You know it was probably a good thing God didn't grant Angels the ability to kill other Angels, because with how Micheal was swinging his blade at Gabriel, it was clear his intent was to cause as much damage as possible that would likely be fatal to any other person if his blades made contact with them….
Regardless, not being able to kill his sibling did absolutely nothing to deter Micheal from trying to cause as much harm as possible. Gabriel immediately attempted to flee the situation by flying with his wings only for Micheal to teleport behind him and kick him into the nearest building.
"ARGH!" They winced, crying out in pain as they landed into a wall.
Micheal chuckled,"Aw, what's the matter? Did you fall down? Are you gonna cry? How pathetic, Gabriel, I expected a better fight outta you. It's so disappointing, I haven't had a good fight in eons and yet you run away like a coward at the first sign of conflict. Probably a good thing I'm putting you out of power if this is how you behave…"
"Micheal, stop...You're not thinking straight. Please, stop this madness…"
He rolled his eyes,"Spare me the lecture, Gabriel. I'm done with the empty platitudes and I'd appreciate it if the only thing I heard from you were screams in agony as I tear you apart.." He raised his blade in the air, preparing to cut Gabriel down until they had summoned a force field to protect themselves."Seriously? You know you can't hide behind that force field forever. I'm going to break it one way or another, why not accept the inevitable if you're not going to fight? It'd be easier on the both of us if you just cooperated!"
Micheal was about to try and free his blade, however was suddenly kicked away by another force and screamed in surprise,"AAAAAAACCCKK!"
Gabriel's eyes widened,"Huh? What just happened?"
"I saved your sorry ass, that's what," Lucifer stated, making his presence known."Now stand up, you serve no purpose on the ground…"
Gabriel sent him a look before regaining their footing."Whatever, brother. I hope you didn't come here to cause problems…"
"Hardly. I'm here to stop Micheal from causing a full-blown war. Because as much as I'd love to stay out of this and let you handle the consequences of your actions, you are unfortunately fighting on my turf and I don't want you and Micheal turning my realm into a battlefield. So I'd appreciate it if you stopped holding me in contempt and actually helped me because right now, we have FAR bigger problems right now.." Lucifer said this while tilting his head to the side, narrowly dodging Micheal's sword,"You missed."
"I know…" Micheal hissed,"Can't say I expected to see you here, brother. I thought you'd stay out of this fight…"
"You know I can't stay out of a fight that literally involves my entire realm, Micheal. I know you're pissed but you can't turn my land into a playpen."
"I'm not intending to," He replied,"It's just that I need Gabriel out of the way and since they won't comply willingly, I'll have to slam their face into the dirt until the barrier weakens enough for me to break through! Once that happens, you won't have to worry about me for a while. So step aside, this is between me and Gabriel.."
"I can't do that," Lucifer replied,"I know something is wrong with your mind, Micheal. And I can't stand idly by while your mind deteriorates by the second. You have to be stopped…"
He rolled his eyes,"Of course you choose to be difficult, Luci. Can't ever stay out of things for your own good, huh? Well in that case, I suppose I'll just have to deal with you as well.."
"Have fun with that, Micheal," Lucifer replied,"Because I didn't come along. I brought a little band of armies and they aren't afraid to fight back…"
On cue, all the hazbins showed up with borrowed holy weapons, carrying things from guns, knives, spears to even axes in some cases. Even Charlie was wielding a holy pitchfork in her hands, standing alongside Vaggie with burning determination in her eyes.
Micheal blanked,"Are you serious, Lucifer? Did you just have Charlie drag her friends into this fight? I thought you'd know better than to bring your child into the battleground…"
"Hey! I made the choice to come here and so did everyone else!" Charlie snapped,"Just because I'm nice doesn't mean I'm passive! We didn't want to fight you but you're giving us no choice! Surrender now or prepare to fight! We've got you surrounded and you can't take all of us at once!"
"She's right, brother," Gabriel said,"Stand down. We don't want to hurt you…"
Micheal scoffed,"An Angel always stands their ground, Gabriel. I will NEVER quit! I've lost far too much to turn back now and if you all think you can deter me from the throne then you have another thing coming!" His eyes then glowed as he lifted his hand in the air, a large bout of magic encompassing the area behind him as figures began to form.
Before they knew it, Micheal had summoned an entire army of holy soldiers at his side, grinning ear to ear,"Like how I evened the odds, everyone?"
"Holy shit!" Vaggie cursed,"He's got an entire army on his side! And there's more of them than there are of us!"
"That won't stop us," Vincent growled,"We'll take you down even if we have to cut down your entire army to do it!"
