The ride downtown was eerily quiet, the pentagram symbol overhead of the sector, the dark red skies. The acid raid was starting to drizzle, the droplets landing on the window portion of the car, emitting small sounds.
Despite these small noises, it was still relatively quiet, an eerie silence passing over the area.
Vox hadn't said anything since he got inside, too busy looking at his phone. His cellular device provided a distraction from his surroundings. The GPS on his phone allowed him to book a private flight in advance and now the only thing he had to do was arrive at the station.
In order to pass the time, he looked through the messages and noticed that his texts were surprisingly empty. Given how long he had been imprisoned inside that crystal, he found it odd that nobody, not even his business partners or friends, tried to contact him.
'Hmm...I wonder why my Val and Velvet haven't tried contacting me...Maybe it's not possible while I'm here. I doubt the connection between the timeline is universal. My phone would've blown up with messages if that were the case…'
When Vox tried calling them, nothing worked, confirming his theory. There was no way to contact them even if he wanted to.
'Figures…' Vox rolled his eyes,'Can't say I'm surprised by that one. Well, at least it was worth a shot. Guess that means we're stuck in this timeline for good…'
He looked back at Vark who was laying on the seat. The shark was a very tight fit in the vehicle and had to curl up just to be somewhat comfortable without inhibiting anything or anyone in the car.
Vox patted the shark on the head, trying to put the hammer-head at ease,"Don't worry, Vark. I'm certain we'll get to our destination soon. The airport can't be too far from here…"
Vark gave him a weary glance, curling himself up further into a ball. Vox sighed, hoping that the ride would be over soon. Even during a quiet night like this, the tension was choking the air like a blanket of smoke.
The TV Demon then looked out the window. All the buildings they passed by in the distance had their lights off. Given how late it was, very few demons were out at this time of night. The only places that were still open were those that were open for 24 hours and what not and even then, it didn't seem like there were many people flocking towards those at this hour.
Thankfully, he managed to get the sight of an airport in the distance. He could see the lights illuminating from the run-way not too far from there. He could see several planes on the launch-pad and there were loads of cars in the parking lot.
'Guess this place never stops being busy…' Vox thought to himself as the imp pulled him up to the front entrance.
Vox exited the vehicle with Vark, giving the driver a small smile as he lowered the window to his car,"Thanks for driving me here…"
"No problem. I don't know what your problems are, but I hope you sort your issues out when you get to your destination."
"Me too," Vox mumbled, giving the driver one last wave before he sped off into the night, the lights on his car becoming dimmer as he vanished from sight. The TV Demon sighed,"That takes care of him. Better get going, Vark. We can't stay in Pentagram City anymore.."
Vox and Vark went inside the entrance, going through the glass doors. Vox went up to the front desk and saw a succubus at the front counter with a thin figure and large chest.
"Hello sir, how may I help you today?"
"I scheduled a flight and I'd like to go to the plane as fast as possible," Vox replied.
"You sound like you're in a hurry. Alright then, hand me your credentials."
Vox reached inside his wallet and gave her the proper identification. After making sure everything was in order she said,"Well then, Vox, I didn't anticipate seeing an overlord by himself. I thought you always flew with Velvet and Val…"
"They're not with me," Vox replied, not wanting to discuss his situation with her on a personal level,"This is something I have to do by myself. I'm only taking my pet shark with me for the ride…"
"Hmph, your choice, I won't judge. Not the first time we've dealt with people running away from their lives. You have no clue how many hellborns and sinners alike flee to secluded areas in order to avoid the complications in their lives. You're not the first person Vox, and I doubt you'll be the last."
Vox scoffed,"My situation is a bit more….strange than the other demons you met, I can assure you that…"
"And how would that be? It can't be that strange, especially in a realm like this. You can tell me if you want."
Vox tensed. He didn't want to spill his guts to this woman, especially about a situation this...complicated. He wasn't in the mood to talk about his life to strangers and explaining the whole situation with Vol would take way too much time."Not interested. Can you just tell me if I can go or what? I don't want to stay here all day…"
"Just head into security and check your bags. You'll find your way around from there…"
Vox nodded,"Thanks…" Vox was about to leave when she said,
"And if you do come back, you're welcome to spend time with me in the backroom if you want. You know, just to get to know each other better~"
Vox immediately averted his gaze. It wasn't like she wasn't pretty or anything but...it probably wasn't a good time to think with his dick. Especially since he had no plans on coming back here again.
