The day prior to extermination came faster than you would expect. Micheal already had his plan in mind, now he had to set it into motion. This was literally the only way for him to go down in Hell without violating the treaty that they had signed all those years ago and he'd be damned before he missed his opportunity.

But for the plan to work ultimately...he'd had to take Vincent with him.

Vincent narrowed his eyes,"What have you gotten me up for this time, Micheal? It's a bit late to be running around is it not?"

"I understand your confusion, however this is very important and I need you to listen to every word I say."

"What for? What have you gotten me into, Micheal? I don't like the sound of this…"

"We're going to Hell…"

"What!?" The blonde snapped,"You're taking me to that disgusting place of vice and sin? Are you crazy!? I'll get killed down there!"

"Relax, nobody can kill you down there. Your soul is possessing a heavenly vessel and heavenly weapons aren't able to kill those of holy origin. While you can get harmed, you cannot be killed like demons can…"

"Gee, that makes me feel so much better…" Vincent grumbled, clearly not liking the way this conversation was going.

"Don't be so upset, I won't let anything happen to you anyway. I'm stronger than pretty much everyone here, the only person who can actually harm me down there is my brother. Even then, I'm more than prepared to fight back if he does get hostile. I beat him once, I can do it again if I have to."

"Even if I believe you, why are we going down there in the first place?"

"Well given you're the closest thing left of the original Vox, I believe that at least explaining the situation to his loved ones would be fair. It's the least I can really do considering I basically wiped almost all of his memories from you, leaving you more or less a blank slate."

"I'm not a blank slate," Vincent said,"Just because I lack another man's memories doesn't mean I'm empty. And why should I care about these people anyway? For all intents and purposes, Vox is dead and I cannot be expected to fill in the gap he left."

"I know that you and Vox are not the same person but that doesn't change the fact that the reason you're like this is my fault. The least I can do is at least show them the damage and give them this type of peace, though I doubt it'll be much…"

"So are we going to go to Hell like this?"

"No, of course not. We'll be going in these," Micheal pulled out the outfits the Exorcists wore on the day of Extermination.

"Where did you find those?"

"I have my ways.." Micheal stammered,"All I had to do was 'borrow' them from a few people. I doubt they'll mind too much anyway. And with the help of these disguises, we'll be able to go in unnoticed by the other Exterminators."

Vincent blanked,"Wait...why do you need a disguise? You just said you're the strongest person around outside of your brother with your father away, why do you need a disguise?"

"To blend in. Not to mention I'm not supposed to be down there at all. Exorcists are only allowed to exterminate the population but me and the rest of my family aren't allowed to go down there due to the treaty we signed. My father made it a rule that only Exorcists can go down to Hell on Extermination and the only real loophole around this for me is if I go down as one. Since you're technically a soul bound to Heaven, you're free to go without question but since I'm an Angel, I have to take protocols so I'm not violating the treaty. Me being recognized automatically would hinder that."

"So you're basically just going to pretend to be a normal soul until we confront the others?"

"That's the plan, theoretically, it should work as long as we put our heads down…"

Micheal then handed the costume over to Vincent who went in the other room to change.

Vincent and Micheal had put the Exorcist clothing on. Since all Exorcists had the same uniform, Micheal went as far as to color-code them so that they'd be able to differentiate themselves from the other Exterminators.

Michel wore a gold-white uniform with gold gloves, boots and horns. Vincent had a grey and Celeste blue uniform with matching blue horns on the top of his head. In their hands were weapons, in Micheal's case he had two holy swords while Vincent had a spear.

"Where did you even find these again?" Vincent asked, looking at the spear in his hand wearily.

"It wasn't that hard, there is a large stash of holy weapons not too far from here. We only use them for the Extermination. If we want to look like the others, we need to have weapons so we don't look strange."

They then headed over to where the other Exorcists were, all of whom seemed to be readying themselves for the plunge, checking their weapons and all. When they took notice of Vincent and Micheal, they appeared rather confused. One of them then asked,"Uh...Are you two new or something?"

