE!" Alex screamed, tears rolling down her cheeks. Her scream echoed throughout the entire gymnasium. She ran to her girlfriend who had now collapsed onto the floor. "No, no, no, no, NO!" Alex screamed again as she finally reached Paige. Blood was already soaking through her gray flowing tank top. "Paige it's going to be okay. I got you. I got you. I promise." She grabbed Paige's cheeks, looked her in the eye and kissed her forehead. "I love you," Alex whimpered, trying to hold back her tears. She began to apply pressure to the wound on Paige's stomach. The blood flowed through Alex's fingers "Why did you shoot her!" Alex screamed at Rick who was frozen at the other side of the gym. "She didn't do anything!"
"You did this! You caused all of this! This is your fault!" Rick screamed back. He started pacing and shaking the gun in his hand.
Alex shook her head, trying to keep herself from crying. She looked at Paige, who was getting more and more pale. "I got you, Paige. Keep your eyes open! You need to keep them open!" The tears ran down her cheeks and she couldn't stop them this time. Alex closed her eyes tightly trying to get the tears to stop. She felt a hand on her arm and quickly opened her eyes. It was Paige. She was brushing her thumb across Alex's arm. Something she always did to calm her. Paige and Alex stared into each other's eyes, staying completely silent. Paige reached up her hand and caressed Alex's cheek. With the little energy she had, she pulled Alex closer and kissed her. It wasn't like their other kisses. It was smooth and Paige's lips were cold, but it was still different. It was almost as if the whole world had vanished and it was only the two of them. Alex and Paige's tears rolled down their cheeks as they continued to kiss. They never wanted this moment to end. They slowly pull away from each other. Alex kept her eyes shut to savor every last memory and taste of that kiss.
BANG!
Alex jerked her head up and immediately looked around trying to find out where that noise had come from. She focused on Rick, who was just as confused as she was. Rick seemed scared. He was still pacing, but his head was up and his eyes were alert. He quickly looked at every entrance to the gym and was most likely making sure no one was coming in. Alex turned her attention back to Paige.
"I'm going to get you out of here, okay Paige? I got you." Alex said once more checking over her shoulder to keep an eye on Rick. "They'll be here soon. Help will be here soon. I promise," Alex looked at Paige once more, but this time Paige wasn't looking back at her. Her soft hazel eyes were closed, her hand was cold and limp. Alex pushed her hands onto the wound more. "Paige. Paige. Paige! You have to open your eyes. You have to kee—" Alex's voice cracked. She began to break down. Her breathing started to become more and more rapid. Tears were plunging from her brown eyes immensely. She could barely see Paige through the mess of her crying.
BANG!
Alex jerked her head up again. This time she wasn't able to see as clearly. She turned around to see Rick running over to her. The gun was still shaking in his hand.
"Get up!" He whispered aggressively at Alex. He pointed the gun at her forehead. She turned away and looked back at her girlfriend. "Get UP!" He said once more, but raising his voice a little higher.
"No. I'm not leaving her," Alex stated softly, staying focused on Paige. Rick grabbed Alex by her brown tank top and started dragging her towards the exit of the gym. "NO! Rick stop!" Alex screamed. She tried to push him, kick him, hit him, anything to make him stop. "I can't leave her. I can't leave," Alex's screams faded out as they exited the gym. She kept her eyes on Paige until she could no longer see her. Tears fell from her eyes and she whispered to herself, "I love you Paige."
