Wife of Obsession: School Time Observations

Hikari Horaki was a romantic at heart. Then again it could be because she had a massive crush on Toji for some time now. When Asuka came into the class as the new transfer student Hikari was hoping to befriend the foreign girl. She was glad to find out that the German redhead had taken a liking to her. While she was glad that she had a new friend, she was hoping that the foreign beauty would not become competition for Toji's heart. That was put to rest when she saw that her new friend had a crush on Shinji. It was so cute! Hikari could not help but admire how bold Asuka was with pursuing her crush.

Like the time she implied that she was Shinji's wife in her introduction.

Or the time Asuka decided to sit in Shinji's lap for the entire class and then proceeded to fall asleep on top of the blushing boy.

The one-time Asuka cared Shinji into class caused the whole school to go in an uproar.

Or even…. Hand holding! They would hold hands! That was so adorable!

Everyone in the school could see that the new Eva pilot has a crush on the only male pilot. Some of the girls were jealous of the new girl and the boys were split between weather to envy or pity Shinji for being the object of the girl's affections. She of course was glad that the two were getting romantic. The pity came mostly from Kensuke, Toji, and other boys that suffered the wrath of the new transfer student.

Shinji was obviously positively affected by Asuka coming into his life, the boy was beaming whenever the girl was with him. It was nice to see the shy and withdrawn boy coming out of his shell.

Now if only she could snag Toji then everything will be perfect. Maybe she should follow Asuka's lead? Get some advice from the German Eva pilot? Hikari had much to think about.

To say that Shinji was nervous and afraid when an angel attacked was an understatement. He so desperately wanted to run away whenever he heard that those giant behemoths were coming. All piloting the Eva ever brought him was pain, but he would be useless and alone if he did not pilot the Eva. Sure, he made friends, but he always had that nagging feeling in the back of his mind that the only reason that people bothered with him was because of Unit 01.

Then Asuka came into his live like an angel descending from the heavens, one that didn't scare him! She was patient and understanding with him. She would help him with his homework and whatever other problems that he had. She would help him with the cooking and the domestic chores around home. When they were done, she would hang out with the boy and they would enjoy themselves.

There were times when she would tease him, but her teasing was not as bad as Misato's teasing. For some reason he actually liked it when Asuka would tease him a bit. He wasn't alone when Misato and Kaji were both out of the apartment.

Shinji frowned when he thought about how Asuka didn't get alone with his two male friends. Toji said that her reaction to them laughing when he was in her plug suit was a swift kick to the balls. Kensuke would go on about how she threw his camera out into the ocean and that he could not replace it due to how expensive it was.

Apparently, Kensuke decided to use an old camera of his to stealthily take pictures of the girls and sell them to some of the guys in the school. Unfortunately for Kensuke and Toji, Asuka knew about this, and he will never forget the confrontation that took place inside of the classroom.

Flashback

"Hello! I'm Asuka Langley Sohryu Ikari! Charmed huh?" Adding Shinji's last name was no mistake on her part, that was for sure.

The reaction of everyone in class was full on hysteria. Shinji was married! And to such a foreign beauty! The only one that did not show any reaction was Rei, but she made a mental note to look into marriages later. If only they knew what kind of chaos would be unleashed in the near future, then they would have prevented her from pursuing her curiosity.

"Shin-man is married to the red devil!" Toji yelled in disbelief.

"Shinji! Whatever deal you made with her is not worth selling your soul to the demon!" Kensuke was hysterical, she was going to take their buddy away from them!

"G-Guys, Asuka is not bad, you guys just got off on the wrong foot. Please stop calling her red devil and demon." Shinji's subconscious defense of Asuka just added fuel to the fire, especially since the boy didn't give any sort of response to being married to Asuka. One student proclaimed that it was the end of the world and jumped out of the window. Of course no one paid attention to the mad man because he was a side character that had no name…. Shinji did feel bad for him though.

Hikari looked exasperated at all that was happening around her, why was her class full of crazy people. The only ones that looked like they were of sound mind were Ayanami, Shinji, Toji, and herself. It was still too early to see if Auska would prove herself to be a crazy person. She did not know what to make of this situation, so she decided to wait a bit and get to know Asuka better.

Before anyone could say anything Asuka had whispered something into Kensuke's ears that caused him to pale and give up his seat. The fact that Kensuke sat next to Shinji add to the idea that the was something going on between the two pilots. Toji looked like he wanted to say something, but Kensuke whispered something into Toji's ear that caused him to have the same reaction as the Eva enthusiast.