"Yes, we are. Is there something wrong with that?"

"It's just that...you're a bit colorful don't you think?" They said this while eyeing the colors on their clothes, their LED mask gave away their confusion.

"Does it really matter?" Micheal asked, raising an eyebrow,"Even if they see me, what does it matter? They already know we're coming."

"Yeah, but the colors are rather distracting. Like everyone else is grey and black and you two...aren' two don't look as intimidating with those bright colors."

"You don't need dark colors to be intimidating," The angel retorted,"Trust me. We'll do fine, colors or not."

"I hope you're right on that one," They replied.

Suddenly, the sound of a church bell ringing caused everyone to be on high-alert. Vincent paused,"Why is there a bell ringing? What's going on?"

"The Extermination is starting," Another Exterminator said,"The bell chime means that we're about to descend in that awful pit. Everyone, prepare yourselves, we're about to go in…"

Within seconds, a hole in the clouds showed itself beneath their feet. When Vincent took a closer look, he could see that it was a portal leading them directly to the underworld. He clutched his spear before looking at Micheal. The angel gave him a look that read,'Are you ready?'

He nodded,'More than I'll ever be..'

Without any further instruction, they all took the plunge, spreading their wings as they jumped straight down into the depths, the skies now an ominous red as a Pentagram became visible.

Vincent narrowed his eyes when they got down. He couldn't help but feel strange when he got there. It was like this overpowering presence was making his body itch and he couldn't get rid of it. He then asked,"Why do I feel so strange? It's like the moment I got down here, something changed."

The other Exorcist sighed,"Being a soul bound to Heaven does that to you. You have senses to search out wickedness. This cesspool of sin always has a malevolent energy and it's always overpowering at this time of year. Thankfully, this sense helps track any demons on the prowl. And look, prey…"

One motioned to a demon that straggled out. The other Exorcist took this opportunity to pounce, leaping on them and stabbing them with their weapons several times, blood splattering their uniform. They turned before saying,"They never see us coming until it's too late. Poor well, only the worst of the worst go here so I can't say I feel too bad…"

Vincent and Micheal stared at the dead body momentarily, Micheal merely looking away for a moment while Vincent just looked in awe. It was a horrifying yet intriguing sight, as he could see the light fading from the demon's eyes, laying against the ground with their body horribly maimed.

The Exorcist then looked up at Vincent and Micheal and said,"Are you two newbs done staring? You know you're capable of doing it as well."

"We know…" The disguised angel replied, doing his best to remain respectful despite the blatant rudeness coming from the other person.

"If you know then you should go and do it," They retorted,"Trust me, you'll get used to the screams. Just remember, the worse the aurora the individual gives off, the more wicked they are. "

"So was this person the worst?" Vincent asked wearily, eyeing their corpse. Despite them being dead, he couldn't help but feel disturbed seeing their body like this.

"No, but they were an example," They said,"Trust me, it's more about targeting those who are available but if you truly feel the need to purge the worst people down here, you should go in the larger buildings. The worst bastards hide out there because they think they're safe. Of course busting in will destroy their illusion of safety and it's not like any of them can really fight against you. We're naturally stronger than these demons so you shouldn't have to worry about them fighting back…"

"Why don't you guys do that?"

"Easier to hunt those outside. Besides, it's not worth the effort when you only have twenty-fours to exterminate as many as you can."

"We'll keep that in mind," Micheal stated before looking at Vincent and motioning him to follow,"Come on, we should go head off onto our own path."

"Are you sure you two will be able to do this? You two are fresh meat after all."

"I assure you, we don't need assistance. Let us handle ourselves…" Micheal said firmly before dashing off in the other direction, Vincent following afterwards.

The moment the other Exorcists were out of sight, Micheal heaved,"Thank the lord they're gone. They ask far too many questions for my liking…"

"So what should we do now?" Vincent asked,"Now that we lost the others, we're free to do as we please. Do you think we should continue with the extermination?"

