Welcome everyone to chapter 3!
I'm so glad you guys are back! Thank you for reading my story and making it to chapter 3! I know it's not very much but the fact that you want to keep reading means a lot.
Boy oh boy! Looks like everyone's getting pretty stressed about Maayla's disappearance. What're they gonna do? Guess you'll just have to keep reading till you find out ;)
I hope you enjoy and let's get right into this!
Leo felt himself growing more and more anxious as he paced back and forth, his fingers tangled in his curly hair.
It had been close to twenty-two hours since Makayla had disappeared from Camp Half-Blood and even though almost every camper was searching through camp and the surrounding town, no one had found any trace of her. The last person to have seen the redhead was Ashlyn but the last time she did, the redhead was walking off after an almost flash-back.
"Leo, you're going to wear a mark on the carpet if you don't calm down."
Leo had been pacing for the past hour and Jakob wasn't any better. The son of Apollo looked in shock, sitting on a couch with his head in his hands. He had barely moved an inch in the past fifty minutes.
Piper, Annabeth, Percy, and Jason were sitting on the couches watching Leo while Ashlyn and Lauren played with the babies Adam and Angel on the floor in an attempt to keep the two infants occupied.
"Well, what else am I supposed to do?!" Leo demanded in response to Piper's comment. "It's been almost twenty-four hours since my little sister went missing and nobody has found anything!"
"Yet! We haven't found anything yet." Percy corrected, laying on the couch, his head on Annabeth's lap and feet on the armrest. He was playing with three of Adam's small wooden blocks, trying to juggle them.
"And panicking isn't gonna help," Annabeth then added. "If there is one thing we know for a fact about Makayla, it's that she's strong and she's smart. Wherever she is, she'll come back sooner or later. We just have to be patient."
"I know I know. I just- I'm worried. The last time she disappeared she thought we all secretly hated her and ran away. And before that, she ran to try and escape Ga- I mean, that bad guy," Leo quickly fixed himself, knowing Lauren was still sensitive to the former Serpents' Leader's name. "But Kayla wouldn't have just left again."
"True." Jason agreed, making several of the twins' small toys fly around the room. "There are too many things and people here that she cares about."
"Someone's watching us." Lauren suddenly announced, straightening.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Ashlyn wondered, looking around the room. "We're the only ones here."
"No, not like that." The mortal shook her head. "Someone is watching us but- I-I don't know how to explain it. It's kind of like a one-way Iris Message: they can see and hear us but we can't hear or see them."
"So kinda like scrying?" Percy summarized, still trying to juggle the toy blocks. Lauren spun to him.
"How do you know about that?" She demanded.
"Uh... a friend showed me." The son of Poseidon answered vaguely as he remembered a certain brown-haired Dragon Rider, looking a little taken back by her sudden demand.
"Who?"
"Um..."
"Percy, who showed you? Scrying isn't something you just know and can do. Who showed you?"
"Eragon told me. He was-" Percy stuttered but stopped when Lauren suddenly gained a nervous expression, almost scared.
"E-Eragon?" She repeated with her hazel eyes wide.
"Uh yes...?"
Lauren's breathing then started to speed up and her face lost most of its color.
"Lauren, are you alright?" Annabeth worried. Lauren stiffened again.
"They're gone." She muttered.
"Who's gone?" Jason wondered. Lauren shook her head.
"I don- I don't know who it was."
"I'm confused... How could someone scry us here?" Percy asked no one in particular. "From what Eragon told me, scrying only worked in Alagaesia when you used magic with the elves or Riders-"
Not a second later was Lauren grabbing his shirt with her only hand, her eyes hard.
"How do you know about that place?!" She demanded. Percy's sea-green eyes shot wide.
"Whoa!" He exclaimed, throwing up his hands. "I-I was sent there a while ago when Amira was brought here to Earth as a trade!"
For a moment he forgot she and Makayla weren't around when he had been sent to Alagaesia and Amira was brought to Earth.
"That's it," Lauren muttered, letting go of Percy, dropping him back onto Annabeth's lap. "It all makes sense now. I can't believe I didn't think of this before just disappearing not a trace anywhere..."
"Lauren, what are you talking about?" Piper wondered confusedly.
"I know where Makayla is!" The mortal announced, catching Leo and Jakob's attention.
"Where?!" They both exclaimed in unison. Lauren turned to them, eyes level and expression serious.
"She's in Alagaesia..."

