Sitting in front of the mirror before her, Kyouka was in awe. She never really expected a day like this to come, and now that it was here… She didn't know what to feel. It was like a strange stirring sensation in her mind was trying to guide her, but she mistook it as merely getting butterflies while looking at her pristine wedding dress.

She figured that one day she'd find herself betrothed, but to have that day be today… It did bring up many concerns on if she had rushed things or not. She was getting married to Denki Kaminari, the same lightning quirked dolt who never seemed to be one for actual romance, but was now awaiting his soon to be wife. Waiting for Kyouka.

Kyouka looked down at her hands, taking a slow breath as she began to reminisce on her life. She tried to figure out where this all started; how she ended up here of all places. It wasn't necessarily unwelcome, but there was still that odd feeling in her mind, maybe something telling her that this wasn't right.

But how could that be? They've been together for so long now, and sure there had been other suitors for her at one point, the hands of time decided to play against them. Or at least that's what she had thought.

"You look beautiful, Kyouka." Her mother spoke from behind her, laying a gentle hand to her back as Kyouka gazed up at her mother through the mirror before them. "It must feel surreal, huh?"

Kyouka gazed back down at her hands, gripping them together at her mother's words. That wasn't quite the word she was thinking of when trying to describe the situation. It felt…

"Or perhaps it feels… Wrong?" Mika continued, moving her hand to her daughter's shoulder as Kyouka turned her head to her mother, confused. "That look on your face says it all, something's wrong about all of this, isn't there?"

"What..? No, it's… No, I'm just nervous is all." Kyouka denied, turning her attention back to the mirror as her mother's hand left her shoulder and the woman sighed before stepping out of the room. She dare not say another word if this was what her daughter wanted.

'Wrong? Is this wrong?' The purplette questioned internally, her brow furrowing in thought. 'But why? Why would this be wrong, it's… It's my wedding with Denki…'

Then came a sudden knocking on the door and in stepped the girl's maid of honor, her best friend, Momo Yaoyorozu. "Jirou! Oh my gosh, you look amazing!"

"Yaomomo…" Kyouka called softly. Momo quickly noticed the girl's state, she appeared almost frightened. Something was obviously wrong, and Momo could definitely tell what it was.

"Jirou, what's wrong? Are you alright, what's on your mind?" Momo questioned, quickly making her way beside her friend and staring at her with concerned, yet caring eyes. She could always tell when her friend was battling herself, something must have been bugging her.

There was a pause before she spoke as she took a moment to fiddle with her hands before taking a deep breath and finally answering, "I-I… I don't think this whole thing feels right. Getting married to Denki, it's just… I don't think I can do this, and I have no idea why! Everything was going so smoothly, and now I just-"

"You're still thinking of him, aren't you?" Momo mumbled, suddenly interrupting her while causing the purplette's face to twist to one of confusion. "Nevermind. Listen, if you really feel like you can't do this we can call off the wedding and you can try again another day if it feels right."

"No, what did you mean? Who are you referring to?" Kyouka pressed, her brow furrowing as she demanded some answers. If Momo knew what was wrong with her, why was she trying not to share it!

The ravenette sighed, "Midoriya. You two had a thing going for so long yet neither of you made a move. I'm not surprised this wouldn't feel right to you because, well… None of us really expected you two to get this far. He… It's pretty evident that he loves you more than you love him."

"What!? Me and Izuku don't even talk anymore, he's…" She paused and looked down painfully as she gripped her hands together. "He's basically a stranger to me now… He didn't even accept the invitation I sent him. There's no reason for him to be on my mind."

"Then why do you sound so hurt by that?" Momo pointed out, causing the purplette to flinch in surprise. "That's my point. You may not be thinking of him consciously, but subconsciously you know what I'm talking about… Kaminari is…" She paused to think about her next choice of words. "He's a nice guy, but he's not the one for you."

Kyouka slammed her hand down on the table in front of her, gritting her teeth as she scowled at Momo angrily for her accusations. "What do you know? He doesn't care anymore, and neither do I. I'm here to get married to the man I love and-"

"Do you love him?" Momo questioned, deciding to leave Kyouka to think about the answer to that question before turning away and leaving to the main hall of the ceremony, but stopped abruptly as she pulled out a small keylime envelope and placed it on a table seated right by the only door out of the room. "...Midoriya wanted me to give this to you. He… He urges you to read it."

And then she was alone once more. Alone with her thoughts, her anger, but most importantly her grief. This was supposed to be a happy day, but none of it felt right! Not a single bit of today was happy! All she wanted to do was crawl under a rug and cry, but then…

Then the letter caught her eye.

