Summary: Asuka has been going back in time over and over again trying to change the course of events, but the more times she failed the more she changed…. (AU) (Shinji x Asuka).

Wife of Obsession

Asuka appeared to be calm on the outside to anyone who might have seen the girl on the deck, but inside she was trembling with excitement.

He was coming!

Her boyfriend! Her lover! Her husband!

…Her Obsession.

Her Shinji Ikari.

At first, she really hated him. Instrumentality had shown her everything about him and she was not in the proper state of mind to analyze what she had learned. The nightmares and visions of what had happened in that rotten timeline fueled the fire of her anger and hatred towards Shinji.

When Third Impact happened again Asuka was surprised with a change that she did not expect. When she was comatose expected a repeat of what happened in the first timeline, instead Shinji was too afraid of her to even be alone with her unconscious body that was in the hospital room. The fear she could understand, but Instrumentality revealed that despite everything Shinji had fallen in love with her.

In. Love. With. Her!

Out of all of the girls he could have fall for, of all of girls to love, he fell for angry and abusive Asuka. The things that she did to him were so terrible that she felt like she earned the red devil nickname the two stooges gave her. She thought that it was fear alone that the boy did not do anything about it! Why did he fall in love with a girl that was nothing but abusive toward him? Was he a masochist?

She knew the answer. They were the same. They were soul mates. They were both figuratively two halves of the same soul shoved into two separate bodies of a boy and a girl. Their experiences were so similar that it is not a stretch to say that they experienced the same things. Of course, there were differences in their personalities, how they interpreted and handled things that lead to disastrous misunderstandings.

So, the third time around she decided to do things differently. She would study and analyze what she learned about her Shinji. Everything big and small that was what made up the male EVA pilot would download into her mind.

The following impacts where like experiment runs for the red head and she found out how to mold her Shinji, help him grow, to change him into a better version of himself. Eventually she formulated her own perfect scenario that will end things as she desired.

Her obsessive observation had led her to find out that Rei was a clone of Shinji's mother and lead her to formulate a theory why he was drawn to her. His subconscious recognized the similarities between Rei his mother even though he cannot remember what his mom looked like.

Asuka endeavored to quickly inform the two of their family relations so as to help build a better friendship with them and help the two form a strong sibling relationship. It would make it easier for her to get her Shinji if she turned Rei from possible rival to helpful sister that approved of her.

The two stooges would always find some way to annoy her so there would be no change there, she would be in better relations with Misato since their adoptive mother figure would see her treating Shinji nicely. Kaji would be relieve that she would no longer harbor an unrealistic crush on him, but she would try get him to build an adoptive father son relationship similar to what her Shinji had with Misato. Hikari was always her best friend so going out with Shinji just add more girl talk between them.

Now with knowledge of future events and understanding of her true love she will push forward claim that happy life with him! The two suffered so much they deserve to live together in happiness and love! She will destroy all that gets in her way!

When Asuka saw that they had arrived she grinned to herself.

It's time to enact her perfect scenario!

I hope this Fanfic is okay, I have not been typing much of anything lately.

There were two Fanfics that I read that contributed to me spawning this deranged rambling: The One In Your Life by TalonEmpire and History Rhymes In Love by BeyondtheDarkside101. There are a good number of Eva Fanfics which time travel but these two explore a darker aspect of it where in true Evangelion fashion everything goes bad before it gets good if it ever gets good. After reading these Fanfics I was wondering if something similar would happen to Asuka and if so, what would lead to this path of insanity.

I have watch some of Eva, but not the whole season. I filled the gaps with wiki information and other things I found on the internet like comments of videos commenting on Eva. While I like the happier and more lighthearted Fanfics more, some of the darker Fanfics like Scar Tissue by deathbringer374 are really good too.

Some Post Third Impact Fanfics have Asuka either forgiving Shinji due to events being out of his control mixed with mental decline into insanity or hating him with Shinji having to struggle to reconcile with her (I am not sure if there are as many of these Fanfics though as Scar Tissue is the only one I can think of that has been completed).

I also remember a funny crack Fanfic where a yandere Asuka kills everyone but Shinji only to find out that in that Shinji was gay, unfortunately I cannot remember what the name of the Fanfic even is. In fact if there is anyone that actually read this than I would like to see others takes on a yandere Asuka obsessed with Shinji. Maybe that should be a challenge, yandere AsuShin challenge.

I have not seen the infamous hospital scene and I do not condone it as that is a messed-up thing to do. I am of the opinion that Shinji would not have done that if his mind was in any better shape as the events leading up to it wore down his sanity and broke him. So while I do not condone what he did I am willing to write it off as not mentally fit to make any decision at the time.

Another thing to add is that sometimes writers will forever reason made decisions that for whatever reason will make a good character do something dumb and out of character and the hospital scene is one of the things that I think happened with Shinji when the end of the series was created. Seriously man, you could not find a better way get you point across that did not involve That?

I can keep on going on forever but I will end it here on my ramblings and will start doing my useless shout outs. I know my shout outs probably amount to nothing but I like to do them as a way of showing appreciation to the authors that I list in the shout outs.