That, and he heard her species drained people of their life energy..he wasn't sure if it was true, but he wasn't taking any chances getting fucked up on his way to the plane.
"Err, no thanks. I-I gotta get going. Come on, Vark. Let's go before anything else happens."
Vox quickly scampered off, the succubus giggling,"Well what do you know, even overlords run away when it gets toasty. Guess I'll have to try again next time…"
Vox heaved a sigh of relief once he got through security.
Thankfully these people were less pervy and once he clarified that Vark wasn't a threat, he let his luggage be processed into the scanner. Since everything inside was harmless, the guards let him go with minimal trouble.
Due to Vox scheduling a private flight, he was able to skip the waiting process and was allowed to go straight to the boarding area. Since he was the only person boarding, he and Vark were able to make their way inside.
The interior of the plane was about as luxurious as you'd expect to be. The seats were a beige color and the walls of the plane were white with gold windows. Vark had to have two seats just to fit him(you know, since he's a giant shark) and Vox sat on the right side of the plane after he buckled him inside.
"Alright everyone, keep your seat belts on the entire time unless you want to be sent flying. We're in for the long-haul, so I suggest you accept any food and drinks that are provided on this ride."
Vox rolled his eyes at these instructions, "Hpmh. Whatever."
It wasn't like he needed to eat anyway so he wasn't too concerned. After these instructions were said, Vox could hear the plane moving and gaining traction off the launch-pad, slowly lifting itself into the air.
He could feel the ground beneath him disappear as the motors roared, the aircraft launched into the red skies. The TV Demon watched as the plane got further and further off the ground, the tallest buildings in Hell now appearing to look like small sheds at this height.
He placed his hand on the small window, looking down in awe. Normally, he wouldn't really care about the appearance of Hell, but given how long it had been since he was able to be out on his own, he decided to make an exception.
'Damn, I forgot what it's like to be on a plane. It's been so long. Everything looks so tiny up here…'
As the flight continued, calm and relaxing music was played from the speakers to pass the time. From time to time, the flight attendant came out to give them food.
Vox didn't eat, instead preferring to grab a drink of wine that was provided, sipping on some scarlet alcohol when he popped the bottle off.
Out of the corner of his eye, Vox noticed Vark sniffing the cart before devouring an entire pack of chips. Apparently Vark wasn't picky with what he ate and eating chips that were meant for people didn't seem to have any effect on him as he began eating more bags of chips, tearing through them with his teeth.
"Uh...You know what? I'm not even gonna question it. He's fucking shark, his digestive system can probably handle that shit…"
When the attendant left, the flight resumed. Hours had passed and Vox had dozed off during the ride. He didn't technically need sleep due to the nature of his Demon Form, but he didn't want to waste his phone battery just yet and figured he could spend his time resting.
However, as he was resting, he was suddenly jolted awake when he heard the sound of lightning, his body now nearly being jerked out of his seat due to the plane taking a harsh turn,"Gah!"
Vox's eyes darted around his surroundings,"Huh? What the fuck was that!? Why is the plane shaking? What's going on!?" Vox then looked out the window and noticed that the skies had become a lot more dreary than he remembered them being.
At first, he didn't understand what he was looking at. However it slowly dawned on him that not only was he seeing lightning strike at an alarming rate around them, but he couldn't help but notice that there was a hurricane nearby and it was drawing closer by the passing second, the wind was pulling the airplane closer and closer, much to his horror.
"Holy shit," He breathed,"A fucking hurricane!? Where did that even come from!?"
He didn't understand, the weather was pristine earlier and there wasn't a mention on the forecast for any terrible conditions. It was like this had come out of nowhere. The weather was perfect up until now and Vox didn't get why a hurricane managed to spawn out from the blue.
Vox unbuckled his seat-belt and undid Vark's(he saw no point in staying seated given their current predicament) and rushed to the front entrance of the plane and shouted,"What the fuck is happening!? Why is there a hurricane and why are we getting closer!?"