"Have fun with that, Vincent. It won't be that easy," He chuckled before shouting,"Now my loyal minions, attack! Make sure they don't cause any problems for me! Annihilate them!"
Everyone immediately braced themselves as Micheal's army charged at them. Thinking fast, Velvet shouted,"EVERYONE SPLIT UP!"
Without a second thought, the Hazbins quickly split into different groups to drive the soldiers away. Micheal watched in amusement as he saw the Hazbins fighting against his forces,'How naive...they think they can win…' He then directed his attention at his siblings,"You two are still here? I thought you'd be helping your little friends…"
"Charlie's friends can handle themselves," Lucifer retorted,"Our beef is with you, Micheal and you alone. And since Gabriel clearly can't handle you alone, I have no choice but to fight you on an equal playing field to level the odds…" He then summoned all six of his pure white wings
Gabriel followed after, showing off only four wings in comparison,"It's two on one, Micheal. You're still at a disadvantage…"
"Considering how incompetent you are, your presence hardly matters. We all know you're not a physical fighter. You rely on your magic to the point you're crippled without it, Micheal snickered, Gabriel flinching at the insult, trembling at the glare Micheal gave them."And as for you Lucifer, you should know better than to challenge me. After all, I'm the one who banished you in the first place and yet it appears that you've yet to learn your lesson. Guess we'll be reenacting the Fall once more…"
The King of Hell scowled,"There will be no reenacting this time, Micheal. Things have changed and I'll be sure to win this time, not only for my sake but your's…" Lucifer then charged forward, lunging at Micheal in a full on brawl through mid-air with a battle cry.
Ada sighed, tending to a baby was probably one of the most difficult things she had ever been tasked with doing.
Between 'dealing' with people Lucifer found too troublesome to stick around and doing physical activities, Samuel had proved to be more stressful than all of the things she had done prior. The baby was needy and required constant attention at nearly every second of the day.
'I'm literally five seconds away from pulling my hair out. I cannot believe Micheal just left me with this kid and went off with his day! The nerve of that man!' She growled to herself as she stared at the wall.
The place Micheal had was clearly made out of magic and Ada wasn't certain if she could even break out on her own. She was never one to delve into magic spells and it appeared that Micheal knew just enough magic to create an entire house that had no clear exit.
It was the most lavish gilded cage she had ever seen and if it weren't for her current circumstances she probably wouldn't have minded living there permanently…
"Ugh...I'm never going to get out of here at this rate. Now I'm doomed to be a glorified wife to someone who has dropped off the deep end. Just what I wanted to live for. Oh well...at least the baby has calmed down so it's not completely terrible…"
She looked back at Samuel who was playing with a block, using his telekinesis to lift it up in the air. For someone who wasn't even a month old he fairly advanced, able to control where he placed the block with relative ease.
"You know, if I had half of your powers I'd probably be out of here by now," She admitted before briefly pausing as it hit her. The one thing she hadn't tried just yet was to accept the aid of another person to bust out. Even if said person was a literal infant…
Yeah. Ada was well aware she was scraping the bottom of the barrel resorting to using Micheal's child to break free but her desperation had reached drastic levels and Samuel seemed like the key to her freedom.
'May as well give it a try. Let's see how this child can be of use to me…' She then called out,"Hey, kid. Mind being useful to me and helping me get out of here?"
Samuel didn't respond, too occupied by his toys to care for her dilemma. She scowled,'Little brat is ignoring me...Alright then, if you're going to play the hard game, I'll join in as well. About time I blew off some steam…'
She then walked up to him, snatched the toys away and said,"I think you've had enough time playing with these. Time to hit the crib…"
Samuel started whining when she took the toy away from him, his stubby arms attempting to take it back to no avail. At first, it looked like he was going to cry, tears welling up in his large beady eyes…
At least until his fist clenched and his wings sprung from his back as his eyes glowed white. Floating in the air, he let out an ear piercing screech before a large shock wave encompassed the area as pure energy bounced off the walls.
Ada's jaw fell open when she saw that Samuel's powers had busted a hole through the living room, revealing an escape,"Well I'll be damned. Looks like you pack quite the punch kid. With all that energy I doubt you'll be needing a nap anytime soon…"
Ada decided to make her escape only to become annoyed when Samuel latched onto her shoulder,"Hey! What are you doing!? Get off you little brat!"
Samuel refused to let go, clinging to her for dear life and to be frank, for someone his size his grip actually hurt like hell…
"What do you want now!? Are you seriously going to be a nuisance and cling to me in a time like this? I'm about to enter a battlefield!"
