Transformers Maximal Revolution
Chapter 13
Miko had suggested teaching them about Earth history. . . though Optimus wasn't sure what a 'Star Wars' marathon had to do with Earth history. But at least it was keeping everyone occupied he mused as the Prime watched his team, the humans and the Predacons.
It also gave him time to think, they needed energon and the Predacons could find it. He wasn't one who believed in coincidences but this was an opportunity they couldn't pass up. Especially with whatever the Decepticons were planning, they needed to be prepared. Optimus noticed Ratchet approaching him.
"I'm sure you've been thinking about the same thing I am," the medic went straight to the point.
"Indeed old friend."
"We should start digging as soon as possible," Ultra Magnus had joined them. "We should not delay."
"There's something else we need to discuss first," the Prime countered.
They both gave him confused looks. "What could be more important?" Ratchet questioned.
"What do you guys think?" Miko asked after the last movie.
"It was very interesting," Destiny responded.
"I wanted to get the 'Hobbit and Lord of the Rings' sets to but Raf was insistent you needed to read the books first," Miko said.
"It's true," the young boy responded.
"I'll take your word for it," Destiny smiled.
The discussion then moved to what they should do now. "There is something we need to discuss," Optimus got everyone's attention. He looked at Destiny, "Can all the Predacons sense energon?"
She frowned a little but nodded. "If there's enough for us to sense and it's not covered too much," Destiny answered.
Everyone excitedly started talking. Energon had always been a problem to find and gather, especially now. Optimus closed his optics for a moment knowing he would have to bring everyone back to reality. Destiny watched him knowing there was more. "Before we begin though there's something we to consider first."
"What?" Was the main question from everyone.
"Decepticons." The group shared a look, they hadn't thought of them. "Before we can gather energon," Optimus looked pointedly at the Predacons, "You need to be able to defend yourselves."
"We know how to fight," Skydart declared.
Destiny almost snarled at him but Wheeljack's scoffed, "Really," beat her to it.
Skydart glared at the older bot, "What's that suppose to mean!"
Wheeljack shrugged, "Just seeing a rookie being stupid."
"STUPID!"
"I just call it as I see it."
Destiny shared a look with Optimus, seeing his look as he watched she realized Skydart probably needed this. The Autobot's have been fighting the Decepticons for a long time, Skydart hadn't even faced them yet.
Skydart snapped arrogantly, "Well I can't speak for them," he waved at his fellow Predacons, "But I'm at least decent in a fight." The others glared at him offended.
"What about Predaking?" Arcee brought up.
"Oh yeah, the fight you lost," Miko said with a big grin.
Skydart glared at her but Kitsune caught his attention by adding, "As much as I hate to admit their right."
"TRAITOR!"
"What do you suggest," Destiny asked Optimus.
"Ratchet open a groundbridge." The medic didn't need to be told where as he activated the device. As soon as the green portal open Optimus gestered towards it, "Follow me."
"Let's go," Miko cried hurrying over.
"Wait!" June called but the kids hurried through and she had no choice but to follow.
After they entered Ratchet turned off the groundbridge. . . only to realized someone had remained behind.
The group found themselves in a desert surrounded by large rocks. "Here will begin," Optimus declared. "There is one rule, you cannot transform during training till your instructor tells you to."
"WHAT!" was the general reply. The only ones who had stayed quiet were Destiny and Kitsune.
"But how can we fight?" Trickster asked.
"That's the point of training," Arcee deadpanned.
Optimus agreed, "Will start with a practice match before pairing you with an autobot. Will start with hand-to-hand and come to transforming when we feel you're ready. Time is of the essence so we will move quickly but you need to listen."
"We will," Destiny cut in before the others could argue.
Optimus nodded and turned to Skydart, "You'll go first."
"Fine by me," he declared stepping forward. "Who am I up against, Wheeljack, Bulkhead, Ultra Magnus?"
"Your opponent today will be Arcee."
"You can't be serious," Skydart shouted in shock. The other Predacons looked like they agreed.
"Not up to it," Arcee replied with a bold smirk, not bothered by the reaction.
Skydart snarled, "Let's get this over with so the real fight can begin." He stepped forward as Arcee did the same, the two stopped a few feet from each other as the others formed a circle at a safe distance.
Moving quickly Skydart dove forward and tried to strike the little fembot but when his fist met the ground Arcee had launched herself into the air faster than expected, with a smirk Arcee delivered a kick to his face. That was quickly followed by a punch to the optic and before the young bot could react Arcee had jumped onto his shoulder guard and was behind the Skydart with a blade against his neck cables.
"If this had been a real fight," Optimus told the bewildered Predacons "That would be a fatal move if she could stab into your neck cables."
"Rule number one, never underestimate an enemy," Arcee replied coldly.
Skydart could only blink in shock.
"What are you still doing here?" Ratchet demanded. Light Flare tried to make herself look smaller in the presence of the irate medic. Seeing this Ratchet sighed and tried in a calmer tone, "Are you hiding?"
"I don't want to fight," she admitted.
Sympathy went through Ratchet like a shock, he placed a servo on her shoulder guard, "Take it from someone who wasn't built to fight either, you'll need to learn to defend yourself. Just saying you don't want to fight doesn't help against the other bot."
Light Flare's optics almost doubled their size in shock but soon dimmed in understanding. "Your right," she agreed softly.
"You know there are other ways to attribute to this war. . . how would you like to train as a medic?"
The young femme looked at him shocked, "I r-really don't want to bother anyone."
Ratchet huffed, "That Skydart is a bother, you'd be learning an important skill."
She shifted uncomfortable, "He cares. . . just in his own way."
"I'm sure he does," Ratchet grumbled. He then took Light Flare's servo leading her towards his workbench. "Now," he said getting into teacher mood, "Let's begin." He explained the tools and their uses first planning to give her a datapad to study later, Ratchet couldn't help but smile a little when she wasn't looking. This was how it should be, him training young medics. Ratchet thought of First Aid and hoped his former apprentice was still alive somewhere out there.