"That's not what we came here for. These outfits were only meant to an end. Now we need to locate the people that you-"

Vincent sent him a look through his mask, one that projected it's way onto his LED mask, morphing his neutral expression into an irritated one, making a noise from his throat in annoyance.

"Vox left behind," Micheal corrected, realizing his mistake.

Vincent's expression wavered slightly, becoming less hostile,"Hmph. Even then, do you know where these people are?"

"I didn't get many details. I wouldn't know where they are but perhaps it would serve us well to look for where they could be staying."

"Do you think we could ask someone?"

"Vincent...we're dressed as Exorcists. Any demons who see us will flee the other direction assuming they hadn't already. Asking for aid isn't an option down here. Not like they would anyway, even without the Extermination going around, I doubt many demons would feel inclined to give away information without something in return."

"Aw…" He deflated for a moment,"I was just hoping that-"

"Not down here, Vincent. I understand you have very little life experience of your own, but Hell is a very awful place with depraved people even by the standard's of Earth."

Vincent sighed in defeat before saying,"And if we encounter any demons in our way? Do we kill them?"

"I personally would prefer to avoid killing, especially since it'll distract from our mission, but if we have to, I won't object…" Micheal then narrowed his eyes,"The amount of sin in this place makes me sick. I don't get how anyone can live like this. It's causing my senses to haywire…"

"Same…" Vincent nodded before pausing momentarily, his body stiffening,"Hey...you feel that?"

"The strong aurora in the air? Yes..it's hard to miss. Out of all the others, it's causing me distress and it's nearby given we can both feel it."

"Yeah…" Vincent gripped his spear,"You remember what that other person said about strong auras? About how the worst of the worst usually have a stronger one that's easier to pick out? Don't you think we should...get rid of it?"

"Vincent that's not what we're here fo-"

"But it's getting on my nerves. This hellhole is already bad enough by driving our senses mad merely by entering. If what that other Exterminator said was true, then perhaps ridding this world of this awful presence will bring us some much needed peace. It won't take long and we'll get right back to what we're supposed to do once we're finished. We have plenty of time after all," He said coldly,"Speaking of which, we should get to locating where it's coming from. And my senses tell me that's it's this way…" Vincent pointed ahead, motioning to what looked like an empty Studio in the distance, it appeared rather run-down and abandoned.

"Are you certain? It doesn't look like anyone has lived in that place for a while…"

"I'm more than certain. Someone's hiding in there and they're causing this. And I plan on putting an end to it…" He then scowled,"Permanently…"

Velvet sighed, every time the WiFi was unavailable, rendering her phone nothing more than a piece of plastic. There was nothing to do every time Extermination rolled around...

Normally this wouldn't have been so bad had this been any other year, but this was the first time she was enduring the Extermination alone.

Val and Vox were dead and Vark...was somewhere. She wasn't certain what happened to him but she figured someone else was taking care of him now that Vox wasn't there.

It was just her. There was no one to take selfies with, no one to laugh or joke around with. The only two people she was willing to call her friends were no longer there, leaving her empty inside.

Even though it had been a month since everything went down, the pain hadn't faded away one bit. Things just collapsed when Val and Vox perished, their trademark was ruined. While Velvet had her own companies, few demons wanted anything to do with her thanks to Vox's interference. As the only remaining V, their reputation had been thrown into the dirt and made people very reluctant to put up with her.

And so, in the span of not even a month, the life Velvet knew had collapsed in on itself. Business was at an all-time low and things were looking pretty poor for her. She wasn't used to being by herself and now that Vox and Val were gone, she was forced to do things on her own.
From what she heard, Vox managed to kill Val but ultimately succumbed to his wounds afterwards after he got shot several times. Charlie organized a public funeral in his honor and even Lilith and Lucifer took the time out of their day to watch the burial take place.