Her assertion about the danger had done nothing to deter Samuel from clinging to her body, now grabbing her hair tightly to ensure she wouldn't try shaking him off.
She sighed in defeat,"Alright fine. Since you want to come so badly you can. It's not like I can stop you anyway. Just don't get in the way because I don't need Lilith coming for my head for letting you near the battlefield, understand?"
Samuel slowly nodded his head, clinging to her hair and pulling forward as if to beckon her onward.
"I'm going to take that as my signal to move forward…" She mumbled, doing her best to ignore the child that was now playing with her hair. Had this been any other child she would've just swatted them off but Samuel had long since proved he was superior in strength and that getting on his bad side was the last thing you wanted to do.
Samuel smiled eagerly as Ada took him along for the ride, quickly running as fast her legs could carry her as she tried to locate where the others were…
Guess being the bastard son of one of the most powerful beings in the universe did have its perks….
Meanwhile, the others were combating Micheal's personal army with the weapons from Lucifer's stash. In order to stay alive they had to take to higher ground positions, using the holy weapons they obtained to whack at any offenders they caught getting too close to comfort.
At the moment, Vanny and Velvet were working together, swinging their axes in unison as they chopped off a few soldier's heads clean off their shoulders, turning into dust shortly afterward as the magic that sustained their forms had been shattered.
"Ha! Just scored a combo! In your face!"
"Oh yeah? Well I just got a triple combo!" Velvet shot back,"I'm wracking up a higher kill streak than you!"
"Bitch please, we both know I'm the one with the higher score!"
"Nu-uh! I do!" Velvet said before noticing Volastor was looking in their general direction and waved,"Oh hey Vol! Whatcha staring at!?"
He didn't respond, eyes widening slightly before suddenly aiming his holy pistol in her direction and firing, narrowly missing her by an inch.
"WOAH! What the fuck Vol!?" She screeched,"Are you trying to make me die twice!? What's your problem!? That gun ain't a toy dammit!"
Vol then said,"Behind you…"
"Huh?" She then turned around and saw a soldier standing behind her with a staff raised in front of their body and crumbled to the ground, evaporating into ash before they hit the ground."Oh…Thanks for saving me…" She replied, rubbing the back of her head awkwardly.
Vol scoffed,"Pay attention to your surroundings, Velvet. This isn't a game, you need to stay on task! I can't always protect you dammit! I don't need you getting yourself killed because you did something stupid!"
"Relax, it happened once!" She retorted,"I've got things under control!"
"Didn't appear that way when I saved your ass," He replied flatly,"Look, I know I'm asking a lot but can you PLEASE stop putting yourself in danger needlessly because of your childish attitude! This is a LIFE AND DEATH SITUATION AND YOU TWO ARE ACTING LIKE CHILDREN! GROW THE FUCK UP DAMMIT!" Vol grabbed Velvet by the collar, glaring at her fiercely as he tried to get his point across.
Velvet shrunk,"But Vol...I never got the chance to…"
"Neither did I," He said, gaze remaining cold,"At least you had a childhood...I didn't. But do you see that stopping me from accessing the situation like an adult? No? Then don't use that as an excuse because I can't protect you all the time. I don't want your impulsiveness to be your undoing…"
Just then, Vincent and Alastor suddenly arrived, having dealt with their side of the horde, Vincent shouting,"Hey! Is something going on here? We heard yelling!"
"It's fine," Vol said,"I'm just scolding the girls for their reckless behaviour that's all…"
"Oh I see," Al admitted,"For a second we thought something more serious had transpired…"
Suddenly they all heard a scream in the distance, everyone's gaze averting upwards to see Micheal, Gabriel and Lucifer fighting in the skies. Despite it being a two on one fight, it seemed that they were struggling to fight Micheal in mid-air.
"Holy shit, at them go! It's a battle between three giants!" Vanny shouted,"Looks like even Lucifer's having trouble up there."
"I wonder why," Alastor admitted,"You'd think this battle being two on one would give them the advantage…"
"It's fairly obvious why," Vincent said,"Neither Gabriel or Lucifer want to hurt Micheal, as surprising as it sounds for the latter, it's true. And even when they're being forced to fight against him I have the feeling they aren't aiming to cause serious damage but instead are trying to subdue him, though they don't seem to be having much luck with that. And I fear that if something isn't done soon, Micheal will eventually overpower them. If he manages to break through Heaven's barrier in his current state...it won't be pretty…"
"Shit! What do we do!?" Velvet shouted,"We're so fucked! Even if we dealt with Micheal's army, we stand no chance against the man himself! We're like ants to him! He'll crush us!"