"S-Sir, go back to your seat!" The pilot retorted,"That's an order! I have everything under control! J-Just go back and sit down with your pet please!"
Vox scoffed, he could tell he was just trying to make him not panic, but it was clear he was afraid for his life. Unlike Vox, he was a hell-born and could actually die in comparison.
Regardless, Vox didn't have time for this and said,"I'm not sitting back down! That's insane! You know we're about to enter the eye of the storm right? That hurricane is getting closer by the passing second and you're trying to pretend everything is fine! We're all going to fucking DIE if we don't get out of this! Do something and call for help!"
"Don't you think I tried tah?" He retorted,"I can't contact anyone! The hurricane is messing with the signal and there's nowhere safe for us to land! We're going to be swallowed by the wind and get torn to pieces at this rate!"
Suddenly, Vox and the pilot heard the sound of the door in the back of the plane open. Vox turned around just in time to see the flight attendant jump out without a parachute, the woman's shrill and terrified screaming becoming nonexistent as she sucked into the hurricane.
'Fuck...that girl would rather kill herself than die inside the plane…' Vox narrowed his eyes,'Can't say I blame her. We're all logged in to die at this rate if something isn't done. But what can we do?'
Truthfully, Vox wasn't certain what he could do at this point. Even if he survived, he doubted the others around him would. He'd respawn horribly maimed but if Vark or the pilot died, they'd be gone for good.
Vark whimpered, the shark eyeing Vox nervously as the winds began to pick up speed.
"Vark, don't look at me like that. We're gonna pull through..." Vox replied nervously as the hurricane was pulling them closer,"Boy, just hang on. This is gonna be a rough ride…"
Within seconds, they were pulled into the storm, screams of terror being heard from both men as they were shaken around. The winds were merciless and Vox knew they weren't going to make it.
"AAARGH!" Vox screeched, his voice becoming less staticky as genuine fear slipped into his voice. He could see Vark being thrown against the wall, the shark screaming while the pilot was hanging onto the steering wheel, his seat belt the only thing keeping him from being tossed about.
'Fuck…' Vox thought,'We're all going to fucking die. This damn hurricane is going to tear us to bloody pieces and I'm never going to see anyone I know again. Nobody will know what happened to me...and even then, I doubt many will care. Not after how badly I fucked up back at the hotel. Guess this is how it ends…' He smiled weakly,'Fucking perfect. I came all this way for nothing. And now I'm getting everyone around me killed. Even dragged Vark into this mess.'
Vox knew he fucked up. He had done that multiple times throughout his life. When he was human. When he was a demon. He had fucked up a lot throughout both stages of his life and normally, he'd just brush these off. But after everything…
Vox knew there was no turning back. It was only a matter of time before the hurricane tore them apart.
Just then, when they were mere moments away from death, Vox did something he never thought he'd ever do in his damned life.
He prayed for the almighty.
'God, it's me, Vincent. I don't know if you can hear me or if you are listening at all. Truthfully, I doubt you'd care given where I am and what I've done. But on the off-chance you're listening, I just want to say that I know I fucked up. I've made fuck-ton of mistakes in my life and I doubt anyone would forgive me for the. I personally don't believe I'm forgivable and I bet you and everyone else in heaven share that opinion. Even if I'm not, I want to say that I'm aware of my mistakes and while I can't change them, I want a chance to fucking make this shit right. I already fucked up in this timeline and my attitude has made shit worse. Everyone in this timeline hates me and I doubt I'll be able to make things right with Volastor, but I at least want a chance to do something right. So please, get us out of this situation and take me somewhere where I can do something good for a change! Anywhere is better than here!'
Without warning, a large crack of lighting tore through the skies from the heavens, striking the tornado and causing a large shock wave, emitting blinding light throughout the area. The last thing Vox saw was a bright light entering his eyes before it faded to black.
"Ugh…" Vox groaned, his head spinning. His body hurt and he noticed he had landed somewhere in a park. Vox slowly rose to his feet before standing up, his legs wobbling as he regained his balance."Fuck...W-What happened?"
He then turned and gasped. The plane he was in had crashed onto the ground and it had lit on fire and heard the sound of a whimper nearby.