Dear Kyouka,

God, it feels weird writing this. I was mostly urged to do this by the others, but now that I'm actually sitting down to do it… I feel it's necessary so that I can really move on from everything. I want you to be happy, and to do that I feel that I myself have to properly make amends. I have been avoiding you, and although I know how wrong it is for me to try and cut ties with you, I can't help it anymore.

I am in love with you. I have been for a very long time, probably as early as our first year at UA. We had spent so much time together, you can't blame me for falling head over heels for you. I loved every second of being around you, and… Honestly, I hoped you had felt the same. Your vibrant smile could calm any storm brewing within me, and your music… Well, you already know how I feel about that.

And before I knew it we were graduating. I thought that then was my chance to have a shot at your heart, but after the ceremony when I went to find you, you were with him. With Kaminari. And that hurt me, it hurt a lot.

You were never at fault for that, you didn't know that I was in love with you, but Kaminari did. He was more than aware, and I guess he had feelings for you as well. He beat me to the punch and I was heartbroken.

Originally, I had tried to accept it and act as normal as I could around you two, but… I just couldn't keep up with the act any longer. The more I stayed around you, the more hurt I became, and eventually I slowly began to act as a stranger to you two. It must have upset you a lot, I remember your face twisting in hurt as I always made an excuse not to hangout with you and the others to the point where you stopped contacting me altogether.

But I told myself that was for the best. Every day for the years that we were apart I told myself that it was for the best. That I was doing you two a favor by not being around and allowing your love to flourish. But now I see that it wasn't right, I was only lying to myself and hurting us both in the process, and for that I want to say that I'm sorry.

I'm sorry that I failed as your friend. That I couldn't be strong enough to make it work. I say this on your wedding day so that I may find some semblance of closure, and that may be selfish of me, but I felt that I needed it.

Have a good wedding, Kyouka.

Sincerely,

Izuku Midoriya.

A single tear fell onto the letter in her hands. She hadn't even noticed that she was crying, but she forced them back as she didn't want to ruin her makeup that took hours to finish. Dabbing the tears away with her fingers, the purplette took a shaky breath.

"God dammit, Yaomomo… You're right." She mumbled, folding the letter back into the envelope and holding it to her chest as she finally felt a small semblance of happiness today. "I miss him. I miss what we had…"

But what was she to do now? She couldn't just call off her wedding and go after a man who didn't even want to show up. It was over between them, it was as he said; this was him moving on. And she should too.

It was time for her to head down the aisle anyway. This was the start of her new life; a life without Izuku Midoriya. She just had to accept it, this was what she wanted right? To move on from him and try to be with someone else. She had forgotten why she even wanted to be with Kaminari in the first place, and it was to get over someone who she thought was never interested in her.

Sighing once more, she gathered herself before heading out of the door and making her way to where she'd start her new life.

"Are you ready, Kyouka?" Her father spoke from beside her, his arm interlocked with hers as they heard the opening to Wedding March begin to play through the giant double doors in front of them. "Gosh, I can't believe my little girl's getting married…"

"Can it, old man. Don't get sentimental on me, let's just get this over with." She berated playfully, taking a jab at her father's feelings just as her and her mother did countless times before. "But… Dad, if I wanted to call off the wedding, would you be mad at me?"

"Kyouka…" Her father said, shocked that she'd even suggest such a thing. "Of course I wouldn't be mad, it's your decision to make, and if you… If you want to change your mind then I'll support you. Always."

Kyouka smiled softly and bumped her father's shoulder with her head, "Thanks dad. I think I'm ready now, let's go."

Kyoutoku smiled as the doors were pulled open for them and the father and daughter began their slow walk up the aisle to where she'd be delivered off to her fiance to be wed.

Glancing into the crowd occasionally, Kyouka saw many familiar faces. Some family, some friends, but as she expected there was no sign of Izuku Midoriya. She silently hoped that he'd make an appearance, but as it would be a bit of an awkward encounter after the letter… She understood. He felt as if there was no more space in her life for him anymore. They just needed to accept that.

As she made it up to her husband-to-be and all of their groomsmen and bridesmaids, she turned her attention to her best friend. Her Maid of Honor, Momo Yaoyorozu. They stared at each other for a moment, but they both silently apologized to one another for their behavior. It wasn't right for them to get so heated with one another.

And then there was her fiance. The man whom she would spend the rest of her days with if time allowed it. Denki stared at her with such a heartwarming smile, admiring her beauty for what it was. He was never a bad man, in fact he was always so caring and thoughtful to her, but now that she had found out what she really wanted… It felt wrong to be the one that smile was directed at.