"Not me," Volastor said,"I'm not an ant to unlike Lucifer and Gabriel who are too caught up with their feelings for their brother to not see the bigger picture, I'm more than willing to give someone a beatdown if they happen to pose a threat, especially if said person is possessed by an evil spirit…"
"Vol," Al started,"You're not saying that you're going to go and fight him are you? That's too dangerous!"
"I fought another version of Lucifer and won, I can do the same here…"
"But Micheal managed to banish Lucifer to this pit, you can't fight him and expect it to end the same way! You can't seriously believe you'll stand a chance against him!" Alastor hissed.
"It's a better chance than anyone else down here does…" Vol stated before stepping forward,"Now if you don't mind, I'll be going. I have a battle to join…"
"Not without us…" Vincent said, grabbing Vol by the shoulder,"We're coming with you."
"No…" Vol said,"You can't come with me. You're too weak, you'll just get in the way of the battle. If Micheal ends up targeting any of you you'll get obliterated. Erased even depending on what he hits you with…."
"Then that's a risk we're willing to take," Al said,"We've been through too much to leave you hanging Vol. Wherever you go, we follow…"
"As much as I appreciate the gesture, Al, I'm afraid I can't let you do that…" Vol then pushed him away before summoning a large purple force field around them.
Everyone jumped back at this, Velvet quickly banging her fist against the barrier,"HEY! Vol what gives!? Let this stupid barrier down!"
"Yeah!" Vincent shouted,"You can't just leave us here! Let us out!"
"I wish I could, believe I really didn't want to resort to trapping you all here but…" He averted his gaze,"I can't really risk losing any of you. I just can't do it. I know I should be used to the loss but I can't stand aside and watch everyone around me die for my sake over and over again. This is not my first rodeo with this sort of situation but I refuse to stand here and let you kill yourselves for me."
"Vol! This is ridiculous!" Alastor growled,"Imprisoning us in a force field isn't going to keep us safe!"
"Actually it will, nobody is going to get you here," Vol admitted,"Besides, eventually you'll get let out assuming I end up...not coming back from this…"
"Vol, let us out!" Velvet demanded,"This is crazy! Ya gotta let us go! We can help you!"
"No, you can't…I'm not losing those I love again."
Vincent scowled,"If you truly loved us you'd let us go!"
Vol then snapped,"I am NOT having you judge me, Vincent. I'm not having someone who is a shell of their former self lecturing me about my actions! You're just a shadow of the man you used to be!"
"I'm not-"
"I don't care!" He shouted,"Even if you aren't, you never bothered to try and remember! You never bothered to try! And it'd be one thing if you didn't act like him, but you act so much like him! I can hear his voice there! The only difference is that..you don't remember any of us at all. I already lost you twice. I already lost Vox twice, I can't do it again. I can't risk losing that small fragment that's still left inside even if you're hardly a person anymore…"
Vincent shrunk back, his heart shattering to bits with every word. Nobody had moved and Vol himself looked shocked at what he said, as if he had spoken words from inside that should've never seen the light of day….
Regardless, Vol quickly averted his gaze and turned his back on them,"I...I need to go. Stay out of this...please…"
He then teleported off, leaving the others trapped behind a force-field. Vincent looked dejected at the ground, having lost all confidence at Vol's words.
"Don't take it personally," Al said, placing his hand on his shoulder,"Vol was just lashing out. He didn't mean it...at least I hope he didn't…"
"He sounded like he meant it to me," Vincent said coldly,"You don't need to lie, Al. It's pretty obvious Vol's had these thoughts buried deep inside him for a while, he just pushed it under the rug to avoid controversy. I guess he never really got over Vox not being here..."
"None of us did," Vanny replied,"It's just we all got used to your presence..Though it doesn't seem like Vol's fully adjusted like the rest of us are."
"He's really bitter," Velvet admitted,"Vol's not fully gotten over things he's been through. I know he hasn't and I doubt he ever will fully come to terms with it. But I at least thought he'd accept your circumstances Vincent though I guess he's still upset that you can't be the person he wanted you to be…"
"But he's right…" Vincent said,"I'm not really a person am I? I'm just a fragment of a soul put in a holy vessel. Am I really a person? I'm not even supposed to in the first place. I'm a fluke, a mistake, an experiment gone wrong. I shouldn't even exist, not like this...I'm incomplete and no matter what I do, I'll always have a part of me missing. And it's not like any of you really see me as anything other than an extension of Vox anyway. I can see it in your eyes, I'm just a poor imitation but I can't ever hope to live up to what Vox meant to everyone and will always be inferior as a result…"
He then looked at the bloodied spear in his hands, eyeing his reflection through the metal. Something didn't sit right with him, something was missing and it felt like he was staring at something that was broken…
'Am I doomed to just be a shadow of the person everyone used to love? Everyone loved the TV Demon, they loved Vox and they missed him. And me...I guess Charlie cares but everyone else just sees me as a replacement for Vox…' He clenched his teeth before slamming his spear against the force field repeatedly.