Makayla followed Amira, Eragon, and the girl who had been introduced as Arya as they led her to where the three dragons stood waiting.
At first, Makayla was hesitant to near the large beasts as the last time one of them had spoken in her mind, Ganabranth had come back to taunt her but she followed them anyway as she didn't want to stay in the open at night.
Eragon mounted Saphira, Amira on the silver dragon, and the other girl on the green one. Eragon held his hand out to Makayla and after a long moment of her hesitation, she accepted his hand and he helped her up so she sat behind her. A moment later she gave a yelp of surprise and her arms wrapped tightly around his waist as the blue dragon shot off the ground. Eragon chuckled.
"Apologies, I should have warned you." He apologized over the wind.
Makayla nodded, her arms around his waist and eyes shut tight. She felt as Saphira flew them higher until the clouds surrounded them. She wouldn't be surprised if she was suffocating Eragon but at that moment, she didn't care. Riding a real living dragon felt a lot different than flying on Festus the Bronze Dragon. The blue dragon then seemed to break free of the clouds and she felt as they evened out to a gentle glide.
"Open your eyes." It was suddenly easier to hear Eragon as he spoke in a soft tone.
For a small moment, Makayla wondered how he knew her eyes were closed as he was in front of her but still she hesitantly opened one eye.
But then she gasped and both her eyes went wide at the sight before her: thousands upon thousands of twinkling stars surrounded them, shining brightly in the dark of night. On all sides, the sky diamonds sparkled and shone brighter and more amazing than any of the stars on earth ever could have. Despite not knowing any constellations, she was amazed by the beautiful sight and could only stare at the sea of glittering gems.
Feeling as if she could touch one, she slowly unwrapped an arm from around Eragon and reached a hand out. She felt herself smile as the wind circled her arm.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Eragon chuckled, looking back to see her expression. Makayla nodded slowly.
"It's amazing." She agreed with a smile.
"I love flying at night. It makes me feel more..." The Rider trailed off, trying to think of a word to describe the feeling.
"Real." Makayla finished, still staring at the white diamonds in the sea of dark blue, with a small smile on her lips. "Like you're seeing everything for the first time."
Eragon nodded in silent agreement, a small, soft smile on his lips. Several more minutes of smooth gliding passed before Saphira began to fly lower, passing through the clouds again. Makayla closed her eyes and moved her arms around Eragon again (though not as tightly) and laid her head against his back. Behind him, the redhead was unable to see the small blush that came to the Rider's cheeks. She felt herself slowly falling asleep but before she could drift off, Saphira landed.
Eragon skillfully dismounted before reaching out his hands to catch Makayla as she clumsily slid from the dragon's saddle. The redhead looked around as she steadied on her feet and saw that they were in front of another mountain-side cave, though this was different from the first. Then she noticed Amira and her dragon were already there and turned back to the Blue Rider.
"Thank you, Eragon. That was really nice." Makayla thanked him, shyly if not a bit awkwardly. He gave a smile.
"The night sky always helps to calm me. It seemed your emotions were rather mixed so I figured it would help." He explained with a humble shrug.
Acting on impulse Makayla took his hand in hers, kissing the back gently, holding back a laugh when he blushed.
"I- er, um… I'm- I will see you later." He stuttered awkwardly. Then he quickly hurried to mount Saphira and took off.
"He seemed as though he were in a rush to leave." Amira teased, seemingly appearing beside Makayla. "Is there any reason as to why?"
"No idea." The demigod shrugged, perfectly poker-faced. Amira rolled her purple eyes but chuckled.
"Okay sure. Come, I will show you to a place you can sleep."
When Makayla woke the next morning, she was confused why she was sleeping on a primitive-looking cot with nothing but a blanket and pillow.
She sat up and looked around to see that she was in some cave-looking room with stone walls so she stood and stretched her arms above her head. Looking down, she saw she was still wearing her Camp Half-Blood shirt and denim shorts. She took her ever-present hair band from her wrist and put her long red hair into a long braid that still hung to mid-back despite the effort to contain it. Stretching her arms once more, she then left the room through a doorway-like opening to one side.
She was still confused about where she was but when the demigod saw Amira's purple hair, her memory returned.
The young Rider was sitting beside and talking to the large silver dragon that lay beside her. She heard her name mentioned a few times in the small bit of conversation she heard before Amira noticed Makayla.
"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" She greeted her with a smile.
