"There's more to life than surviving! Ugh!" Lloyd shouted before storming off, leaving the rest of his friends behind with his father.
As soon as he knew he was out of their eyesight, he ran towards the small training course below deck. Hardly anyone came down here and the dust smell was very apparent, but it was better than hitting his father in the face.
He flipped on the training course, watching as the wooden people spun and flung at him, before pulling out his sword and going at them.
He yelled as he sliced at one and screamed as he blasted another. 'I hate him, I hate him, I hate him.' He told himself, tears brimming at his eyes and making them sting.
His hands became alight with green as he blasted the last one with a cry of exertion before falling to the floor and pulling his legs in, his anger being replaced with sadness. 'Cole's really gone. And it's all my fault for listening to my father.'
"Lloyd?," a voice broke through the soft sobs coming from his throat, and he jerked his neck upwards to see Kai standing in the doorway, "you okay, buddy?"
"I don't think any of us are okay," Lloyd wiped the tears off his face before looking up at Kai who approached his side, "how's Nya?"
"She's with Jay. She wanted me to check on you." Kai smiled softly, putting his hand on his shoulder, warm and comforting as always, which is what made him wrap his arms tightly around him with renewed sobs.
"I hate him, I hate him, I hate him!"
He could feel the warm hands on his back pulling him close, but what he focused on was the cold, hard truth that emerged from his friend's lips just above a whisper. "No, Lloyd. You don't."
"I-I want to. I want to hate him so bad. He nearly killed all of us, he killed Mystaké, and I-"
"I know you do," Kai cut him off, pulling him closer to the bright red fabric against his shoulder, "I know how badly you want to hate him."
"I-I miss Cole." Lloyd managed to choke out, quickly becoming a blubbering, teary mess on the wooden floor; despite that, the tears in Kai's voice were apparent in his response.
"I miss him too, bud."