Unbeknownst to everyone in class, Shinji had heard the entire exchange between the three of them. How he was able to hear them whispering he did not know. The conversation went like this:

"If you don't want all of the girls to know that you take perverted pictures of them to sell during lunch then you will give up your seat to me so that I can sit next to Shinji for the rest of school."

Kensuke really wanted to know how she found out, but with how frightening her glare was the boy decided to just run for it. Kensuke saw that Toji was about to stick up for him and he could not let that happen. "She knows about our business." Toji went white in no time flat and decided to keep his mouth shut for both their sakes.

Flashback End

Shinji wished that his friends would get along, but it looks like that he had to be happy with what he got. The years of loneliness had taught him to be happy with what little good things he had going for him. Asuka looked like she was enjoying all of the attention that was drawn to her and he was glad that no one was having any negative reactions to her being an Eva pilot. Shinji was afraid that the female pilot's popularity would cause her to grow bored with him and stop being with him. Especially with all of the guys that wanted Asuka's attention.

Flashback

"Wow Asuka, you are very popular." Shinji was surprised at the huge amount of love letters that were stuffed into Asuka's locker. The girl the letters were addressed to however looked like she wanted to burn the letters. "More like a bunch of perverts trying to get into my pants! I swear if I anymore of these morons try to make any moves on me, I will start castrating them painfully!"

The darkness that was emanating out of Asuka was tangible enough to cause Shinji to take a few steps back. Shinji would have had a very clumsy if not for someone catching him before he fell. When he got over the shock, he found himself staring into Asuka's beautiful eyes.

"Are you okay Shinji?" Asuka sounded extremely worried.

"Y-Yes"

"I am going to take you to class, sit down for a while so that way you can relax and recover."

Apparently when Shinji fell Asuka had decided that she should carry the boy bride style all the way to his classroom seat so that he would not hurt himself. He was so caught up in his whirlwind of emotions for the red-haired girl that he did not notice anything until Toji and Kensuke started to interrogate him when the girl was out of the area.

Shinji did not see the nameless side character during all of this…. Poor guy.

Flashback End

Shinji would still blush every time he recalled that event. For some unknown reason, all of the boys that gave her love letters came down with a mysterious case of a cold that while not anything serious, left them too exhausted to do anything. I came out to be come new species of the common cold that left doctors baffled for reasons that he needed Asuka to explain it for him to understand. Rumor spread and it became know that if a boy tried to ask Asuka out she will curse you with dark magic. Shinji found those rumors ridiculous. Asuka was one of the nicest people he knew! Asuka even stay with him in class to make sure he was alright even though bringing him to his seat caused them to miss their change to introduce her to Rei.

Asuka invoked some very unfamiliar feelings in the Eva pilot that he never felt for anyone. The feelings were not bad, they actually felt good. If Shinji had to guess it would be that he was falling in love with his female roommate. Shinji could go on and on about Asuka, but the fear of rejection prevented him from saying anything. What if she said no? Then their friendship will be destroyed, and she will not want to be with him again.

Then Shinji was flooded with thoughts that went against his pessimistic thinking. Asuka being kind and understanding with him. Being patient and never getting mad at him. All of this concluded Shinji said his final thought on the matter out loud for no one to hear him.

"Asuka will not abandon me like the commander."

I think I do not have to tell you where Asuka's manipulations are working their magic. Thank you for all of your support and reviews, it makes me feel glad that my amateur attempted at a Fanfic like this is enjoyable to some of the people reading this. Thanks to the reviewer that goes by Guest. That reviewer not only gives input and suggestions, but he also gives examples and ideas to go off of.

I was originally going to do Rei's POV in this one too, but I did not like the direction that I went with it, so I decided to save it for later. I am using comedy and light heartedness to hide the darkness lurking within people's views, or at least that is what I am going for. Just wanted to let readers know that I did not forget that I flagged this with Horror in it. Will this have a happy ending? Kind of…? It depends on what your reaction to the ending is. At the end of it, Asuka went off the deep end before the story started. So even if she broke the cycle and lived with Shinji the rest of her life, would it be a true happy ending or something wrong that is parading itself as a happy ending? Or would Asuka be discovered and thrown into the nuthouse at the end? I got an idea on how I want this to end, but it is always subject to change.

Shinji feels bad for a nameless side character because of course he does, he is Shinji. What kind of chaos will Rei unleash? Will Hikari fall to the dark side? Will Shinji figure out what everyone else already did and discover that Asuka likes him way more than a friend? Stay tuned and find out!