"Yeah, thanks." Makayla answered.
"There is no need for thanks. Any friend of "The Seven" is a friend of mine as well." Amira told her with air quotations. Makayla figured it was a gesture she picked up from one of the boys back home.
"So you've heard the name?" She asked, sitting on the ground beside Amira though still keeping a distance from the dragon.
"Yes. Chiron told me of their great prophecy." Amira nodded, noting that the demigod retained wariness for her dragon.
"You seem to have a pretty good memory with everyone's names."
"Indeed. I do admit that they had made it clear."
Makayla nodded but said nothing. Looking down at her current outfit then at Amira's, she realized how insanely different the two styles were and realized that she should probably ask to borrow some clothes.
"Um… sorry if this is an awkward question but you wouldn't happen to have a change of clothes I could borrow, would you?" The redhead asked, a bit hesitant. Amira nodded.
"We seem to wear the same size of clothing so I believe so. Please wait here." Amira stood and left into one of the connecting areas, leaving Makayla with Visarus.
Makayla felt wary and uncomfortable as the dragon stared, barely moving and making no sound besides his breathing. He stared at her as though she were a small animal and he was trying to guess if she was faking death. Makayla saw a fire in his eyes that said he could jump at any second so her hand started glowing, not sure what the dragon was going to do.
Their gazes were locked in a standoff for several minutes until it broke when the dragon moved his eyes to look behind Makayla. Said girl didn't take her eyes from the silver creature.
"These may seem an odd choice of clothing in comparison to those you are used to but I promise that they will help you avoid unwanted attention in my world." Amira explained, coming up behind her.
Makayla gave a mental sigh in relief, extinguishing the light from her hand. She reluctantly took her eyes from the dragon and rose to her feet. Amira handed her the folded outfit and she smiled her thanks as she accepted the small pile of clothes. She returned to the small room she had woken in. After changing, Makayla looked down and scanned her eyes over her new outfit.
The shirt she now wore was a white peasant-style tunic made of a soft breathable cloth. Atop that was a leather bustier that laced closed in the front made of strong fabric similar to armor leather. The plain brown breeches were made of a fitting material that reminded Makayla of riding pants and had a slightly higher waist that she had tucked the tunic into. Digging around the small pile, she noticed that Amira had included a pair of knee-length riding boots, surprising her as they fit comfortably, as well as a pair of firm forearm bracers that she had yet to figure out. She had to admit to herself that she looked pretty hot in a bada** medieval-warrior sorta way.
"I look like a renaissance character from that video game Jake plays," Makayla muttered as she buckled her sword belt around her waist. She gathered her previous clothes in a neat pile that she placed on the cot beside the blanket from that morning before heading back into the room where Amira and her dragon waited.
"How do the clothes feel?" The Rider asked when she saw her.
"They actually fit and are surprisingly comfy despite feeling like I just jumped out of a medieval play." The demigod admitted. Amira laughed lightly and took the bracers from the redhead.
"As I said: these may seem unfamiliar and odd to you as you are not used to our style of clothing." She told her as she showed Makayla how to slip and tighten them onto her forearms for protection. "But this will help you blend in with the people of my world."
Looking over the purple-haired Rider, Makayla noticed Amira wore an outfit similar to the one she now wore: light tunic and breeches with riding boots that were a bit shorter than the ones Makayla wore. She too had a leather armor bustier but hers had leather sleeves that went to her elbows, her forearms also covered by similar bracers.
"I am meeting with Eragon and Arya for a noon meal. Would you like to join us?" Amira offered after securing Makayla's armguards. The demigod paused; that would most likely mean that they'd have to fly and she still wasn't exactly used to dragons being real.
"Um... Sure." She reluctantly agreed.
The purple-haired Alagaesian reassured her that they would be safe in the air before reaching down where she had previously sat and picked up two bundles. She handed one to her and the redhead unfolded it to see that it was a cloak. The Rider explained that a cloak was one of the few means they had to keep themselves warm in the sky so Makayla reluctantly tied the black one around her neck. Amira then did the same with her own cloak, though hers was silver in color.
Visarus stood from his place on the cave floor and Amira skillfully mounted his back. She offered her hand to Makayla and the redhead accepted after a long pause and moved to sit behind the Silver Rider.
Moving to the lip of the cave's opening, Visarus spread his large silver wings and took off into the sky.
And that concludes the third chapter of our crossover!
