Ease Your Pain
Meg relishes in her and Zag's fights. Whenever she sees him approaching her the Fury's heart skips a beat. The fights and the flirting, his stories, his laugh, fill her with warmth she never thought she would feel. She always looks forward to him passing by her when he dies and tries again and again.
So when she sees him approaching, not all cocky smiles and winks, but instead blood and bruises, she feels herself go cold.
"Zag?" She's not use to being worried about him like this. He's never like this when he gets to her. In fact hers are usually the first bruises he gets, even if he gets passed her its never unscaved. She was no staged to violence and death, blood and screams. She heard stories from Than, about seeing him covered in blood when he emerges from the River, but to see him limping towards her like this.
The Fury ran towards him and he collapsed against her, "Hey Meg. You're looking pretty as always." He smiled a bloody smile.
"Zag..." She brushed his blood covered hair from his face, looking into his mismatched red and green eyes, "Who did this to you?"
Zag shrugged, the movement made him hiss in pain, "I was reckless that's all. Ran headfirst into... well everything." He laughed again, but coughed up a bit of blood from his mouth.
"You're always reckless Zag. But this? Why would you do this to yourself?" She looked him over, taking note of every bloody would and scratch on his body.
"I just... wanted to see you sooner." He whispered as he closed his eyes, "Sorry, I don't think I'll be much of a challenge like this."
Meg shook her head. She lifted Zag into her arms, "You damn idiot. You scared me. I'll kill you for that." Zag chuckled, "But first, lets get you all patched up. I... don't like seeing you like this." Zag mumbled a 'thank you' against her neck as his eyes close. For a moment Meg thinks he's dead but then she feels him breathe and she lets out a breath she didn't know she was holding. His breathing evened out and he relaxed in her arms, the pain seemingly elevated just by her being there.
This persistent, lovable idiot somehow managed to make his way into the Fury's heart and damn it she couldn't find it in her to kick him out.