Alastor blanked,"Vincent, what are you doing?"
"Weakening the barrier," He retorted,"If Vol thinks he's doing anything alone he's got another thing coming. We're busting down this force field and helping whether he wants us to or not…And one way or another, I'll find a way to make things right again…"
The others looked at each other cautiously, deciding to avoid questioning Vincent on his terms of making things right as they used their holy weapons to make small but visible dents in the force field, chipping at it piece by piece..
Vol groaned if there was one thing he wished he had, it was wings because trying to keep track of three people in a mid-air battle from the ground was the equivalent of trying to chase after a freight-train. They were bolting across the city and Vol knew that he'd never catch up with them at the rate they were flying.
'Dammit! I'll never catch up to those fuckers at this rate! They're too fast!'
He caught his breath for a moment only to tense up when he heard someone approaching. He immediately pulled out his holy gun and said,"I swear if it's another mindless goon I'm just going to shoot without a moment of hesitation. I know you're fucking there, come on out before I make you…"
"Relax, I'm not a goon, Volastor. Hold your fire," Ada said, coming out from the shadows with an annoyed look on her face.
"Oh...it's you…" He lowered his gun but still seemed on edge. He still remembered his encounter with the other version of her who didn't take to him too kindly….
"Is there something wrong with me?"
"No...you just remind me of someone. Someone I don't like whatsoever…"
"Look, whatever issues you had with my other self don't apply here. I did none of that and I'd appreciate it if you didn't direct your ire at me. I have enough problems as it is and I don't want you getting any ideas on shooting me…"
"I'm not that unstable," Vol retorted,"I'm not going to shoot someone who hasn't done anything to me.. No matter how tempting it'd be. Not to mention that child on your head dissuades me from attacking…"
"Gee thanks...Ow! Watch it kid!" She hissed when Samuel tugged on her locks again."He's such an annoying brat…"
"Why'd you bring a child here, Ada? He's a bit...young to be in a war-zone don't you think?"
"He brought himself. Wouldn't leave me alone and when I tried to ditch him he latched onto me. Don't let his size fool you, he has the grip of iron and he'll tear your hair out at a moment's notice…"
"I see. Regardless, what are you here for? Are you here to try your luck against Micheal? You should know better than to directly challenge him…"
"I'm not dumb enough to fight him head on. Though if something isn't done it's only a matter of time before Gabriel and Lucifer just can't keep up with him. I don't think they'll be able to restrain him on their own. Which is where this comes in…" She then pulled out the Grimoire,"I found this on the ground not too long ago. I think it fell out of Micheal's suit or something when he and his siblings started fighting."
"What's your plan with it?"
"Use it as a distraction. There are spells in here that could be useful. I'm not certain anything in here would be effective on Micheal but perhaps using some sort of illusion or trick would detract his attention away from his siblings and onto someone else. As long as Micheal is able to focus on Lucifer and Gabriel nothing will get done…"
"Do you have something in mind?"
"Yes...though it's rather risky…"
"I'm all ears…"
Fucking finally got this chapter up. Took way too long.
Thanks for 13,112 views, tell me what you think below and if have a question you're free to ask.
Enigmus-288: Honestly the other Arch Angels were the impression that if they kept Micheal in Hell for a long period of time, he'd realize his mistake and own up. While they were technically correct, they underestimated contrived circumstances(Amosedous) and the fact Micheal was already growing bitter the longer he was in Hell. Their ideal plan was basically to leave Micheal there for another month or two, check on him and then reel him back to Heaven, probably to scold him extra before putting him on a leash until he could earn their trust back.
And it probably would've worked had Amosedous not fucked with Micheal's head at the last second, causing him to go from,'Ugh! I hate being in Hell! This punishment sucks! How long do I have to be here!?' to 'I'm going to take back the throne for not only myself but my son's sake and anyone opposing that will be dealt with! I've been far too patient with them, it's time I take back what is MINE!'
Mitsuru6: Trust me, not really a fan of OC's either but I felt adding Gabe was necessary since I didn't know jack about the other arch angels and they actually had a bio with their creator. The moment the battle is over most OC's will find their way out of the story in terms of closure.