Velvet was tempted to go to the funeral herself, but knew that she wasn't welcomed. The other Hazbins would've likely become hostile if she showed her face at the funeral, especially Arackniss who she heard was still recovering from the arm she chopped off earlier. She likely would've gotten attacked and even assuming nobody tried to make a move on her, the atmosphere likely would've forced her to leave as soon as she came…

So when she did pay Vox's grave a visit, she did it when nobody else was present. And even then...she was not exactly in a stellar mood, constantly thinking about how Vox had 'betrayed' them and how he turned his back on them for someone he'd never see.

Their absence was rather noticeable, as the Studio just felt...dull. Not to mention nobody was inside the Studio outside of her. All of Val's other employees had fled the moment they heard of his demise and Vox's employees worked in an entirely different building, leaving her all alone…

Velvet then looked at the picture of all three of them together, before all of this mess happened. On the back, she saw her handwriting read,'Best Friends Forever…'

She then scoffed,"So much for that…Some friend he was...He just left us for no reason and now I've got no one. Thanks a lot, Vox. I hope you're happy in Double-Hell cuz you're probably way happier than I am down there…"

Suddenly, Velvet heard the sound of someone busting through the window outside her bedroom, the glass shattering. She nearly jumped out of her skin when she saw two Exorcists entering the room, ominously staring down at her, one of them gripping their spear with malicious intent.

Velvet was speechless, her heart pounding within her chest. This was the closest she had ever been to an Exterminator. She never thought she'd see one up close and now, she realized just how much danger she was in.

'Fuck…' Velvet thought,'I'm so fucking dead. These two are gonna kill me…'

"Looks like we found the source of the wickedness," The blue one said calmly,"Though I have to admit, I was expecting someone a bit more...intimidating than this. If I didn't know any better, I'd think she was just a young lady instead of a being of vice and sin…"

"Evil comes in all types of appearances. You do not have to look terrifying to be evil in some form," The gold one replied.

"Fair point. I should probably end this quickly. We aren't even supposed to be here anyhow…" He raised his spear in the air before sending the spear down, only to stop at the last second when he heard a strange sound coming from her,"W-What the heavens was that?"

"I...I think she's crying?"

"What? I thought this was a being of pure evil, why is she crying like a little girl? Is this some type of act? Because I'm not falling for it!" Vincent hissed,"Hey! You! Stop crying!"

Velvet continued sobbing her eyes out, curling up into a ball on the floor. It was a sorry sight and neither men knew what to do when they saw this.

Vincent just stared at her,"Is...Is this a joke? We came here to eliminate an embodiment of vice and sin and yet she's crying like a child?"

"I don't know, but I don't think it's fake...It seems way too realistic…"

"They're crocodile tears, they have to be. She's clearly just crying to weasel her way out of the situation. She's probably waiting for us to turn her back so she can laugh about this experience with her friends!"

Velvet sniffled,"I don't have any friends…"

"Are you saying this in an attempt to make us pity you?" Vincent asked,"Because you're innocent act is not working. You cannot trick us. You may have the appearance of a child's play toy, but I know better."

"But I'm not lying!" She cried,"All my friends are DEAD! I don't have anyone! My friends killed each other and now I'm stuck picking up the pieces! I lost everything!" She sobbed,"Please just kill me...I don't wanna live anymore. My life has no purpose without my friends and I'm too much of a coward to do it myself…"

Vincent and Micheal just stared at her blankly. This was not the reaction they were anticipating.

Micheal nervously rubbed the back of his head,"Perhaps we should leave...This just feels ...wrong…"

"Don't tell me you believe this sob story, do you? This is clearly an attempt to buy sympathy…"

Vincent gasped when he felt the spear suddenly pulled from his hands. Velvet was aiming it at herself,"If you're not gonna do it, I'll just do it myself…"

Vincent and Micheal stood back, not certain what to do anymore. Vincent narrowed his eyes, wondering if she was actually going to go through with it. She was shaking like a leaf and tears were running down her face as she aimed the weapon at her chest.

