Chapter 1: Boarding
"WHAT?!" exclaimed Chloe. "Moi? At the back of the bus?"
"Come on, Chlo," said her half-sister, Zoe, who was also on the bus. "It can't be that bad. This bus has air-conditioning and a TV."
"But everyone knows I'm the Mayor's daughter," insisted Chloe, "and the Mayor's daughter does NOT deserve this kind of treatment!"
"Miss Bourgeois," said their teacher, Caline Bustier, "please don't complain. The seating order has already been arranged. We can't change it now."
"Well then," said Chloe threateningly, and she pulled out her phone. "I don't suppose Daddykins will be impressed when he hears of this arrangement!"
Bustier looked nervously at Chloe for a second, then backtracked. "Very well, you can sit at the front."
So Chloe moved to the front of the bus - not that it was any better. "Ugh! These plastic covers make me all sweaty! And I'm sitting too close to the window! This is ridiculous! Utterly ri-diculous!"
Zoe, who was watching the whole fiasco, shook her head, then turned and sat down next to her friend, Marinette.
"That's your sister for you, Zoe," said Marinette. Since Zoe had recently moved from New York to Paris, to escape from her old, toxic environment, she didn't know Chloe as well as the others. But she was getting an idea of what she was like.
"You don't need to tell me twice anymore, Marinette," she chuckled. "But anyway, what do you think Lyon will be like?"
"I don't know, but hopefully the hotel won't be too bad," said Marinette hopefully. "I'm counting on that," said Adrien. Marinette jumped - although she was no longer reduced to a stammering, melting mess when her crush was around, she was still somewhat nervous around him.
"What are you looking forward to, Marinette?" Adrien asked.
"N-nothing much," said Marinette, unable to hide her blush. "But hopefully they'll have some nice baked goods - y'know, something tasty like a brioche, or a new kind of croissant, or maybe blueberry muffins, my fave - oops, sorry Adrien, I'm rambling."
"No worries," chuckled Adrien. "I hope they'll be good too. I wouldn't be surprised if your mum and dad worked there - they make bloody good stuff, y'know."
Marinette smiled. That's why she liked Adrien - he was kind, nice, and he had a knack for connecting with people. Not traits one would suspect a rich model of having.
The thing was, she couldn't bring herself to tell him about her crush on him. The bus was now on its way to Lyon, where the class was heading for their annual school trip. Hopes were high, and everyone was excited.
Sorry, this was short. Stay tuned for Chapter Two.
