CH 9. Dumbass Falls

To say that the car ride was eventful would be an understatement. It was kind of a mess. First, she realised that she had left her phone in her room when they had already passed her street. She had brought her headphones but had forgotten her mobile and iPod. Who even does that.After an argument that lasted for about 10 minutes, Damon finally agreed to turn the car back around.

When she grabbed her phone and was about to rush back to his car, she noticed that she hadn't even bandaged up the open wound on her neck which was an unwarranted gift from Damon. Quickly she yanked the first aid box out and had started to disinfect the injury while Damon who was waiting outside was busy honking the entire time, successful in irritating the hell out of her. Pretty sure he had disrupted the entire neighbourhood.

Eventually, getting annoyed at his ridiculousness, she opened her window and screamed at him to shut the hell up, she was coming. That seemed to have shut him up for a few minutes only for him to honk more louder, if the was even possible.

When they finally got going, another argument broke out between them with Damon saying that she should have just covered the bite wound with a scarf and Caroline telling him to fuck off, running out of all her remaining patience.

When the disagreements died out, Damon decided to spend the rest of the ride shamelessly flirting with her. And it was one of the most absurd thing she has witnessed to date. Like wasn't he the one who literally made a snack out of her last night and even tried to munch on her this morning. And wasn't he the one who was literally yelling out death threats just a few minutes ago? Talk about confusing.

And when they finally reached her destination, Damon leaned in to kiss her. Caroline not getting the memo panicked and kissed him on his cheeks, dodging his lips completely, hastily rushing out of his car, trying her very best to avoid eye contact.

When she turned around and noticed the questioning stares she was getting from Elena and Bonnie and the curious gazes for the rest of the cheer squad, she realised that he was just trying to put on a show. But whatever the reason was no way in hell was she just going to just randomly let him kiss her (it didn't matter how attractive he was).

Playing her part, Caroline send a suggestive smirk in her friends direction and moved to the benches to place her bag. Spinning around, she noticed that Damon was still there, looking like a freaking model. And did she mention he was totally was giving Elena bedroom eyes.

Ah, it looks like Elena is the new Bella of Mystic Falls. She knows that she needs to stop referring to Twilight every chance she go. But what could she even do, her life nowadays felt like a scene from twilight minus the extremely hot but equally creepy men being in love with her. That and she was kinda obsessed with the Twilight Saga until recently. The movie did partially ruined it for her and the fact that it was completely different from reality complete ended her infatuation. Nevertheless, no one could stop her from mentioning it now and then.

At last, Damon ended the weird staring contest he was having with Elena and looked away eyes searching for something, eventually his eyes landing on Caroline. He smirked and had the damn audacity to wink at her earning a scowl in return. After he finally turned around to leave, she let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

The rest of the day was kind of a blur from her asking Elena to sit out the practice cause she was absolutely butchering the whole routine and getting a disappointed look in return from Bonnie. Even so, she didn't care because she needed the routine to be perfect for them to even have the slightest chance of getting into the states.

Later she got bombarded with questions about Damon and a few here and there about the bandage on her neck. Her answers getting a suspicious look from Stefan (he was definitely on to her).

Now she was sitting wearing a blue sundress which had changed into, in her favourite stop under the huge oak tree outside her school where most of the kids hang out, catching up on the work she missed this morning. Just when she was about to close her books, her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, a huge smile broke out on her face.

"Hey JJ, someone had an early start", Caroline teased.

"My head feels like it's about to burst. I feel like going to die", Jacob groaned.

"And they say that I'm a drama queen", she said poking fun at him.

"Glad to see you find my misery amusing", he replied annoyed his voice cracking at the end from his hangover.

"Yup, it's pretty funny", she joked

"Care", JJ whined.

"Okay okay, I'll stop", she said with a chuckle. "I take that Liam is still anger".

"Yeah, he didn't even bother to wake me up today before leaving", he answered with a grim mood. "And on top of that, I am grounded for the whole month".

"Aww too bad. Shouldn't have raided his liquors stash, huh?", Caroline teased once again know pretty well about what was coming next.

"Can you talk to him?", he asked nervously. "You know he always agrees with you".

"Ah, and here I thought you missed me", Caroline said with a fake sad tone.