"You know, I didn't really think I'd ever contemplate the day I'd send myself to double-hell, but I guess I drastic times come for drastic measures, huh?" She asked them with a weary smile,"I know you two probably don't care but...I really am serious about having no one. My friends are dead. Vox and Val are gone and maybe it's better that I join them. Especially since those Hotel freaks took him away…"

Velvet prepared to thrust the spear into her chest only for Micheal to to grab her arm,"Wait..not yet..."

"Huh? Whatcha doing mister Exorcist? I thought ya wanted me to die...What's with the change of heart?"

"You said something about those 'Hotel' people...Do you know where they are?" He asked firmly.

"You mean if I know where the hotel is? That place got burned down."

"Well that's just great," Micheal said,"So much for heading there…"

"But if I had to guess, that Charlie girl probably took them to Lucifer's palace once they won the battle," She said lowly,"That girl is a spoiled princess so of course if everything goes wrong for her, she can always just fallback on her parents to bust her and her friends out of hesitation. Too bad I don't have that power…"

Vincent narrowed his eyes,"Is that so? Well then, mind showing us where that palace is? That'd be a massive help..."

"What for? I don't have anything left to live for…" Velvet mumbled,"I'm just a waste of space at this point…"

"You may not have anything left to live for, but that doesn't mean you cannot be useful. Besides, you'll be safer with us than you are here. Do you truly have anything left to lose?"

Velvet shook her head,"I mean...I really don't…"

"Then help us, perhaps we can give you some type of purpose," Vincent said,"Does that sound OK?"

"Y-Yeah…" Velvet then blanked when she noticed Vincent had used his glove to wipe away the tears from her eyes,"What did you do that for?"

"Seeing you crying was tiring," He admitted,"Besides, for an evil creature, you aren't too awful on the eyes…It makes the wickedness you give off more tolerable now that I look at your face...A pity you're a demon, else I'd be more willing to put up with you."

The Doll stared at him awkwardly,'Is this Exorcist seriously going from wanting to kill me to flirting with me in the span of two minutes? What the hell?'

Still, Velvet would take it over getting impaled any day of the week.

"Ahem," Micheal interrupted,"Could we please move on? I'd like to get to Luci's-I mean Lucifer's mansion right about now."

"I don't see why not. And don't worry, er…. What was your name again? I don't believe I caught it."

" It's Velvet…"

"Velvet. What a...unique name. Don't worry, Velvet, we will keep you safe. Trust me…" He said this while trying to smile warmly, though the LED mask didn't exactly make him look very friendly to her.

"Uh...sure…" Velvet mumbled, trying to ignore the fact she just had a second near death experience mere moments ago. She couldn't help but notice that the blue Exterminator was staring at her intently for a moment, as if he was trying to examine her,"A bit rude to stare, ain't it?"

"Oh...sorry…" Vincent said softly before sighing.

He remembered how she mentioned Vox and looked down,'Guess the two of them were once friends...Explains why I couldn't stop looking at her for a while. Oh well, Vox and I stopped being the same person a while ago and I will not let myself be shackled to those he left behind. His problems do not become mine and I'm only doing this because Micheal wants me to...'

Thanks for 9,455 views! Tell me what you think below!

Enigmus-288: I know, just wanted to clarify just to be safe.

Mitsuru6: Thanks, I'll keep up on it. And yeah, Vincent is kind of acting like Volastor(mainly when Vol was being a dick). And Micheal doesn't like disobeying the rules God set out and since God made the rules on the number,he just tries to circumvent around the issue without violating God's rules. He prefers being the good angel who follows the rules cuz you know...reasons. Micheal chose a loophole so that technically, he didn't violate anything as he came down as an Exterminator so yeah.

Chronosign: Vincent remembers almost nothing, that includes everything that Vox experienced when he was alive. At best certain things look familiar to him but he really remembers nothing about legit wiped most of his memories clean off of him thanks to the purification. Vincent legit is more or less a purified vessel of what remained of Vox's soul rather than a direct version of him. I guess you could say that when it comes to Micheal, makes sense. Yeah, I feel like that'll happen. Charlie will probably convince Vaggie to go to show the world in the end since Vaggie seems like the easiest to redeem out of the cast.