They joined hands and the priest signalled for the music to stop so that the ceremony could commence. Kyouka could feel that shame rise within her, but she had dedicated herself to this role now. There was no stopping it.

The priests speech seemingly began to drown out in her mind, everything else was so distracting, to her friends and family, to the fact that Kaminari's tie wasn't the right shade of purple that they had agreed upon. But then came the question that she unconsciously was dreading.

"And do you, Kyouka Jirou, take Denki Kaminari to be your lawfully wedded husband?" The priest questioned as all eyes in the room turned to her. She looked out into the crowd anxiously, seeing all the faces of her friends and family staring back at her in anticipation for her answer. Some more judgmental than others, almost as if they were expecting the answer to be immediate and as obvious as can be. She needed to say "I do".

But then something caught her eye. Something way past the rest of the crowd, a tuft of green hair standing out above everyone else, but just as she noticed it, it was already leaving the building.

She knew that mess of hair from anywhere. He actually showed up, even if only for a moment, he made an appearance just as she had hoped. Her heart nearly melted on the spot; He still cared. Even if he said he wanted to move on, even if she had tried to delude herself, they knew that they couldn't.

"I-I…" She stuttered, looking down at her intertwined fingers, now with a golden band on her left ring finger. She couldn't do this, this wasn't right. She couldn't let him leave! She had to go after him! "I can't! I'm so sorry, Denki, but I can't marry you. The wedding's off."

Many members of the crowd gasped, but those that knew her. Those that really knew her smiled as they knew exactly what she was doing. She was letting herself be happy. She was finally using her head and deciding to be happy instead of being tied down with a man she didn't love.

Picking up her long flowing dress, she began to run as fast as she could. Thank the gods that she didn't wear heels for this event, and instead opted for flats. It was really coming in handy now.

Bursting through the double doors as the rest of the reception watched her exit the building, the purplette frantically scanned the area, for some kind of sign, something that would tell her where he was. Where he had run off to.

"...Kyouka?" A voice suddenly called from the nearby sidewalk. It was Izuku Midoriya trying to wave down a cab so that he can go home. He had heard someone burst through the doors of the chapel, but upon further investigation he was surprised to see that it was the bride-to-be herself. "What are you doing out here..? Shouldn't you be in there, it's your wedding day."

"I got your letter, Izuku…" She quickly stated, stepping towards the greenette who seemingly backed away fearfully. She looked him up and down, intrigued by his change in appearance. He was now sporting a small scar up his cheek and his hair was cut a tad shorter with an undercut to boot.

Gazing down at his attire, he was wearing a tie that matched the purple accents of her dress. He knew what shade of purple she liked, he paid attention to those smaller details about her. He made it a point to, just like he always made it a point to do what made her the happiest. She didn't know how she never saw it before.

"Oh… Sorry you had to find out this way, I just thought it was better to tell you the truth a-and, uh… Try to move on from the past." He explained shamefully, looking down with a pained expression as he couldn't bring himself to look her in the eyes.

"I know, you said so in the letter. But… I realized something because of what you said." Kyouka started, fiddling with her hands nervously as a blush dusted her cheeks. "I-I was doing the same thing… I had gotten with Denki to try and move on from you. I was so afraid back then that you'd never accept me romantically that I went and tried to move on without ever giving us a chance. And now I'm realizing that I paid the price and almost made a horrible mistake by not following what my heart wanted… And what I wanted was you."

"W-What? W-What are you saying, y-you have Kaminari…" Izuku stuttered out with a small amount of vice in his tone as he said the blond's name. He really was holding a grudge there.

"No… I called off the wedding, Izuku. I don't care if it takes work, I don't care if I have to rework my way into your heart, I only care about you. I just… I-I just want to be with you." She stated firmly, quickly embracing the greenette before he could react. Izuku was torn, on one hand he had been so ready to move on, but right before his very eyes was everything he wanted. Holding him in her arms was the girl that he had loved for so long, and now she was telling him that she had loved him all along.

"I-I…" He stuttered, trying to find the right words. "I've wanted the same thing for years, you've always been all I ever wanted. And I know that we don't really talk anymore, b-but let's start fresh. Let's try again and really make this work."

Kyouka smile and gazed into his eyes, finally getting him to look back at her before the couple leaned together in tandem and interlocked their lips as a means to set their relationship in stone.

Breaking away from the kiss the couple smiled at one another and almost as if they read each other's minds they only had one thing left to say.

"I love you."