"You know that I always miss you but I can't be on house arrest for so long. I have places to go, friends to meet", Jacob retorted.

"Oh really, which friends?", She challenged.

"I have friends other than you guys", He replied offended by her question.

Caroline giggled before asking, "Name one"

"The guy I have English with, Jo... John no James", he answered back with a high pitched voice.

"Okay, what's his full name", she inquired.

"Ja...ja...James", he reacted quickly.

"So his full name is James James. Wow, I totally believed you", she replied trying her very best to control her laughter.

"I do have other friends okay. The new guy Scott seems cool. And he's kind of my friend so", he retorted feeling a tiny bit embarrassed.

As Jacob went on and on about having friends, Caroline took the opportunity to take a look around her. She saw Matt and Tyler playing catch not too far from her. She noticed them glancing at something. Following their gazes, she saw Elena and Stefan walking together fully engrossed in whatever conversation they were having. Just then, Tyler threw the ball straight toward Stefan and it would have hit him right in the head if he hadn't turned around in supernatural speed and catching it in the nick of time.

"What the fuck?!", Caroline yelled. "Did no one find anything abnormal with that? He literally turned around at lightning speed", she squealed. "Is everyone blind or just too dumb to notice", she muttered noticing everyone either laughing it off or getting impressed.

"Hey Care is everything okay?", Jacob voiced out through the phone not catching everything she said, breaking her out of the trance she was in.

"Yeah listen I will talk to you later I need to get back to class and don't worry, I will talk to Liam about reducing your punishment", she assured him.

"Thanks", he acknowledged grateful for her help.

"No problem, also a quick disclaimer, I would avoid Jess for a week or so till she cools down", she disclosed.

"Why?", Jacob asked confused with what she meant.

"Well you did colour her hair pink", she revealed slightly snickering.

"Wait, what?!", as soon as Jacob replied Caroline, hung up letting him rot in his misery. Jessica was pretty scary when she was angry.

Catching the stare that Stefan send her way, she realised that he might have heard the outburst she just had. Caroline rapidly began grabbing her things and getting the hell out of there before he could approach her with a new set of questions.

Caroline spent the rest of the day hanging out with Bonnie and avoiding Stefan trying to make it less obvious that she was avoiding him. And it went great as Bonnie was totally trying to avoid him too though she would never admit it.

Now she was laying on her bed chatting with Liam when her phone rang while in her hands. It was an unknown number so she decided to ignore it. When her phone stop ringing, she texted Liam a goodbye and was about to sit up when her phone started ringing again. Not able to stop her curiousness she answered the call not expecting it to be the voice of the devil himself, Damon.

"Giddy up Blondie, we have a dinner party to crash", Damon announced completely ignoring the Hi-Hello formalities and getting straight to the point.

"Elena's dinner party?", she asked. How does he even know about that?

Bonnie had told her about it. Another get-together she wasn't invited to, though Bonnie had invited her it didn't make a difference when the host didn't even bother. She couldn't even be mad cause she and Elena are not that close as they used to be. But It still hurt.

"Yup, so get ready. I will pick you up by 9", he said not giving her any opening to protest.

Caroline, had so many questions like, Why? And how the hell did he get her number? But she couldn't ask him any questions as she did promise him that she would do his bidding, no questions asked. So she just ends up asking, "But isn't it at 8?".

"We aren't actually going to have dinner with them Blondie, dessert maybe", he replied with a duh tone.

"Okay", she said seeing no way to back out. She was going to have to crash Elena's dinner party and she wasn't even going to get to eat dinner. This sucks.

"Great, see ya soon Blondie", Damon replied with a delighted voice, happy with her answer. Immediately hanging up the call next.

"Agh, I so don't want to go but I have to", Caroline whined. Seeing no other option, she stood up and she moved towards her closet but not before saving his number as, Annoying ass. It was 7:30 right now so she had about 1 and a half hour to get ready.

A/N: That marks the end of chapter 9.

I changed up the time sequence a bit by writing the cheer practice before the Stefan, Tyler and Matt scene if anyone noticed.

Next chapter we will see the infamous dinner party. I have not started on writing it yet so it might take a little longer.