"Shit! Vark!" He quickly rushed over adrenaline rushing through his veins. He saw a piece of rubble had landed on Vark's tail and he forced it off with his strength and pulled Vark to the side."You ok boy?"
Vark nodded, outside of a few burn marks and bruises, he seemed relatively fine despite the whole ordeal.
"Thank god...Now what about that other guy...Oh…"
When he tried to check if the pilot was there, he looked away when he saw his burning remains. The pilot appeared to have been trying to undo his seat-belt and likely died due to the flames.
"Fuck…" The TV mumbled. Despite the fact he didn't know him, he felt guilty for not being able to save him."Sorry I couldn't have saved you. I don't know how we survived, but it seems like my prayer was answered."
Still, Vox was rather doubtful. He wasn't certain if this was a contrived coincidence or a saving grace. He'd rather believe there was a logical explanation for this mishap over the farfetched idea that God himself had listened to his plea, but he couldn't exactly find one…
"Still..where the hell have we landed? This place looks...very familiar…" Vox looked around the surrounding area and realized that they had crashed into a park. He saw red roses on the bushes and it seemed relatively empty. When he looked up at the Pentagram, he could tell that it was early in the morning, meaning that demons were just now starting to wake up.
Vox paused, he swore he remembered being here. Sometimes he took Vark out for walks around his part of town when he had free time. Still, he didn't get why he was here, as the plane he took flew out of Pentagram City so he didn't get how he landed back here…
Curious, Vox decided to investigate and went to the main part of Pentagram City. There wasn't anyone around so Vox was able to walk around without anyone noticing him and Vark(which was probably a good thing given their rugged appearance).
As Vox was walking, his jaw dropped when he saw a familiar building in the distance. When he got closer he realized what it was…
It was Val's Studio, standing high and tall among the other buildings. He swore he remembered Angel talking about the place burned down in the timeline he was in and yet here it was, still standing…
"Holy fuck...How is this place still up? Something isn't right about this..Do you think that we...got into my timeline, Vark?" He looked at the shark with a weary glance.
Vark gave him a worried look, as if he could tell they weren't in the previous timeline either.
"Only one way to find out," Vox said,"Come on, let's go…"
Vox noticed Vark didn't move, tensing up. Vox paused when he noticed the fear in Vark's eyes and sighed,"Vark, don't be afraid. It's just the Studio. Nothing bad is going to happen. We just need to go inside and see what's going on up there. It'll be quick, I promise."
Vark averted his gaze before slowly following after him, Vox and Vark entering the doors of the Studio with cautious glances. Vox pushed the button to the elevator, the two stepping inside as they reached the top floor.
When they got to the top, Vox noticed the Studio was exactly how he remembered it looking. The chairs, the sofas, everything looked just how he last saw it. Or at least, what he could make out given how dark it was.
'Holy shit...this place hasn't changed…' Vox crept around the premises, still weary of his surroundings. As he was walking, he couldn't help but feel that his foot had run into something fleshy.'
Vox blanked,What the fuck!? What the hell did I just step on?'
It was only until he heard a familiar whimper did he realize what it was. At first, he wasn't worried since Vark was right behind him...at least until he remembered the whimper was coming from below and not behind him...
Which could only mean…
"Oh shit…"

Enigmus-288: Eh, what the fandom says isn't something we should take as canon. Especially since we haven't seen her do anything and I do remember the official caste system saying she and Charlie are weaker than Lucifer. Lucifer played his role, I don't plan on the version of him we know to do anything after this. He's too busy licking his wounds to really do anything.
Mitsuru6: Yeah that does make sense. Like Vox doesn't really know how to take care of Vol anyway. It'd probably help if Vol wasn't a depressed zombie. If he was in his normal state this probably wouldn't be an issue. Vol is just so damn depressed he literally can't function(and honestly Vox did make it worse) so yeah, everyone kind of got pissed at him and he just said,'fuck this shit I'm out'. And then it resulted into this. Vol honestly needs to be shaken away cuz he's just not functioning in general. Like he was legit a zombie last time we saw him. He's alive outside but dead on the inside and is a depressed deer guy who isn't able to cope properly.
