The monastery was an interesting place for Lloyd to be, since the few times he had been here, it brought bad things with it; from the time he had been here was as a young boy, being drug along by the hypnobrai who grabbed their staff before setting it alight to when his uncle went up against Acronix by himself and got hit with the time blade.
But, this was a new building, a place of new beginnings and even though the doors and most of the outside structure already had to be repaired, it was time to expel the old and far sparse memories of this place and replace them.
Because the Oni had been defeated and even though his father had disappeared as soon as he had regained consciousness, they could finally recover from that battle. Which they all needed to do.
Kai's ribs were a spectacle of purple, green and yellow, Cole's entire back matched and that wasn't even mentioning the concussion he had gained from falling into the darkness.
Nya had an array of bruising and cuts up and down her arms, something that Master Wu assumed was from her trying to use the Scythe of Quakes, while Jay himself had needed several sets of stitches from who knows what, although if you asked him, he would insist he went head to head with the Omega Oni.
And then there were his own injuries; a concussion that rivaled Cole's, at least three broken ribs and the worst one, a large slash down his entire side from where the Oni's staff had hit him back in the Borg Vault.
'I really have to stop trusting the Sword of Sanctuary,' he thought to himself after he had been checked over by Jay after his blowup to his father and the wound had been discovered, 'I don't think it's ever done me any good.'
Which led to where he was now, in the med bay five days after the fight with the Oni, as Kai peeled off the bandages from a few hours before.
"You're still bleeding through these, kid." He muttered as he pulled out the antiseptic and the gauze.
"You're going to have to rip me open with that staff again before you even think about giving me stitc-" Lloyd hissed as the antiseptic touched his skin, the seering pain bringing tears to his eyes as he flinched away.
"Lloyd, just hold still for five seconds." Kai spoke, the frustration seeping from his voice as he pulled the gauze away from the wound to make eye contact with him.
"I'm trying, you're the one who-," he let out another hiss as his side came in contact with the gauze again, "- keeps doing that."
"Well, if you keep refusing to let Zane give you stitches, then we have to keep it from getting infected," Kai explained, throwing the used gauze in the trash before pulling out the bandages, "which by the way, if this doesn't start healing, your mom said she's making an executive decision on that."
"Why would you tell me that?!" Lloyd demanded before adding, "and maybe it'd heal better if you didn't pull off any chance of scabbing every few hours."
"I'm just trying to help, Lloyd," Kai spoke, his voice low and serious as he fastened the bandages, "I've seen you nearly die too many times for my comfort."
Lloyd winced as the room went silent before taking Kai's outstretched hand and standing on his feet. "Maybe it's an Oni thing. The whole "unable to get my blood to clot" thing."
"Or it's you refusing to take it easy," Kai remarked with a smirk, his serious mood gone as quickly as it showed up; but as soon as Lloyd walked out of the med bay, he heard Kai's voice call after him, "but I am seriously listening to your mom the second she says you need stitches!"
